have_v make_v a_o goodly_a purchsse_n by_o dispute_v the_o abrogation_n of_o the_o four_o commandment_n for_o one_o day_n in_o seven_o in_o as_o much_o as_o in_o stead_n of_o their_o pretend_a christian_a liberty_n not_o to_o be_v tie_v to_o such_o a_o proportion_n all_o other_o rule_v call_v for_o twice_o thrice_o as_o much_o and_o rather_o for_o six_o day_n of_o seven_o and_o leave_v but_o one_o for_o worldly_a business_n and_o if_o they_o shall_v object_v excep_v excep_v that_o man_n bodily_a life_n can_v not_o be_v preserve_v with_o so_o little_a a_o proportion_n for_o worldly_a matter_n and_o though_o as_o the_o constitution_n of_o the_o world_n now_o be_v we_o be_v far_o from_o blame_v such_o trade_n and_o manufacturer_n or_o the_o use_n of_o they_o as_o sin_n because_o special_o we_o believe_v god_n to_o have_v allow_v six_o day_n in_o a_o week_n main_o for_o worldly_a business_n according_a to_o the_o four_o commandment_n yet_o we_o say_v still_o that_o if_o this_o allowance_n be_v not_o we_o see_v not_o any_o warrant_n to_o employ_v mankind_n so_o much_o in_o these_o business_n which_o as_o we_o say_v have_v be_v spare_v of_o old_a and_o be_v spare_v in_o other_o place_n at_o this_o day_n to_o so_o notorious_a prejudice_n and_o undervalue_v of_o god_n and_o his_o honour_n and_o the_o good_a of_o soul_n and_o so_o still_o we_o be_v altogether_o at_o a_o less_o for_o a_o rule_n of_o wisdom_n how_o to_o determine_v our_o necessary_a and_o sufficient_a chief_a solemn_a time_n for_o religion_n and_o therefore_o this_o determination_n can_v not_o be_v nor_o be_v ever_o leave_v to_o man_n to_z adam_z or_o the_o partriarke_n before_o moses_n much_o loss_n to_o the_o gentile_n and_o heathen_a for_o themselves_o and_o they_o nor_o yet_o to_o the_o in_o their_o best_a mood_n when_o they_o say_v the_o church_n must_v not_o offend_v in_o excess_n or_o defect_n not_o render_v the_o yoke_n of_o christian_n too_o heavy_a by_o appoint_v too_o much_o nor_o slight_a or_o seem_v to_o slight_v the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o render_v it_o contemptible_a by_o appoint_v too_o little_a they_o seem_v to_o fancy_v that_o the_o proportion_n of_o one_o day_n of_o seven_o though_o by_o no_o mean_n necessary_a to_o be_v perpetuate_v may_v be_v a_o convenient_a direction_n that_o thereabouts_o it_o shall_v be_v among_o christian_n and_o according_o in_o the_o christian_a church_n ever_o one_o day_n in_o a_o week_n have_v be_v observe_v which_o with_o the_o addition_n of_o holy_a day_n more_o rare_o appoint_v they_o count_v a_o sufficient_a of_o this_o pretence_n absurd_a liii_o this_o be_v prove_v absurd_a we_o say_v then_o 1._o that_o for_o other_o holy_a day_n beside_o the_o weekly_a solemn_a day_n they_o come_v not_o proper_o into_o this_o dispute_n about_o the_o ordinary_a chief_a time_n for_o religion_n they_o be_v 1._o extraordinary_a day_n of_o which_o kind_n the_o jew_n also_o have_v some_o of_o god_n appoint_v and_o some_o of_o their_o own_o more_o than_o many_o christian_a church_n have_v though_o not_o so_o many_o as_o some_o other_o also_o 2._o these_o be_v take_v up_o without_o any_o such_o rule_n as_o may_v either_o urge_v the_o conscience_n to_o judge_v they_o necessary_a or_o conclude_v they_o together_o to_o be_v sufficient_a therefore_o 3._o also_o herein_o the_o christian_a church_n great_o differ_v which_o as_o we_o have_v argue_v before_o must_v not_o be_v in_o the_o proportion_n of_o the_o chief_a solemn_a time_n necessary_a and_o sufficient_a for_o all_o christian_n likewise_o 4._o no_o business_n xxx_o 2._o with_o respect_n to_o