whosoever_o therefore_o shall_v humble_v himself_o as_o this_o little_a child_n the_o same_o be_v great_a in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n his_o meaning_n be_v not_o of_o they_o or_o such_o as_o appear_v to_o be_v the_o common_a and_o ordinary_a privilege_n of_o the_o child_n of_o the_o faithful_a 2._o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d whereas_o christ_n say_v of_o such_o be_v the_o kingdom_n though_o our_o translator_n render_v it_o to_o such_o belong_v because_o the_o idiom_n of_o our_o language_n will_v not_o so_o well_o bear_v the_o other_o phrase_n it_o imply_v that_o such_o be_v already_o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n or_o visible_a church_n as_o subject_n and_o member_n thereof_o whereas_o if_o christ_n have_v say_v belong_v to_o they_o it_o may_v have_v be_v understand_v for_o the_o future_a in_o a_o remote_a possibility_n as_o the_o inheritance_n belong_v to_o the_o infant-heir_n though_o he_o be_v not_o in_o present_a possession_n viz._n that_o when_o they_o shall_v come_v to_o ripe_a year_n they_o may_v be_v external_o call_v and_o so_o bring_v within_o the_o church_n whereas_o this_o expression_n of_o our_o saviour_n show_v that_o such_o be_v already_o within_o christ_n kingdom_n 2._o though_o we_o shall_v mistake_v this_o place_n as_o the_o objector_n charge_v we_o in_o that_o we_o will_v gather_v hence_o that_o child_n be_v to_o be_v admit_v to_o christ_n and_o have_v the_o seal_n of_o spiritual_a blessing_n whereas_o he_o will_v make_v it_o the_o scope_n of_o this_o place_n not_o that_o they_o or_o such_o as_o they_o in_o age_n the_o child_n to_o christ_n shall_v be_v mistake_v in_o their_o end_n see_v none_o of_o the_o evangelist_n speak_v of_o they_o as_o mistake_v but_o rather_o mention_v their_o act_n by_o way_n of_o approbation_n which_o be_v for_o prayer_n and_o imposition_n of_o hand_n to_o confer_v and_o signify_v spiritual_a blessing_n which_o be_v the_o peculiar_a privilege_n of_o god_n kingdom_n or_o if_o they_o shall_v so_o far_o mistake_v themselves_o as_o to_o come_v for_o christ_n blessing_n for_o their_o child_n though_o uncapable_a it_o be_v not_o probable_a but_o christ_n will_v have_v reprove_v they_o for_o their_o error_n before_o he_o admit_v they_o and_o have_v tell_v they_o that_o he_o will_v receive_v they_o to_o he_o only_o that_o they_o may_v be_v pattern_n of_o humility_n and_o such_o like_a qualification_n to_o his_o disciple_n but_o not_o so_o as_o if_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n do_v belong_v to_o they_o or_o such_o as_o they_o be_v in_o age_n and_o understanding_n lest_o he_o shall_v harden_v they_o in_o their_o error_n but_o if_o christ_n shall_v have_v forbear_v to_o tell_v they_o of_o their_o error_n and_o make_v use_n of_o it_o that_o he_o may_v set_v before_o his_o hearer_n a_o pattern_n of_o humility_n and_o such_o qualification_n yet_o sure_o christ_n himself_o will_v not_o so_o far_o mistake_v as_o to_o lay_v his_o hand_n on_o and_o bless_v they_o that_o be_v uncapable_a of_o his_o blessing_n as_o they_o must_v needs_o be_v if_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n belong_v not_o to_o they_o nor_o any_o such_o for_o age_n for_o christ_n blessing_n of_o person_n so_o solemn_o represent_v and_o signify_v or_o seal_v with_o imposition_n of_o hand_n be_v doubtless_o the_o privilege_n of_o his_o kingdom_n so_o that_o this_o charge_n of_o mistake_n which_o the_o objector_n make_v must_v lie_v on_o the_o objector_n himself_o or_o christ_n 3._o it_o can_v be_v prove_v that_o these_o word_n whosoever_o receive_v not_o etc._n etc._n be_v bring_v as_o a_o reason_n of_o that_o say_n of_o such_o be_v the_o kingdom_n it_o be_v not_o join_v to_o the_o former_a sentence_n by_o a_o causal_n particle_n but_o rather_o it_o be_v bring_v as_o pattern_n to_o the_o more_o ripe_a and_o age_a 4._o that_o place_n mat._n 18.34_o nothing_o pertain_v to_o this_o history_n for_o it_o speak_v of_o christ_n teach_n his_o disciple_n humility_n of_o which_o doctrine_n he_o take_v occasion_n from_o his_o disciple_n pride_n and_o emulation_n which_o discover_v itself_o in_o that_o question_n who_o be_v great_a in_o the_o kingdom_n by_o set_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o there_o be_v no_o mention_n of_o take_v in_o his_o arm_n a_o little_a child_n and_o therefore_o though_o this_o sentence_n may_v somewhat_o illustrate_v the_o late_a of_o these_o reason_n in_o mark_n and_o luke_n yet_o it_o belong_v not_o to_o this_o history_n or_o doctrine_n that_o be_v principal_o and_o purposely_o handle_v therein_o 5._o but_o to_o make_v it_o evident_a that_o christ_n when_o he_o say_v of_o such_o be_v the_o kingdom_n mean_v it_o of_o these_o very_a child_n and_o such_o as_o they_o in_o respect_n of_o age_n take_v these_o reason_n 1._o the_o question_n be_v not_o whether_o such_o as_o be_v endue_v with_o humility_n and_o like_a qualification_n may_v come_v to_o christ_n but_o whether_o those_o infant_n and_o such_o as_o they_o for_o age_n may_v the_o parent_n or_o whosoever_o bring_v they_o who_o piety_n be_v here_o approve_a desire_v not_o that_o those_o
