be_v understand_v very_o fit_o as_o hereafter_o we_o will_v show_v so_o that_o it_o be_v no_o necessity_n with_o this_o true_o to_o join_v that_o but_o which_o follow_v in_o the_o 5._o verse_n in_o which_o verse_n the_o father_n will_v have_v not_o paul_n speech_n but_o luke_n to_o be_v continue_v therefore_o the_o father_n exposition_n be_v not_o repugnant_a to_o the_o text_n nor_o yet_o with_o any_o other_o scripture_n for_o if_o any_o man_n say_v paul_n write_v to_o the_o corinthian_n that_o he_o be_v glad_a he_o baptize_v none_o but_o the_o house_n of_o stephana_n it_o may_v be_v answer_v it_o be_v true_a namely_o at_o corinth_n but_o these_o twelve_o be_v baptize_v at_o ephesus_n and_o beside_o he_o speak_v of_o such_o as_o be_v baptize_v with_o his_o own_o hand_n but_o these_o again_o this_o exposition_n therefore_o of_o the_o father_n in_o my_o judgement_n can_v easy_o be_v refell_v and_o this_o therefore_o be_v the_o chief_a cause_n why_o i_o have_v ever_o thus_o think_v what_o the_o father_n be_v mean_v by_o this_o difference_n of_o the_o baptism_n for_o they_o mean_v not_o that_o the_o one_o diffr_v from_o the_o other_o in_o the_o matter_n or_o in_o the_o sign_n or_o in_o the_o doctrine_n and_o form_n of_o baptisine_n but_o only_o in_o efficacy_n that_o namely_o although_o remission_n of_o sin_n be_v give_v to_o they_o which_o be_v wash_v with_o johns_n baptism_n yet_o the_o same_o be_v not_o of_o johns_n baptism_n that_o be_v of_o water_n but_o by_o the_o baptism_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v the_o baptism_n of_o the_o spirit_n whereunto_o that_o belong_v i_o baptize_v with_o water_n but_o he_o with_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o with_o this_o baptism_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v they_o only_o baptize_v which_o believe_v in_o christ_n who_o john_n require_v this_o faith_n &_o according_a to_o the_o same_o he_o baptize_v man_n and_o in_o baptise_v he_o always_o urge_v that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v he_o which_o shall_v baptize_v in_o the_o spirit_n but_o you_o by_o your_o own_o confession_n do_v not_o know_v this_o spirit_n etc._n etc._n and_o so_o believe_v not_o right_o in_o jesus_n christ_n therefore_o etc._n etc._n but_o sure_o to_o say_v that_o these_o twelve_o do_v lie_v unto_o the_o church_n and_o to_o the_o apostle_n it_o seem_v to_o i_o to_o be_v to_o hard_a and_o vile_a a_o thing_n in_o man_n which_o profess_v christ_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n we_o do_v ever_o better_a allow_v of_o the_o opinion_n of_o ambrose_n &_o hierome_n that_o the_o 12_o do_v say_v true_o when_o they_o say_v they_o be_v baptize_v unto_o johns_n baptism_n but_o yet_o not_o by_o
john_n himself_o but_o by_o some_o one_o of_o johns_n disciple_n who_o expound_v not_o unto_o they_o the_o true_a doctrine_n concern_v god_n and_o therefore_o baptize_v they_o not_o right_o but_o holy_a ghost_n that_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n answer_v say_v that_o they_o have_v not_o so_o much_o as_o hear_v whether_o there_o be_v that_o be_v whether_o that_o holy_a ghost_n be_v existent_a who_o paul_n will_v have_v to_o be_v the_o author_n of_o those_o gift_n so_o far_o from_o they_o it_o be_v that_o they_o shall_v have_v receive_v he_o and_o his_o gift_n and_o partly_o it_o be_v gather_v out_o of_o the_o word_n which_o paul_n use_v concern_v the_o doctrine_n and_o baptism_n of_o john_n say_v john_n very_o baptize_v with_o the_o baptism_n of_o repentance_n say_v believe_v namely_o that_o he_o be_v not_o only_a man_n and_o the_o messiah_n but_o also_o the_o son_n of_o god_n god_n from_o who_o also_o &_o from_o the_o father_n proceed_v the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o consequent_o not_o in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o god_n the_o father_n the_o son_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o the_o name_n of_o all_o which_o baptism_n be_v to_o be_v give_v and_o therefore_o that_o they_o ought_v to_o learn_v the_o true_a doctrine_n concern_v the_o