their_o wealth_n peace_n and_o prosperity_n among_o many_o other_o such_o but_o if_o it_o be_v due_o consider_v peace_n what_o good_a may_v have_v be_v do_v through_o our_o land_n in_o this_o long_a time_n of_o peace_n and_o plenty_n and_o how_o the_o opportunity_n even_o the_o time_n of_o our_o visitation_n as_o fit_a for_o holy_a duty_n as_o fair_a weather_n for_o harvest_n have_v be_v over-slipped_n that_o i_o say_v no_o more_o it_o ought_v just_o to_o wring_v out_o plenty_n of_o tear_n for_o so_o great_a transgression_n but_o i_o will_v contain_v myself_o use_v our_o saviour_n be_v convert_v as_o that_o we_o may_v say_v of_o they_o compare_v to_o the_o best_a servant_n of_o god_n the_o lamb_n and_o the_o lion_n do_v eat_v together_o 7.8_o but_o to_o let_v these_o go_v as_o too_o gross_a i_o will_v wish_v such_o to_o weigh_v these_o scripture_n aright_o who_o will_v take_v no_o nay_o but_o that_o they_o belong_v to_o god_n election_n when_o yet_o their_o goodness_n be_v as_o the_o morning_n dew_n soon_o vanish_v and_o blow_v away_o or_o as_o a_o cake_n half_o bake_v let_v they_o see_v how_o well_o this_o become_v they_o to_o be_v sometime_o forward_o sometime_o for_o every_o small_a trifle_n and_o yet_o not_o once_o tremble_v for_o it_o nor_o say_v 8.6_o what_o have_v i_o do_v or_o else_o loose_a vain_a and_o foolish_a by_o other_o occasion_n and_o all_o this_o without_o repentance_n where_o be_v his_o testimony_n that_o his_o heart_n be_v a_o good_a treasury_n and_o nursery_n of_o good_a thing_n when_o his_o tongue_n shall_v be_v walk_v not_o only_o unnecessary_o and_o idle_o but_o in_o unsavourie_a and_o offensive_a speech_n in_o foolish_a jest_n taunt_a rail_a mock_a lie_a swear_v slander_a currish_a and_o churlish_a speak_n how_o be_v the_o power_n and_o member_n of_o the_o body_n in_o subjection_n as_o a_o wife_n unto_o the_o power_n of_o christ_n which_o rule_v as_o a_o husband_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o god_n beloved_a one_o where_o be_v those_o man_n religion_n which_o s._n 1.26_o james_n bold_o say_v be_v none_o where_o the_o tongue_n be_v thus_o ungoverned_a what_o show_v soever_o be_v make_v thereof_o and_o so_o i_o may_v have_v join_v with_o faith_n virtue_n and_o godliness_n patience_n temperance_n and_o that_o who_o so_o believe_v be_v thereby_o turn_v from_o his_o old_a conversation_n for_o i_o own_o part_n sound_a i_o have_v long_o mislike_v this_o haste_n and_o sudden_a show_n of_o great_a repentance_n in_o man_n who_o in_o their_o first_o acquaintance_n with_o the_o word_n
the_o same_o 19_o that_o we_o 4.7.8_o exercise_v our_o faith_n by_o take_v comfort_n and_o delight_n in_o the_o great_a benefit_n of_o our_o redemption_n by_o christ_n and_o the_o fruition_n of_o god_n presence_n in_o his_o glorious_a and_o bless_a kingdom_n 20._o last_o that_o we_o make_v not_o these_o holy_a practice_n of_o repentance_n common_a in_o time_n nor_o use_v they_o for_o course_n and_o these_o i_o have_v set_v down_o to_o help_v thou_o to_o meditate_v and_o who_o see_v not_o now_o by_o that_o which_o have_v be_v say_v that_o a_o good_a heart_n may_v be_v able_a to_o meditate_v that_o as_o the_o exercise_n itself_o be_v both_o very_a needful_a for_o all_o christian_n and_o many_o way_n gainful_a so_o none_o may_v have_v just_a cause_n to_o complain_v that_o they_o can_v tell_v how_o to_o make_v use_n of_o it_o but_o let_v we_o remember_v that_o beside_o the_o benefit_n and_o gain_v of_o it_o it_o be_v one_o of_o the_o private_a help_n that_o