god_n as_o now_o i_o have_v for_o the_o present_a health_n of_o body_n where_o do_v the_o good_a of_o the_o health_n of_o my_o body_n lie_v it_o be_v that_o while_o i_o have_v health_n i_o have_v ability_n to_o serve_v god_n and_o be_v useful_a in_o the_o place_n where_o god_n have_v set_v i_o i_o have_v a_o estate_n wherein_o lie_v the_o good_a of_o it_o it_o lie_v in_o this_o that_o by_o this_o i_o may_v be_v instrumental_a for_o god_n more_o than_o other_o if_o i_o live_v wherein_o lie_v the_o good_a of_o life_n why_o that_o i_o may_v be_v useful_a to_o the_o church_n in_o the_o way_n wherein_o god_n have_v set_v i_o now_o when_o the_o heart_n be_v principled_a in_o this_o then_o if_o god_n take_v away_o my_o health_n then_o it_o seem_v god_n have_v no_o further_a use_n of_o my_o health_n for_o the_o present_a but_o will_v rather_o honour_v himself_o in_o another_o way_n upon_o i_o why_o now_o there_o be_v no_o good_a in_o my_o health_n and_o if_o god_n take_v away_o my_o estate_n than_o he_o will_v rather_o honour_v himself_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o my_o humility_n and_o of_o my_o patience_n if_o god_n take_v away_o my_o life_n than_o god_n will_v rather_o have_v his_o honour_n from_o my_o soul_n to_o join_v with_o angel_n and_o saint_n in_o honour_v of_o he_o that_o way_n rather_o than_o in_o employ_v of_o i_o any_o further_a in_o this_o world_n such_o a_o principle_n as_o this_o be_v will_v mighty_o help_v the_o heart_n in_o the_o day_n of_o affliction_n certain_o our_o happiness_n do_v not_o depend_v upon_o what_o we_o have_v here_o in_o this_o world_n the_o reason_n why_o the_o heart_n be_v so_o trouble_v in_o the_o time_n of_o affliction_n it_o be_v because_o of_o this_o that_o man_n and_o woman_n look_v upon_o their_o happiness_n to_o consist_v in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o these_o thing_n o_o no_o thou_o dishonour_v the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o thy_o holy_a profession_n to_o think_v that_o thy_o happiness_n shall_v depend_v upon_o such_o poor_a thing_n as_o these_o be_v sure_o jesus_n christ_n have_v not_o come_v to_o shed_v his_o blood_n and_o to_o purchase_v happiness_n for_o the_o saint_n and_o when_o all_o come_v too_o it_o shall_v be_v so_o poor_a as_o to_o depend_v upon_o all_o the_o uncertainty_n that_o we_o have_v in_o this_o world_n no_o no_o thy_o happiness_n lie_v hihger_n thy_o life_n be_v hide_v with_o christ_n in_o god_n if_o a_o man_n have_v a_o jewel_n worth_a many_o thousand_o and_o his_o house_n shall_v be_v on_o fire_n why_o though_o he_o lose_v the_o lumber_n and_o stuff_n in_o the_o house_n yet_o if_o he_o be_v sure_a the_o jewel_n be_v safe_a he_o be_v quiet_a now_o the_o saint_n they_o may_v be_v sure_a that_o they_o be_v safe_a for_o eternity_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o much_o what_o other_o thing_n be_v oh_o consider_v of_o these_o thing_n and_o work_v they_o upon_o your_o heart_n that_o be_v the_o second_o point_n but_o a_o word_n or_o two_o of_o the_o other_o doctr._n that_o be_v that_o that_o which_o seem_v ill_a to_o we_o may_v seem_v good_a to_o god_n it_o be_v the_o lord_n let_v he_o do_v what_o seem_v he_o good_a certain_o for_o the_o present_a it_o do_v not_o seem_v very_o good_a to_o ely_n if_o that_o ely_n judgement_n have_v be_v ask_v of_o those_o thing_n ely_n will_v have_v say_v that_o they_o have_v be_v very_o sad_a ay_o thing_n conclude_v in_o heaven_n in_o heaven_n there_o be_v not_o the_o same_o judgement_n of_o my_o cause_n as_o at_o noremberg_n and_o so_o it_o may_v be_v say_v concern_v affliction_n there_o be_v one_o thing_n many_o time_n conclude_v in_o my_o wretched_a weak_a foolish_a and_o unbelieve_a heart_n and_o another_o thing_n in_o heaven_n one_o thing_n conclude_v in_o the_o world_n and_o in_o man_n rumour_n and_o another_o thing_n in_o heaven_n it_o be_v some_o comfort_n to_o a_o man_n though_o he_o hear_v rumour_n abroad_o in_o the_o world_n if_o then_o he_o can_v have_v his_o own_o heart_n to_o contradict_v they_o if_o he_o have_v nothing_o else_o to_o think_v but_o this_o well_o that_o that_o be_v speak_v in_o the_o world_n be_v one_o thing_n and_o that_o that_o i_o find_v in_o my_o heart_n be_v another_o that_o be_v comfortable_a but_o this_o be_v great_a comfort_n thou_o be_v my_o portion_n say_v my_o soul_n say_v the_o

