loser_n they_o will_v keep_v open_a shop_n to_o take_v of_o all_o hand_n insomuch_o that_o they_o will_v not_o only_o sell_v their_o faith_n and_o credit_n but_o their_o honour_n and_o honesty_n also_o even_o in_o open_a sight_n and_o will_v keep_v open_a fair_a and_o market_n to_o utter_v all_o wickedness_n to_o be_v short_a they_o will_v show_v themselves_o extreme_a impudent_a with_o a_o pure_a and_o clean_a faith_n whatsoever_o god_n speak_v unto_o us._n moreover_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v not_o be_v abash_v to_o see_v man_n so_o wicked_o bend_v as_o to_o fight_v benefit_n which_o he_o offer_v we_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v be_v find_v blameless_a of_o this_o unthankfulnes_n whereof_o the_o prophet_n accuse_v &_o condemn_v here_o all_o such_o as_o will_v to_o swallow_v we_o up_o thus_o we_o see_v that_o our_o salvation_n have_v no_o sure_a ground_n work_n in_o this_o world_n and_o therefore_o must_v we_o stay_v ourselves_o upon_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n 14_o isaiah_n 8._o 14_o wherefore_o see_v why_o it_o be_v say_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v place_v as_o a_o precious_a stone_n upon_o which_o the_o temple_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v build_v benefit_n of_o his_o death_n and_o passion_n and_o tell_v we_o that_o his_o blood_n be_v always_o fresh_a according_a to_o the_o say_n of_o the_o apostle_n to_o the_o hebrew_n that_o it_o be_v not_o doctrine_n and_o because_o we_o see_v that_o at_o this_o day_n some_o jest_n and_o mock_v and_o other_o some_o wax_n proud_a &_o presumptuous_a and_o think_v by_o their_o righteousness_n to_o satisfy_v god_n let_v we_o deny_v all_o such_o blasphemy_n and_o in_o true_a faith_n and_o repentance_n seek_v for_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o with_o all_o our_o affection_n submit_v attempt_v nothing_o which_o he_o command_v we_o not_o we_o see_v also_o the_o say_n of_o saint_n paul_n that_o whatsoever_o be_v not_o of_o faith_n be_v sin_n now_o if_o god_n leave_v we_o in_o do_v all_o the_o world_n through_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o god_n shall_v universal_o be_v worship_v no_o doubt_n of_o it_o the_o pope_n with_o all_o his_o college_n of_o cardinal_n and_o all_o other_o his_o dear_a friend_n the_o romanistes_n will_v conclude_v upon_o this_o place_n that_o there_o must_v needs_o be_v sacrifice_n have_v and_o therefore_o when_o they_o will_v have_v their_o mass_n allow_v they_o bring_v in_o this_o testimony_n of_o the_o scripture_n howbeit_o if_o it_o be_v so_o as_o they_o make_v themselves_o believe_v sure_o sure_o they_o must_v needs_o conclude_v that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v not_o yet_o appear_v nor_o that_o his_o kingdom_n be_v yet_o come_v nevertheless_o we_o see_v the_o contrary_n and_o therefore_o see_v the_o prophet_n have_v thus_o say_v it_o be_v not_o only_o to_o show_v that_o god_n shall_v be_v universal_o worship_v in_o spirit_n &_o truth_n and_o not_o in_o figure_n moreover_o here_o be_v to_o be_v note_v that_o the_o say_n of_o prophecy_n be_v not_o mean_v by_o the_o prophet_n to_o tell_v of_o thing_n to_o come_v as_o in_o the_o old_a time_n it_o be_v take_v but_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o whosoever_o shall_v have_v the_o gift_n of_o prophecy_n shall_v be_v able_a to_o teach_v and_o apply_v doctrine_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o profit_n thereby_o and_o so_o the_o promise_n that_o be_v make_v unto_o we_o of_o the_o come_n of_o jesus_n christ_n contain_v thus_o much_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v more_o deep_o see_v in_o heavenly_a thing_n than_o heretofore_o we_o have_v be_v for_o we_o see_v in_o very_a deed_n that_o s._n paul_n call_v it_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n 2._o â—_o cor._n 2._o under_o which_o all_o thing_n shall_v be_v subject_a the_o prophet_n joel_n soon_o after_o set_v down_o in_o this_o