man_n worldly_a business_n but_o withal_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n the_o consideration_n of_o man_n worldly_a calling_n and_o necessary_a business_n will_v suffer_v no_o less_o if_o not_o more_o sensible_a prejudice_n by_o divide_v the_o time_n between_o more_o day_n then_o if_o it_o be_v all_o put_v into_o one_o it_o will_v hinder_v journey_n and_o day-labourer_n and_o all_o man_n of_o much_o business_n exceed_o for_o the_o public_a worship_n be_v then_o to_o be_v wait_v on_o it_o can_v not_o be_v in_o most_o place_n of_o the_o country_n particular_o and_o for_o the_o sake_n of_o weak_a body_n till_o about_o nine_o a_o clock_n in_o the_o morning_n or_o towards_o three_o in_o the_o afternoon_n if_o the_o beginning_n be_v not_o in_o the_o morning_n and_o this_o will_v marvellous_o disappoint_v travel_v and_o indeed_o every_o work_n which_o can_v noâ—_n at_o the_o clock_n strike_v as_o one_o may_v say_v be_v lay_v down_o and_o the_o â—â—r_a those_o that_o dwell_v a_o mile_n or_o two_o from_o church_n as_o much_o time_n will_v be_v spend_v in_o go_v to_o the_o public_a worship_n and_o home_n again_o if_o not_o more_o then_o in_o the_o worship_n itself_o and_o so_o it_o will_v be_v a_o most_o grievous_a interruption_n and_o hindrance_n to_o all_o their_o worldly_a business_n neither_o doubt_v we_o but_o if_o the_o consent_n of_o man_n be_v ask_v one_o by_o one_o the_o most_o part_n by_o far_o both_o of_o good_a and_o bad_a the_o willing_a and_o unwilling_a those_o that_o love_v the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o the_o business_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o those_o that_o love_v it_o not_o all_o will_v give_v their_o voice_n to_o have_v the_o whole_a time_n how_o much_o or_o how_o little_a soever_o the_o porportion_n be_v for_o hour_n upon_o one_o day_n in_o such_o a_o revolution_n rather_o than_o upon_o more_o frequent_a day_n with_o a_o short_a continuance_n that_o so_o they_o that_o love_v god_n worship_n and_o their_o soul_n good_a may_v have_v more_o full_a scope_n for_o that_o and_o they_o that_o love_v the_o world_n better_o may_v have_v the_o less_o interruption_n in_o their_o worldly_a business_n and_o more_o freedom_n to_o follow_v they_o from_o which_o discourse_n before_o we_o pass_v to_o another_o consideration_n thence_o xxxi_o a_o consequence_n from_o thence_o let_v we_o make_v bold_a to_o put_v the_o reader_n in_o mind_n of_o a_o consequence_n that_o we_o suppose_v will_v undeniable_o follow_v if_o these_o premise_n stand_v good_a namely_o that_o unless_o fourteen_o or_o sixteen_o hour_n be_v too_o large_a a_o proportion_n to_o be_v determine_v for_o god_n honour_n and_o the_o good_a of_o all_o man_n soul_n within_o the_o revolution_n of_o seven_o day_n then_o the_o dermination_n of_o one_o whole_a day_n continuance_n for_o so_o many_o hour_n in_o such_o a_o revolution_n will_v prove_v so_o substantial_o a_o profitable_a determination_n for_o all_o man_n in_o all_o age_n as_o they_o will_v find_v it_o a_o very_a hard_a task_n that_o will_v afterward_o go_v about_o to_o prove_v either_o that_o this_o determination_n be_v not_o from_o the_o beginning_n consider_v what_o be_v say_v at_o least_o towards_o it_o gen._n 2._o or_o that_o it_o be_v not_o perpetual_a since_o there_o be_v certain_o no_o express_a repeal_n of_o such_o a_o proportion_n of_o continuance_n within_o that_o revelution_n and_o whether_o now_o under_o the_o gospel_n such_o a_o proportion_n be_v too_o large_a in_o the_o whole_a as_o we_o wish_v the_o reader_n conscience_n to_o bethink_v itself_o serious_o even_o