while_o he_o be_v live_v and_o it_o be_v upon_o this_o account_n that_o he_o say_v it_o be_v gain_v for_o he_o to_o die_v why_o paul_n enjoy_v much_o communion_n with_o jesus_n christ_n here_o and_o though_o he_o have_v some_o sin_n in_o he_o yet_o consider_v the_o grace_n he_o have_v and_o the_o service_n he_o do_v for_o christ_n certain_o it_o be_v better_o for_o he_o to_o live_v than_o to_o be_v in_o a_o condition_n where_o he_o shall_v enjoy_v nothing_o of_o christ_n and_o do_v no_o service_n for_o christ_n but_o the_o apostle_n look_v upon_o the_o state_n of_o death_n before_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n to_o be_v a_o better_a estate_n than_o that_o he_o have_v while_o he_o live_v though_o say_v he_o i_o have_v the_o grace_n of_o christ_n and_o i_o do_v service_n for_o he_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o better_a condition_n between_o death_n and_o judgement_n if_o my_o soul_n be_v go_v from_o my_o body_n it_o will_v be_v in_o a_o better_a estate_n than_o now_o it_o be_v to_o i_o to_o die_v be_v gain_v and_o so_o you_o have_v it_o in_o 2_o cor._n where_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o his_o depart_n out_o of_o the_o body_n in_o chap._n 5._o therefore_o we_o be_v always_o confident_a know_v that_o whilst_o we_o be_v at_o home_n in_o the_o body_n we_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o lord_n we_o be_v confident_a in_o verse_n 8._o i_o say_v and_o willing_a rather_o to_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o body_n and_o to_o be_v present_a with_o the_o lord_n so_o that_o it_o be_v apparent_a that_o upon_o the_o soul_n absence_n from_o the_o body_n it_o be_v present_a with_o the_o lord_n now_o if_o the_o soul_n do_v die_v as_o the_o body_n do_v it_o be_v not_o present_a with_o the_o lord_n no_o not_o so_o much_o as_o when_o it_o be_v in_o the_o body_n but_o now_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o when_o it_o be_v out_o of_o the_o body_n then_o it_o be_v present_a with_o the_o lord_n and_o when_o it_o be_v in_o the_o body_n it_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o lord_n and_o so_o it_o be_v upon_o this_o ground_n especial_o that_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o to_o he_o to_o die_v be_v gain_v because_o he_o shall_v be_v absent_a from_o the_o body_n but_o present_a with_o christ_n which_o be_v best_a of_o all_o to_o be_v with_o christ_n it_o be_v more_o than_o to_o have_v christ_n with_o we_o the_o difference_n lie_v here_o for_o we_o to_o be_v with_o christ_n it_o be_v for_o we_o to_o be_v bring_v to_o christ_n where_o he_o be_v like_o himself_o in_o all_o his_o glory_n and_o excellency_n and_o for_o we_o to_o enjoy_v he_o in_o a_o proportionable_a way_n but_o now_o for_o christ_n to_o be_v immanuel_n god_n with_o we_o it_o be_v for_o christ_n to_o come_v down_o as_o it_o be_v to_o we_o and_o to_o manifest_v so_o much_o of_o himself_o as_o be_v suitable_a to_o our_o condition_n therefore_o christ_n humble_v himself_o to_o come_v to_o be_v with_o we_o for_o there_o he_o be_v a_o man_n of_o sorrow_n he_o be_v with_o we_o suitable_a to_o our_o mean_a and_o low_a condition_n but_o when_o we_o come_v to_o be_v with_o he_o we_o be_v there_o suitable_a to_o his_o high_a and_o glorious_a condition_n there_o lie_v the_o difference_n mark_v the_o apostle_n do_v not_o here_o say_v to_o i_o to_o die_v be_v gain_n upon_o this_o ground_n because_o i_o shall_v be_v deliver_v from_o my_o trouble_n as_o a_o great_a many_o be_v ready_a to_o think_v it_o be_v well_o for_o i_o to_o be_v dead_a if_o they_o be_v but_o a_o little_a discountent_v their_o outward_a trouble_n make_v they_o willing_a to_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n yea_o and_o if_o their_o body_n be_v weak_o and_o their_o stomach_n go_v and_o can_v eat_v as_o other_o do_v or_o sleep_v as_o other_o do_v or_o be_v very_o poor_a and_o live_v in_o a_o mean_a condition_n they_o be_v weary_a of_o this_o world_n now_o to_o think_v death_n gain_n upon_o such_o a_o poor_a ground_n as_o these_o be_v not_o according_a to_o the_o spirit_n of_o paul_n paul_n suffer_v as_o much_o as_o many_o of_o you_o do_v for_o outward_a thing_n in_o this_o world_n and_o yet_o he_o do_v not_o desire_v to_o die_v o_o then_o i_o shall_v be_v afflict_a no_o more_o be_v persecute_v no_o more_o in_o the_o world_n no_o but_o when_o i_o die_v i_o shall_v be_v with_o jesus_n christ_n and_o shall_v enjoy_v communion_n with_o he_o and_o it_o be_v this_o that_o make_v i_o look_v upon_o death_n with_o comfort_n and_o in_o this_o respect_n its_o gain_n though_o paul_n have_v enjoy_v all_o the_o world_n at_o will_n yet_o he_o will_v have_v account_v death_n to_o have_v be_v gain_n to_o he_o and_o though_o paul_n be_v a_o man_n of_o great_a esteem_n among_o the_o saint_n though_o persecute_v by_o other_o yet_o death_n be_v gain_n to_o he_o yea_o though_o paul_n enjoy_v all_o ordinance_n yet_o christ_n be_v gain_n to_o he_o and_o though_o he_o do_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o service_n for_o christ_n as_o i_o very_o believe_v there_o be_v never_o any_o man_n since_o the_o world_n be_v make_v do_v more_o service_n for_o jesus_n christ_n
