power_n to_o believe_v but_o all_o have_v not_o a_o will_n or_o faith_n itself_o because_o we_o use_v to_o difference_n power_n from_o willingness_n and_o willingness_n actuate_v the_o power_n which_o from_o your_o fleshly_a pleasure_n and_o honour_n and_o profit_n of_o the_o world_n these_o be_v all_o go_v and_o pass_v already_o and_o there_o be_v no_o far_a need_n to_o bid_v they_o depart_v from_o these_o house_n and_o land_n be_v go_v mirth_n and_o recreation_n be_v go_v their_o sweet_a morsel_n and_o cup_n be_v go_v all_o the_o honour_n that_o man_n can_v give_v they_o be_v go_v before_o they_o be_v set_v at_o christ_n bar_n to_o be_v judge_v but_o from_o all_o expectation_n of_o ever_o enjoy_v these_o again_o or_o ever_o taste_v their_o former_a delight_n from_o these_o vain_o trouble_v ourselves_o to_o inquire_v it_o be_v enough_o to_o know_v that_o as_o fire_n be_v one_o of_o the_o most_o grievous_a tormentor_n of_o the_o flesh_n so_o grievous_a will_v be_v those_o to_o they_o at_o their_o fall_n 4._o it_o seem_v that_o the_o reason_n why_o here_o be_v no_o mention_n of_o prepare_v hell-fire_n for_o the_o wicked_a but_o only_o for_o the_o devil_n be_v not_o because_o indeed_o it_o be_v not_o prepare_v also_o for_o the_o wicked_a but_o to_o note_v that_o it_o be_v the_o torment_n which_o be_v first_o prepare_v for_o or_o assign_v to_o the_o devil_n thereby_o show_v the_o greatness_n of_o the_o misery_n
of_o the_o wicked_a that_o the_o devil_n and_o his_o angel_n must_v be_v their_o companion_n though_o some_o think_v as_o be_v say_v before_o that_o the_o reason_n why_o wicked_a man_n be_v not_o mention_v there_o be_v because_o they_o be_v part_n of_o the_o angel_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o so_o include_v and_o some_o think_v it_o be_v purposely_o to_o manifest_v god_n general_a love_n to_o mankind_n that_o prepare_v not_o hell_n for_o they_o but_o they_o cast_v themselves_o into_o the_o hell_n prepare_v for_o the_o devil_n but_o the_o first_o seem_v to_o be_v the_o true_a sense_n and_o how_o apparent_o righteous_a be_v the_o judgement_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o those_o man_n who_o will_v here_o entertain_v the_o devil_n into_o their_o heart_n and_o daily_a familiarity_n shall_v be_v then_o entertain_v by_o he_o into_o his_o place_n of_o torment_n and_o there_o remain_v for_o ever_o in_o his_o society_n though_o few_o entertain_v he_o into_o visible_a familiarity_n with_o their_o body_n as_o witch_n do_v who_o so_o make_v he_o their_o familiar_a yet_o all_o wicked_a man_n do_v entertain_v he_o into_o more_o full_a and_o constant_a familiarity_n with_o their_o soul_n than_o these_o witch_n do_v with_o their_o body_n how_o familiar_a be_v he_o in_o thought_n to_o fill_v they_o with_o vanity_n lust_n or_o revenge_n how_o familiar_a be_v he_o in_o their_o heart_n to_o fill_v they_o with_o covertousness_n malice_n pride_n or_o the_o like_a evil_n and_o to_o banish_v all_o thought_n of_o return_v to_o god_n and_o to_o quench_v every_o motion_n that_o tend_v to_o their_o recovery_n how_o familiar_a be_v he_o with_o they_o even_o when_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v worship_v god_n in_o the_o public_a assembly_n steal_v the_o word_n out_o of_o their_o heart_n fill_v they_o with_o vain_a and_o wander_a thought_n blind_a their_o mind_n that_o they_o can_v understand_v the_o plain_a word_n that_o we_o be_v able_a to_o speak_v to_o they_o and_o fill_v they_o with_o a_o proud_a rebellion_n against_o the_o direction_n of_o their_o teacher_n and_o a_o obstinate_a refusal_n to_o be_v rule_v by_o they_o be_v the_o matter_n never_o so_o necessary_a to_o their_o own_o salvation_n how_o familiar_a be_v these_o evil_a spirit_n in_o their_o house_n fill_v they_o with_o ignorance_n worldliness_n and_o ungodliness_n and_o turn_v out_o god_n service_n