that_o we_o be_v dull_a and_o earthly_a that_o if_o god_n shall_v not_o tell_v we_o that_o he_o have_v his_o temple_n &_o palace_n in_o heaven_n we_o will_v tie_v he_o too_o every_o pillar_n to_o every_o stone_n too_o every_o waterspring_n too_o every_o tree_n &_o too_o be_v short_a too_o
then_o do_v it_o follow_v that_o christ_n intend_v too_o distribute_v his_o gift_n by_o certain_a measure_n and_o thereupon_o we_o have_v too_o conclude_v that_o he_o which_o presume_v of_o himself_o foolish_a overween_a but_o let_v all_o of_o we_o both_o great_a and_o small_a submit_v ourselves_o sober_o too_o the_o order_n that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n have_v set_v which_o be_v that_o such_o as_o have_v great_a skill_n and_o be_v well_o see_v in_o thou_o holy_a scripture_n and_o have_v the_o gift_n of_o teach_v shall_v strain_v themselves_o too_o serve_v the_o whole_a church_n as_o continual_o of_o he_o and_o like_o as_o tree_n draw_v both_o their_o flower_n their_o leaf_n and_o their_o fruit_n from_o their_o root_n and_o like_a as_o the_o body_n of_o man_n feel_v his_o strength_n too_o flow_v down_o from_o the_o head_n so_o do_v we_o feel_v the_o virtue_n and_o force_v of_o the_o conjunction_n that_o be_v between_o we_o and_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o yet_o he_o continue_v still_o in_o his_o full_a state_n all_o the_o while_n neither_o do_v that_o hinder_v we_o too_o enjoy_v the_o inestimable_a benefit_n that_o s._n paul_n magnify_v so_o much_o in_o this_o text_n and_o therewithal_o let_v we_o bear_v this_o point_n in_o mind_n that_o it_o be_v much_o when_o we_o be_v inward_o stir_v up_o to_o do_v every_o man_n his_o duty_n for_o thereby_o but_o for_o this_o transitory_a life_n yet_o have_v god_n set_v it_o afore_o we_o as_o a_o lyvely_a image_n wherein_o i_o see_v that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v my_o head_n and_o that_o i_o belong_v too_o he_o and_o that_o not_o only_o i_o be_o he_o but_o also_o he_o be_v i_o so_o as_o his_o life_n belong_v too_o i_o and_o too_o be_v short_a i_o be_o as_o if_o i_o be_v a_o member_n of_o his_o body_n see_v then_o that_o man_n in_o do_v their_o duty_n towards_o their_o wife_n and_o wife_n also_o in_o obey_v their_o husband_n may_v behold_v how_o they_o be_v join_v unto_o christ_n and_o that_o they_o do_v the_o thing_n
he_o show_v that_o we_o be_v nevertheless_o sure_a of_o it_o for_o all_o that_o and_o that_o nothing_o but_o our_o own_o unthankfulness_n let_v we_o too_o glory_n ful_o in_o god_n and_o too_o say_v with_o full_a mouth_n that_o we_o doubt_v not_o of_o our_o come_n too_o the_o heavenly_a life_n forasmuch_o as_o we_o have_v a_o earnest_a penny_n thereof_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o be_v so_o sort_n cut_v we_o of_o yea_o and_o that_o he_o vouâ—safeth_v not_o too_o pity_v we_o as_o the_o most_o despise_v creature_n of_o the_o world_n lo_o at_o what_o point_n we_o be_v too_o outward_a appearance_n and_o therefore_o it_o stand_v we_o on_o hand_n too_o have_v a_o remedy_n too_o warrant_v ourselves_o withal_o in_o the_o mid_n of_o so_o many_o perplexity_n and_o hartgriefe_n that_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o s._n paul_n say_v purposely_o that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v our_o earnest_a penny_n although_o then_o that_o the_o world_n have_v the_o bridle_n loose_a to_o trample_v we_o under_o his_o foot_n as_o they_o say_v although_o our_o lord_n keep_v we_o occupy_v with_o many_o