to_o the_o gospel_n but_o also_o shall_v seek_v a_o more_o effectual_a course_n than_o heretofore_o in_o our_o respective_a place_n and_o calling_n for_o punish_v and_o suppress_v these_o evil_n and_o faithful_o endeavour_v that_o the_o best_a and_o fit_a remedy_n may_v be_v apply_v for_o take_v away_o the_o cause_n thereof_o and_o advance_v the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o holiness_n and_o incendiary_n by_o death_n and_o how_o people_n may_v be_v still_o in_o hazard_n of_o run_v upon_o extravagance_n in_o this_o matter_n from_o the_o misunderstanding_n of_o this_o article_n of_o the_o covenant_n we_o shall_v therefore_o guard_v against_o all_o irregularity_n in_o seek_v the_o punishment_n of_o malignant_n incendiary_n or_o evil_a instrument_n and_o endeavour_v the_o discovery_n and_o bring_v of_o they_o to_o justice_n in_o a_o right_n and_o legal_a way_n according_a to_o the_o five_o article_n we_o shall_v according_a to_o our_o place_n power_n &_o interest_n endeavour_v to_o have_v the_o union_n of_o the_o kingdom_n bring_v to_o it_o be_v covenant_v basis_n and_o avoid_v every_o thing_n that_o may_v weaken_v the_o same_o or_o involve_v we_o in_o any_o measure_n of_o accession_n unto_o the_o guilt_n of_o those_o who_o have_v invade_v or_o hereafter_o may_v invade_v the_o kingdom_n of_o england_n to_o break_v this_o covenant_v union_n and_o shall_v endeavour_v more_o correspondence_n and_o sympathy_n with_o all_o our_o covenant_v brethren_n both_o in_o england_n and_o ireland_n according_a to_o the_o six_o article_n consider_v what_o danger_n we_o and_o all_o our_o brethren_n under_o the_o bond_n and_o own_v the_o obligation_n of_o these_o covenant_n be_v in_o and_o may_v be_v expose_v to_o from_o the_o popish_a prelatical_a and_o malignant_a faction_n still_o prevail_v and_o what_o defect_n we_o be_v sensible_a have_v be_v among_o we_o in_o the_o duty_n of_o defend_v and_o assist_v one_o another_o in_o this_o cause_n we_o do_v here_o solemn_o enâ—er_o under_o a_o bond_n of_o association_n with_o all_o that_o do_v nâ—w_o renew_v these_o covenant_n with_o the_o acknowledgement_n of_o the_o public_a breach_n and_o engagement_n to_o the_o duty_n thereof_o and_o shall_v concert_v and_o assert_v the_o old_a covenant_v cause_n and_o quarrel_n as_o our_o father_n state_v and_o contend_v for_o it_o from_o the_o year_n 1638._o to_o 1650._o which_o cause_n of_o the_o covenant_v reformation_n in_o doctrine_n worship_n discipline_n and_o government_n and_o all_o interest_n and_o right_n religious_a or_o civil_a contend_v for_o during_o that_o foresay_a space_n of_o year_n conduce_v to_o promote_v the_o same_o we_o faithful_o promise_v to_o prosecute_v and_o endeavour_v to_o propagate_v preserve_v and_o maintain_v with_o the_o hazard_n of_o our_o life_n and_o all_o that_o we_o have_v not_o fear_v or_o regard_v the_o soul_n aspersion_n of_o rebellion_n combination_n or_o what_o else_o our_o adversary_n from_o their_o craft_n and_o malice_n will_v put_v upon_o we_o see_v what_o we_o do_v be_v so_o well_o warrant_v and_o arise_v from_o a_o unfeigned_a desire_n to_o maintain_v the_o true_a religion_n to_o obtain_v all_o burden_n and_o embark_v our_o interest_n with_o and_o assist_v and_o defend_v all_o these_o who_o enter_v into_o or_o join_v with_o this_o association_n and_o covenant_n and_o shall_v reckon_v whatsoever_o shall_v be_v do_v to_o the_o least_o of_o we_o for_o this_o cause_n as_o do_v to_o we_o all_o in_o general_n and_o to_o every_o one_o of_o we_o in_o particular_a and_o shall_v account_v it_o a_o breach_n of_o covenant_n if_o see_v our_o brethren_n pursue_v for_o this_o cause_n and_o have_v sufficient_a mean_n to_o comfort_n and_o assist_v they_o any_o of_o we_o shall_v either_o make_v peace_n with_o the_o persecuter_n bound_v up_o their_o hand_n by_o oath_n or_o bond_n from_o resist_v they_o refuse_v to_o hide_v
