minister_v occasion_n to_o weak_a and_o fearful_a conscience_n to_o distrust_n and_o despair_n yet_o great_a shall_v the_o danger_n be_v that_o man_n know_v not_o into_o what_o hazard_n they_o cast_v themselves_o when_o they_o defer_v their_o repentance_n to_o that_o time_n so_o that_o weigh_v both_o danger_n in_o a_o equal_a balance_n we_o may_v manifest_o see_v that_o this_o be_v great_a than_o that_o by_o many_o degree_n for_o experience_n teach_v we_o that_o more_o soul_n do_v perish_v through_o too_o much_o confidence_n then_o by_o too_o much_o fear_n or_o faint-hartednes_n for_o we_o be_v appoint_v watchman_n as_o ezechiell_n say_v 35_o that_o when_o we_o see_v the_o sword_n come_v we_o shall_v tell_v the_o people_n of_o it_o lest_o those_o that_o shall_v be_v admonish_v of_o we_o they_o say_v of_o it_o for_o i_o hope_v that_o no_o man_n will_v be_v so_o rash_a that_o will_v prefer_v his_o own_o opinion_n before_o their_o judgement_n in_o speak_v of_o which_o we_o will_v observe_v this_o order_n that_o first_o we_o remember_v what_o the_o father_n have_v speak_v of_o this_o matter_n and_o than_o what_o the_o scripture_n teach_v us._n ¶_o authority_n of_o certain_a father_n concern_v final_a repentance_n before_o we_o enter_v into_o this_o disputation_n let_v we_o presuppose_v that_o which_o saint_n augustine_n and_o all_o the_o doctor_n of_o the_o church_n do_v say_v that_o we_o must_v necessary_o know_v that_o as_o true_a repentance_n be_v proper_o the_o work_n of_o god_n so_o he_o can_v give_v it_o to_o who_o he_o will_v and_o when_o he_o please_v therefore_o according_a to_o this_o sentence_n repentance_n shall_v be_v true_a and_o sufficient_a to_o salvation_n at_o what_o time_n soever_o it_o be_v yea_o in_o the_o hour_n of_o death_n but_o how_o seldom_o this_o happen_v i_o will_v not_o that_o thou_o shall_v believe_v i_o or_o thyself_o but_o the_o saint_n by_o who_o mouth_n the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v speak_v therefore_o it_o be_v meet_v and_o requisite_a that_o we_o rely_v upon_o their_o judgement_n 17_o hear_v therefore_o what_o saint_n augustine_n do_v speak_v of_o this_o matter_n in_o his_o book_n of_o true_a and_o false_a repentance_n he_o that_o first_o be_v forsake_v of_o his_o sin_n before_o he_o forsake_v they_o he_o free_o and_o willing_o do_v not_o forsake_v they_o but_o of_o necessity_n and_o constraint_n but_o whole_a matter_n depend_v unrighteous_a for_o we_o must_v know_v that_o although_o the_o divine_a mercy_n extend_v to_o the_o just_a and_o unjust_a call_v these_o and_o expect_v their_o repentance_n and_o preserve_v the_o other_o nevertheless_o the_o great_a grace_n &_o the_o notable_a benefit_n which_o god_n promise_v to_o man_n in_o the_o scripture_n especial_o belong_v to_o the_o righteous_a who_o as_o they_o faithful_o observe_v the_o law_n and_o commandment_n of_o god_n so_o faithful_o god_n keep_v they_o he_o keep_v his_o promise_n with_o they_o and_o he_o be_v a_o true_a father_n unto_o they_o as_o they_o be_v his_o morigerous_a and_o obedient_a son_n on_o the_o contrary_a part_n whatsoever_o threaten_n curse_n and_o severity_n of_o divine_a justice_n the_o holy_a book_n of_o