place_n that_o god_n will_v do_v wonderful_a thing_n in_o heaven_n above_o and_o sign_n in_o the_o earth_n below_o blood_n fire_n and_o vapour_n of_o smoke_n that_o the_o sun_n shall_v be_v turn_v into_o darkness_n and_o the_o moon_n into_o blood_n these_o word_n show_v that_o great_a and_o marvelous_a thing_n must_v come_v to_o pass_v whenas_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v manifest_v himself_o and_o why_o so_o forsooth_o because_o the_o the_o world_n shall_v then_o be_v change_v for_o they_o which_o will_v follow_v jesus_n christ_n must_v whole_o alter_v their_o nature_n and_o therefore_o be_v the_o come_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n call_v the_o latter_a day_n moreover_o this_o be_v not_o speak_v for_o a_o day_n or_o for_o a_o month_n but_o the_o prophet_n refer_v all_o that_o be_v here_o speak_v unto_o the_o whole_a time_n from_o the_o come_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n until_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n so_o that_o we_o must_v enclose_v the_o wonder_n which_o shall_v be_v do_v at_o the_o come_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n from_o the_o time_n of_o his_o come_n unto_o the_o last_o day_n and_o to_o say_v true_o the_o forward_a we_o go_v the_o great_a thing_n will_v he_o do_v as_o we_o daily_o find_v by_o experience_n now_o that_o we_o understand_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o prophet_n let_v we_o apply_v the_o same_o to_o our_o own_o use_n for_o where_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o first_o place_n that_o god_n will_v pour_v out_o his_o spirit_n upon_o all_o flesh_n we_o be_v to_o consider_v that_o the_o great_a benefit_n which_o we_o can_v possible_o have_v be_v to_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o this_o be_v the_o most_o excellent_a gift_n which_o god_n bestow_v upon_o we_o in_o respect_n whereof_o all_o the_o worldly_a liberality_n which_o he_o render_v unto_o we_o be_v nothing_o for_o whensoever_o we_o be_v bereave_v of_o this_o gift_n jesus_n christ_n be_v take_v from_o we_o and_o until_o such_o time_n as_o we_o be_v clothe_v with_o he_o all_o whatsoever_o we_o do_v tend_v to_o our_o condemnation_n wherefore_o god_n young_a and_o old_a man_n and_o woman_n shall_v all_o receive_v of_o one_o and_o the_o self_n same_o spirit_n and_o it_o be_v to_o this_o end_n that_o no_o man_n may_v be_v able_a true_o say_v o_o sir_n i_o be_o utter_o unlearned_a and_o therefore_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o one_o to_o understand_v the_o scripture_n whereby_o i_o may_v receive_v the_o holy_a ghost_n why_o i_o beseech_v you_o say_v that_o he_o take_v exception_n too_o none_o howbeit_o we_o be_v so_o wicked_a as_o that_o we_o can_v take_v in_o good_a part_n the_o thing_n offer_v unto_o us._n what_o be_v the_o cause_n thereof_o sure_o sure_o our_o infidelity_n wherefore_o neither_o young_a nor_o old_a can_v excuse_v themselves_o of_o this_o fault_n in_o not_o submit_v themselves_o unto_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n see_v he_o have_v call_v all_o thereto_o neither_o be_v it_o to_o be_v wonder_v at_o although_o they_o so_o little_a profit_n in_o this_o doctrine_n for_o if_o we_o mark_v it_o the_o elder_a they_o must_v humble_v themselves_o under_o the_o mighty_a hand_n of_o god_n to_o the_o end_n they_o may_v understand_v that_o they_o have_v a_o father_n in_o heaven_n who_o will_v not_o care_v only_o for_o their_o bodily_a nurriture_n but_o will_v also_o entertain_v and_o govern_v they_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n they_o pass_v not_o a_o hawe_z of_o all_o this_o but_o take_v leave_v to_o do_v what_o wickedness_n soever_o they_o lust_v now_o because_o the_o time_n will_v not_o serve_v to_o proceed_v any_o further_a herein_o we_o will_v reserve_v the_o handle_n of_o the_o residue_n until_o instruction_n and_o that_o we_o also_o may_v learn_v to_o benefit_n ourselves_o so_o that_o it_o may_v turn_v to_o the_o glory_n