god_n in_o his_o wise_a and_o merciful_a providence_n ordain_v for_o his_o dear_a child_n to_o make_v their_o life_n sweet_a and_o comfortable_a here_o meditation_n which_o otherwise_o will_v be_v irksome_a and_o painful_a even_o to_o they_o who_o be_v best_a able_a to_o pass_v it_o well_o and_o therefore_o to_o neglect_v it_o shall_v not_o only_o be_v gross_a unthankfulnes_n but_o a_o charge_v of_o the_o lord_n with_o a_o work_n mere_o needless_a let_v we_o also_o for_o the_o better_a hearten_v of_o ourselves_o hereunto_o consider_v the_o uncertainty_n and_o shortness_n of_o our_o life_n and_o the_o warning_n which_o god_n have_v give_v we_o of_o our_o mortality_n not_o only_o by_o the_o doctrine_n of_o his_o word_n and_o common_a experience_n but_o more_o especial_o within_o these_o few_o year_n by_o take_v from_o we_o so_o many_o worthy_a instrument_n of_o his_o glory_n as_o i_o must_v needs_o say_v if_o it_o be_v well_o weigh_v will_v work_v in_o we_o a_o less_o desire_n to_o live_v see_v they_o live_v not_o with_o us._n and_o this_o among_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o vexation_n and_o molestation_n of_o this_o life_n shall_v whet_v and_o sharpen_v we_o to_o meditation_n 23.28_o that_o we_o may_v the_o more_o shake_v off_o the_o burden_n and_o weight_n of_o the_o inordinat_a desire_n of_o live_v here_o as_o bolt_n from_o our_o heel_n but_o as_o it_o be_v too_o true_a that_o the_o righteous_a perish_v and_o no_o man_n almost_o consider_v it_o that_o they_o be_v take_v away_o from_o the_o evil_n which_o shall_v meet_v with_o such_o as_o remain_v behind_o so_o who_o be_v meet_v to_o hear_v our_o saviour_n word_n weep_v for_o yourselves_o and_o for_o your_o child_n and_o therefore_o to_o muse_v and_o think_v deep_o of_o it_o that_o he_o may_v do_v it_o so_o that_o shall_v say_v there_o be_v none_o that_o ponder_v in_o his_o heart_n how_o god_n be_v offend_v 4.15_o paul_n will_v timothy_n to_o meditate_v and_o thorough_o exercise_v and_o season_v his_o mind_n with_o the_o doctrine_n which_o he_o deliver_v to_o the_o people_n even_o to_o be_v take_v up_o of_o it_o that_o both_o he_o himself_o may_v be_v thorough_o season_v with_o the_o doctrine_n for_o every_o part_n of_o his_o life_n &_o that_o he_o may_v feed_v his_o hearer_n the_o more_o plentiful_o minister_n but_o alas_o how_o slight_o be_v the_o apostle_n admonition_n regard_v of_o a_o number_n even_o in_o the_o ministry_n who_o though_o some_o of_o they_o read_v much_o and_o teach_v good_a thing_n in_o their_o sermon_n when_o they_o do_v preach_v yet_o have_v they_o small_a use_n of_o their_o knowledge_n neither_o deliver_v any_o thing_n by_o their_o own_o meditation_n more_o than_o they_o find_v in_o their_o commentary_n whereas_o if_o they_o do_v they_o shall_v draw_v abundant_a matter_n out_o of_o their_o private_a reading_n beside_o that_o many_o receive_v whatsoever_o they_o find_v in_o their_o book_n see_v they_o meditate_v not_o upon_o it_o and_o so_o as_o they_o can_v the_o less_o speak_v private_o of_o the_o same_o thing_n which_o they_o deliver_v public_o to_o the_o edify_a and_o consolation_n of_o he_o who_o demand_v a_o question_n of_o they_o see_v they_o speak_v only_o out_o of_o the_o book_n even_o so_o they_o be_v the_o meanly_a and_o more_o weak_o furnish_v with_o the_o doctrine_n which_o they_o teach_v to_o make_v their_o life_n fruitful_a because_o they_o do_v not_o weigh_v the_o use_n benefit_n and_o necessity_n of_o the_o doctrine_n in_o their_o heart_n and_o this_o beside_o