man_n be_v ashamed_a to_o reveal_v and_o be_v it_o possible_a they_o will_v conceal_v they_o from_o god_n himself_o and_o therefore_o they_o often_o strive_v to_o keep_v they_o in_o their_o private_a bosom_n until_o they_o become_v so_o heavy_a &_o burdensome_a as_o they_o can_v no_o long_o bear_v they_o without_o unspeakable_a horror_n and_o unquietuesse_v of_o mind_n until_o they_o become_v as_o a_o worm_n so_o venomous_a in_o the_o conscience_n as_o eat_v and_o devour_v all_o peace_n and_o comfort_n of_o the_o heart_n which_o the_o devil_n seek_v continual_o to_o feed_v and_o aggravate_v the_o sin_n grievous_o in_o the_o mind_n of_o a_o poor_a sinner_n that_o he_o begin_v to_o faint_a and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o sink_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o his_o afflict_a conscience_n which_o be_v the_o most_o heavy_a cross_v of_o all_o cross_n a_o burrhen_n importable_a where_o it_o light_v and_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v in_o some_o measure_n thy_o own_o case_n and_o be_v indeed_o to_o abase_v himself_o in_o his_o sight_n nor_o a_o thing_n more_o offensive_a than_o a_o man_n to_o exalt_v himself_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o greatness_n of_o his_o wealth_n which_o he_o arrogate_v to_o himself_o as_o if_o it_o be_v his_o own_o when_o in_o deed_n it_o be_v but_o lend_v he_o and_o therefore_o god_n often_o time_n take_v it_o from_o one_o and_o give_v it_o to_o other_o and_o in_o steed_n of_o his_o wealth_n give_v he_o want_v that_o he_o may_v know_v that_o it_o be_v neither_o in_o the_o wisdom_n nor_o by_o the_o diligence_n of_o man_n either_o to_o get_v or_o to_o retain_v his_o wealth_n get_v without_o the_o mere_a mercy_n and_o blessing_n of_o god_n but_o where_o true_a faith_n in_o god_n be_v join_v with_o godly_a care_n and_o diligence_n in_o a_o lawful_a call_n there_o want_v not_o prayer_n and_o where_o faith_n and_o faithful_a prayer_n be_v there_o be_v true_a prosperity_n and_o to_o that_o man_n prosperity_n a_o little_a mean_n suffice_v to_o sustain_v and_o to_o consume_v it_o wasteful_o in_o evil_a company_n keep_v by_o game_n &_o riot_n be_v worse_a than_o idleness_n itself_o which_o yet_o in_o himself_o be_v a_o capital_a sin_n one_o of_o those_o for_o which_o sodom_n gomorah_n etc._n etc._n be_v burn_v to_o ash_n for_o idleness_n be_v in_o that_o city_n as_o it_o be_v wheresoever_o it_o reign_v the_o cause_n of_o many_o other_o sin_n as_o of_o luxury_n sin_n drunkenness_n whoredom_n and_o all_o other_o most_o monstrous_a and_o most_o abominable_a vice_n yet_o do_v all_o these_o common_o accompany_v wealth_n easy_o get_v as_o when_o a_o man_n find_v he_o have_v mean_n come_v daily_o in_o light_o without_o labour_n he_o measure_v it_o not_o by_o the_o uncertainty_n of_o the_o continuance_n as_o appear_v by_o his_o wanton_a and_o needless_a expense_n but_o by_o a_o vain_a hope_n it_o will_v last_v ever_o but_o if_o thou_o become_v poor_a and_o thus_o cast_v down_o by_o the_o love_a hand_n of_o god_n to_o call_v thou_o from_o thy_o sin_n as_o by_o loss_n of_o good_n by_o sickness_n fire_n shipwreck_n or_o the_o like_a inevitable_a cross_n procure_v thou_o may_v account_v they_o fatherly_a correction_n and_o may_v rather_o rejoice_v in_o then_o to_o repine_v at_o they_o for_o he_o inflict_v this_o want_n of_o thy_o former_a fullness_n as_o physic_v to_o purge_v thy_o corrupt_a heart_n of_o thy_o carnal_a delight_n and_o from_o abuse_v of_o thy_o liberty_n as_o thou_o have_v do_v which_o breed_v in_o thou_o security_n and_o security_n sin_n and_o forgetfulness_n of_o thy_o duty_n to_o god_n as_o in_o that_o rich_a glutton_n in_o the_o gospel_n who_o have_v plenty_n of_o all_o thing_n delightful_a to_o his_o carnal_a part_n become_v so_o delicious_a as_o he_o fare_v dainty_o every_o day_n rich_o roab_v in_o fine_a linen_n and_o yet_o so_o hard_o heart_v as_o although_o he_o see_v poor_a miserable_a lazarus_n hungry_a and_o naked_a lie_v at_o his_o gate_n full_a of_o sore_n cry_v for_o some_o withhold_v his_o dear_a child_n from_o run_v astray_o although_o it_o can_v be_v deny_v also_o but_o that_o a_o faithless_a poor_a man_n may_v have_v his_o heart_n infect_v and_o poison_a with_o as_o heinous_a sin_n as_o the_o rich_a for_o it_o be_v not_o wealth_n that_o always_o make_v a_o wicked_a man_n though_o it_o be_v a_o great_a temptation_n and_o provocation_n to_o many_o and_o grievous_a sin_n it_o be_v not_o the_o money_n but_o the_o mind_n wherein_o the_o error_n lie_v and_o it_o be_v not_o poverty_n evil_n of_o itself_o or_o any_o other_o cross_n that_o make_v a_o evil_a man_n good_a but_o it_o be_v a_o mean_n which_o god_n in_o his_o wisdom_n use_v to_o prevent_v the_o danger_n that_o wealth_n often_o work_v a_o knife_n in_o a_o child_n hand_n hurt_v not_o but_o he_o be_v a_o silly_a father_n and_o she_o a_o simple_a nurse_n that_o will_v not_o takâ—_n it_o from_o the_o child_n for_o fear_n of_o the_o hurt_n it_o may_v do_v the_o child_n so_o riches_n of_o themselves_o hurt_v not_o but_o the_o abuse_n of_o they_o may_v pervert_v the_o repute_a owner_n for_o no_o man_n be_v the_o true_a owner_n of_o the_o wealth_n he_o possess_v he_o be_v but_o a_o disposer_n of_o it_o and_o it_o be_v the_o well_o use_v or_o abuse_v of_o it_o that_o draw_v upon_o the_o steward_n a_o blessing_n or_o a_o curse_n if_o thou_o that_o be_v become_v poor_a and_o do_v acknowledge_v it_o just_o lay_v upon_o thou_o it_o be_v the_o entrance_n into_o assurance_n that_o god_n have_v lay_v it_o upon_o thou_o in_o mercy_n riches_n if_o in_o mercy_n then_o no_o doubt_n but_o in_o love_n be_v assure_v that_o thy_o poverty_n be_v better_a for_o thou_o then_o riches_n for_o he_o know_v better_a than_o thou_o what_o be_v best_a for_o thou_o take_v it_o therefore_o with_o patience_n in_o