father_n son_n and_o holy_a ghost_n and_o rest_v therein_o to_o receive_v lawful_a baptism_n that_o afterwards_o by_o lay_v on_o of_o hand_n they_o may_v receive_v the_o gift_n of_o this_o holy_a spirit_n which_o luke_n teach_v to_o be_v afterwards_o do_v say_v but_o when_o they_o hear_v it_o namely_o those_o twelve_o ephesian_n what_o when_o they_o hear_v even_o when_o they_o perceive_v paul_n doctrine_n concern_v true_a faith_n in_o christ_n the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o so_o in_o his_o father_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o faith_n john_n have_v also_o preach_v and_o wherein_o they_o rest_v be_v baptize_v etc._n etc._n this_o be_v the_o interpretation_n of_o the_o father_n namely_o that_o those_o twelve_o be_v not_o right_o instruct_v in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o god_n the_o father_n the_o son_n &_o holy_a ghost_n and_o so_o neither_o right_o baptize_v and_o it_o may_v be_v confirm_v both_o by_o the_o kindred_n and_o country_n of_o those_o twelve_o and_o also_o by_o the_o cause_n for_o which_o paul_n let_v alone_o all_o the_o rest_n peculiar_o ask_v they_o whether_o they_o have_v receive_v the_o holy_a ghost_n since_o they_o believe_v by_o kind_n they_o be_v jew_n as_o appear_v by_o johns_n baptism_n unto_o which_o they_o say_v they_o be_v baptize_v and_o they_o be_v baptize_v by_o a_o jewe._n but_o the_o jew_n for_o the_o most_o part_n never_o right_o hold_v the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o three_o person_n subsist_v in_o one_o essence_n and_o therefore_o these_o 12_o jew_n also_o though_o they_o grant_v jesus_n to_o be_v the_o true_a messiah_n yet_o they_o seem_v to_o acknowledge_v but_o only_o two_o person_n the_o person_n of_o god_n the_o father_n and_o the_o person_n of_o the_o messiah_n even_o as_o the_o most_o thought_n a_o bare_a man_n but_o yet_o such_o a_o one_o as_o in_o who_o god_n the_o father_n dwell_v but_o that_o they_o be_v altogether_o ignorant_a that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v a_o exi_a thing_n &_o the_o giver_n of_o those_o grace_n they_o be_v convince_v by_o their_o own_o word_n but_o sure_o there_o be_v some_o cause_n why_o paul_n come_v into_o ephesus_n where_o be_v many_o of_o christ_n disciple_n ask_v this_o question_n of_o the_o 12_o jew_n only_o sure_o it_o be_v to_o be_v think_v by_o their_o answer_n that_o the_o apostle_n either_o by_o their_o own_o talk_n or_o by_o tell_v of_o some_o other_o of_o the_o brethren_n perceive_v that_o these_o twelve_o do_v not_o think_v aright_o concern_v the_o holy_a ghost_n final_o this_o be_v the_o apostle_n argument_n whereby_o he_o will_v prove_v by_o their_o own_o answer_n that_o they_o be_v not_o baptize_v with_o the_o true_a baptism_n of_o john_n whosoever_o have_v be_v baptize_v with_o the_o true_a baptism_n of_o john_n he_o have_v also_o hear_v his_o doctrine_n concern_v god_n the_o father_n the_o son_n &_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o have_v profess_v the_o same_o and_o consequent_o have_v know_v also_o the_o holy_a ghost_n this_o proposition_n be_v not_o express_v but_o the_o proof_n of_o it_o the_o apostle_n bring_v in_o the_o 4._o verse_n say_v john_n baptize_v god_n from_o who_o as_o also_o from_o the_o father_n proceed_v the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o that_o he_o shall_v baptize_v in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o therefore_o all_o which_o desire_v to_o be_v save_v must_v also_o believe_v in_o he_o as_o the_o true_a saviour_n but_o you_o have_v not_o hear_v this_o doctrine_n nor_o profess_v it_o &_o therefore_o have_v not_o true_o believe_v in_o christ_n the_o donatifte_n &_o anabaptist_n maintain_v nothing_o less_o for_o they_o rebaptize_v such_o as_o be_v right_o baptize_v the_o apostle_n baptize_v they_o which_o have_v not_o be_v right_o baptize_v as_o have_v not_o hear_v nor_o profess_v the_o true_a doctrine_n concern_v god_n he_o take_v care_n they_o shall_v be_v right_o baptize_v and_o such_o when_o they_o come_v into_o the_o catholic_a