temptation_n although_o he_o humble_v we_o in_o such_o wise_n as_o it_o may_v seem_v that_o we_o be_v as_o sheep_n appoint_v too_o the_o slaughter_n so_o as_o death_n be_v continual_o between_o our_o tooth_n yet_o be_v we_o not_o unpurveyed_a of_o good_a remedy_n for_o why_o see_v that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n reign_v in_o our_o heart_n we_o have_v whereof_o too_o boast_v even_o in_o the_o mid_n of_o all_o our_o temptation_n according_a as_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o viij_o 15._o too_o the_o roman_n that_o be_v once_o assure_v that_o god_n take_v we_o for_o his_o child_n we_o may_v not_o only_o call_v upon_o he_o but_o also_o although_o we_o be_v afflict_v and_o torment_v yet_o we_o cease_v not_o too_o be_v always_o full_o and_o infallible_o resolve_v that_o he_o be_v our_o father_n too_o lead_v we_o too_o the_o glory_n of_o heaven_n for_o even_o that_o also_o be_v 〈◊〉_d mean_v must_v not_o be_v so_o hasty_a and_o impatient_a as_o we_o have_v be_v wont_v too_o be_v for_o if_o god_n handle_v we_o rough_o by_o and_o by_o we_o fall_v too_o grudge_v and_o be_v very_o loath_a too_o suffer_v any_o thing_n for_o we_o see_v how_o tender_a and_o nice_a we_o be_v of_o nature_n but_o we_o must_v endure_v patient_o because_o god_n will_v not_o have_v we_o too_o come_v too_o his_o kingdom_n at_o one_o leap_n as_o they_o say_v but_o will_v have_v we_o too_o pass_v by_o this_o world_n through_o the_o midd_n of_o thorn_n and_o breer_n so_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v much_o a_o do_v to_o get_v through_o and_o we_o shall_v be_v in_o great_a distress_n see_v that_o he_o will_v have_v we_o lead_v such_o a_o way_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o give_v we_o so_o good_a a_o remedy_n as_o aught_o to_o suffice_v we_o which_o be_v that_o he_o strengthen_v we_o in_o invincible_a constancy_n by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n let_v we_o stand_v in_o a_o readiness_n too_o fight_v till_o the_o time_n of_o victory_n be_v full_o come_v it_o be_v true_a that_o our_o faith_n do_v even_o now_o already_o get_v the_o upper_a hand_n but_o we_o receive_v not_o yet_o the_o fruiteâ—_n of_o it_o neither_o do_v we_o full_o enjoy_v it_o therefore_o we_o must_v determine_v with_o ourselves_o too_o sigh_n and_o groan_v continual_o and_o yet_o therewithal_o too_o rejoice_v also_o for_o why_o too_o rejoice_v in_o our_o heart_n and_o also_o too_o cry_v with_o s._n paul_n alas_o wretched_a wight_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o this_o prison_n of_o my_o body_n be_v thing_n we_o be_v here_o encourage_v too_o take_v heart_n of_o grace_n and_o too_o walk_v in_o such_o constancy_n as_o all_o the_o misery_n of_o the_o world_n may_v not_o stop_v we_o of_o 〈◊〉_d till_o we_o be_v â—â—me_n to_o our_o raze_n end_v and_o that_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o s._n paul_n speak_v purposely_o of_o redemption_n it_o be_v true_a that_o we_o be_v redeem_v by_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n etc_n and_o he_o be_v give_v we_o for_o our_o redemption_n or_o ransom_n as_o be_v say_v in_o another_o text_n yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o have_v not_o the_o effect_n and_o full_a fruition_n lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o thereupon_o trust_v that_o he_o will_v accomplish_v the_o same_o thing_n in_o we_o and_o in_o our_o person_n which_o he_o have_v bring_v we_o in_o his_o own_o the_o thing_n therefore_o