humble_v creature_n they_o can_v be_v true_o humble_v they_o can_v have_v no_o true_a humiliation_n because_o as_o it_o be_v evident_o prove_v in_o the_o doctrine_n before_o they_o have_v no_o true_a sight_n of_o god_n therefore_o they_o can_v be_v true_o humble_v they_o may_v keep_v fast_n and_o come_v to_o church_n and_o hear_v sermon_n and_o do_v a_o great_a many_o thing_n but_o they_o can_v be_v true_o humble_v they_o may_v have_v divers_a thing_n like_o humiliation_n but_o it_o be_v not_o true_a gospel_n sin_n yet_o he_o may_v 1_o see_v his_o sin_n save_v humiliation_n as_o for_o instance_n a_o wicked_a carnal_a man_n he_o may_v see_v his_o sin_n and_o he_o may_v be_v convince_v of_o they_o in_o a_o naturallway_o just_o for_o all_o the_o world_n as_o a_o man_n by_o the_o statute_n of_o england_n if_o he_o have_v break_v any_o of_o they_o if_o he_o read_v the_o statute_n by_o the_o strength_n of_o reason_n he_o may_v say_v i_o have_v break_v the_o statute_n and_o so_o he_o may_v by_o read_v the_o book_n of_o god_n god_n say_v that_o whormonger_n drunkard_n and_o covetous_a shall_v not_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o he_o may_v say_v but_o i_o be_o such_o a_o one_o he_o may_v do_v this_o in_o a_o natural_a way_n alas_o this_o be_v far_o enough_o from_o humiliation_n nay_o far_o the_o lord_n may_v put_v wrath_n in_o the_o terrify_v 2_o he_o may_v be_v terrify_v law_n he_o may_v put_v wrath_n in_o judgement_n and_o affliction_n and_o he_o may_v be_v terrify_v and_o woeful_o trouble_v because_o of_o sin_n and_o yet_o not_o be_v humble_v so_o the_o devil_n in_o hell_n though_o they_o have_v enough_o of_o that_o yet_o they_o be_v not_o humble_v so_o judas_n and_o cain_n and_o saul_n they_o be_v trouble_v
therefore_o he_o be_v pray_v for_o more_o but_o he_o forget_v to_o pray_v with_o thanksgiving_n to_o make_v his_o request_n know_v with_o thanksgiving_n now_o let_v a_o humble_a heart_n be_v in_o never_o so_o much_o distress_n and_o misery_n the_o man_n can_v see_v abundance_n of_o cause_n to_o praise_n god_n if_o he_o have_v but_o water_n that_o the_o beast_n drink_v and_o if_o he_o have_v but_o strength_n to_o dig_v he_o can_v say_v lord_z i_o own_o this_o as_o a_o mercy_n and_o whatsoever_o be_v on_o this_o side_n hell_n be_v mercy_n so_o in_o rom._n 12._o 1._o i_o beseech_v you_o by_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n that_o you_o give_v up_o yourselves_o a_o live_a and_o holy_a and_o acceptable_a sacrifice_n to_o god_n he_o will_v have_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n to_o bring_v they_o to_o obedience_n to_o give_v up_o themselves_o to_o obey_v god_n so_o in_o rom._n 2._o say_v he_o do_v thou_o despise_v his_o riches_n and_o goodness_n and_o forbearance_n and_o long_o suffer_v not_o know_v that_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n shall_v lead_v thou_o to_o repentance_n the_o goodness_n of_o god_n and_o the_o patience_n of_o god_n and_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n shall_v lead_v all_o humble_a heart_n to_o a_o holy_a thankfulness_n and_o obedience_n and_o so_o it_o do_v and_o the_o more_o the_o lord_n do_v multiply_v mercy_n upon_o he_o the_o more_o obedient_a and_o thankful_a he_o be_v now_o in_o all_o this_o that_o i_o have_v say_v i_o will_v desire_v you_o to_o examine_v your_o soul_n and_o if_o you_o find_v that_o in_o any_o of_o these_o or_o in_o any_o of_o the_o rest_n that_o i_o be_o yet_o to_o speak_v of_o you_o be_v faulty_a and_o come_v short_a yet_o i_o will_v not_o have_v you_o conclude_v therefore_o i_o be_o not_o the_o humble_a soul_n that_o the_o minister_n speak_v off_o there_o be_v none_o of_o this_o grace_n in_o i_o for_o though_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o thou_o in_o every_o point_n though_o thou_o come_v short_a of_o