other_o great_a inconvenience_n cause_v some_o to_o fill_v their_o sermon_n with_o authority_n of_o man_n to_o prove_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n which_o be_v all_o one_o as_o to_o set_v up_o a_o candle_n to_o give_v light_n at_o noon_n tide_n and_o to_o prop_v and_o hold_v up_o a_o great_a and_o weighty_a build_n with_o a_o weak_a and_o slender_a pillar_n so_o that_o this_o be_v just_o to_o be_v complain_v of_o in_o the_o minister_n or_o people_n if_o they_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o this_o meditation_n as_o for_o the_o objection_n of_o the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o that_o they_o have_v the_o world_n to_o look_v after_o objection_n and_o to_o care_n for_o for_o this_o be_v the_o probabl_a defence_n that_o they_o have_v for_o the_o omit_v and_o neglect_v of_o it_o they_o shall_v know_v it_o to_o be_v their_o sin_n that_o they_o will_v thus_o set_v god_n against_o himself_o answer_n as_o though_o he_o shall_v command_v they_o to_o do_v that_o which_o hinder_v they_o from_o a_o other_o duty_n command_v nay_o rather_o they_o shall_v think_v that_o follow_v of_o the_o world_n to_o be_v too_o much_o which_o be_v not_o moderate_v and_o order_v by_o the_o due_a consider_v how_o far_o and_o in_o what_o manner_n they_o shall_v deal_v in_o the_o world_n that_o be_v not_o to_o be_v hinder_v from_o holiness_n by_o it_o if_o they_o be_v rich_a they_o have_v the_o less_o cause_n to_o be_v hold_v from_o it_o by_o worldly_a care_n if_o they_o be_v poor_a they_o have_v the_o more_o need_n of_o it_o to_o moderate_v their_o care_n that_o it_o exceed_v not_o nor_o carry_v they_o to_o unbelief_n for_o it_o must_v be_v remember_v that_o i_o speak_v of_o such_o as_o say_v they_o esteem_v most_o precious_o of_o the_o great_a riches_n example_n which_o be_v godliness_n and_o what_o example_n so_o ever_o they_o have_v of_o the_o contrary_a in_o the_o multitude_n of_o worldling_n among_o who_o they_o live_v yet_o they_o must_v know_v though_o other_o will_v not_o that_o they_o be_v not_o set_v here_o in_o their_o place_n and_o calling_n to_o do_v as_o loose_v and_o reckless_a servant_n when_o they_o go_v to_o market_n who_o when_o they_o shall_v buy_v provision_n for_o their_o master_n family_n neglect_v that_o which_o they_o shall_v chief_o intend_v and_o fall_v to_o drink_v play_z and_o other_o ill_a rule_n with_o their_o companion_n neither_o shall_v they_o be_v like_o bad_a husband_n who_o reckon_v what_o they_o have_v come_v in_o but_o not_o what_o must_v go_v out_o of_o their_o hand_n who_o be_v not_o like_a to_o uphold_v their_o occupy_v long_o but_o they_o must_v be_v like_o the_o wise_a builder_n 14.30_o who_o look_v whether_o he_o be_v able_a to_o make_v a_o end_n when_o he_o have_v begin_v so_o shall_v they_o every_o while_n be_v look_v and_o wise_o consider_v whether_o they_o take_v the_o course_n to_o finish_v the_o build_n of_o their_o christian_n life_n even_o to_o the_o full_a perfect_a of_o it_o which_o be_v another_o manner_n building_n than_o any_o make_v with_o hand_n and_o he_o that_o will_v meditate_v on_o this_o serious_o and_o such_o other_o good_a thing_n as_o further_o this_o he_o shall_v not_o need_v to_o fear_v the_o fall_n of_o his_o building_n but_o that_o it_o shall_v stand_v in_o all_o weather_n till_o he_o inherit_v a_o building_n make_v without_o hand_n which_o be_v immortal_a and_o he_o that_o love_v to_o smell_v on_o the_o sweet_a savour_n more_o fragrant_a than_o aaron_n ointment_n which_o in_o his_o soliloquy_n with_o god_n and_o in_o his_o meditation_n he_o receive_v of_o he_o even_o the_o sweet_a odour_n and_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n he_o shall_v smell_v of_o god_n presence_n in_o his_o talk_n company_n and_o deal_n which_o will_v testify_v that_o he_o come_v from_o god_n and_o especial_o on_o the_o sabbath_n when_o the_o whole_a day_n be_v appoint_v of_o god_n to_o it_o