that_o s._n paul_n mean_v too_o say_v be_v that_o god_n spirit_n be_v our_o earnest_a penny_n during_o the_o time_n that_o we_o wait_v too_o be_v take_v out_o of_o this_o transitory_a life_n and_o too_o be_v set_v free_a from_o all_o misery_n special_o from_o the_o bondage_n of_o sin_n which_o be_v the_o heavy_a burden_n that_o can_v be_v until_o such_o time_n then_o as_o we_o be_v deliver_v from_o all_o those_o thing_n we_o must_v rest_v upon_o this_o that_o god_n spirit_n dwell_v in_o us._n and_o as_o touch_v the_o redemption_n of_o purchase_n it_o may_v well_o be_v take_v for_o purchase_v redemption_n for_o it_o be_v a_o very_o rife_o manner_n of_o speech_n like_v as_o when_o it_o be_v say_v the_o spirit_n of_o promise_n it_o be_v mean_v the_o spirit_n that_o assure_v or_o warrant_v all_o the_o promise_n the_o spirit_n of_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n because_o it_o be_v he_o that_o make_v we_o obedient_a too_o his_o righteousness_n so_o likewise_o when_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o redemption_n of_o purchase_n it_o may_v well_o be_v say_v that_o it_o be_v the_o redemption_n which_o be_v purchase_v for_o we_o too_o show_v that_o if_o we_o feel_v the_o effect_n of_o it_o in_o ourselves_o so_o as_o we_o be_v out_o of_o all_o doubt_n of_o the_o thing_n
and_o for_o as_o much_o as_o we_o do_v not_o yet_o perceive_v such_o fullness_n of_o god_n grace_n as_o be_v to_o be_v wish_v therefore_o s._n paul_n send_v we_o to_o the_o person_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ._n and_o sure_o if_o he_o have_v not_o add_v that_o god_n have_v utter_v his_o power_n in_o his_o only_a son_n after_o such_o manner_n as_o we_o have_v herd_n it_o what_o a_o thing_n be_v it_o for_o we_o may_v allege_v in_o way_n of_o reply_n howso_o where_o be_v these_o riches_n of_o god_n for_o we_o be_v not_o only_o bereave_v of_o the_o good_n of_o this_o world_n but_o also_o we_o be_v as_o a_o dry_a &_o barren_a gronud_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n holy_a spirit_n if_o there_o be_v any_o portion_n of_o it_o in_o we_o it_o be_v so_o small_a as_o we_o ought_v too_o be_v ashamed_a of_o it_o and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o we_o be_v moreover_o plunge_a in_o our_o infirmity_n if_o you_o speak_v of_o god_n power_n it_o ought_v too_o get_v the_o upper_a hand_n of_o all_o sin_n in_o we_o but_o we_o be_v so_o weak_a that_o we_o be_v as_o good_a as_o beat_v down_o again_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o god_n image_n shall_v shine_v forth_o in_o we_o and_o we_o bear_v such_o store_n of_o filthiness_n and_o such_o blemish_n about_o we_o as_o be_v pity_n too_o see_v we_o shall_v be_v whole_o consecrate_v too_o god_n but_o the_o world_n hold_v we_o back_o and_o we_o be_v as_o it_o be_v snarl_a in_o it_o loe_o how_o the_o faithful_a may_v be_v abash_v when_o any_o talk_n be_v minister_v concern_v god_n grace_n if_o they_o stay_v there_o and_o be_v not_o lead_v forth_o too_o jesus_n christ._n not_o without_o cause_n therefore_o do_v s._n paul_n add_v here_o that_o god_n do_v then_o utter_a the_o excellency_n of_o his_o power_n when_o he_o raze_v our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n from_o death_n and_o he_o speak_v purposely_o of_o his_o resurrection_n because_o that_o in_o his_o death_n we_o see_v nothing_o but_o astonishment_n for_o there_o appear_v nothing_o but_o weakness_n but_o by_o his_o vanquish_a of_o death_n he_o show_v himself_o