up_o in_o the_o mind_n of_o many_o concern_v the_o way_n and_o mean_n by_o which_o people_n come_v to_o believe_v therein_o part_n iii_o a_o confutation_n of_o people_n false_a opinion_n concern_v the_o manner_n how_o we_o have_v be_v convince_v of_o the_o principle_n of_o true_a religion_n many_o and_o various_a be_v the_o report_n that_o have_v be_v rumour_v abroad_o relate_v to_o the_o manner_n &_o practice_n of_o this_o people_n in_o gain_v upon_o other_o to_o believe_v in_o the_o principle_n of_o truth_n which_o they_o bear_v witness_n of_o the_o principle_n of_o truth_n i_o call_v it_o for_o so_o my_o soul_n do_v witness_v it_o although_o i_o be_o not_o unsensible_a that_o such_o who_o do_v despise_v it_o will_v not_o stick_v to_o scandalize_v it_o and_o instead_o of_o call_v it_o by_o its_o true_a and_o proper_a name_n brand_v it_o with_o the_o opprobious_a term_n of_o heresy_n and_o schism_n sullen_a separation_n and_o the_o effect_n of_o a_o melancholy_a brain_n some_o of_o who_o not_o know_v the_o way_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o themselves_o and_o yet_o see_v the_o evident_a change_n which_o have_v be_v wrought_v upon_o other_o by_o virtue_n of_o the_o powerful_a operation_n of_o this_o spiritual_a principle_n or_o power_n of_o god_n in_o their_o conscience_n they_o have_v hereupon_o confident_o affirm_v the_o same_o to_o be_v effect_v by_o the_o art_n of_o witchcraft_n and_o diabolical_a enchantment_n which_o affirmation_n though_o false_a yet_o may_v it_o true_o be_v say_v to_o have_v be_v fix_v as_o a_o scarecrow_n or_o ghostly_a apparition_n to_o affrighten_v people_n from_o so_o much_o a_o look_n towards_o this_o religion_n but_o albeit_o it_o have_v be_v so_o intend_v yet_o through_o the_o mercy_n of_o our_o god_n there_o be_v a_o remnant_n who_o have_v not_o be_v so_o affright_v as_o to_o flee_v from_o but_o have_v be_v draw_v near_o to_o see_v and_o feel_v whether_o there_o be_v any_o substance_n in_o the_o same_o and_o such_o have_v find_v to_o their_o satisfaction_n that_o the_o substance_n of_o life_n have_v lie_v hide_v under_o this_o dark_a reflection_n which_o through_o the_o cloudiness_n of_o the_o understanding_n and_o prejudice_n that_o have_v be_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o people_n against_o the_o principle_n of_o light_n they_o have_v envious_o cast_v upon_o the_o profefsor_n of_o it_o as_o the_o mean_n whereby_o they_o convert_v and_o turn_v people_n to_o it_o allege_v it_o as_o matter_n of_o wonder_n that_o any_o shall_v be_v so_o strange_o alter_v both_o in_o countenance_n carriage_n and_o communication_n and_o that_o on_o a_o sudden_a too_o as_o some_o have_v be_v observe_v to_o be_v unless_o it_o be_v by_o the_o power_n of_o sorcery_n or_o some_o satanical_a possession_n and_o hence_o have_v they_o mock_v at_o and_o deride_v that_o godly_a fear_n and_o holy_a tremble_v that_o have_v be_v make_v to_o appear_v in_o some_o when_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o almighty_a take_v hold_v on_o they_o by_o reason_n of_o sin_n as_o though_o this_o be_v occasion_v through_o some_o frenzy_n humour_n be_v the_o product_n of_o natural_a weakness_n and_o defect_n or_o else_o produce_v by_o the_o invincible_a force_n of_o magic_a art_n which_o the_o creature_n can_v no_o way_n resist_v so_o that_o this_o have_v be_v a_o main_a argument_n why_o people_n shall_v not_o adventure_v themselves_o so_o much_o as_o to_o go_v into_o a_o quaker_n meeting_n for_o fear_v of_o the_o great_a danger_n that_o some_o