perfect_a humiliation_n that_o shall_v be_v in_o thou_o it_o follow_v not_o that_o therefore_o there_o be_v none_o at_o all_o the_o end_n why_o i_o put_v these_o thing_n before_o you_o be_v not_o so_o much_o to_o try_v yourselves_o as_o that_o you_o may_v labour_v with_o the_o lord_n to_o bring_v up_o your_o heart_n to_o these_o thing_n and_o i_o have_v the_o rather_o choose_v to_o speak_v of_o this_o at_o this_o time_n because_o i_o think_v the_o lord_n be_v prepare_v to_o come_v towards_o we_o in_o a_o way_n of_o mercy_n and_o that_o i_o will_v have_v you_o to_o think_v of_o and_o pray_v for_o that_o the_o lord_n may_v still_o come_v in_o a_o way_n of_o mercy_n that_o he_o may_v turn_v from_o the_o evil_n he_o have_v intend_v or_o else_o he_o may_v easy_o bring_v we_o again_o to_o the_o red_a sea_n if_o we_o any_o man_n love_v not_o his_o brother_n he_o have_v not_o see_v god_n i_o say_v if_o you_o have_v see_v god_n in_o christ_n as_o moses_n have_v see_v he_o and_o as_o all_o the_o saint_n see_v he_o with_o open_a face_n it_o will_v appear_v by_o this_o it_o will_v make_v your_o heart_n humble_a it_o will_v work_v a_o holy_a frame_n of_o humiliation_n no_o proud_a man_n have_v ever_o see_v god_n no_o man_n have_v ever_o see_v god_n but_o his_o heart_n be_v thorough_o humble_v but_o that_o beget_v another_o question_n how_o shall_v i_o know_v whether_o i_o have_v a_o humble_a heart_n or_o no_o i_o tell_v you_o you_o may_v know_v it_o first_o by_o the_o carriage_n of_o your_o soul_n towards_o god_n in_o point_n of_o justification_n in_o regard_n of_o his_o command_n in_o regard_n of_o his_o convert_v to_o god_n there_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o child_n be_v turn_v to_o their_o father_n now_o among_o man_n there_o be_v two_o sort_n in_o general_a they_o be_v either_o sinner_n or_o saint_n i_o shall_v leave_v to_o speak_v of_o our_o carriage_n towards_o saint_n for_o the_o last_o because_o it_o will_v require_v a_o little_a more_o time_n and_o because_o i_o shall_v speak_v but_o a_o few_o word_n of_o this_o of_o the_o carriage_n of_o a_o humble_a heart_n towards_o sinner_n and_o that_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o show_v you_o at_o this_o time_n therefore_o brief_o whosoever_o have_v this_o humble_a frame_n of_o heart_n his_o carriage_n towards_o sinner_n be_v according_a to_o the_o rule_n that_o we_o meekness_n 1._o to_o sinner_n with_o meekness_n read_v of_o titus_n 3._o 2._o to_o speak_v evil_a of_o no_o man_n to_o be_v gentle_a show_v all_o meekness_n unto_o all_o man_n his_o carriage_n i_o say_v be_v meek_a and_o affable_a and_o courteous_a and_o gentle_a towards_o all_o man_n indeed_o there_o be_v no_o heart_n in_o the_o world_n so_o proud_a you_o shall_v observe_v it_o but_o it_o have_v in_o it_o some_o meekness_n and_o especial_o to_o some_o man_n the_o proud_a tyrant_n in_o the_o world_n have_v have_v some_o favourite_n that_o they_o do_v fawn_v on_o and_o in_o some_o sort_n may_v be_v term_v meek_a man_n but_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o we_o must_v show_v all_o meekness_n and_o that_o unto_o all_o man_n to_o all_o sort_n of_o man_n to_o whoremonger_n to_o drunkard_n to_o those_o that_o deprive_v we_o of_o our_o good_n and_o of_o our_o good_a name_n which_o be_v hard_o to_o do_v but_o i_o will_v give_v you_o a_o scripture_n that_o will_v open_v it_o collos_n 1._o 9_o i_o pray_v for_o you_o say_v paul_n that_o you_o may_v be_v fill_v appear_v by_o thy_o affability_n for_o meekness_n and_o humbleness_n have_v the_o same_o name_n in_o the_o original_a moses_n be_v a_o humble_a man_n and_o moses_n be_v a_o very_a meek_a man_n where_o ever_o there_o be_v a_o humble_a heart_n it_o be_v a_o meek_a heart_n there_o will_v be_v meekness_n show_v even_o to_o sinner_n that_o you_o may_v see_v this_o