so_o that_o they_o do_v not_o pray_v together_o once_o in_o a_o day_n or_o perhaps_o at_o all_o how_o familiar_o do_v satan_n use_v their_o tongue_n in_o curse_v swear_v lie_v ribaldry_n backbiting_a or_o slander_v and_o be_v it_o not_o just_a with_o god_n to_o make_v these_o fiend_n their_o familiar_n in_o torment_n with_o who_o they_o entertain_v such_o familiarity_n in_o sin_n as_o christ_n with_o all_o the_o bless_a angel_n and_o saint_n will_v make_v but_o one_o kingdom_n or_o family_n and_o shall_v live_v altogether_o in_o perpetual_a delight_n so_o the_o devil_n and_o all_o his_o hellish_a angel_n and_o wicked_a man_n shall_v make_v but_o one_o household_n and_o shall_v live_v altogether_o in_o perpetual_a misery_n o_o poor_a sinner_n you_o be_v not_o trouble_v now_o at_o his_o presence_n and_o power_n in_o your_o heart_n but_o will_v you_o not_o then_o be_v trouble_v at_o his_o presence_n and_o torment_a power_n as_o long_o as_o you_o do_v not_o see_v he_o let_v he_o do_v what_o he_o will_v with_o you_o it_o grieve_v you_o little_a or_o nothing_o at_o all_o but_o what_o will_v you_o say_v when_o you_o must_v see_v he_o and_o abide_v with_o he_o for_o ever_o o_o sir_n his_o name_n be_v easy_o hear_v but_o his_o company_n will_v be_v terrible_a to_o the_o stout_a heart_n alive_a he_o show_v you_o a_o smile_a face_n when_o he_o tempt_v you_o but_o he_o have_v a_o grim_a face_n to_o tempt_a shape_n till_o he_o have_v they_o fast_o tie_v to_o he_o and_o then_o he_o beat_v they_o and_o affright_v they_o and_o seldom_o appear_v to_o they_o but_o in_o some_o ugly_a hew_v believe_v it_o poor_a sinner_n you_o do_v not_o hear_v or_o see_v the_o worst_a of_o he_o when_o you_o be_v merry_a about_o your_o sinful_a pleasure_n and_o rejoice_v in_o your_o hope_n of_o the_o commodity_n or_o preferment_n of_o the_o world_n he_o have_v another_o kind_n of_o voice_n which_o you_o must_v hear_v and_o another_o face_n to_o show_v you_o that_o will_v make_v you_o know_v a_o little_o better_a who_o you_o have_v to_o do_v with_o you_o will_v be_v afraid_a now_o to_o meet_v he_o in_o the_o dark_a what_o will_v you_o be_v to_o live_v with_o he_o in_o everlasting_a darkness_n then_o you_o will_v know_v who_o it_o be_v that_o you_o entertain_v and_o obey_v and_o play_v with_o in_o your_o sin_n 3._o and_o as_o the_o text_n tell_v we_o that_o it_o be_v a_o fire_n prepare_v for_o the_o devil_n and_o his_o angel_n so_o it_o tell_v we_o that_o it_o be_v a_o everlasting_a fire_n it_o have_v a_o beginning_n but_o it_o shall_v have_v no_o end_n if_o these_o wretch_n will_v have_v choose_v the_o service_n of_o god_n they_o will_v have_v meet_v with_o no_o difficulty_n or_o trouble_v but_o what_o will_v have_v have_v a_o speedy_a end_n poverty_n and_o injury_n will_v have_v have_v a_o end_n scorn_n and_o abuse_n will_v have_v have_v a_o end_n fast_v humiliation_n sorrow_n for_o sin_n watch_v and_o fight_v against_o our_o spiritual_a enemy_n will_v all_o have_v have_v a_o end_n but_o to_o avoid_v these_o they_o choose_v that_o ease_n that_o pleasure_n which_o have_v bring_v they_o to_o that_o torment_n which_o never_o will_v have_v end_n i_o have_v say_v so_o much_o of_o these_o thing_n already_o in_o my_o book_n call_v the_o saint_n rest_v that_o i_o will_v now_o say_v but_o this_o much_o it_o be_v one_o of_o the_o wonder_n of_o the_o world_n how_o man_n that_o do_v believe_v or_o think_v they_o do_v believe_v this_o word_n of_o christ_n to_o be_v true_a that_o the_o wicked_a shall_v go_v into_o everlasting_a fire_n can_v yet_o venture_v on_o sin_n so_o bold_o and_o live_v in_o it_o so_o fearless_o or_o sleep_v quiet_o till_o they_o be_v out_o of_o this_o unspeakable_a danger_n only_o the_o commonness_n of_o it_o and_o the_o know_a wickedness_n of_o man_n heart_n do_v make_v this_o less_o wonderful_a and_o be_v there_o nothing_o else_o