therefore_o sure_o it_o be_v gain_n to_o die_v for_o a_o godly_a man._n 7_o further_n it_o be_v gain_n in_o this_o respect_n when_o they_o receive_v immediate_o they_o shall_v receive_v all_o unite_a in_o one_o and_o all_o together_o they_o shall_v have_v such_o influence_n from_o christ_n as_o have_v all_o good_a unite_a in_o one_o beam_n of_o excellency_n and_o so_o receive_v it_o all_o one_o creature_n another_o in_o another_o but_o when_o we_o come_v to_o enjoy_v he_o immediate_o than_o we_o shall_v have_v all_o in_o one_o because_o all_o his_o excellency_n whatsoever_o be_v unite_v in_o one_o in_o he_o eight_o further_n all_o our_o good_a shall_v be_v in_o continal_n act._n here_o we_o have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o good_a in_o the_o habit_n but_o now_o when_o we_o come_v to_o have_v this_o immediate_a communion_n with_o christ_n there_o all_o our_o grace_n shall_v be_v act_v continual_o the_o sun_n you_o know_v how_o it_o do_v act_n the_o earth_n whatsoever_o there_o be_v in_o the_o earth_n it_o draw_v it_o forth_o and_o make_v it_o flourish_v so_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n oh_o how_o glorious_o will_v it_o act_n all_o our_o grace_n in_o numb_a 17._o 7._o we_o read_v of_o aaron_n rod_n it_o blossom_a and_o the_o text_n say_v it_o blossom_v before_o the_o lord_n when_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o saint_n shall_v be_v before_o the_o lord_n and_o be_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o lord_n christ_n o_o they_o shall_v blossom_n and_o flourish_n and_o all_o their_o grace_n shall_v flourish_n in_o a_o most_o glorious_a manner_n nine_o and_o then_o last_o we_o shall_v enjoy_v what_o be_v in_o christ_n without_o any_o intermission_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o any_o intermission_n here_o but_o something_o that_o come_v between_o christ_n and_o our_o soul_n but_o now_o when_o there_o shall_v be_v nothing_o between_o christ_n and_o the_o soul_n than_o there_o will_v be_v no_o intermission_n that_o sweetness_n and_o comfort_n thou_o have_v in_o communion_n with_o christ_n at_o any_o time_n thou_o shall_v have_v it_o at_o all_o time_n and_o how_o good_a be_v that_o o_o say_v many_o a_o soul_n can_v i_o have_v but_o the_o communion_n with_o christ_n at_o all_o time_n as_o i_o have_v at_o some_o time_n o_o that_o will_v be_v comfortable_a now_o when_o the_o soul_n have_v immediate_a communion_n with_o christ_n it_o shall_v have_v it_o at_o all_o time_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o eclipse_n it_o be_v the_o interposition_n between_o the_o moon_n and_o the_o sun_n or_o some_o interposition_n between_o the_o sun_n and_o we_o so_o our_o eclipse_n of_o the_o light_n that_o we_o have_v from_o christ_n it_o be_v some_o interposition_n take_v away_o the_o interposition_n and_o then_o there_o will_v be_v no_o intermission_n now_o put_v all_o these_o together_o and_o be_v it_o not_o gain_v to_o die_v and_o to_o be_v with_o christ_n now_o by_o way_n of_o use_n it_o be_v gain_n thus_o to_o be_v with_o christ_n hence_o then_o use_v if_o it_o be_v gain_n for_o one_o that_o do_v so_o much_o service_n for_o christ_n as_o paul_n do_v sure_o than_o those_o that_o be_v believer_n and_o be_v make_v little_a use_n of_o in_o any_o service_n for_o christ_n they_o will_v get_v by_o their_o death_n paul_n be_v a_o man_n that_o one_o will_v wonder_v how_o the_o church_n can_v spare_v he_o he_o do_v so_o much_o for_o christ_n and_o yet_o paul_n will_v get_v by_o death_n if_o thou_o be_v a_o believer_n thou_o shall_v have_v thy_o immediate_a communion_n with_o christ_n as_o paul_n have_v alas_o here_o while_o thou_o live_v thou_o have_v but_o little_a communion_n between_o christ_n and_o thou_o and_o do_v he_o but_o little_a service_n in_o the_o world_n then_o why_o shall_v you_o so_o much_o desire_v to_o live_v in_o the_o world_n that_o have_v nothing_o to_o countervail_v the_o trouble_n that_o you_o have_v and_o the_o sin_n that_o be_v commit_v in_o the_o world_n o_o sure_o it_o will_v be_v gain_n for_o you_o second_o hence_o it_o follow_v that_o it_o be_v a_o self-denial_n to_o a_o believer_n to_o be_v willing_a to_o live_v here_o in_o the_o world_n you_o will_v say_v if_o it_o be_v so_o much_o gain_n why_o shall_v any_o be_v so_o desirous_a to_o live_v it_o be_v this_o first_o nature_n will_v have_v its_o work_n though_o in_o their_o judgement_n they_o be_v convince_v that_o it_o be_v better_a to_o be_v with_o christ_n yet_o the_o body_n will_v be_v work_v and_o the_o affection_n will_v follow_v the_o body_n very_o much_o further_o though_o they_o be_v convince_v that_o it_o be_v gain_n yet_o god_n lay_v a_o tie_n upon_o they_o to_o preserve_v their_o life_n as_o long_o as_o they_o can_v here_o in_o this_o world_n in_o obedience_n to_o god_n they_o do_v desire_v to_o avoid_v danger_n and_o preserve_v their_o life_n it_o be_v not_o for_o they_o to_o be_v where_o it_o be_v