suppose_v there_o be_v of_o be_v charm_v into_o that_o religion_n which_o fear_n have_v so_o much_o affright_v the_o heart_n of_o some_o that_o notwithstanding_o there_o be_v good_a desire_n in_o they_o after_o satisfaction_n in_o matter_n of_o religion_n and_o they_o have_v free_o confess_v even_o in_o my_o hear_n thaet_n this_o seem_v to_o be_v the_o way_n to_o attain_v the_o same_o yet_o they_o never_o be_v nor_o do_v they_o dare_v to_o come_v among_o this_o people_n to_o wit_n the_o quaker_n for_o fear_v of_o be_v forcible_o possess_v with_o the_o belief_n of_o their_o principle_n which_o if_o they_o shall_v receive_v and_o walk_v therein_o every_o one_o know_v what_o will_v follow_v thereupon_o this_o will_v certain_o expose_v they_o to_o the_o world_n hatred_n and_o scorn_n which_o the_o servant_n and_o people_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o all_o age_n wherefore_o i_o say_v the_o first_o mistake_n be_v gross_a for_o any_o thing_n of_o force_n which_o be_v that_o that_o some_o conclude_v to_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o my_o come_n among_o the_o people_n of_o religion_n and_o teach_v such_o who_o learn_v of_o he_o in_o meekness_n to_o instruct_v those_o that_o be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o way_n of_o truth_n and_o then_o patient_o to_o wait_v till_o he_o incline_v their_o heart_n to_o walk_v in_o it_o so_o that_o have_v their_o dependence_n upon_o and_o expectation_n from_o the_o lord_n alone_o they_o dare_v not_o attempt_v the_o propagation_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o his_o dear_a son_n by_o the_o strength_n and_o in_o the_o skill_n and_o time_n of_o man_n without_o be_v guide_v direct_v and_o subject_v by_o he_o in_o who_o be_v all_o their_o help_n find_v this_o as_o to_o the_o first_o mistake_n but_o the_o second_o mistake_n amount_v to_o thus_o much_o viz._n that_o what_o can_v not_o be_v wrought_v upon_o i_o by_o constraint_n and_o with_o those_o who_o they_o design_v to_o make_v their_o proselyte_n in_o answer_v whereunto_o i_o shall_v make_v this_o reply_n this_o mistake_n be_v obvious_a for_o promise_n of_o outward_a advantage_n and_o worldly_a good_a avail_v nothing_o that_o can_v stand_v the_o soul_n instead_o therefore_o it_o be_v altogether_o imprudent_a as_o well_o as_o utter_o unlawful_a to_o propose_v any_o thing_n of_o such_o a_o kind_n upon_o this_o occasion_n neither_o indeed_o be_v it_o outward_a advancement_n that_o i_o seek_v after_o although_o this_o be_v a_o reproach_n i_o have_v be_v make_v to_o bear_v the_o lord_n be_v my_o witness_n herein_o who_o subject_v i_o unto_o himself_o and_o make_v i_o willing_a to_o be_v at_o his_o dispose_n and_o to_o have_v my_o lot_n cast_v by_o he_o the_o particular_a i_o do_v declare_v there_o be_v no_o way_n by_o which_o they_o do_v insinuate_v into_o i_o but_o by_o be_v find_v real_a in_o what_o they_o appear_v to_o be_v the_o heart-searching_a god_n have_v then_o put_v my_o soul_n upon_o search_n to_o find_v out_o a_o people_n with_o who_o i_o may_v join_v as_o with_o a_o communion_n of_o saint_n i_o look_v here_o and_o there_o into_o many_o assembly_n but_o alas_o still_o i_o see_v their_o conversation_n so_o much_o contradict_v their_o profession_n that_o i_o can_v hearty_o join_v with_o none_o of_o they_o and_o then_o as_o to_o their_o principle_n some_o indeed_o i_o do_v believe_v when_o i_o hear_v they_o declare_v but_o other_o some_o god_n witness_n in_o my_o conscience_n do_v so_o testify_v against_o that_o they_o i_o