to_o convince_v we_o that_o sinner_n be_v mad_a and_o dead_a as_o to_o spiritual_a thing_n this_o be_v enough_o that_o ever_o the_o great_a pleasure_n or_o profit_n of_o the_o world_n or_o the_o most_o entice_a bait_n that_o the_o devil_n can_v offer_v they_o shall_v once_o prevail_v with_o they_o to_o forget_v these_o endless_a thing_n and_o draw_v they_o to_o reject_v a_o everlasting_a glory_n and_o cast_v themselves_o desperate_o into_o everlasting_a fire_n yea_o and_o all_o this_o under_o daily_a short_a a_o time_n to_o this_o assize_n what_o soul_n that_o be_v not_o dead_a will_v be_v secure_a alas_o sir_n what_o be_v a_o little_a time_n when_o it_o be_v go_v how_o quick_o shall_v you_o and_o it_o will_v be_v so_o with_o the_o great_a part_n of_o we_o and_o what_o be_v a_o year_n or_o two_o or_o 100_o how_o speedy_o be_v it_o come_v how_o many_o a_o soul_n that_o be_v now_o in_o heaven_n or_o hell_n within_o 100_o year_n dwell_v in_o the_o place_n that_o you_o now_o dwell_v in_o and_o sit_v in_o the_o seat_n you_o now_o sit_v in_o and_o now_o their_o time_n be_v past_a what_o be_v it_o alas_o how_o quick_o will_v it_o be_v so_o with_o we_o you_o know_v not_o when_o you_o go_v to_o bed_n but_o you_o may_v be_v judge_v by_o the_o next_o morning_n or_o when_o you_o rise_v but_o you_o not_o methinks_v a_o man_n that_o know_v he_o shall_v be_v judge_v shall_v ask_v himself_o the_o question_n every_o day_n of_o his_o life_n be_o i_o ready_a to_o give_v up_o my_o account_n to_o god_n do_v not_o you_o use_v to_o ask_v this_o of_o your_o own_o heart_n unless_o you_o be_v careless_a whether_o you_o be_v save_v or_o damn_v methinks_v you_o shall_v and_o ask_v it_o serious_o qu._n but_o who_o be_v they_o that_o be_v ready_a how_o shall_v i_o know_v whether_o i_o be_v ready_a or_o not_o answ_n there_o be_v a_o twofold_a readiness_n 1._o when_o you_o be_v in_o a_o safe_a cafe_z 2._o when_o you_o be_v in_o a_o comfortable_a cafe_z in_o regard_n of_o that_o day_n the_o latter_a be_v very_o desiraeble_a but_o the_o first_o be_v of_o absolute_a necessity_n this_o therefore_o be_v it_o that_o you_o must_v principal_o inquire_v after_o in_o general_n all_o those_o and_o only_o those_o be_v ready_a for_o judgement_n who_o shall_v be_v justify_v and_o save_v and_o not_o condemn_v when_o judgement_n corâ—es_v they_o that_o have_v a_o good_a cause_n in_o a_o gospel-sense_n it_o may_v be_v know_v before_o hand_n who_o these_o be_v for_o christ_n judge_v as_o i_o bring_v they_o to_o mind_v the_o matter_n of_o another_o world_n if_o i_o speak_v but_o to_o man_n that_o have_v life_n and_o sense_n and_o reason_n but_o when_o we_o speak_v to_o block_n and_o dead_a man_n how_o shall_v we_o be_v regard_v o_o how_o sad_a a_o case_n be_v these_o soul_n in_o that_o be_v fall_v under_o this_o fearful_a judgement_n of_o spiritual_a madness_n and_o deadness_n to_o life_n and_o sense_n and_o therefore_o if_o they_o want_v meat_n or_o drink_v or_o clothes_n will_v feel_v their_o want_n and_o tell_v they_o of_o it_o and_o give_v they_o no_o rest_n till_o their_o want_n be_v supply_v and_o therefore_o they_o can_v make_v light_n of_o their_o bodily_a necessity_n but_o their_o soul_n in_o spiritual_a respect_n be_v dead_a and_o therefore_o â—eel_v not_o their_o want_n but_o will_v let_v they_o alone_o in_o their_o great_a necessity_n and_o be_v as_o quiet_v when_o they_o be_v starve_v and_o languish_a to_o destruction_n as_o if_o all_o be_v well_o and_o nothing_o ail_v they_o and_o hereupon_o poor_a people_n be_v whole_o take_v up_o in_o provide_v for_o the_o body_n as_o if_o they_o have_v nothing_o else_o to_o mind_n they_o have_v their_o trade_n and_o calling_n to_o follow_v and_o so_o much_o to_o do_v from_o morning_n to_o night_n that_o they_o can_v find_v no_o time_n for_o matter_n of_o salvation_n christ_n will_v teach_v they_o but_o
