the_o fullness_n of_o the_o high_a power_n that_o be_v to_o say_v of_o the_o bishop_n of_o rome_n which_o i_o doubt_v not_o be_v know_v well_o enough_o to_o the_o whole_a world_n long_o ago_o and_o speak_v more_o plain_o chapter_n 5._o first_o of_o all_o you_o must_v beware_v leâ—t_v you_o take_v a_o figurative_a speech_n according_a to_o the_o letter_n for_o to_o this_o agree_v that_o which_o the_o apostle_n say_v the_o letter_n kill_v but_o the_o spirit_n give_v life_n for_o when_o that_o which_o be_v figurative_o speak_v be_v take_v as_o though_o it_o be_v speak_v proper_o it_o be_v carnal_o understand_v neither_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n that_o may_v more_o agreeable_o be_v term_v the_o death_n of_o the_o soul_n then_o when_o that_o wherein_o we_o excel_v beast_n which_o be_v understanding_n or_o knowledge_n be_v make_v subject_n to_o the_o flesh_n by_o follow_v the_o letter_n for_o he_o that_o follow_v the_o letter_n understand_v word_n translate_v or_o borrow_v as_o the_o sacrament_n by_o spiritual_a liberty_n which_o neither_o stick_n to_o the_o letter_n neither_o worship_n and_o reverence_v the_o visible_a thing_n and_o element_n as_o water_n bread_n and_o wine_n in_o stead_n of_o the_o thing_n signify_v but_o be_v rather_o admonish_v and_o stir_v up_o by_o the_o sign_n they_o be_v lift_v up_o in_o their_o mind_n to_o behold_v the_o thing_n signify_v acknowledge_v the_o same_o augustine_n in_o the_o same_o book_n chapter_n 15._o teach_v when_o and_o after_o what_o manner_n a_o trope_n or_o figure_n be_v to_o be_v receive_v or_o acknowledge_v say_v in_o figurative_a speech_n this_o manner_n of_o rule_n shall_v be_v keep_v that_o so_o long_o you_o view_v with_o diligent_a consideration_n what_o be_v read_v until_o the_o interpretation_n come_v unto_o the_o rule_n of_o charity_n for_o if_o it_o be_v not_o repugnant_a to_o charity_n think_v not_o that_o it_o be_v a_o figurative_a speech_n and_o yet_o more_o plain_o he_o add_v in_o the_o 16._o chapter_n follow_v if_o it_o be_v a_o imperative_fw-it speech_n either_o forbid_v any_o heinous_a offence_n or_o wicked_a deed_n or_o command_v any_o profitable_a or_o good_a deed_n it_o be_v no_o figurative_a speech_n but_o if_o it_o command_v any_o wicked_a deed_n or_o forbid_v any_o deed_n of_o charity_n than_o it_o be_v figurative_a except_o you_o eat_v the_o flesh_n of_o the_o son_n of_o man_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n you_o have_v no_o life_n in_o you_o he_o seem_v to_o command_v some_o horrible_a offence_n or_o wicked_a deed_n therefore_o it_o be_v a_o figurative_a speech_n command_v we_o to_o communicate_v with_o the_o passion_n of_o christ_n and_o comfortable_o and_o profitable_o to_o lay_v up_o in_o our_o remembrance_n that_o his_o flesh_n be_v crucify_v and_o wound_v for_o we_o the_o scripture_n say_v if_o thine_o enemy_n hunger_n feed_v he_o here_o no_o man_n doubt_v but_o he_o command_v well_o do_v but_o that_o which_o follow_v for_o in_o so_o do_v thou_o shall_v heap_v coal_n of_o fire_n upon_o his_o head_n a_o man_n will_v think_v that_o a_o wicked_a and_o evil_a deed_n be_v command_v therefore_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o it_o be_v figurative_o speak_v and_o so_o forth_o all_o these_o thing_n do_v convince_v their_o error_n which_o interpret_v sacramental_a speech_n as_o proper_a and_o reject_v all_o figure_n and_o trope_n especial_o in_o the_o institution_n of_o the_o supper_n nevertheless_o i_o be_o not_o ignorant_a what_o they_o set_v against_o this_o last_o testimony_n supper_n of_o s._n augustin_n that_o the_o word_n of_o our_o saviour_n in_o the_o six_o of_o john_n do_v make_v nothing_o to_o the_o interpretation_n of_o the_o ministration_n of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o therefore_o that_o the_o place_n of_o s._n augustine_n do_v nothing_o agree_v to_o our_o purpose_n but_o it_o be_v manifest_a that_o in_o the_o same_o book_n s._n augustine_n dispute_v of_o sign_n and_o of_o the_o sacramental_a speech_n and_o that_o be_v manifest_a also_o by_o many_o other_o place_n out_o of_o saint_n augustine_n that_o he_o often_o allege_v these_o word_n of_o our_o saviour_n out_o of_o the_o six_o of_o john_n to_o expound_v the_o celebration_n of_o the_o supper_n but_o why_o do_v