sin_n that_o be_v but_o for_o a_o season_n and_o these_o deed_n of_o darkness_n these_o sin_n of_o we_o we_o have_v commit_v in_o the_o open_a light_n of_o thy_o gospel_n contrary_a to_o the_o plain_a pray_v to_o thy_o father_n which_o be_v in_o secret_a and_o thy_o father_n which_o see_v in_o secret_n shall_v reward_v thou_o open_o nor_o can_v i_o well_o see_v how_o that_o man_n be_v ever_o like_a to_o hold_v on_o in_o a_o religious_a course_n of_o life_n who_o be_v not_o wont_a thus_o private_o to_o betake_v himself_o to_o god_n there_o to_o make_v his_o particular_a confession_n petition_n and_o return_n of_o praise_n and_o to_o ease_v himself_o of_o whatever_o burden_n lie_v on_o his_o mind_n which_o before_o other_o he_o can_v so_o free_o do_v and_o in_o these_o private_a prayer_n there_o be_v not_o common_o so_o much_o need_v of_o a_o form_n all_o our_o work_n now_o be_v to_o express_v the_o desire_n of_o our_o own_o soul_n to_o god_n only_o even_o to_o such_o a_o god_n as_o look_n at_o the_o sincerity_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o not_o at_o the_o nimbleness_n or_o eloquence_n of_o our_o tongue_n nor_o indeed_o be_v it_o likely_a any_o form_n shall_v full_o reach_v to_o every_o man_n particular_a case_n but_o your_o best_a help_n will_v be_v to_o get_v well_o acquaint_v with_o the_o state_n of_o your_o own_o soul_n to_o know_v well_o your_o sin_n your_o temptation_n your_o necessity_n and_o danger_n and_o to_o get_v deep_o affect_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o your_o spiritual_a and_o eternal_a concernment_n and_o then_o do_v but_o with_o uprightness_n and_o humility_n represent_v the_o very_a inward_a sense_n of_o your_o soul_n to_o god_n in_o the_o name_n of_o his_o son_n jesus_n and_o you_o shall_v never_o fail_v of_o acceptance_n through_o any_o weakness_n of_o expression_n yea_o remember_v it_o be_v this_o inward_a sincerity_n of_o heart_n that_o must_v at_o all_o time_n accompany_v your_o prayer_n if_o ever_o you_o hope_v for_o acceptance_n and_o therefore_o before_o i_o conclude_v let_v i_o make_v it_o my_o earnest_a request_n to_o you_o that_o you_o take_v special_a heed_n to_o the_o frame_n of_o your_o heart_n whenever_o you_o come_v before_o god_n in_o prayer_n as_o in_o all_o other_o holy_a duty_n you_o ought_v think_v it_o not_o enough_o to_o speak_v a_o few_o good_a word_n upon_o your_o knee_n evening_n and_o morning_n with_o a_o seem_a reverence_n whilst_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n your_o heart_n be_v never_o move_v or_o affect_v with_o what_o you_o be_v do_v this_o be_v such_o a_o lip-service_n as_o neither_o will_v be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n nor_o will_v do_v any_o good_a to_o yourselves_o leave_v it_o to_o poor_a ignorant_a and_o delude_v papist_n to_o number_v their_o prayer_n by_o their_o bead_n and_o to_o think_v they_o have_v serve_v god_n very_o well_o when_o they_o have_v patter_v over_o so_o many_o creed_n pater-noster_n and_o ave-maries_a a_o devotion_n which_o a_o parrot_n may_v go_v near_o to_o learn_v and_o sufficient_o show_v that_o ignorance_n be_v the_o mother_n of_o it_o but_o you_o who_o through_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n do_v live_v in_o a_o church_n where_o you_o have_v be_v better_o teach_v do_v you_o show_v forth_o the_o fruit_n of_o your_o teach_n and_o knowledge_n and_o that_o by_o offer_v up_o to_o god_n those_o service_n which_o beseem_v reasonable_a creature_n and_o which_o be_v suit_v to_o the_o nature_n of_o he_o who_o you_o serve_v who_o be_v a_o spirit_n and_o will_v be_v worship_v in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n who_o be_v a_o live_a god_n and_o will_v not_o be_v put_v off_o with_o a_o dead_a carcase_n with_o the_o bare_a move_v of_o lip_n the_o noise_n of_o word_n or_o posture_n of_o the_o body_n but_o will_v have_v all_o the_o power_n and_o faculty_n of_o our_o soul_n employ_v in_o the_o duty_n we_o perform_v to_o he_o this_o be_v part_n of_o that_o reasonable_a service_n which_o he_o now_o especial_o require_v from_o we_o instead_o of_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o beast_n and_o the_o burden_n of_o lifeless_a ceremony_n which_o be_v use_v in_o the_o jewish_a church_n before_o christ_n come_n rom._n 12._o 1._o see_v then_o i_o beseech_v you_o that_o your_o our_o chief_a business_n have_v be_v to_o seek_v after_o it_o and_o whilst_o we_o have_v speak_v much_o of_o the_o joy_n of_o heaven_n and_o with_o our_o tongue_n have_v extol_v they_o yet_o we_o have_v take_v little_a pain_n to_o make_v sure_a of_o they_o by_o walk_v in_o those_o way_n of_o holiness_n which_o can_v only_o bring_v we_o to_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o they_o yea_o these_o and_o such_o like_a confession_n as_o these_o have_v we_o often_o make_v before_o thou_o and_o yet_o still_o have_v continue_v in_o the_o very_a same_o temper_n of_o mind_n and_o course_n of_o life_n which_o we_o acknowledge_v to_o be_v so_o exceed_o sinful_a and_o dangerous_a as_o if_o we_o think_v it_o enough_o for_o we_o to_o condemn_v our_o way_n without_o reform_v they_o to_o confess_v our_o sin_n without_o forsake_v they_o the_o very_a sin_n of_o our_o prayer_n themselves_o the_o hypocrisy_n we_o have_v therein_o be_v guilty_a of_o be_v enough_o for_o our_o condemnation_n often_o have_v we_o pray_v that_o thou_o will_v vouchsafe_v to_o keep_v we_o without_o sin_n and_o yet_o present_o we_o ourselves_o have_v careless_o and_o wilful_o run_v into_o it_o and_o when_o we_o have_v be_v beg_v that_o the_o rest_n of_o our_o life_n may_v be_v pure_a and_o holy_a we_o have_v straightway_o go_v and_o pollute_v ourselves_o with_o impure_a and_o ungodly_a action_n and_o after_o we_o have_v go_v from_o the_o hear_n and_o read_v of_o thy_o holy_a word_n we_o have_v quick_o forget_v and_o disobey_v it_o what_o then_o shall_v we_o say_v unto_o the_o most_o righteous_a god_n or_o wherewith_o
