all_o this_o allege_v forsooth_o that_o we_o may_v understande_v that_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a for_o such_o as_o be_v guide_n of_o the_o lord_n flock_n to_o live_v in_o any_o other_o state_n then_o in_o that_o the_o lord_n give_v example_n of_o for_o whosoever_o seek_v christ_n say_v they_o in_o other_o state_n and_o sort_n than_o he_o give_v example_n of_o seek_v not_o christ_n but_o antichrist_n and_o the_o pomp_n of_o the_o world_n so_o that_o the_o sense_n and_o effect_n of_o the_o reason_n be_v this_o christ_n be_v bear_v breed_v and_o live_v in_o poverty_n and_o choose_v unto_o he_o apostle_n of_o poor_a condition_n therefore_o bishop_n and_o minister_n of_o the_o church_n must_v have_v no_o land_n or_o possession_n but_o stay_v themselves_o in_o like_a poor_a state_n as_o christ_n and_o his_o apostle_n do_v i_o do_v not_o frame_v this_o argument_n good_a reader_n of_o purpose_n to_o cavil_n but_o to_o admonish_v thou_o of_o the_o principal_a state_n and_o that_o with_o the_o scripture_n sure_o that_o we_o do_v in_o so_o earnest_a manner_n pull_v they_o from_o the_o interpretation_n of_o the_o father_n &_o of_o the_o church_n to_o the_o end_n that_o by_o apply_v they_o according_a to_o our_o own_o fantasy_n we_o may_v set_v forth_o and_o seem_v to_o justify_v to_o the_o world_n what_o doctrine_n soever_o we_o shall_v think_v good_a ourselves_o and_o so_o shall_v this_o be_v a_o occasion_n to_o discredit_v all_o the_o particular_a doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o hitherto_o as_o well_o this_o church_n of_o england_n as_o other_o church_n reform_v have_v teach_v but_o to_o understande_v the_o weight_n of_o this_o reason_n before_o use_v against_o the_o wealthy_a live_n of_o our_o clergy_n we_o must_v try_v it_o by_o a_o right_n and_o just_a balance_n that_o be_v by_o the_o true_a meaning_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n first_o therefore_o let_v we_o consider_v the_o cause_n of_o christ_n poverty_n and_o of_o the_o choice_n of_o such_o apostle_n which_o in_o my_o opinion_n be_v two_o the_o one_o be_v apostle_n the_o necessity_n of_o our_o redemption_n the_o other_o be_v a_o example_n and_o just_a instruction_n set_v forth_o unto_o christian_n as_o touch_v the_o first_o when_o the_o certain_a purpose_n of_o god_n have_v determine_v that_o his_o son_n shall_v come_v into_o the_o world_n to_o work_v the_o redemption_n of_o mankind_n and_o his_o deliverance_n from_o sin_n necessary_a it_o be_v for_o he_o to_o satisfy_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n in_o sustain_v all_o those_o difficulty_n and_o punishment_n that_o be_v that_o the_o prophet_n esay_n speak_v of_o long_o before_o he_o be_v despise_v and_o abhor_v of_o man_n he_o be_v such_o a_o man_n as_o 53._o have_v good_a experience_n of_o sorrow_n and_o infirmity_n we_o reckon_v he_o so_o vile_a that_o we_o hide_v our_o face_n from_o he_o howbeit_o he_o only_o have_v take_v our_o infirmity_n on_o he_o and_o bear_v our_o pain_n yet_o we_o do_v judge_v he_o as_o poverty_n therefore_o be_v willing_a not_o of_o any_o necessity_n of_o holiness_n as_o i_o have_v say_v but_o to_o bear_v that_o which_o for_o sin_n be_v due_a to_o us._n now_o i_o pray_v you_o mark_z respect_n he_o do_v so_o by_o his_o example_n he_o teach_v we_o humbleness_n and_o modesty_n that_o we_o may_v not_o be_v loath_a to_o do_v those_o thing_n that_o he_o do_v for_o the_o benefit_n &_o commodity_n of_o our_o christian_a brother_n if_o we_o so_o swell_v with_o pride_n that_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o nobleness_n or_o birth_n or_o great_a estate_n in_o the_o world_n we_o disdain_v other_o and_o think_v our_o poor_a neighbour_n do_v we_o injury_n if_o he_o in_o respect_n of_o christian_a brotherhood_n require_v of_o we_o a_o benefit_n for_o his_o better_a relief_n then_o be_v it_o time_n for_o we_o to_o behold_v the_o son_n of_o