best_o for_o they_o to_o be_v but_o to_o be_v where_o god_n will_v have_v they_o to_o be_v and_o therefore_o god_n do_v charge_v they_o to_o seek_v to_o preserve_v their_o life_n and_o to_o go_v on_o till_o he_o himself_o shall_v dissolve_v the_o body_n and_o soul_n it_o be_v god_n that_o be_v the_o lord_n of_o our_o life_n and_o as_o god_n give_v we_o our_o life_n so_o it_o be_v he_o that_o must_v take_v they_o away_o and_o not_o any_o body_n else_o but_o yet_o i_o say_v there_o be_v some_o self-denial_n in_o it_o we_o must_v look_v upon_o ourselves_o here_o as_o in_o a_o very_a low_a and_o mean_a condition_n in_o comparison_n of_o what_o we_o hope_v to_o be_v within_o a_o while_n after_o therefore_o observe_v this_o one_o note_n those_o that_o do_v believe_v the_o gain_n of_o death_n they_o have_v need_v labour_n what_o they_o can_v to_o countervail_v the_o forbearance_n of_o the_o gain_n by_o somewhat_o or_o other_o if_o a_o man_n have_v a_o great_a gain_n and_o it_o come_v not_o in_o his_o present_a possession_n he_o think_v what_o shall_v i_o have_v for_o my_o forbearance_n you_o will_v say_v what_o be_v it_o that_o any_o believer_n can_v have_v in_o lieu_n of_o his_o forbearance_n of_o that_o gain_n true_o the_o most_o excellent_a thing_n be_v this_o that_o he_o may_v do_v christ_n service_n while_o he_o live_v now_o then_o be_v that_o the_o main_a thing_n o_o learn_v from_o hence_o to_o be_v of_o as_o much_o use_n in_o your_o life_n as_o possible_o you_o can_v for_o you_o have_v nothing_o else_o to_o speak_v of_o in_o forbearance_n of_o that_o great_a gain_n why_o lord_n i_o expect_v to_o enjoy_v thou_o for_o ever_o before_o of_o god_n elect_n and_o be_v make_v by_o god_n to_o be_v executioner_n against_o wicked_a man_n but_o we_o never_o read_v that_o god_n have_v commit_v the_o word_n of_o reconciliation_n to_o angel_n god_n have_v not_o appoint_v they_o to_o be_v the_o preacher_n of_o peace_n to_o people_n therefore_o it_o be_v the_o most_o honourable_a work_n that_o ever_o creature_n be_v set_v about_o to_o come_v to_o a_o place_n and_o say_v peace_n be_v to_o this_o place_n in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n and_o be_v it_o be_v such_o a_o work_n as_o this_o o_o how_o detestable_a and_o vile_a and_o curse_v be_v laziness_n or_o idleness_n in_o any_o one_o that_o shall_v profess_v himself_o a_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n what_o come_v about_o such_o a_o work_n as_o this_o to_o be_v a_o ambassador_n of_o reconciliation_n from_o the_o great_a god_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n o_o he_o shall_v have_v his_o heart_n and_o thought_n take_v up_o about_o this_o night_n and_o day_n he_o shall_v be_v study_v while_n you_o shall_v come_v with_o a_o disposition_n of_o spirit_n i_o be_o now_o go_v to_o hear_v the_o doctrine_n of_o peace_n between_o god_n and_o my_o soul_n to_o attend_v upon_o the_o what_o be_v this_o to_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n no_o but_o can_v you_o say_v bless_a be_v god_n the_o lord_n have_v make_v know_v to_o my_o soul_n what_o my_o estate_n whatsoever_o you_o come_v you_o shall_v offer_v peace_n unto_o they_o ay_o but_o you_o will_v say_v this_o may_v harden_v many_o in_o their_o profaneness_n if_o god_n will_v have_v his_o minister_n offer_v peace_n to_o the_o most_o profane_a people_n that_o be_v then_o may_v some_o profane_a one_o say_v i_o hope_v we_o shall_v do_v well_o enough_o then_o to_o that_o i_o answer_v the_o lord_n all_o stumble_v block_n yet_o certain_o he_o be_v to_o venture_v the_o harden_v of_o many_o hundred_o rather_o than_o not_o to_o preach_v the_o gospel_n of_o god_n to_o any_o one_o soul_n he_o shall_v more_o regard_v the_o offer_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o peace_n in_o hope_n that_o there_o be_v some_o few_o that_o belong_v to_o god_n election_n than_o to_o fear_v the_o harden_v of_o many_o hundred_o and_o if_o you_o shall_v be_v harden_a by_o the_o offer_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o peace_n there_o can_v be_v no_o great_a brand_n of_o your_o rejection_n and_o that_o will_v make_v it_o appear_v that_o you_o be_v no_o such_o son_n of_o peace_n ay_o but_o then_o may_v some_o say_v that_o be_v more_o civil_a and_o fair_a what_o if_o god_n send_v the_o gospel_n to_o the_o most_o profane_a sure_o there_o be_v no_o question_n but_o god_n will_v have_v mercy_n upon_o we_o for_o he_o do_v appoint_v his_o minister_n to_o offer_v the_o gospel_n of_o peace_n to_o the_o worst_a ay_o but_o know_v what_o christ_n say_v that_o the_o publican_n and_o harlot_n do_v enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n rather_o than_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n god_n offer_v to_o the_o worst_a yea_o many_o time_n make_v it_o more_o effectual_a to_o the_o worst_a than_o