c_o r_o honi_fw-fr soit_fw-fr qvi_fw-fr mal_fw-fr y_fw-fr pense_fw-fr a_o proclamation_n for_o a_o public_a general_n fast_o throughout_o the_o realm_n of_o scotland_n charles_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n king_n of_o scoland_n england_n france_n and_o ireland_n defender_n of_o the_o faith_n etc._n etc._n to_o all_o and_o sundry_a our_o good_a subject_n greeting_n forasmuch_o as_o we_o consider_v the_o eminent_a danger_n our_o royal_a person_n and_o government_n and_o the_o protestant_a religion_n have_v be_v of_o late_a and_o be_v still_o expose_v unto_o through_o a_o damnable_a and_o hellish_a plot_n contrive_v and_o carry_v on_o by_o the_o papist_n for_o take_v away_o our_o sacred_a life_n and_o for_o the_o subversion_n of_o the_o protestant_a religion_n and_o of_o the_o government_n of_o these_o kingdom_n which_o god_n of_o his_o infinite_a mercy_n have_v hitherto_o prevent_v and_o disappoint_v and_o we_o hope_v will_v prevent_v and_o disappoint_v for_o the_o future_a and_o be_v very_o sensible_a of_o the_o fatal_a consequence_n of_o such_o a_o horrible_a and_o sanguinary_a conspiracy_n and_o design_n we_o out_o of_o our_o religious_a disposition_n have_v ready_o approven_v of_o a_o humble_a motion_n make_v to_o we_o for_o command_v a_o general_n fast_o to_o be_v religious_o keep_v throughout_o this_o whole_a kingdom_n to_o implore_v the_o mercy_n of_o almighty_n god_n for_o the_o preservation_n of_o the_o protestant_a religion_n as_o it_o be_v by_o law_n establish_v and_o for_o the_o protection_n of_o our_o royal_a person_n and_o government_n as_o also_o to_o pray_v that_o god_n will_n more_o and_o more_o bring_v to_o light_n and_o confound_v all_o secret_a contrivance_n and_o machination_n against_o we_o and_o in_o we_o against_o all_o our_o loyal_a subject_n we_o with_o advice_n of_o our_o privy_a council_n have_v therefore_o think_v fit_a by_o this_o our_o proclamation_n to_o indict_v a_o general_n and_o public_a fast_a and_o day_n of_o humiliation_n that_o all_o our_o love_a subject_n may_v send_v up_o their_o fervent_a prayer_n and_o supplication_n to_o almighty_a god_n to_o and_o for_o the_o purpose_n aforesaid_a our_o will_n be_v herefore_o and_o we_o strict_o command_v and_o charge_n that_o the_o say_v fast_o be_v religious_o and_o solemn_o keep_v throughout_o this_o our_o whole_a kingdom_n by_o all_o subject_n and_o people_n within_o the_o same_o upon_o the_o three_o wednesday_n of_o december_n next_o be_v the_o eighteen_o day_n thereof_o to_o the_o end_n that_o so_o necessary_a and_o religious_a and_o exercise_n may_v be_v perform_v by_o all_o at_o one_o and_o the_o same_o time_n require_v hereby_o the_o reverend_a arch-bishop_n and_o bishop_n to_o give_v notice_n hereof_o to_o the_o minister_n in_o their_o respective_a dyocess_n that_o upon_o the_o lordsday_n immediate_o precede_v the_o say_v eighteen_o day_n of_o december_n they_o cause_v read_v and_o intimate_v this_o our_o proclamation_n from_o the_o pulpit_n in_o every_o parish_n church_n and_o that_o they_o exhort_v all_o our_o subject_n to_o a_o serious_a and_o devout_a performance_n of_o the_o say_a prayer_n fast_v and_o humiliation_n as_o they_o tender_v the_o favour_n of_o almighty_n god_n and_o the_o safety_n and_o preservation_n of_o the_o protestant_a religion_n and_o of_o our_o sacred_a life_n and_o government_n and_o as_o they_o will_v avoid_v the_o wrath_n and_o indignation_n of_o god_n against_o this_o kingdom_n certify_v all_o those_o who_o shall_v contemn_v or_o neglect_v such_o a_o religious_a and_o necessary_a duty_n they_o shall_v be_v proceed_v against_o and_o punish_v as_o contemner_n of_o our_o authority_n and_o person_n disaffect_v to_o the_o protestant_a religion_n as_o well_o as_o to_o our_o royal_a person_n and_o government_n give_v under_o our_o signet_n at_o edinburgh_n the_o fifteen_o day_n of_o november_n one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o and_o seventy_o eight_o and_o of_o our_o reign_n the_o thirty_o year_n per_fw-la actum_fw-la dominorum_fw-la secreti_fw-la concilii_fw-la al._n gibson_n cls._n sti._n concilii_fw-la god_n save_o the_o king_n edinburgh_n prit_v by_o the_o heir_n of_o andrew_n anderson_n printer_n to_o his_o most_o sacred_a majesty_n 1678._o
