thousand_o on_o the_o other_o &_o see_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n appear_v in_o the_o one_o as_o well_o as_o in_o the_o other_o though_o we_o have_v escape_v that_o which_o we_o fear_v namely_o that_o we_o have_v not_o fall_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o our_o enemy_n yet_o see_v the_o lord_n have_v send_v this_o great_a scourge_n of_o the_o pestilence_n upon_o we_o which_o we_o look_v not_o for_o we_o have_v as_o great_a cause_n to_o humble_v ourselves_o with_o fast_v confess_v our_o sin_n unto_o god_n in_o prayer_n god_n in_o which_o respect_n we_o be_v bind_v to_o keep_v they_o by_o the_o commandment_n not_o only_o of_o man_n but_o of_o god_n as_o they_o so_o then_o we_o may_v perceive_v that_o see_v this_o one_o cause_n of_o public_a fast_n be_v among_o we_o namely_o the_o sensible_a and_o apparent_a token_n of_o god_n wrath_n in_o great_a measure_n that_o the_o thing_n itself_o ought_v to_o be_v practise_v of_o we_o and_o that_o we_o be_v call_v to_o it_o now_o not_o only_o by_o the_o voice_n of_o man_n but_o of_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n and_o so_o every_o one_o ought_v to_o think_v themselves_o bind_v to_o it_o so_o much_o the_o more_o furthermore_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v to_o be_v consider_v of_o we_o not_o only_a when_o it_o be_v 〈◊〉_d present_o upon_o we_o and_o may_v be_v feel_v fast_n second_o the_o sign_n of_o god_n wrath_n to_o come_v have_v be_v cause_n of_o public_a fast_n but_o when_o it_o maybe_o discern_v a_o far_o off_o and_o when_o there_o be_v just_a cause_n to_o fear_v it_o as_o that_o that_o be_v near_o we_o and_o ready_a short_o to_o come_v upon_o we_o if_o it_o be_v not_o speedy_o prevent_v whereof_o when_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n have_v see_v evident_a sign_n and_o apparent_a token_n they_o have_v in_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n seek_v by_o fast_v and_o prayer_n to_o turn_v it_o away_o and_o have_v not_o careless_o tarry_v until_o such_o time_n as_o it_o come_v upon_o they_o and_o so_o that_o have_v be_v a_o other_o sufficient_a cause_n of_o fast_v unto_o
it_o of_o we_o more_o than_o ever_o he_o do_v in_o our_o time_n for_o we_o have_v not_o know_v so_o great_a a_o plague_n why_o shall_v we_o not_o now_o by_o the_o practice_n of_o fast_v both_o for_o our_o own_o good_a and_o to_o stop_v the_o mouth_n of_o our_o enemy_n and_o that_o the_o gospel_n may_v be_v well_o speak_v of_o take_v away_o such_o occasion_n thus_o though_o fast_v be_v but_o a_o outward_a bodily_a exercise_n yet_o be_v command_v of_o god_n he_o do_v and_o will_v accept_v of_o it_o and_o tend_v to_o the_o humble_v of_o we_o it_o shall_v be_v profitable_a to_o that_o end_n and_o we_o ought_v to_o use_v it_o also_o that_o we_o may_v deliver_v the_o gospel_n from_o that_o slander_n which_o by_o the_o too_o great_a abuse_n of_o their_o liberty_n in_o eat_v and_o drink_v the_o godly_a that_o we_o abstain_v breakfast_n and_o dinner_n that_o we_o may_v fast_v from_o evening_n to_o evening_n and_o beside_o this_o general_a liberty_n or_o licentiousness_n rather_o which_o they_o give_v unto_o all_o some_o of_o the_o poor_a sort_n and_o servant_n and_o other_o also_o will_v fill_v their_o belly_n of_o purpose_n on_o thursday_n at_o night_n and_o on_o friday_n at_o dinner_n that_o with_o less_o feeling_n to_o themselves_o they_o may_v pass_v away_o their_o fast_n whereas_o it_o be_v requisite_a in_o fast_v that_o we_o shall_v feel_v the_o want_n in_o our_o body_n that_o by_o it_o we_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o feel_v the_o want_n of_o our_o soul_n what_o a_o abuse_n be_v this_o thus_o to_o pervert_v the_o right_a end_n of_o god_n ordinance_n into_o that_o yea_o more_o than_o apish_a imitation_n of_o their_o fast_n that_o when_o they_o do_v most_o of_o all_o profess_v it_o for_o the_o humble_v of_o their_o body_n and_o therefore_o do_v abridge_v themselves_o of_o many_o thing_n they_o do_v eat_v and_o drink_v very_o plentiful_o of_o all_o those_o thing_n which_o do_v most_o of_o all_o pamper_v it_o and_o that_o without_o all_o scruple_n of_o