he_o do_v to_o some_o that_o be_v more_o fair_a and_o civil_a in_o their_o conversation_n because_o indeed_o they_o do_v not_o see_v the_o need_n that_o they_o have_v of_o peace_n i_o suppose_v you_o will_v think_v it_o to_o be_v one_o of_o the_o most_o hard_a and_o harsh_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n if_o you_o shall_v be_v tell_v that_o all_o of_o you_o natural_o be_v enemy_n to_o god_n and_o yet_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o plain_a in_o the_o scripture_n than_o this_o now_o because_o it_o be_v so_o hard_a to_o convince_v civil_a man_n of_o this_o therefore_o they_o be_v not_o so_o soon_o wrought_v upon_o as_o profane_a one_o be_v wherefore_o then_o my_o brethren_n if_o this_o be_v so_o it_o be_v a_o encouragement_n first_o to_o minister_n when_o they_o come_v to_o any_o place_n never_o to_o be_v trouble_v whatsoever_o people_n they_o be_v if_o he_o come_v to_o preach_v to_o they_o and_o offer_v the_o gospel_n of_o peace_n to_o they_o for_o who_o know_v but_o those_o that_o be_v the_o worst_a and_o vile_a one_o may_v come_v in_o and_o embrace_v the_o gospel_n of_o peace_n may_v be_v vessel_n of_o mercy_n and_o may_v hereafter_o stand_v and_o admire_v at_o the_o riches_n of_o god_n goodness_n and_o may_v live_v eternal_o to_o bless_v his_o name_n for_o this_o bless_a peace_n that_o be_v make_v between_o their_o soul_n and_o himself_o and_o second_o all_o you_o that_o do_v hear_v this_o point_n stand_v for_o the_o present_a and_o admire_v at_o god_n goodness_n that_o ever_o this_o shall_v be_v so_o that_o ever_o you_o shall_v hear_v such_o a_o truth_n as_o this_o be_v that_o christ_n will_v have_v his_o minister_n offer_v term_n of_o peace_n to_o the_o worst_a in_o the_o world_n i_o say_v admire_v at_o this_o goodness_n of_o christ_n and_o especial_o you_o that_o be_v profane_a one_o stand_v and_o wonder_n
unto_o you_o there_o be_v something_o to_o be_v open_v unto_o you_o about_o your_o miserable_a state_n by_o nature_n for_o it_o be_v impossible_a to_o open_v the_o doctrine_n of_o peace_n and_o reconciliation_n without_o the_o open_n of_o that_o and_o that_o may_v well_o be_v justify_v that_o though_o the_o first_o thing_n shall_v be_v to_o say_v peace_n yet_o before_o this_o can_v be_v open_v at_o large_a unto_o people_n they_o must_v come_v to_o know_v what_o their_o natural_a state_n be_v there_o be_v some_o that_o will_v at_o first_o and_o at_o last_o say_v peace_n and_o will_v have_v nothing_o else_o preach_v and_o cry_v out_o against_o preach_v of_o any_o thing_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n which_o be_v mere_o through_o their_o ignorance_n in_o not_o right_o understand_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n for_o though_o at_o first_o we_o be_v to_o open_v this_o peace_n yet_o when_o we_o come_v to_o open_v it_o this_o have_v that_o in_o the_o very_a bowel_n of_o it_o that_o will_v show_v the_o most_o woeful_a condition_n of_o man_n by_o nature_n that_o possible_o can_v be_v as_o for_o instance_n peace_n between_o god_n and_o we_o why_o what_o be_v we_o enemy_n be_v there_o a_o enmity_n between_o god_n and_o we_o yes_o that_o come_v here_o we_o can_v open_v the_o meaning_n of_o this_o peace_n but_o if_o we_o come_v once_o to_o open_v it_o we_o must_v of_o necessity_n fall_v upon_o the_o doctrine_n of_o man_n state_n by_o nature_n and_o show_v what_o a_o breach_n sin_n have_v make_v between_o god_n and_o the_o soul_n and_o what_o infinite_a need_n there_o be_v of_o such_o a_o redeemer_n that_o we_o can_v no_o other_o way_n be_v redeem_v but_o that_o we_o must_v have_v such_o a_o saviour_n that_o must_v be_v both_o god_n and_o man._n now_o when_o we_o come_v to_o open_v the_o nature_n of_o this_o it_o must_v needs_o show_v you_o what_o your_o miserable_a condition_n be_v by_o nature_n but_o a_o word_n or_o two_o for_o the_o application_n of_o this_o god_n do_v appoint_v his_o minister_n at_o first_o to_o come_v to_o you_o and_o to_o make_v the_o proffer_n of_o peace_n unto_o your_o soul_n than_o it_o shall_v teach_v and_o mercy_n o_o it_o be_v a_o great_a encouragement_n to_o a_o minister_n when_o people_n come_v in_o at_o the_o very_a first_o offer_n we_o have_v a_o notable_a scripture_n for_o this_o in_o psal_n give_v exceed_v good_a hope_n that_o they_o have_v receive_v the_o doctrine_n of_o peace_n that_o thou_o do_v send_v i_o about_o and_o those_o certain_o be_v most_o to_o be_v honour_v that_o do_v first_o come_v in_o though_o its_o true_a if_o man_n come_v in_o at_o the_o last_o hour_n there_o be_v a_o possibility_n to_o get_v to_o heaven_n but_o those_o that_o come_v in_o at_o the_o first_o some_o son_n of_o peace_n in_o that_o place_n o_o do_v not_o frustrate_v this_o expectation_n it_o be_v a_o vile_a thing_n for_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o come_v