the_o lord_n shall_v there_o wipe_v away_o every_o tear_n from_o the_o eye_n of_o his_o child_n and_o they_o which_o sow_v in_o tear_n before_o here_o on_o earth_n shall_v there_o reap_v in_o joy_n death_n shall_v no_o more_o reign_n neither_o shall_v there_o be_v any_o more_o lamentation_n nor_o cry_v nor_o sorrow_n and_o for_o the_o glory_n beauty_n pleasure_n and_o eternity_n which_o shall_v it_o 3.5_o and_o make_v like_a to_o the_o glorious_a body_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o be_v glorious_a itself_o also_o the_o use_n be_v comfort_n and_o such_o a_o wait_a for_o the_o come_n of_o the_o it_o with_o my_o eye_n but_o lo_o the_o one_o half_a be_v not_o tell_v i_o for_o thou_o have_v more_o wisdom_n and_o and_o prosperity_n than_o i_o have_v hear_v by_o report_n so_o it_o may_v be_v say_v by_o god_n people_n who_o have_v already_o in_o heaven_n a_o taste_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o kingdom_n it_o be_v a_o true_a report_n which_o we_o hear_v by_o the_o mouth_n of_o his_o preacher_n concern_v the_o tiding_n of_o salvation_n &_o their_o other_o prerogative_n yet_o the_o one_o half_a of_o our_o prosperity_n &_o happiness_n be_v not_o declare_v and_o make_v know_v for_o we_o have_v great_a than_o be_v report_v in_o their_o message_n and_o if_o they_o find_v it_o so_o great_a in_o heaven_n can_v the_o taste_v thereof_o choose_v but_o be_v sweet_a and_o great_a which_o we_o have_v here_o on_o earth_n 23.5_o even_o as_o balaam_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n prophesy_v of_o his_o people_n the_o israelite_n when_o he_o look_v upon_o they_o dwelling_n according_a to_o their_o tribe_n how_o goodly_a be_v thy_o tent_n o_o jacob_n and_o thy_o habitation_n o_o israel_n as_o the_o valley_n be_v they_o stretch_v forth_o and_o as_o garden_n by_o the_o river_n side_n etc._n etc._n and_o as_o all_o these_o privilege_n be_v great_a and_o we_o have_v good_a proof_n that_o god_n have_v give_v his_o dear_a child_n liberty_n to_o enjoy_v they_o so_o this_o further_a commend_v their_o happy_a condition_n that_o they_o may_v know_v that_o all_o these_o belong_v to_o they_o and_o they_o have_v the_o word_n of_o god_n among_o they_o and_o they_o may_v also_o approve_v of_o embrace_v and_o delight_n in_o the_o same_o and_o be_v able_a to_o see_v thereby_o how_o they_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o they_o all_o by_o faith_n and_o how_o thereby_o they_o have_v most_o sweet_a communion_n with_o he_o and_o with_o christ_n by_o his_o spirit_n 14.17_o which_o the_o world_n can_v have_v and_o most_o heavenly_a comfort_n and_o peace_n thereby_o and_o have_v learned_a experience_n for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v may_v get_v wisdom_n to_o carry_v themselves_o in_o every_o estate_n and_o condition_n after_o the_o best_a manner_n of_o christian_n all_o this_o saviour_n be_v a_o plain_a and_o clear_a proof_n to_o his_o disciple_n to_o you_o it_o be_v give_v to_o know_v the_o mystery_n of_o the_o kingdom_n 6.9_o but_o unto_o other_o not_o that_o the_o prophecy_n of_o