now_o that_o he_o be_v upon_o this_o discourse_n so_o we_o shall_v give_v he_o a_o further_a occasion_n to_o resolve_v in_o a_o chapter_n or_o two_o after_o mean_a time_n we_o have_v one_o consideration_n more_o yet_o to_o add_v about_o the_o kind_n of_o determination_n of_o these_o respect_n of_o time_n and_o which_o be_v the_o last_o of_o this_o sort_n 8._o profitablenesse_n accidental_a not_o only_o of_o some_o quando_fw-la season_n or_o order_n of_o beginning_n but_o of_o the_o same_o for_o all_o that_o live_v near_o one_o another_o at_o least_o so_o far_o as_o to_o secure_v the_o help_a one_o of_o another_o in_o family_n or_o public_a worship_n and_o to_o prevent_v hinder_v one_o another_o even_o in_o solitary_a worship_n or_o the_o admit_v of_o hindrance_n one_o from_o another_o only_o it_o be_v to_o be_v observe_v withal_o that_o as_o all_o accident_n be_v in_o nature_n after_o the_o substance_n to_o which_o they_o be_v accident_n though_o they_o be_v oft_o together_o for_o time_n and_o again_o all_o separable_a accident_n may_v be_v after_o in_o time_n so_o this_o accidental_a determination_n of_o the_o season_n or_o order_n of_o time_n for_o religion_n be_v in_o nature_n after_o the_o substantial_a determination_n of_o the_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n even_o though_o possible_o it_o be_v in_o time_n determine_v together_o as_o the_o seven_o day_n from_o the_o creation_n together_o with_o one_o day_n of_o seven_o gen._n 2._o suppose_v we_o say_v the_o particular_a day_n determine_v to_o adam_n the_o same_o manner_n of_o determination_n of_o any_o of_o the_o respect_n of_o time_n or_o all_o of_o they_o profitable_a 1._o no_o exclusive_a determination_n be_v profitable_a 1._o here_o be_v special_o to_o a_o determination_n of_o so_o much_o continuance_n at_o once_o and_o never_o long_o as_o well_o as_o not_o short_a and_o of_o so_o frequent_a a_o revolution_n and_o never_o often_o as_o well_o as_o no_o seldome_a and_o at_o such_o a_o season_n or_o in_o such_o a_o order_n for_o beginning_n that_o be_v on_o such_o a_o particular_a day_n or_o part_n of_o the_o day_n evening_n or_o morning_n this_o or_o that_o hour_n and_o never_o soon_o as_o well_o as_o no_o late_a never_o at_o any_o other_o hour_n or_o on_o any_o other_o day_n this_o we_o say_v can_v be_v profitable_a to_o religion_n because_o religion_n in_o both_o the_o intendment_n of_o it_o god_n honour_n and_o the_o good_a of_o man_n soul_n be_v every_o man_n chief_a and_o most_o important_a business_n of_o all_o other_o all_o the_o time_n of_o his_o life_n the_o attendance_n therefore_o upon_o this_o must_v never_o be_v forbid_v strict_o which_o be_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o a_o exclusive_a determination_n in_o any_o respect_n but_o it_o be_v ever_o lawful_a not_o now_o to_o say_v necessary_a to_o prosecute_v the_o business_n of_o religion_n both_o voluntary_o without_o determination_n of_o the_o time_n beforehand_o as_o and_o free_a liberty_n to_o attend_v it_o reject_v all_o unnecessary_a interruption_n from_o whosoever_o now_o all_o this_o be_v unquestionable_o true_a of_o god_n who_o do_v determine_v in_o this_o sort_n conclusive_o the_o continuance_n to_o be_v a_o whole_a day_n and_o the_o frequency_n joint_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v one_o in_o seven_o in_o the_o four_o commandment_n undeniable_o to_o the_o jew_n as_o the_o necessary_a and_o ordinary_o sufficient_a chief_a solemn_a time_n of_o worship_n therefore_o also_o we_o can_v think_v no_o otherwise_o but_o that_o this_o commandment_n in_o this_o regard_n