and_o praise_n of_o his_o holy_a name_n and_o the_o edify_n of_o our_o neighbour_n and_o so_o let_v we_o most_o humble_o say_v o_o almighty_a god_n and_o heavenly_a father_n etc._n etc._n the_o three_o sermon_n of_o the_o descend_v of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n act_n ghost_n even_o to_o make_v we_o partaker_n of_o the_o self_n same_o grace_n which_o he_o liberal_o bestow_v upon_o they_o howbeit_o we_o be_v so_o incredulous_a and_o faithless_a as_o that_o we_o kind_n of_o lewdness_n so_o that_o if_o they_o be_v tell_v of_o their_o dissoluteness_n they_o wax_v so_o mad_a and_o furious_a as_o that_o it_o shall_v seem_v they_o will_v mar_v all_o and_o when_o man_n shall_v be_v manlyke_a and_o sharp_a witted_a to_o give_v diligent_a heed_n unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n they_o be_v become_v as_o blockish_a as_o bruit_v beast_n and_o where_o the_o woman_n also_o shall_v be_v humble_a and_o walk_v sober_o and_o honest_o they_o be_v extreme_a dissolute_a and_o too_o too_o gallant_a and_o full_a of_o all_o superfluous_a vain_a vanity_n and_o therefore_o if_o now_o we_o see_v not_o man_n enjoy_v the_o grace_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o god_n here_o speak_v of_o that_o he_o will_v pour_v out_o upon_o his_o servant_n and_o handmaid_n it_o be_v be_v divide_v in_o tongue_n &_o beside_o let_v we_o become_v new_a man_n through_o the_o doctrine_n which_o be_v preach_v unto_o we_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o that_o we_o may_v know_v that_o there_o be_v fire_n in_o it_o to_o change_v and_o cleanse_v our_o mind_n wit_n &_o heart_n from_o all_o the_o corruption_n of_o this_o world_n for_o although_o god_n choose_a people_n be_v bring_v home_o again_o by_o the_o mean_a of_o the_o gospel_n yet_o see_v we_o the_o enemy_n of_o the_o truth_n become_v more_o cruel_a and_o rebellious_a so_o that_o it_o be_v even_o sufficient_a to_o set_v all_o the_o world_n together_o by_o the_o ear_n as_o by_o experience_n at_o this_o day_n may_v be_v see_v for_o during_o the_o time_n that_o the_o gospel_n be_v not_o preach_v all_o the_o world_n live_v careless_o and_o quiet_o and_o there_o be_v not_o many_o question_n nor_o disputation_n and_o how_o so_o forsooth_o because_o the_o devil_n then_o reign_v without_o gainsay_v but_o when_o our_o lord_n jesus_n appear_v with_o the_o pure_a doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n what_o skirmish_v be_v there_o forthwith_o we_o see_v also_o at_o this_o day_n what_o contention_n there_o be_v among_o those_o which_o bear_v the_o name_n of_o christian_n so_o much_o the_o rather_o therefore_o be_v we_o to_o beseech_v the_o lord_n to_o make_v we_o feel_v wherefore_o the_o holy_a ghost_n descend_v upon_o his_o apostle_n and_o to_o beseech_v he_o also_o to_o grant_v we_o that_o grace_n that_o we_o may_v obedient_o testify_v that_o it_o be_v to_o gather_v we_o together_o that_o where_o before_o we_o be_v sever_v we_o may_v now_o be_v conjoin_v unto_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n as_o member_n of_o his_o body_n and_o let_v he_o be_v our_o true_a head_n moreover_o for_o the_o attain_v thereto_o we_o be_v also_o to_o beseech_v he_o so_o to_o strengthen_v we_o as_o that_o our_o heart_n may_v be_v set_v on_o fire_n where_o now_o they_o be_v key_n cold_a and_o also_o to_o perboyle_v we_o that_o the_o corruption_n of_o our_o nature_n may_v be_v scoomb_v of_o and_o to_o be_v short_a that_o we_o may_v be_v so_o renew_a as_o that_o we_o may_v be_v quite_o and_o clean_o separate_v from_o the_o world_n we_o shall_v oftentimes_o see_v how_o the_o word_n of_o god_n become_v a_o fire_n but_o it_o be_v after_o another_o sort_n even_o to_o consume_v those_o which_o speak_v against_o it_o according_a to_o that_o say_n of_o the_o prophet_n jeremiah_n where_o he_o show_v that_o it_o fare_v even_o so_o with_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n who_o the_o word_n of_o god_n consume_v like_o straw_n and_o stubble_n for_o their_o