i_o will_v give_v you_o but_o one_o solid_a instance_n instead_o of_o many_o you_o know_v that_o of_o all_o proud_a man_n there_o be_v none_o that_o have_v the_o name_n so_o much_o as_o the_o pharisee_n therefore_o they_o be_v call_v the_o proud_a pharisee_n and_o of_o all_o that_o have_v sinner_n christ_n meekness_n to_o sinner_n be_v humble_v there_o be_v not_o such_o a_o pattern_n of_o humility_n as_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n now_o you_o shall_v see_v how_o the_o pride_n of_o the_o pharisee_n be_v express_v and_o how_o the_o humility_n of_o our_o saviour_n be_v set_v forth_o by_o his_o carriage_n to_o sinner_n as_o he_o say_v mat._n 11._o 28._o come_v and_o learn_v of_o i_o for_o i_o be_o meek_a and_o lowly_a of_o heart_n it_o be_v because_o of_o the_o pride_n of_o our_o heart_n that_o we_o be_v not_o preach_v and_o it_o may_v be_v our_o endeavour_n to_o resist_v sin_n but_o as_o far_o as_o they_o be_v flesh_n they_o be_v weak_a enough_o but_o where_o the_o spirit_n be_v there_o be_v power_n i_o can_v do_v all_o thing_n say_v paul_n i_o can_v preach_v the_o gospel_n from_o jerusalem_n to_o illyricum_n and_o i_o shall_v come_v to_o you_o in_o the_o fullness_n of_o christ_n a_o man_n will_v of_o the_o world_n and_o do_v give_v they_o power_n against_o their_o sin_n what_o then_o will_v the_o spiritual_a effectual_a knowledge_n of_o christ_n do_v therefore_o never_o entertain_v any_o prejudice_n against_o christ_n or_o against_o his_o gospel_n or_o against_o his_o spirit_n and_o his_o way_n for_o if_o there_o be_v any_o power_n in_o this_o world_n it_o be_v there_o all_o the_o rest_n be_v but_o a_o flourish_n but_o a_o show_n of_o mortification_n when_o the_o heart_n be_v as_o full_a of_o lust_n as_o a_o toad_n be_v of_o poison_n there_o be_v no_o true_a mortification_n draw_v one_o thing_n from_o another_o the_o main_n be_v they_o walk_v not_o after_o the_o flesh_n but_o after_o the_o spirit_n ay_o but_o that_o be_v a_o general_a word_n and_o how_o shall_v we_o know_v that_o say_v he_o you_o shall_v know_v that_o also_o by_o this_o they_o that_o be_v after_o the_o flesh_n do_v mind_n fleshly_a thing_n and_o they_o that_o be_v after_o the_o spirit_n do_v mind_n spiritual_a thing_n you_o shall_v know_v whether_o you_o have_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n fulfil_v in_o you_o if_o you_o walk_v not_o after_o the_o flesh_n but_o after_o the_o spirit_n and_o you_o shall_v know_v that_o also_o by_o your_o mind_v by_o the_o frame_n of_o your_o mind_n if_o you_o walk_v after_o the_o flesh_n you_o will_v mind_v fleshly_a thing_n if_o you_o walk_v after_o the_o spirit_n you_o will_v mind_v spiritual_a thing_n and_o then_o he_o go_v on_o to_o prove_v that_o also_o as_o we_o see_v oft_o in_o scripture_n as_o in_o 1_o john_n 5._o where_n one_o thing_n be_v make_v the_o mark_n of_o another_o by_o a_o gradation_n there_o be_v five_o or_o six_o thing_n and_o one_o thing_n prove_v another_o we_o know_v that_o we_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n if_o we_o keep_v his_o commandment_n and_o we_o know_v we_o keep_v his_o commandment_n by_o another_o thing_n and_o we_o know_v that_o by_o another_o thing_n so_o that_o i_o say_v the_o scope_n of_o the_o apostle_n be_v to_o clear_v unto_o the_o saint_n their_o right_n and_o title_n to_o this_o great_a privilege_n and_o also_o withal_o to_o convince_v those_o that_o be_v carnal_a that_o they_o be_v without_o it_o and_o to_o show_v they_o their_o great_a misery_n in_o be_v so_o for_o you_o shall_v see_v after_o how_o as_o he_o discover_v they_o so_o also_o he_o show_v their_o misery_n he_o say_v they_o be_v enmity_n to_o god_n and_o they_o that_o walk_v after_o the_o flesh_n must_v die_v etc._n etc._n now_o that_o we_o may_v go_v on_o brief_o to_o handle_v this_o a_o little_a to_o