too_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n yea_o and_o the_o lord_n of_o glory_n and_o life_n who_o â—ad_a all_o power_n in_o himself_o and_o that_o also_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o s._n paul_n say_v that_o god_n do_v set_v he_o at_o his_o right_a hand_n for_o it_o have_v not_o be_v enough_o for_o jesus_n christ_n to_o have_v be_v raze_v again_o except_o he_o have_v a_o continual_a and_o abide_v dominion_n true_a it_o be_v that_o even_o in_o he_o only_o resurrection_n we_o have_v a_o record_n that_o he_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n but_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o we_o must_v pass_v one_o step_n further_o namely_o that_o he_o have_v not_o a_o blast_n of_o power_n and_o away_o but_o that_o by_o hand_n of_o god_n his_o father_n too_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v be_v sure_a that_o all_o thing_n be_v under_o his_o hand_n &_o that_o he_o rule_v the_o whole_a world_n and_o that_o all_o good_a thing_n be_v of_o he_o and_o he_o be_v able_a too_o disappoint_v all_o annoyance_n insomuch_o that_o if_o we_o be_v under_o his_o protection_n we_o may_v defy_v the_o devil_n and_o all_o our_o enemy_n and_o now_o too_o the_o intent_n we_o shall_v learn_v too_o content_a ourselves_o the_o better_a with_o jesus_n christ_n alone_o and_o not_o wander_v here_o and_o there_o as_o we_o be_v wont_v too_o throng_n of_o patron_n and_o advocate_n as_o they_o term_v they_o hope_v too_o be_v well_o welcome_a unto_o god_n but_o by_o what_o warrant_n who_o have_v promise_v they_o that_o god_n will_v accept_v their_o devotion_n and_o all_o that_o they_o offer_v unto_o he_o for_o it_o be_v not_o in_o we_o too_o appoint_v officer_n in_o heaven_n in_o a_o court_n of_o justice_n of_o the_o world_n it_o may_v well_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o course_n as_o they_o term_v it_o and_o it_o may_v lie_v in_o the_o power_n of_o a_o judge_n too_o give_v leave_v too_o who_o he_o list_v too_o plead_v mens_fw-la caces_fw-la too_o the_o intent_n there_o may_v be_v no_o confusion_n but_o if_o we_o will_v make_v advocate_n at_o our_o own_o pleasure_n and_o upon_o our_o own_o head_n in_o heaven_n it_o be_v all_o one_o as_o if_o we_o will_v rob_v god_n of_o his_o authority_n and_o sovereignty_n yea_o and_o we_o must_v bethink_v we_o how_o s._n paul_n say_v that_o all_o our_o prayer_n and_o supplication_n shall_v never_o be_v aught_o worth_a but_o utter_o unprofitable_a and_o vain_a if_o they_o be_v not_o conformable_a to_o god_n word_n so_o as_o we_o take_v our_o rule_n from_o thence_o for_o how_o shall_v we_o call_v upon_o a_o god_n say_v he_o who_o we_o know_v not_o at_o all_o adventure_n and_o how_o shall_v we_o know_v after_o what_o manner_n we_o shall_v pray_v and_o what_o style_n and_o speech_n we_o shall_v use_v 14._o we_o must_v come_v too_o hear_v not_o of_o the_o thing_n that_o man_n shall_v bring_v we_o of_o their_o own_o brain_n but_o of_o the_o thing_n that_o god_n command_v we_o so_o then_o we_o must_v use_v this_o modesty_n and_o sobriety_n and_o not_o speak_v at_o random_n when_o we_o pray_v unto_o god_n but_o simple_o obey_v his_o word_n yea_o and_o we_o know_v that_o prayer_n be_v the_o chief_a sacrifice_n that_o god_n require_v for_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v that_o we_o must_v worship_v the_o only_a one_o god_n _o it_o be_v not_o alone_a with_o ceremony_n as_o with_o kneel_v down_o before_o he_o in_o deed_n that_o be_v requisite_a