wickedness_n and_o rebellion_n and_o i_o beseech_v you_o let_v we_o see_v how_o many_o at_o this_o day_n can_v plead_v not_o guilty_a because_o they_o stubborne_o lift_v up_o themselves_o against_o god_n like_o foam_a wild_a beast_n or_o else_o some_o scorn_v and_o profane_a man_n who_o set_v themselves_o against_o god_n not_o geve_v any_o authority_n or_o honour_n unto_o his_o holy_a word_n in_o very_a deed_n these_o people_n shall_v never_o make_v the_o word_n of_o god_n unprofitable_a not_o yet_o without_o power_n but_o it_o will_v consume_v they_o like_o a_o hot_a consume_a fire_n to_o cender_v and_o ash_n let_v we_o therefore_o make_v this_o observation_n why_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n to_o have_v the_o holy_a ghost_n appear_v in_o fiery_a tongue_n sure_o it_o be_v to_o this_o end_n and_o purpose_n that_o the_o faithful_a may_v understande_v that_o they_o have_v great_a need_n to_o be_v so_o touch_v to_o the_o quick_a as_o that_o god_n may_v change_v and_o renew_v they_o thus_o we_o see_v in_o sum_n what_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v of_o for_o the_o better_a apply_v of_o this_o history_n to_o our_o use_n howbeit_o over_o and_o beside_o all_o this_o let_v we_o mark_v the_o two_o principal_a point_n of_o faith_n and_o then_o let_v we_o return_v to_o ourselves_o and_o understand_v what_o we_o will_v do_v if_o god_n wrought_v not_o therein_o first_o of_o all_o there_o be_v in_o faith_n knowledge_n and_o certainty_n and_o next_o of_o all_o be_v assuredness_n and_o constancy_n now_o when_o god_n speak_v we_o be_v even_o deaf_a at_o his_o word_n because_o our_o mind_n be_v altogether_o set_v upon_o this_o world_n and_o indeed_o we_o will_v account_v all_o the_o wisdom_n that_o be_v contain_v in_o the_o gospel_n to_o be_v very_a foolishness_n until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n have_v enlighten_v us._n 2.14_o 1._o cor._n 2.14_o in_o the_o first_o place_n therefore_o god_n must_v open_v our_o hearre_n for_o the_o understanding_n of_o this_o truth_n &_o for_o stick_v thereto_o otherwise_o we_o shall_v be_v both_o deaf_a blockish_a &_o without_o apprehend_v of_o this_o word_n thus_o much_o then_o for_o this_o point_n now_o for_o the_o second_o point_n it_o shall_v stand_v we_o in_o hand_n stout_o to_o withstand_v all_o the_o assault_n &_o attempt_n wherewith_o satan_n assail_v we_o and_o to_o be_v well_o arm_v &_o appoint_v for_o the_o same_o purpose_n and_o how_o be_v it_o possible_a for_o we_o to_o be_v so_o until_o such_o time_n as_o god_n have_v put_v to_o his_o help_a hand_n and_o there_o be_v no_o way_n to_o help_v that_o but_o by_o the_o only_a power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o therefore_o although_o we_o be_v a_o hundred_o time_n teach_v the_o gospel_n yet_o forsomuch_o as_o we_o be_v light_n &_o fickle_a brain_a we_o shall_v soon_o be_v pull_v from_o it_o if_o god_n do_v not_o strengthen_v we_o therein_o yea_o and_o at_o this_o day_n it_o be_v so_o full_a of_o peril_n &_o threat_n as_o that_o the_o silly_a faithful_a soul_n can_v no_o soon_o open_v their_o mouth_n to_o call_v upon_o god_n but_o that_o they_o be_v forthwith_o at_o the_o point_n to_o be_v put_v to_o death_n neither_o can_v they_o any_o soon_o confess_v their_o faith_n but_o that_o the_o fire_n be_v lighten_v utter_o to_o abolish_v the_o memory_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n since_o than_o it_o be_v so_o mighty_o stand_v against_a as_o that_o they_o who_o shall_v defend_v the_o christian_a faith_n satan_n have_v inflame_v they_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a utter_o to_o overthrow_v all_o must_v not_o god_n therefore_o show_v his_o power_n herein_o we_o be_v then_o at_o this_o day_n teach_v by_o experience_n &_o admonish_v what_o need_v we_o have_v to_o put_v in_o practice_v the_o thing_n contain_v in_o this_o history_n &_o thereupon_o pray_v unto_o the_o lord_n &_o beseech_v he_o that_o as_o his_o will_n &_o pleasure_n be_v to_o testify_v