isaiah_n may_v be_v fulfil_v in_o hear_v they_o shall_v hear_v and_o not_o understand_v and_o see_v they_o shall_v see_v and_o not_o perceive_v lest_o they_o shall_v turn_v &_o i_o not_o so_o that_o although_o the_o unbeliever_n and_o unregenerate_a may_v have_v knowledge_n in_o the_o letter_n 2.28_o yet_o be_v they_o not_o lead_v after_o it_o by_o the_o spirit_n which_o be_v which_o take_v they_o up_o in_o the_o delight_n of_o they_o for_o they_o hate_v to_o be_v reform_v by_o they_o neither_o be_v they_o so_o precious_a in_o their_o eye_n as_o that_o which_o they_o have_v get_v by_o they_o though_o it_o be_v but_o base_a and_o temporary_a whereas_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o reveal_v his_o will_n about_o all_o these_o 119.35_o be_v more_o sweet_a to_o his_o servant_n than_o the_o honey_n comb_n yea_o all_o the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o world_n be_v not_o in_o their_o account_n to_o be_v compare_v to_o the_o wisdom_n thereof_o 2._o but_o that_o which_o be_v say_v of_o the_o man_n of_o god_n that_o he_o have_v more_o pleasure_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n then_o in_o all_o manner_n of_o riches_n and_o that_o they_o be_v the_o joy_n of_o his_o hart_n great_a gain_n in_o both_o then_o in_o any_o other_o condition_n or_o course_n can_v be_v find_v and_o enjoy_v yea_o this_o make_v the_o injoyer_n of_o it_o happy_a here_o and_o certain_a that_o afterward_o they_o shall_v be_v happy_a for_o ever_o and_o though_o sathan_n do_v much_o quail_v this_o by_o occasion_n of_o trouble_n and_o our_o frailty_n yet_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o it_o shall_v be_v recover_v again_o this_o in_o few_o word_n be_v that_o which_o i_o wish_v the_o true_a christian_a reader_n to_o meditate_v on_o and_o consider_v which_o all_o god_n people_n have_v so_o send_v they_o more_o earnest_o to_o groan_v to_o he_o by_o prayer_n that_o they_o may_v receive_v and_o take_v these_o thing_n to_o their_o comfort_n which_o he_o for_o that_o very_a cause_n have_v commit_v to_o writing_n that_o those_o his_o child_n which_o be_v bring_v low_a and_o into_o distress_n and_o almost_o to_o utter_v despair_n may_v lift_v up_o their_o head_n and_o rejoice_v for_o so_o great_a hope_n of_o redemption_n and_o deliverance_n at_o hand_n come_v towards_o they_o and_o this_o will_v recompense_v abundant_o all_o the_o labour_n that_o have_v be_v take_v and_o need_v call_v man_n to_o be_v partaker_n of_o so_o excellent_a privilege_n and_o appoint_v for_o they_o such_o variety_n of_o blessing_n whereof_o i_o have_v mention_v but_o some_o part_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o ignorant_a as_o not_o to_o desire_v to_o know_v they_o so_o careless_a as_o to_o reject_v they_o so_o obstinate_a as_o to_o tread_v they_o under_o foot_n and_o so_o to_o lead_v a_o persuade_v that_o god_n have_v provide_v this_o liberty_n for_o his_o in_o this_o world_n 126.5_o when_o both_o scripture_n call_v our_o life_n here_o when_o we_o be_v in_o great_a prosperity_n a_o wander_a up_o and_o down_o heavy_o as_o in_o a_o pilgrimage_n or_o wilderness_n and_o a_o sow_v in_o tear_n that_o be_v to_o say_v full_a of_o grief_n and_o christ_n tell_v he_o that_o in_o the_o to_o the_o which_o i_o answer_v affirm_v all_o that_o be_v say_v to_o be_v most_o true_a and_o therefore_o see_v our_o trouble_n and_o sorrow_n be_v many_o and_o great_a through_o the_o devil_n malice_n while_o we_o seek_v to_o keep_v ourselves_o unstained_a in_o this_o