then_o doubtless_o christ_n will_v have_v appoint_v some_o or_o other_o officer_n to_o attend_v to_o this_o duty_n of_o compile_v psalm_n as_o he_o have_v appoint_v elder_n to_o attend_v to_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n and_o prayer_n act_n 6.4_o or_o else_o he_o will_v inspire_v some_o or_o other_o member_n of_o the_o church_n with_o such_o a_o gift_n and_o spirit_n of_o psalmistry_n as_o may_v suit_n the_o occasion_n of_o the_o church_n from_o sabbath_n to_o sabbath_n but_o neither_o of_o both_o these_o do_v we_o find_v either_o in_o the_o scripture_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n or_o in_o experience_n we_o find_v neither_o ordinance_n appoint_v it_o nor_o providence_n grant_v it_o and_o yet_o evident_a it_o be_v that_o the_o gracious_a providence_n of_o god_n be_v not_o want_v in_o supply_v well_o order_a church_n with_o all_o such_o gift_n of_o preach_v and_o prayer_n and_o rule_n and_o the_o like_a as_o god_n
have_v require_v for_o the_o edification_n of_o the_o church_n to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n neither_o be_v it_o credible_a that_o christ_n will_v take_v we_o off_o from_o sing_v the_o psalm_n of_o david_n and_o asaph_n which_o be_v of_o divine_a and_o infallible_a inspiration_n and_o leave_v we_o to_o a_o uncertain_a and_o common_a gift_n of_o private_a brethren_n if_o it_o be_v say_v common_a gift_n and_o the_o psalm_n indict_v by_o the_o same_o to_o be_v substitute_v in_o their_o room_n and_o david_n psalm_n to_o be_v silence_v that_o our_o psalm_n may_v be_v attend_v chap._n vii_o concerning_o the_o singer_n and_o first_o whether_o one_o alone_o to_o sing_v or_o the_o whole_a church_n the_o three_o question_n about_o sing_v of_o psalm_n concern_v the_o singer_n for_o though_o vocal_a sing_n be_v approve_v and_o also_o the_o sing_n of_o david_n psalm_n yet_o still_o it_o remain_v to_o some_o a_o question_n who_o must_v sing_v they_o and_o here_o a_o threefold_a scruple_n arise_v 1._o whether_o one_o be_v to_o sing_v for_o all_o the_o rest_n the_o rest_n join_v only_o in_o spirit_n and_o say_v amen_n or_o the_o whole_a congregation_n 2._o whether_o woman_n as_o well_o as_o man_n or_o man_n alone_o 3._o whether_o carnal_a man_n and_o pagan_n may_v be_v permit_v to_o sing_v with_o we_o or_o christian_n alone_o and_o church-member_n touch_v the_o first_o of_o these_o scruple_n it_o be_v out_o of_o doubt_n 1._o that_o a_o christian_a man_n for_o his_o own_o private_a solace_n and_o edification_n may_v sing_v a_o psalm_n alone_o by_o himself_o as_o asaph_n have_v his_o song_n by_o night_n psal._n 77.6.2_o it_o be_v grant_v that_o he_o who_o have_v a_o spiritual_a and_o extraordinary_a gift_n of_o endite_v a_o psalm_n may_v sing_v it_o himself_o and_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o church_n join_v with_o he_o in_o spirit_n say_v amen_n though_o in_o the_o old_a testament_n he_o that_o indict_v the_o psalm_n give_v it_o to_o the_o master_n of_o