to_o any_o place_n but_o to_o gain_v son_n of_o peace_n and_o indeed_o upon_o this_o expectation_n the_o heart_n of_o a_o faithful_a minister_n who_o understand_v what_o the_o meaning_n of_o peace_n with_o god_n be_v can_v but_o be_v draw_v forth_o towards_o a_o people_n why_o he_o come_v with_o this_o expectation_n and_o he_o look_v after_o his_o ministry_n to_o see_v what_o become_v of_o it_o o_o therefore_o do_v not_o frustrate_v the_o expectation_n of_o your_o minister_n in_o this_o do_v not_o give_v they_o occasion_n to_o make_v their_o complaint_n that_o they_o have_v spend_v their_o strength_n in_o vain_a yea_o and_o further_o as_o it_o be_v the_o expectation_n of_o the_o minister_n that_o preach_v so_o it_o be_v the_o expectation_n of_o all_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n none_o of_o god_n people_n that_o know_v a_o place_n that_o have_v live_v in_o darkness_n and_o blindness_n before_o but_o if_o they_o see_v the_o lord_n by_o his_o providence_n carry_v the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n with_o power_n in_o that_o place_n they_o think_v thus_o with_o themselves_o who_o be_v it_o that_o the_o lord_n intend_v good_a unto_o sure_o the_o lord_n have_v a_o mercy_n to_o such_o a_o people_n come_v to_o any_o place_n it_o be_v very_o seldom_o but_o some_o or_o other_o will_v be_v rail_a and_o cry_v out_o against_o it_o but_o take_v heed_n what_o thou_o do_v will_v thou_o stand_v against_o god_n to_o cross_v god_n in_o such_o a_o bless_a end_n as_o this_o be_v it_o may_v be_v the_o lord_n have_v some_o soul_n in_o that_o place_n he_o intend_v eternal_a good_a unto_o and_o will_v thou_o gain_v of_o soul_n perhaps_o in_o a_o family_n if_o one_o or_o two_o do_v but_o go_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n the_o other_o will_v be_v scorn_v and_o jeer_a and_o one_o neighbour_n will_v be_v scorn_v at_o another_o and_o all_o to_o frustrate_v the_o hope_n of_o god_n of_o his_o minister_n and_o of_o the_o saint_n and_o angel_n but_o know_v when_o thou_o do_v any_o thing_n to_o oppose_v the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n thou_o do_v set_v thyself_o what_o in_o thou_o lie_v both_o to_o frustrate_v the_o hope_n of_o god_n and_o his_o minister_n and_o his_o saint_n and_o angel_n and_o thou_o will_v find_v this_o to_o be_v a_o hard_a work_n thou_o do_v but_o kick_v against_o the_o prick_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o point_n we_o come_v now_o unto_o the_o next_o that_o good_a say_v this_o be_v no_o argument_n of_o a_o man_n election_n but_o when_o it_o come_v not_o only_o in_o word_n but_o in_o power_n when_o you_o begin_v to_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o the_o word_n upon_o your_o heart_n though_o you_o come_v it_o may_v be_v at_o first_o out_o of_o curiosity_n and_o novelty_n and_o take_v notice_n of_o nothing_o that_o will_v be_v do_v but_o when_o you_o come_v there_o in_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o messiah_n therefore_o bid_v they_o be_v of_o good_a comfort_n their_o conscience_n shall_v be_v able_a to_o answer_v all_o accusation_n that_o can_v be_v lay_v against_o they_o for_o so_o the_o scripture_n tell_v we_o of_o the_o answer_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n 1_o pet._n 3._o 21._o thus_o let_v the_o devil_n let_v temptation_n charge_v upon_o one_o that_o be_v reconcile_v to_o god_n what_o they_o can_v a_o good_a conscience_n through_o the_o resurrection_n of_o jesus_n christ_n be_v able_a to_o answer_v all_o accusation_n and_o temptation_n this_o shall_v bring_v upon_o they_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o with_o the_o creature_n and_o with_o their_o conscience_n and_o with_o the_o word_n and_o then_o o_o the_o blessing_n that_o be_v upon_o all_o the_o entertainer_n of_o the_o gospel_n o_o the_o happy_a condition_n that_o the_o entertainer_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v in_o this_o my_o brethren_n be_v the_o reason_n why_o there_o be_v some_o that_o do_v prize_v the_o gospel_n and_o their_o heart_n be_v so_o much_o upon_o it_o do_v not_o blame_v they_o they_o find_v this_o good_a in_o it_o they_o find_v the_o blessing_n of_o the_o gospel_n upon_o they_o and_o therefore_o though_o you_o feel_v not_o the_o sweetness_n and_o good_a that_o there_o be_v in_o it_o and_o so_o neglect_v it_o their_o soul_n feel_v it_o and_o they_o bless_v themselves_o in_o their_o god_n and_o bless_v the_o lord_n that_o ever_o they_o hear_v of_o the_o gospel_n certain_o there_o be_v many_o thousand_o this_o day_n in_o heaven_n blessing_n god_n that_o ever_o they_o hear_v of_o the_o gospel_n because_o of_o the_o blessing_n that_o they_o do_v partake_v of_o by_o and_o through_o the_o gospel_n object_n you_o will_v say_v i_o but_o there_o be_v many_o that_o be_v the_o son_n of_o