wretched_a world_n we_o have_v the_o more_o need_n of_o the_o great_a comfort_n neither_o be_v it_o possible_a for_o any_o godly_a man_n to_o go_v through_o they_o if_o he_o be_v not_o full_o resolve_v that_o god_n be_v with_o he_o to_o help_v he_o and_o comfort_v his_o soul_n many_o way_n they_o and_o namely_o in_o this_o wherein_o he_o feel_v his_o need_n great_a and_o therefore_o these_o affliction_n which_o our_o gracious_a god_n have_v appoint_v and_o promise_v to_o bring_v we_o through_o be_v a_o most_o sure_a proof_n of_o this_o which_o i_o say_v namely_o that_o he_o have_v give_v most_o precious_a promise_n and_o prerogative_n to_o we_o by_o the_o which_o only_o we_o can_v be_v able_a to_o go_v testimony_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n which_o be_v a_o continual_a feast_n and_o a_o experience_n of_o his_o fatherly_a love_n towards_o we_o and_o partly_o through_o the_o daily_a success_n and_o blessing_n which_o we_o look_v for_o from_o he_o the_o hope_n whereof_o make_v we_o not_o ashamed_a therefore_o see_v god_n of_o his_o unspeakable_a love_n have_v bequeath_v to_o his_o child_n so_o large_a a_o portion_n even_o a_o taste_n of_o the_o heavenly_a joy_n in_o this_o life_n which_o make_v his_o chastisement_n sweet_a and_o the_o yoke_n of_o his_o commandment_n easy_a unto_o they_o and_o all_o difficulty_n to_o be_v overcome_v of_o they_o and_o pour_v such_o great_a peace_n and_o comfort_n into_o their_o heart_n that_o love_v he_o and_o this_o from_o day_n to_o day_n restrain_v they_o of_o it_o at_o no_o time_n except_o it_o be_v more_o expedient_a for_o they_o to_o want_v it_o what_o shall_v i_o say_v more_o but_o bewail_v that_o so_o few_o find_v it_o and_o pray_v god_n to_o enlarge_v their_o heart_n that_o they_o may_v be_v able_a to_o comprehend_v and_o so_o enjoy_v it_o and_o to_o give_v all_o praise_n to_o his_o majesty_n who_o have_v think_v no_o heavenly_a comfort_n too_o good_a for_o he_o even_o in_o this_o world_n which_o be_v a_o vale_n of_o misery_n rejoice_v and_o as_o for_o such_o as_o think_v that_o it_o be_v weak_a rejoice_v that_o be_v and_o may_v be_v accompany_v with_o so_o many_o affliction_n as_o our_o life_n be_v subject_a to_o they_o must_v know_v that_o such_o correction_n be_v see_v by_o our_o heavenly_a father_n to_o be_v meet_a for_o we_o and_o to_o keep_v we_o from_o vain_a and_o deceitful_a reioicing_n and_o that_o these_o fatherly_a chastisement_n do_v not_o take_v away_o this_o heavenly_a comfort_n from_o we_o but_o they_o rather_o cause_v it_o to_o be_v see_v a_o great_a benefit_n then_o without_o they_o we_o can_v easy_o be_v able_a to_o perceive_v other_o object_n thus_o be_v there_o so_o many_o commodity_n in_o the_o christian_n life_n how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v then_o objection_n that_o they_o show_v it_o not_o forth_o and_o that_o the_o godly_a of_o all_o sort_n poor_a and_o rich_a one_o and_o other_o do_v not_o let_v their_o light_n so_o shine_v among_o man_n that_o they_o may_v cause_v they_o by_o see_v such_o admirable_a thing_n in_o they_o as_o be_v not_o to_o be_v find_v common_o in_o the_o world_n beside_o to_o ask_v &_o haste_v after_o they_o for_o where_o be_v they_o say_v these_o obiecter_n which_o have_v so_o much_o grace_n appear_v in_o they_o above_o other_o man_n in_o their_o deal_n we_o find_v it_o not_o in_o their_o life_n we_o see_v it_o not_o neither_o be_v any_o part_n that_o we_o behold_v in_o they_o such_o as_o deserve_v so_o great_a commendation_n answer_n
