for_o sin_n and_o yet_o not_o repent_v it_o so_o that_o tear_n be_v not_o always_o the_o true_a companion_n of_o true_a repentance_n object_n but_o here_o it_o may_v be_v that_o some_o who_o be_v willing_a to_o repent_v and_o ready_a to_o endeavour_n this_o way_n may_v object_v and_o say_v how_o can_v a_o poor_a christian_a take_v any_o comfort_n in_o his_o tear_n if_o tear_n be_v not_o always_o a_o true_a sign_n of_o repentance_n answ._n i_o answer_v for_o all_o this_o that_o there_o be_v two_o way_n whereby_o a_o christian_a may_v find_v comfort_n in_o his_o tear_n 1._o he_o must_v look_v into_o the_o cause_n of_o they_o 2._o he_o must_v look_v into_o the_o effect_n and_o fruit_n of_o they_o he_o must_v look_v into_o the_o cause_n and_o fountain_n from_o whence_o they_o flow_v whether_o it_o be_v for_o fear_n of_o damnation_n and_o of_o hell_n torment_v he_o weep_v or_o not_o for_o these_o may_v make_v a_o wicked_a man_n much_o to_o be_v astonish_v for_o the_o time_n and_o repent_v of_o his_o sin_n as_o act._n 24._o 26._o so_o the_o child_n of_o *_o israel_n when_o the_o lord_n tell_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o enter_v into_o the_o land_n of_o canaan_n repent_v hardness_n he_o have_v sustain_v yea_o i_o say_v all_o this_o do_v not_o so_o much_o grieve_v he_o as_o that_o he_o have_v offend_v his_o good_a father_n the_o like_a we_o see_v by_o david_n psal._n a_o man_n do_v so_o weep_v for_o his_o sin_n as_o that_o by_o and_o by_o he_o be_v ready_a to_o fall_v into_o and_o commit_v the_o same_o sin_n again_o and_o that_o as_o greedy_o and_o careless_o as_o he_o do_v before_o than_o it_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v that_o the_o watery_a tear_n shed_v here_o be_v but_o a_o beginning_n of_o that_o everlasting_a weep_v and_o mourn_v in_o hell_n but_o if_o a_o
