return_v and_o humble_v soul_n here_o it_o be_v that_o this_o presumptuous_a person_n will_v adventure_v to_o sin_n upon_o a_o confidence_n that_o he_o will_v notwithstanding_o all_o this_o fashion_n and_o polish_v his_o soul_n to_o a_o meet_a capacity_n of_o mercy_n by_o hereafter_o repenting_n and_o humbling_n he_o do_v foolish_o delude_v his_o soul_n with_o a_o fancy_n of_o such_o thing_n which_o exceed_v his_o power_n there_o be_v two_o thing_n which_o the_o sinner_n can_v assure_v himself_o of_o one_o be_v the_o lengthen_v of_o his_o life_n for_o this_o candle_n be_v light_v and_o put_v out_o not_o according_a to_o our_o desire_n but_o according_a to_o divine_a pleasure_n all_o life_n have_v its_o limit_n from_o the_o lord_n of_o life_n and_o death_n he_o who_o sin_n to_o day_n can_v be_v assure_v that_o he_o shall_v live_v till_o to_o morrow_n now_o

snare_n for_o who_o will_v not_o confident_o write_v after_o that_o sinful_a copy_n which_o both_o goodness_n and_o greatness_n have_v begin_v that_o which_o the_o great_a man_n dotâ—_n the_o inferior_a person_n will_v do_v and_o that_o which_o the_o good_a man_n do_v that_o the_o evil_a man_n think_v he_o may_v now_o lawful_o do_v if_o knowledge_n will_v venture_v ignorance_n suppose_v that_o when_o the_o soul_n suppress_v truth_n when_o the_o soul_n suppress_v truth_n truth_n and_o hold_v back_o the_o light_n for_o unrighteousness_n sake_n when_o it_o know_v the_o fact_n or_o way_n to_o be_v sinful_a and_o yet_o will_v not_o be_v hold_v back_o 4._o what_o be_v it_o for_o a_o person_n to_o bless_v himself_o in_o his_o way_n and_o to_o way_n when_o a_o man_n bless_v himself_o in_o a_o sinful_a way_n protect_v himself_o when_o god_n have_v curse_v his_o fact_n to_o say_v none_o of_o this_o evil_n shall_v befall_v i_o but_o to_o morrow_n shall_v be_v as_o to_o day_n the_o prophet_n be_v a_o fool_n and_o the_o spiritual_a man_n be_v mad_a god_n will_v not_o do_v as_o he_o report_v therefore_o soul_n take_v thy_o ease_n thy_o course_n let_v we_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o though_o it_o have_v find_v hell_n in_o the_o conscience_n for_o the_o same_o sin_v yet_o it_o will_v break_v out_o again_o upon_o a_o hope_n of_o great_a mercy_n object_n yea_o but_o alas_o the_o best_a have_v their_o infirmity_n and_o escape_n we_o think_v no_o hurt_n and_o god_n know_v our_o heart_n sin_n we_o do_v and_o who_o do_v not_o but_o it_o be_v not_o through_o presumption_n but_o subtle_a and_o man_n be_v apt_a to_o raise_v themselves_o in_o a_o false_a opinion_n of_o their_o safety_n and_o to_o extenuate_v the_o height_n and_o part_n of_o their_o sin_v but_o to_o the_o objection_n i_o will_v brief_o discover_v unto_o you_o whether_o presumption_n four_o thing_n whether_o our_o sinning_n be_v from_o infirmity_n or_o presumption_n your_o sinning_n fall_v from_o infirmity_n or_o else_o proceed_v from_o presumption_n this_o must_v be_v grant_v in_o the_o general_a 1._o there_o be_v sin_n of_o infirmity_n as_o well_o as_o of_o presumption_n 2._o infirmity_n be_v of_o two_o sort_n 1._o mere_a infirmity_n sin_n arise_v from_o mere_a weakness_n without_o any_o deliberation_n of_o the_o mind_n or_o choice_n of_o the_o will_n as_o sudden_a evil_a thought_n grant_v that_o even_o a_o good_a heart_n may_v yet_o be_v find_v in_o the_o dirt_n it_o may_v be_v overtake_v with_o some_o particular_a fact_n which_o be_v stark_o naught_o but_o this_o irregular_a action_n arise_v principal_o from_o a_o strength_n of_o temptation_n which_o exceed_v the_o actual_a strength_n of_o the_o renew_a heart_n like_o a_o man_n in_o a_o crowd_n though_o he_o strive_v 2._o act_n of_o infirmity_n be_v not_o habitual_a but_o particular_a they_o particular_a infirmity_n be_v not_o habitual_a but_o particular_a be_v rather_o transient_a then_o permanent_a act_n they_o be_v act_n but_o not_o continue_a act_n like_o a_o land-flood_n not_o like_o a_o river_n and_o the_o reason_n of_o it_o be_v these_o 1._o partly_o because_o they_o spring_v from_o temptation_n which_o though_o note_n it_o may_v now_o and_o then_o overreach_v the_o