to_o find_v any_o man_n that_o have_v have_v the_o ordinary_a extent_n of_o the_o age_n of_o man_n but_o his_o trouble_n cross_n calamity_n affliction_n have_v overweigh_v and_o exceed_v the_o measure_n of_o his_o comfort_n and_o contentment_n in_o this_o life_n 2._o that_o yet_o those_o affliction_n and_o trouble_n do_v neither_o grow_v up_o by_o a_o certain_a regular_a and_o constant_a to_o humble_a always_o to_o instruct_v and_o teach_v and_o better_a the_o child_n of_o man_n and_o indeed_o if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o end_n but_o these_o that_o follow_v this_o seem_a sharp_a providence_n of_o almighty_n god_n will_v be_v high_o justify_v namely_o first_o to_o keep_v man_n humble_a and_o disciplinable_a man_n be_v a_o proud_a vain_a creature_n and_o be_v that_o humour_n constant_o feed_v with_o prosperity_n and_o success_n it_o will_v strange_o pu_v up_o this_o vain_a humour_n affliction_n and_o trouble_n be_v the_o excellent_a and_o necessary_a corrective_n of_o it_o and_o prick_v this_o swell_a impostumation_n of_o pride_n and_o haughtiness_n which_o will_v otherwise_o render_v man_n intolerable_a in_o themselves_o and_o one_o to_o another_o second_o to_o bring_v mankind_n to_o recognize_v almighty_a god_n to_o seek_v unto_o he_o to_o depend_v upon_o he_o this_o be_v the_o most_o natural_a and_o specifical_a effect_n of_o affliction_n hos_fw-la 5.15_o and_o vexation_n and_o trouble_n of_o this_o world_n and_o by_o these_o plain_a and_o feasible_a document_n to_o carry_v mankind_n up_o to_o the_o end_n of_o their_o being_n god_n know_v those_o few_o and_o little_a comfort_n of_o this_o life_n notwithstanding_o all_o the_o trouble_n and_o cross_n with_o which_o they_o be_v interlard_v be_v apt_a to_o keep_v the_o heart_n even_o of_o good_a man_n in_o too_o great_a love_n of_o this_o world_n what_o will_v become_v of_o we_o if_o our_o whole_a life_n here_o shall_v be_v altogether_o prosperous_a and_o content_v without_o the_o intermixture_n of_o cross_n and_o affliction_n but_o of_o these_o thing_n more_o hereafter_o now_o since_o the_o state_n of_o mankind_n in_o this_o world_n be_v for_o the_o most_o part_n thus_o cloudy_a and_o fear_n be_v over_o than_o he_o fear_v that_o the_o rumour_n of_o his_o wealth_n and_o the_o former_a displeasure_n of_o his_o brother_n esau_n may_v make_v he_o and_o all_o his_o wealth_n a_o prey_n to_o his_o brother_n and_o certain_o have_v not_o the_o immediate_a providence_n of_o almighty_a god_n strange_o interpose_v he_o have_v not_o only_a selt_z the_o difficulty_n and_o unquietness_n of_o his_o great_a wealthy_a condition_n which_o be_v profitable_a for_o his_o instruction_n but_o he_o have_v suffer_v a_o total_a deprivation_n of_o it_o either_o by_o laban_n or_o esau_n or_o at_o least_o by_o the_o neighbour_n of_o the_o shechemite_n exasperate_v by_o the_o treachery_n and_o cruelty_n of_o his_o two_o son_n simeon_n and_o levi._n upon_o these_o and_o many_o more_o consideration_n it_o be_v most_o evident_a that_o a_o state_n of_o mediocrity_n in_o external_o be_v to_o be_v prefer_v before_o a_o estate_n of_o much_o wealth_n honour_n or_o grandeur_n that_o of_o the_o two_o extreme_n poverty_n on_o the_o one_o side_n or_o very_o great_a wealth_n and_o glory_n on_o the_o other_o the_o latter_a be_v in_o truth_n more_o dangerous_a and_o difficult_a than_o the_o former_a but_o that_o agur_n prayer_n a_o state_n of_o mediocrity_n neither_o poverty_n nor_o riches_n but_o food_n convenient_a for_o a_o man_n condition_n be_v the_o most_o desirable_a state_n in_o this_o life_n and_o that_o which_o avoid_v the_o difticulty_n of_o both_o extreme_n i_o will_v willing_o from_o these_o consideration_n therefore_o learn_v to_o attain_v such_o a_o temper_n and_o disposition_n of_o soul_n as_o may_v be_v safe_a and_o useful_a for_o i_o in_o relation_n to_o all_o these_o three_o condition_n of_o life_n which-soev_a of_o they_o the_o divine_a providence_n shall_v send_v unto_o i_o 1._o in_o reference_n to_o a_o mediocrity_n or_o such_o a_o state_n of_o external_o as_o may_v be_v suitable_a to_o the_o exigence_n and_o nature_n of_o my_o condition_n in_o this_o life_n i_o shall_v make_v such_o a_o state_n my_o choice_n and_o not_o my_o trouble_n i_o shall_v with_o all_o thankfulness_n acknowledge_v both_o the_o goodness_n and_o wisdom_n of_o and_o temptation_n of_o both_o extreme_n namely_o great_a want_n and_o great_a wealth_n and_o i_o shall_v bear_v my_o lot_n not_o only_o with_o great_a patience_n and_o quietness_n but_o with_o great_a contentation_n and_o thankfulness_n 2._o in_o reference_n to_o a_o estate_n of_o want_n or_o indagence_n if_o it_o shall_v please_v the_o divine_a providence_n to_o appoint_v that_o condition_n to_o i_o i_o shall_v nevertheless_o comfort_v and_o support_v myself_o with_o such_o consideration_n as_o these_o 1._o though_o my_o condition_n be_v narrow_a and_o necessitous_a yet_o forgetfulness_n of_o god_n luxury_n intemperance_n carnal_a confidence_n and_o security_n contempt_n of_o other_o and_o infinite_a more_o and_o if_o any_o of_o these_o get_v the_o advantage_n they_o
