the_o general_n association_n of_o the_o gentleman_n of_o devon_n to_o his_o highness_n the_o prince_n of_o orange_n we_o who_o name_n be_v hereunto_o subscribe_v who_o have_v now_o join_v with_o the_o prince_n of_o orange_n for_o the_o defence_n of_o the_o protestant_a religion_n and_o for_o maintain_v the_o ancient_a government_n law_n and_o liberty_n of_o england_n scotland_n and_o ireland_n do_v engage_v in_o almlghty_a god_n to_o his_o highness_n the_o prince_n of_o orange_n and_o to_o one_o another_o to_o stick_v firm_a to_o this_o cause_n and_o to_o one_o another_o in_o the_o defence_n of_o it_o and_o never_o to_o depart_v from_o it_o until_o our_o religion_n law_n and_o liberty_n be_v so_o far_o secure_v to_o we_o in_o our_o free_a parliament_n that_o we_o shall_v be_v no_o more_o in_o danger_n of_o fall_v under_o popery_n and_o slavery_n and_o as_o we_o be_v engage_v in_o this_o common_a cause_n under_o the_o protection_n of_o the_o prince_n of_o orange_n by_o which_o mean_v his_o person_n may_v be_v expose_v to_o danger_n and_o desperate_a and_o curse_a attempt_n of_o papist_n and_o other_o bloody_a man_n we_o do_v therefore_o solemn_o engage_v both_o to_o god_n and_o one_o another_o that_o if_o any_o such_o attempt_n be_v make_v upon_o he_o we_o will_v pursue_v not_o only_o those_o who_o make_v they_o but_o all_o their_o adherent_n and_o all_o that_o we_o find_v in_o arm_n against_o we_o with_o the_o utmost_a severity_n of_o a_o just_a revenge_n to_o their_o ruin_n and_o destruction_n and_o that_o execution_n of_o such_o attempt_n which_o god_n of_o his_o mercy_n forbid_v shall_v not_o prevent_v we_o from_o prosecute_a this_o cause_n which_o we_o now_o undertake_v but_o that_o it_o shall_v engage_v we_o to_o carry_v it_o on_o with_o all_o the_o vigour_n that_o so_o barbarous_a a_o practice_n shall_v deserve_v exon_n print_v in_o the_o year_n 1688._o