soul_n yet_o the_o renew_a heart_n observe_v the_o slight_a of_o satan_n and_o the_o imbecility_n of_o itself_o provide_v therefore_o for_o strong_a defence_n and_o strength_n to_o resist_v and_o 2._o partly_o because_o they_o flow_v from_o passion_n and_o sudden_a distemper_n which_o be_v not_o a_o constant_a inclination_n but_o only_o a_o fit_a a_o present_a violence_n david_n in_o a_o sudden_a passion_n will_v kill_v nabal_n and_o every_o mother_n child_n but_o when_o abâ—gail_n meet_v and_o assuage_v he_o and_o make_v he_o to_o be_v repute_v a_o infirmity_n then_o for_o a_o mariner_n to_o be_v in_o his_o ship_n or_o a_o tradesman_n to_o be_v in_o his_o shop_n three_o act_n of_o infirmity_n be_v involuntary_a act_n the_o man_n do_v act_n infirmity_n be_v involuntary_a act_n they_o but_o the_o will_n be_v against_o they_o the_o evil_a which_o i_o will_v not_o do_v that_o do_v i_o say_v paul_n in_o rom._n 7._o as_o the_o fact_n oppose_v the_o law_n so_o that_o will_v oppose_v the_o fact_n it_o be_v that_o which_o a_o man_n judgement_n disapprove_v and_o which_o his_o will_n be_v averse_a from_o the_o traveller_n his_o will_n be_v to_o go_v the_o right_a way_n and_o in_o that_o to_o stand_v yet_o he_o may_v stumble_v and_o fall_v down_o and_o this_o may_v be_v call_v a_o infirmity_n but_o if_o he_o be_v and_o great_a i_o observe_v three_o thing_n 1._o that_o satan_n have_v a_o strange_a hand_n over_o that_o soul_n which_o can_v sin_n satan_n have_v a_o strong_a hand_n over_o the_o soul_n which_o can_v bear_v with_o any_o sin_n bear_v with_o any_o sin_n he_o may_v by_o lesser_a thing_n maintain_v his_o command_n as_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o little_a child_n do_v command_v the_o land_n for_o the_o child_n prevail_v with_o the_o queen_n and_o the_o queen_n with_o the_o king_n and_o he_o over_o the_o land_n satan_n can_v prevail_v for_o a_o little_a sin_n and_o a_o little_a sin_n can_v prevail_v with_o the_o heart_n and_o the_o heart_n with_o the_o whole_a man_n 2._o that_o little_a sin_n be_v breed_v sin_n now_o sin_n will_v keep_v its_o bound_n but_o natural_o will_v greaten_v itself_o though_o sin_n little_a sin_n be_v breed_v sin_n it_o seem_v modest_a at_o first_o yet_o will_v it_o by_o degree_n become_v familiar_a and_o impudent_a 3._o they_o be_v entice_n sin_n they_o be_v the_o advocate_n in_o the_o sin_n they_o be_v entice_a sin_n bosom_n for_o great_a they_o do_v not_o only_a labour_n for_o their_o own_o lodging_n but_o will_v deal_v strong_o with_o the_o heart_n to_o embrace_v great_a as_o occasion_n and_o temptation_n present_v themselves_o therefore_o this_o do_v give_v the_o water_n leave_v no_o not_o a_o little_a little_a stream_n make_v way_n to_o the_o ocean_n and_o thou_o study_v the_o present_a way_n to_o become_v a_o great_a transgressor_n to_o rise_v to_o presumptuous_a sinning_n who_o will_v allow_v thyself_o to_o be_v a_o habitual_o immoderate_a sinner_n second_o take_v heed_n of_o the_o iteration_n of_o any_o sin_n viz._n do_v not_o go_v a_o sin_n over_o and_o over_o of_o all_o transgression_n sin_n take_v heed_n of_o the_o iteration_n of_o any_o sin_n which_o dispose_v the_o soul_n towards_o presumption_n the_o repeat_v have_v a_o special_a influence_n and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o a_o reason_n for_o it_o because_o presumptuous_a sinning_n depend_v much_o upon_o the_o boldness_n of_o the_o heart_n when_o the_o heart_n become_v bold_a and_o fearless_o note_v it_o will_v then_o venture_v through_o thick_a and_o thin_a it_o will_v presume_v far_o they_o be_v man_n who_o sin_v with_o both_o hand_n and_o as_o high_a as_o sodom_n who_o come_v to_o this_o pass_n that_o they_o know_v no_o shame_n now_o sin_n of_o iteration_n or_o repeat_v sin_n they_o frame_v a_o boldness_n in_o the_o heart_n as_o repeat_v blow_n do_v the_o anvil_n and_o the_o more_o harden_v the_o heart_n be_v the_o more_o its_o warn_a act_n and_o in_o its_o restrictive_a act_n and_o in_o its_o corrective_a and_o judicial_a act_n i_o it_o shall_v point_v the_o way_n or_o fact_n in_o the_o evil_a and_o unlawful_a