for_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o we_o shall_v honour_v our_o god_n both_o with_o our_o body_n and_o with_o our_o mind_n because_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n in_o we_o let_v we_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v partaker_n of_o his_o glory_n for_o it_o be_v say_v that_o he_o be_v raise_v again_o from_o the_o dead_a and_o have_v get_v the_o upper_a hand_n of_o it_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n after_o that_o manner_n be_v we_o quicken_v with_o he_o wait_v till_o we_o be_v deliver_v from_o all_o the_o corruptible_a nature_n that_o compass_v we_o about_o and_o now_o s._n paul_n say_v that_o we_o be_v seal_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n 22._o as_o be_v say_v of_o it_o in_o the_o first_o chapter_n heretofore_o and_o in_o other_o place_n beside_o as_o in_o the_o second_o to_o the_o corinthian_n and_o this_o similitude_n be_v very_o fit_a for_o although_o god_n promise_n ought_v to_o be_v of_o sufficient_a authority_n &_o to_o have_v full_a credit_n with_o we_o of_o themselves_o yet_o notwithstanding_o such_o be_v our_o misbeeleef_n that_o we_o can_v give_v credit_n too_o they_o nor_o rest_n upon_o we_o be_v forepossess_v with_o distrust_n &_o on_o the_o other_o side_n we_o be_v always_o doubtful_a and_o misgive_a and_o can_v rest_v upon_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v tell_v we_o in_o god_n name_n by_o reason_n whereof_o his_o promise_n be_v always_o unavailable_a until_o he_o print_v they_o in_o our_o heart_n which_o thing_n he_o do_v by_o his_o holy_a ghost_n for_o as_o a_o piece_n of_o evidence_n be_v make_v authentical_a by_o set_v too_o of_o the_o seal_n so_o god_n warrant_v his_o promise_n of_o our_o salvation_n in_o our_o heart_n by_o sign_v and_o seal_v of_o they_o there_o with_o his_o holy_a spirit_n that_o then_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o it_o be_v so_o often_o say_v that_o god_n spirit_n seal_v up_o the_o inheritance_n of_o our_o salvation_n in_o our_o heart_n and_o for_o the_o same_o cause_n also_o be_v he_o name_v the_o earnest_a penny_n in_o another_o place_n 22._o for_o when_o a_o bargain_n be_v make_v although_o there_o be_v no_o present_a payment_n see_v yet_o if_o a_o earnest_a penny_n be_v give_v the_o bargain_n be_v conclude_v and_o the_o chapman_n can_v say_v afterward_o tush_o i_o repent_v i_o of_o my_o bargain_n and_o i_o willâ—forsake_v it_o neither_o can_v the_o other_o say_v i_o find_v myself_o deceive_v and_o oversee_v and_o therefore_o i_o will_v rather_o keep_v my_o ware_n still_o but_o each_o of_o they_o be_v bind_v the_o one_o why_o for_o as_o i_o say_v god_n bind_v himself_o unto_o we_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o infirmity_n whereunto_o we_o be_v too_o much_o incline_v in_o deed_n it_o be_v not_o for_o that_o he_o owe_v we_o any_o thing_n but_o we_o have_v so_o much_o the_o more_o cause_n too_o magnify_v his_o goodness_n in_o that_o he_o be_v so_o free_a heart_a as_o to_o bind_v himself_o willing_o unto_o we_o whereas_o he_o owe_v we_o not_o any_o thing_n and_o vouâ—safeth_v too_o assure_v we_o of_o it_o because_o he_o see_v we_o so_o feeble_a and_o weak_a like_a as_o when_o he_o swear_v it_o be_v not_o for_o that_o he_o on_o his_o own_o part_n need_v too_o add_v any_o thing_n too_o his_o single_a word_n for_o he_o himself_o be_v the_o truth_n and_o the_o thing_n that_o come_v of_o he_o must_v not_o be_v doubt_v of_o it_o may_v seem_v therefore_o that_o the_o