they_o nothing_o pertain_v to_o the_o celebration_n of_o the_o supper_n do_v he_o speak_v of_o one_o body_n in_o the_o supper_n and_o of_o a_o other_o in_o the_o 6._o chap._n of_o john_n shall_v we_o believe_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v and_o have_v two_o body_n our_o lord_n jesus_n have_v but_o one_o body_n the_o which_o as_o it_o profit_v nothing_o be_v eat_v corporal_o according_a to_o s._n john_n 6._o chapter_n even_o so_o that_o body_n be_v corporal_o eat_v do_v nothing_o avail_n according_a to_o s_o mat._n 26._o chapter_n but_o this_o matter_n we_o have_v elsewhere_o handle_v and_o of_o as_o little_a force_n be_v this_o unsavoury_a objection_n of_o they_o which_o be_v that_o the_o consequence_n be_v false_a when_o we_o argue_v thus_o circumcision_n new_a be_v the_o covenant_n the_o lamb_n be_v the_o passoever_o sacrifice_n be_v sin_n and_o sanctification_n or_o cleanse_n be_v sacramental_a speech_n mystical_a and_o figurative_a therefore_o this_o also_o this_o be_v my_o body_n be_v a_o mystical_a and_o figurative_a speech_n for_o since_o in_o sacrament_n there_o be_v the_o like_a reason_n why_o may_v we_o not_o frame_v argument_n from_o the_o one_o to_o the_o other_o and_o that_o sacrament_n have_v the_o like_a reason_n it_o be_v receive_v of_o all_o they_o which_o acknowledge_v the_o truth_n aright_o and_o it_o shall_v be_v prove_v hereafter_o to_o the_o full_a but_o if_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a to_o reason_n from_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n and_o by_o they_o after_o a_o certain_a comparison_n to_o interpret_v we_o and_o by_o we_o to_o make_v they_o plain_a true_o then_o the_o apostle_n do_v not_o well_o who_o by_o a_o false_a consequent_a by_o comparison_n we_o read_v to_o have_v argue_v from_o their_o sacrament_n unto_o we_o in_o the_o 1._o cor._n 10._o and_o to_o the_o coloss_n

blood_n of_o christ_n which_o eat_v and_o drink_v the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o the_o lord_n also_o that_o they_o be_v purge_v from_o their_o sin_n and_o regenerate_v into_o a_o new_a life_n which_o be_v baptize_v in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o that_o baptism_n be_v the_o wash_n away_o of_o all_o our_o sin_n and_o after_o this_o manner_n speak_v the_o scripture_n and_o this_o form_n of_o speech_n keep_v the_o old_a doctor_n of_o the_o church_n who_o for_o so_o do_v none_o that_o be_v wise_a do_v dispraise_v neither_o can_v one_o discommend_v any_o man_n which_o speak_v after_o this_o manner_n so_o that_o he_o also_o abide_v in_o the_o same_o sincerity_n wherein_o it_o be_v manifest_a that_o those_o holy_a man_n of_o god_n do_v walk_v for_o as_o they_o do_v willing_o and_o simple_o use_v those_o speech_n so_o do_v they_o not_o rough_o &_o rigorous_o strain_v the_o letter_n and_o speech_n they_o do_v interpret_v they_o in_o such_o sort_n that_o none_o be_v so_o unskilful_a but_o that_o he_o may_v understand_v that_o the_o sign_n be_v not_o that_o thing_n itself_o which_o they_o signify_v but_o that_o the_o sign_n do_v take_v the_o name_n of_o the_o thing_n therefore_o they_o use_v word_n significative_o sacramental_o mystical_o and_o figurative_o now_o whereas_o some_o will_v not_o have_v expound_v the_o sacramental_a speech_n to_o be_v expound_v as_o though_o be_v not_o expound_v they_o be_v of_o more_o authority_n majesty_n and_o worthiness_n this_o draw_v after_o it_o a_o sore_a danger_n and_o give_v a_o most_o grievous_a offence_n and_o be_v repugnant_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o the_o apostle_n to_o sound_v reason_n and_o to_o the_o custom_n of_o they_o of_o old_a for_o when_o these_o kind_n of_o speech_n be_v set_v forth_o and_o utter_v to_o the_o simple_a sort_n be_v not_o expound_v to_o wit_n the_o bread_n be_v the_o body_n of_o christ_n when_o thou_o drinck_a the_o wine_n of_o the_o lord_n thou_o godliness_n or_o else_o exclude_v from_o the_o mystery_n for_o so_o they_o speak_v that_o those_o which_o come_v after_o they_o and_o can_v understand_v and_o right_o expound_v they_o may_v reveal_v a_o second_o grace_n unlike_o to_o the_o former_a but_o yet_o ensue_v in_o the_o church_n of_o god_n therefore_o they_o which_o expound_v they_o ought_v not_o so_o to_o speak_v as_o if_o they_o by_o