peace_n and_o the_o entertainer_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o yet_o they_o do_v not_o feel_v the_o blessing_n of_o this_o peace_n they_o be_v as_o much_o trouble_v as_o any_o be_v answ_n to_o that_o i_o answer_v they_o have_v certain_o that_o which_o be_v the_o matter_n for_o peace_n and_o their_o trouble_n come_v for_o want_v of_o understanding_n it_o other_o have_v matter_n for_o terror_n and_o their_o peace_n come_v for_o want_v of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o what_o matter_n for_o terror_n there_o be_v it_o be_v true_a they_o have_v not_o for_o the_o present_a the_o full_a sense_n of_o this_o blessing_n of_o peace_n though_o they_o have_v that_o which_o will_v bring_v it_o at_o last_o as_o for_o instance_n when_o the_o bluster_a tempestuous_a wind_n do_v cease_v the_o wave_n of_o the_o sea_n do_v not_o present_o cease_v from_o their_o tumultuous_a work_v and_o roar_v and_o noise_n and_o yet_o that_o which_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o their_o work_v that_o be_v go_v so_o here_o those_o who_o entertain_v the_o gospel_n they_o present_o upon_o the_o entertain_n of_o it_o have_v the_o tempest_n over_o there_o be_v no_o more_o tempest_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n against_o they_o but_o yet_o there_o may_v be_v some_o trouble_n in_o their_o spirit_n but_o it_o will_v be_v allay_v within_o a_o while_n because_o that_o which_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o their_o trouble_n that_o certain_o be_v over_o and_o therefore_o a_o strong_a argument_n here_o you_o have_v to_o entertain_v this_o bless_a gospel_n that_o be_v send_v among_o you_o when_o you_o hear_v it_o preach_v you_o hear_v what_o it_o bring_v to_o you_o it_o bring_v all_o the_o good_a that_o christ_n have_v purchase_v with_o his_o blood_n this_o it_o offer_v to_o you_o and_o can_v the_o world_n offer_v to_o you_o as_o much_o as_o this_o come_v to_o can_v there_o be_v any_o thing_n to_o draw_v your_o heart_n away_o from_o it_o that_o shall_v be_v equal_a with_o this_o good_a certain_o this_o be_v the_o peace_n that_o be_v infinite_o above_o all_o earthly_a thing_n what_o will_v not_o we_o do_v to_o purchase_v a_o good_a and_o sure_a peace_n here_o in_o the_o kingdom_n if_o we_o account_v a_o firm_a and_o sure_a peace_n to_o be_v so_o sweet_a will_v not_o we_o be_v willing_a to_o lay_v down_o our_o life_n certain_o that_o man_n or_o woman_n can_v be_v account_v to_o be_v a_o good_a member_n of_o a_o commonwealth_n that_o shall_v not_o be_v willing_a to_o lay_v down_o their_o life_n in_o such_o time_n as_o these_o to_o purchase_v a_o sure_a and_o firm_a peace_n but_o now_o here_o the_o gospel_n preach_v to_o you_o another_o manner_n of_o blessing_n than_o this_o outward_a peace_n the_o gospel_n hold_v forth_o unto_o you_o that_o peace_n that_o be_v purchase_v to_o you_o by_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n it_o be_v such_o a_o peace_n that_o christ_n think_v his_o own_o blood_n not_o too_o dear_a to_o lay_v down_o for_o the_o purchase_n of_o this_o peace_n of_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v that_o peace_n that_o pass_v all_o understanding_n a_o soul_n peace_n a_o everlasting_a peace_n and_o therefore_o you_o shall_v come_v to_o hear_v the_o gospel_n as_o the_o if_o any_o of_o your_o soul_n have_v have_v a_o peace_n before_o you_o have_v come_v to_o a_o right_a understanding_n of_o the_o gospel_n know_v that_o all_o that_o peace_n be_v nought_o it_o will_v undo_v you_o you_o will_v never_o have_v any_o good_a by_o it_o you_o have_v have_v peace_n in_o your_o own_o spirit_n a_o great_a while_n and_o you_o bless_v god_n

and_o powerful_a and_o sharp_a than_o any_o two_o edge_a sword_n pierce_v even_o to_o the_o divide_v asunder_o of_o soul_n and_o spirit_n and_o of_o the_o joint_n and_o marrow_n and_o be_v a_o discerner_n of_o the_o thought_n and_o intent_n of_o the_o heart_n the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n whensoever_o it_o come_v to_o any_o congregation_n it_o be_v no_o dull_a matter_n you_o may_v not_o look_v to_o sit_v dull_o under_o that_o but_o it_o be_v a_o quick_a word_n it_o will_v either_o slay_v thy_o sin_n or_o slay_v thy_o soul_n one_o of_o the_o two_o it_o must_v slay_v one_o and_o that_o under_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n under_o a_o sentence_n or_o further_o that_o sometime_o the_o lord_n give_v he_o up_o to_o himself_o to_o his_o own_o heart_n lust_n for_o this_o the_o gospel_n be_v the_o counsel_n of_o god_n for_o so_o it_o be_v call_v in_o one_o of_o the_o evangelist_n now_o mark_v what_o god_n deal_n be_v with_o those_o that_o reject_v but_o his_o counsel_n in_o have_v none_o of_o christ_n nor_o of_o my_o grace_n and_o mercy_n their_o heart_n be_v set_v upon_o their_o lust_n lust_n take_v they_o