other_o time_n he_o be_v content_a to_o suffer_v hunger_n and_o cold_a contempt_n and_o the_o vile_a injury_n to_o undergo_v long_o watch_v in_o prayer_n and_o fast_v for_o so_o it_o behove_v he_o even_o in_o this_o sense_n also_o to_o perform_v all_o righteousness_n who_o be_v to_o be_v the_o grand_a exemplar_n to_o all_o succeed_a age_n not_o to_o confine_v himself_o to_o any_o one_o method_n of_o life_n lest_o thereby_o his_o example_n shall_v become_v deficient_a to_o those_o who_o shall_v be_v engage_v in_o another_o but_o to_o pass_v through_o all_o the_o more_o ordinary_a action_n pride_n and_o arrogance_n than_o any_o other_o act_n either_o of_o true_a or_o suppose_a religion_n if_o the_o ground_n and_o more_o ordinary_a reason_n of_o pride_n and_o self-conceit_n in_o religion_n be_v search_v it_o will_v be_v find_v that_o they_o be_v wont_n to_o be_v ground_v in_o the_o more_o easy_a and_o common_o in_o mistake_a point_n of_o religion_n as_o of_o old_a among_o the_o pharisee_n in_o the_o punctual_a performance_n of_o wash_n and_o other_o ritual_a observation_n among_o the_o more_o ignorant_a of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n at_o this_o day_n in_o pilgrimage_n bead_n and_o other_o trifle_n among_o their_o saint_n in_o extraordinary_a austerity_n or_o unusual_a act_n of_o self-denial_n among_o enthusiast_n in_o rapture_n and_o pretend_a inspiration_n all_o these_o natural_o tend_v to_o foment_n the_o pride_n and_o self-conceit_n of_o man_n they_o draw_v the_o eye_n of_o other_o on_o they_o and_o serve_v to_o make_v unwary_a people_n but_o natural_a for_o the_o actor_n of_o they_o to_o seek_v that_o satisfaction_n from_o the_o praise_n and_o applause_n of_o other_o man_n which_o they_o reap_v not_o from_o the_o reflection_n of_o also_o high_o acceptable_a to_o god_n and_o serviceable_a to_o his_o church_n this_o be_v warrant_v by_o the_o express_a word_n of_o our_o lord_n in_o the_o text_n which_o require_v his_o disciple_n