god_n lie_v poor_o in_o a_o crib_n or_o manger_n between_o beast_n who_o although_o he_o be_v god_n eternal_a with_o his_o father_n and_o by_o his_o mother_n bear_v of_o the_o most_o noble_a family_n of_o many_o king_n and_o prophet_n yet_o for_o our_o sake_n he_o do_v so_o humble_a &_o debase_v himself_o that_o he_o come_v in_o so_o poor_a and_o vile_a condition_n before_o man_n furthermore_o christ_n by_o his_o example_n have_v as_o it_o be_v consecrate_v poverty_n trouble_n misery_n and_o affliction_n that_o they_o may_v not_o be_v account_v token_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n or_o such_o thing_n as_o do_v hinder_v true_a piety_n &_o holiness_n or_o let_v the_o salvation_n of_o our_o soul_n for_o as_o man_n nature_n do_v abhor_v all_o affliction_n so_o chief_o do_v man_n think_v poverty_n and_o need_n to_o be_v not_o only_o one_o of_o the_o great_a misery_n that_o can_v happen_v to_o man_n but_o also_o hateful_a to_o god_n himself_o thus_o we_o see_v man_n common_o to_o think_v of_o such_o as_o be_v any_o way_n fall_v into_o poverty_n &_o misery_n let_v job_n hereof_o be_v a_o example_n in_o this_o cause_n also_o it_o be_v expedient_a for_o we_o to_o look_v upon_o our_o poor_a christ_n and_o to_o set_v he_o before_o our_o eye_n that_o we_o may_v both_o more_o patient_o bear_v these_o thing_n when_o for_o god_n cause_n they_o light_v upon_o we_o and_o more_o charitable_o judge_v of_o other_o who_o god_n therewith_o touch_v yea_o it_o be_v good_a to_o teach_v we_o to_o pull_v down_o our_o bristle_n when_o we_o wax_v proud_a of_o those_o gift_n of_o plenty_n and_o riches_n that_o god_n have_v give_v us._n thus_o you_o see_v what_o profit_n the_o example_n of_o christ_n poverty_n bring_v but_o i_o pray_v the_o example_n of_o christ_n life_n must_v stretch_v further_a than_o to_o bishop_n and_o minister_n it_o be_v a_o far_o true_a argument_n to_o say_v christ_n live_v a_o simple_a and_o poor_a life_n while_o he_o be_v here_o on_o earth_n therefore_o all_o christian_n ought_v to_o live_v in_o the_o same_o manner_n that_o he_o do_v then_o to_o apply_v the_o same_o only_a to_o minister_n and_o ecclesiastical_a person_n therefore_o i_o will_v all_o christian_n to_o beware_v of_o this_o heretical_a and_o anbaptisticall_a assertion_n whosoever_o seek_v christ_n in_o other_o state_n and_o sort_n than_o he_o give_v example_n of_o seek_v not_o christ_n but_o antichrist_n and_o the_o pomp_n of_o the_o world_n for_o if_o this_o sentence_n be_v apply_v to_o the_o example_n of_o the_o poor_a be_v personal_a and_o for_o a_o time_n only_o not_o general_a or_o perpetual_a for_o that_o which_o go_v before_o may_v seem_v to_o take_v away_o the_o continuance_n of_o these_o precept_n go_v not_o in_o the_o way_n of_o the_o gentile_n but_o to_o the_o lose_a sheep_n of_o the_o house_n of_o israel_n which_o precept_n the_o apostle_n at_o this_o time_n observe_v but_o afterward_o they_o preach_v the_o gospel_n unto_o all_o the_o nation_n of_o the_o earth_n so_o do_v they_o think_v that_o christ_n for_o the_o time_n of_o this_o message_n only_o command_v they_o to_o possess_v no_o gold_n nor_o silver_n etc._n etc._n &_o from_o thenceforth_o that_o this_o commandment_n be_v abrogate_a this_o interpretation_n i_o can_v reject_v as_o evil_n or_o not_o pertinent_a to_o the_o meaning_n of_o not_o touch_v any_o money_n they_o will_v wear_v no_o whole_a shoe_n they_o will_v not_o have_v a_o staff_n to_o walk_v with_o think_v that_o they_o show_v themselves_o the_o holy_a servant_n of_o god_n therein_o to_o this_o interpretation_n very_o nighly_a come_v that_o which_o these_o man_n use_v to_o prove_v that_o bishop_n &_o preacher_n may_v have_v no_o land_n nor_o possession_n nor_o riches_n no_o nor_o money_n further_a than_o will_v bare_o provide_v they_o meat_n and_o drink_v and_o cloth_n &_o whatsoever_o be_v above_o to_o be_v of_o superfluity_n some_o other_o think_v that_o