such_o a_o lust_n of_o uncleanness_n take_v they_o such_o a_o earthly_a lust_n take_v full_a possession_n of_o they_o the_o lord_n give_v they_o up_o to_o their_o own_o heart_n lust_n the_o lord_n say_v of_o they_o he_o that_o will_v be_v filthy_a let_v he_o be_v filthy_a still_o as_o you_o have_v it_o in_o revelation_n the_o last_o he_o that_o will_v be_v filthy_a let_v he_o be_v filthy_a and_o let_v he_o have_v the_o satisfy_n of_o his_o lust_n to_o be_v so_o provoke_v against_o this_o sin_n rather_o than_o another_o sin_n whatsoever_o it_o be_v for_o the_o open_v of_o the_o great_a evil_n that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n and_o rejection_n of_o the_o gospel_n you_o that_o understand_v any_o thing_n must_v needs_o know_v that_o it_o must_v require_v a_o very_a large_a time_n to_o open_v it_o all_o but_o in_o a_o very_a few_o particular_n take_v they_o thus_o you_o that_o reject_v the_o gospel_n you_o sin_n against_o the_o great_a mercy_n that_o ever_o god_n tender_v to_o creature_n he_o never_o tender_v such_o a_o mercy_n to_o the_o angel_n that_o sin_v against_o he_o as_o to_o you_o indeed_o here_o be_v the_o bowel_n of_o god_n mercy_n as_o the_o scripture_n call_v they_o the_o tender_a bowel_n of_o god_n mercy_n now_o to_o sin_n against_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v to_o spurn_v at_o the_o very_a bowel_n of_o god_n many_o man_n speak_v of_o mercy_n and_o desire_v to_o hear_v much_o of_o mercy_n o_o but_o you_o have_v need_n look_v to_o yourselves_o when_o you_o hear_v much_o of_o mercy_n for_o when_o you_o hear_v of_o mercy_n your_o soul_n lie_v at_o the_o stake_n one_o way_n or_o other_o god_n deal_v more_o quick_a with_o those_o that_o hear_v much_o of_o mercy_n than_o he_o do_v with_o other_o one_o sermon_n of_o mercy_n reject_v may_v send_v a_o man_n near_o to_o hell_n by_o far_o than_o ten_o sermon_n of_o judgement_n though_o you_o shall_v not_o reform_v after_o many_o sermon_n of_o judgement_n yet_o they_o do_v not_o make_v your_o condition_n so_o dangerous_a as_o one_o sermon_n of_o mercy_n and_o therefore_o you_o have_v need_n at_o any_o time_n when_o you_o hear_v mercy_n open_v to_o you_o you_o have_v need_n have_v your_o heart_n shake_v the_o more_o and_o tremble_v to_o with_o he_o be_v resolve_v he_o will_v not_o bear_v the_o abuse_n of_o his_o mercy_n and_o therefore_o you_o have_v need_n look_v to_o it_o when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v of_o mercy_n especial_o the_o mercy_n of_o the_o gospel_n there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o mercy_n in_o god_n work_n i_o but_o when_o he_o come_v to_o preach_v jesus_n christ_n to_o thou_o there_o be_v mercy_n of_o another_o nature_n there_o look_v to_o thyself_o if_o thou_o do_v dally_v and_o trifle_v with_o god_n mercy_n than_o thy_o condition_n will_v be_v most_o dreadful_a i_o will_v name_v these_o one_o or_o two_o argument_n to_o thou_o because_o when_o thou_o sin_v against_o the_o offer_n of_o the_o gospel_n than_o thou_o sin_v against_o the_o help_n of_o thy_o soul_n the_o mean_n to_o do_v thou_o good_a the_o preach_v of_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v as_o a_o board_n after_o shipwreck_n for_o every_o poor_a soul_n be_v as_o a_o man_n that_o have_v suffer_v shipwreck_n and_o he_o be_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o sea_n upon_o a_o board_n of_o the_o ship_n and_o there_o be_v all_o his_o help_n now_o be_v it_o not_o a_o mad_a thing_n for_o this_o man_n to_o put_v off_o this_o plank_n from_o he_o when_o he_o have_v no_o other_o help_n now_o we_o be_v ready_a to_o be_v swallow_v up_o of_o the_o sea_n of_o god_n wrath_n and_o now_o god_n cast_v in_o a_o plank_a to_o waft_v we_o to_o the_o shore_n if_o possible_o may_v be_v or_o rather_o thus_o the_o offer_n of_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v like_o the_o cast_n of_o a_o rope_n into_o a_o river_n unto_o a_o man_n that_o be_v in_o danger_n of_o drown_v there_o be_v a_o man_n that_o be_v fall_v into_o the_o thames_n and_o you_o can_v get_v he_o up_o but_o you_o will_v get_v a_o line_n and_o throw_v it_o into_o the_o place_n where_o he_o sink_v and_o there_o be_v no_o way_n for_o he_o to_o be_v save_v but_o only_o that_o now_o if_o such_o a_o man_n put_v off_o the_o time_n from_o he_o what_o help_n can_v there_o be_v of_o that_o man_n thus_o it_o be_v all_o man_n and_o woman_n natural_o they_o be_v even_o ready_a to_o sink_v into_o the_o bottomless_a gulf_n of_o eternal_a misery_n this_o be_v thy_o condition_n now_o the_o lord_n in_o mercy_n send_v his_o minister_n to_o come_v and_o make_v a_o offer_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o cast_v a_o line_n to_o congregation_n and_o make_v this_o proclamation_n in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n every_o soul_n that_o will_v