oath_n which_o he_o make_v be_v superfluous_a and_o that_o he_o do_v but_o abuse_v his_o own_o name_n no_o but_o he_o do_v it_o because_o he_o see_v we_o weak_a and_o that_o we_o have_v need_v too_o be_v hold_v up_o many_o way_n and_o special_o because_o he_o see_v we_o give_v too_o misbelief_n and_o therefore_o that_o he_o must_v be_v fain_o too_o remedy_v it_o so_o then_o whensoever_o god_n swear_v therein_o he_o stoop_v unto_o we_o for_o pity_v of_o our_o wretchedness_n and_o the_o seal_n and_o ratify_v of_o his_o promise_n in_o we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n be_v even_o because_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o we_o of_o ourselves_o shall_v believe_v he_o and_o we_o can_v not_o be_v sure_a of_o the_o thing_n that_o he_o promise_v we_o to_o call_v upon_o he_o and_o too_o overcome_v all_o the_o temptation_n of_o the_o world_n unless_o he_o use_v that_o mean_a and_o therefore_o we_o have_v so_o much_o the_o more_o they_o have_v their_o mouth_n open_a too_o spew_v out_o their_o blasphemy_n and_o too_o enter_v into_o disputation_n and_o debate_n show_v themselves_o utter_o unwilling_a too_o receive_v any_o good_a doctrine_n and_o othersome_a fall_v not_o into_o such_o fury_n and_o outrage_n but_o yet_o they_o let_v
birthryght_a nor_o yet_o by_o our_o own_o purchase_n but_o by_o free_a gift_n the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n than_o be_v the_o heavenly_a life_n and_o all_o our_o whole_a happiness_n for_o out_o of_o god_n what_o can_v we_o have_v but_o all_o unhappiness_n therefore_o if_o we_o be_v banish_v out_o of_o god_n kingdom_n we_o must_v needs_o be_v plunge_a in_o all_o misery_n but_o it_o be_v express_o say_v too_o be_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n and_o why_o because_o it_o be_v purchase_v we_o by_o his_o blood_n and_o also_o because_o we_o be_v now_o restore_v again_o too_o the_o state_n from_o may_v by_o that_o mean_a be_v bridle_v and_o our_o lust_n not_o overflow_v so_o outrageous_o but_o that_o sith_o god_n show_v himself_o our_o judge_n we_o may_v at_o leastwyze_n refrain_v too_o resist_v he_o for_o that_o be_v all_o one_o as_o if_o we_o will_v open_o run_v rush_v against_o he_o see_v that_o he_o with_o his_o own_o holy_a mouth_n have_v avow_a we_o too_o be_v banish_v from_o and_o albeit_o that_o our_o lord_n have_v wrought_v in_o we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n it_o do_v not_o therefore_o follow_v that_o we_o be_v so_o well_o reform_v at_o the_o first_o day_n as_o there_o be_v no_o more_o evil_a in_o we_o for_o we_o must_v be_v fain_o too_o keep_v continual_a battle_n through_o repentance_n all_o our_o life_n long_o and_o repentance_n shall_v take_v no_o although_o it_o dwell_v there_o still_o in_o deed_n it_o be_v too_o be_v wish_v that_o there_o be_v no_o sin_n dwell_v in_o we_o and_o that_o we_o be_v all_o like_o the_o angel_n of_o heaven_n but_o saint_n paul_n know_v well_o that_o we_o can_v attain_v too_o that_o so_o long_o as_o we_o dwell_v in_o this_o world_n and_o until_o we_o have_v put_v off_o our_o corruption_n and_o be_v dispatch_v of_o this_o transitory_a life_n will_v we_o yet_o at_o leastwize_n that_o sin_n shall_v not_o reign_v in_o we_o so_o then_o although_o we_o be_v stain_v with_o many_o vice_n yet_o let_v we_o so_o fight_v against_o they_o that_o they_o may_v not_o become_v heinous_a crime_n as_o though_o we_o rebel_v against_o god_n but_o continue_v only_a as_o infirmity_n so_o as_o we_o beseech_v god_n too_o