be_v a_o substantially-profitable_a commandment_n for_o all_o man_n in_o all_o age_n to_o be_v bind_v unto_o and_o because_o we_o find_v not_o any_o certain_a repeal_v of_o it_o afterward_o manner_n of_o determination_n the_o next_o be_v affection_n xi_o a_o remiss_a determination_n be_v profitable_a for_o trial_n of_o affection_n 5._o a_o remiss_a determination_n namely_o of_o the_o continuance_n or_o frequency_n of_o time_n for_o religion_n may_v also_o be_v profitable_a partly_o to_o recommend_v the_o importance_n of_o religion_n to_o be_v attend_v as_o a_o chief_a business_n and_o particular_o in_o such_o and_o such_o duty_n which_o be_v name_v as_o be_v of_o chief_a importance_n to_o religion_n and_o partly_o withal_o to_o intimate_v a_o mind_n in_o the_o superior_a that_o make_v it_o to_o try_v the_o affection_n of_o inferior_n to_o the_o business_n of_o religion_n general_o or_o any_o particular_a business_n of_o religion_n which_o such_o determination_n may_v particular_o concern_v by_o intimate_v somewhat_o general_o about_o the_o proportion_n of_o time_n for_o it_o but_o refer_v the_o speciality_n of_o it_o to_o their_o mind_n as_o we_o thus_o find_v god_n make_v a_o remiss_a determination_n of_o the_o continuance_n for_o prayer_n col._n 4._o continue_v in_fw-la prayer_n which_o imply_v some_o convenient_a proportion_n of_o continuance_n to_o be_v ordinary_o allot_v to_o it_o but_o leave_v the_o specialty_n of_o it_o to_o man_n own_o affection_n which_o according_o be_v exceed_o try_v by_o such_o continuance_n voluntary_o prolong_v they_o who_o affection_n be_v strong_a to_o the_o duty_n and_o the_o business_n of_o the_o duty_n converse_v with_o god_n and_o wrestle_v with_o he_o for_o all_o manner_n of_o blessing_n do_v undoubted_o continue_v long_o and_o those_o who_o affection_n be_v weak_a do_v continue_v less_o while_n understanding_n this_o of_o the_o right_n pray_v of_o the_o heart_n and_o soul_n and_o not_o the_o yet_o not_o prescribe_v exact_o the_o number_n how_o often_o and_o the_o other_o for_o the_o lord_n supper_n intimate_v some_o frequency_n yet_o not_o determine_v special_o so_o or_o so_o often_o so_o in_o each_o leave_v the_o specialty_n to_o man_n affection_n and_o occasion_n and_o no_o man_n can_v deny_v but_o here_o also_o
universal_a or_o peremptory_a determination_n of_o this_o continuance_n distributive_o between_o the_o solitary_a worship_n the_o family_n worship_n and_o the_o public_a worship_n that_o be_v there_o be_v no_o need_n that_o all_o man_n shall_v be_v bind_v to_o such_o a_o exact_a or_o strict_a continuance_n in_o each_o of_o these_o single_a but_o so_o the_o whole_a continuance_n be_v share_v between_o all_o three_o and_o the_o public_a be_v not_o so_o short_a as_o to_o afford_v no_o remarkable_a space_n for_o a_o affect_a prayer_n and_o preach_v and_o the_o like_a and_o so_o no_o remarkable_a benefit_n to_o be_v get_v by_o it_o nor_o so_o long_o as_o to_o tire_v out_o the_o spirit_n and_o disappoint_v those_o that_o dwell_v far_o off_o of_o conveniency_n of_o return_n to_o their_o family_n and_o solitary_a devotion_n beside_o the_o regard_n of_o bodily_a necessity_n it_o can_v hardly_o be_v blame_v though_o some_o be_v long_o and_o some_o short_a in_o public_a and_o so_o in_o the_o rest_n for_o as_o much_o as_o god_n still_o have_v and_o so_o also_o every_a one_o soul_n have_v the_o full_a continuance_n determine_v and_o allot_v which_o conscionable_o observe_v in_o the_o variety_n of_o those_o duty_n may_v be_v and_o will_v be_v ordinary_o sufficient_a for_o their_o conscience_n and_o soul_n good_a and_o so_o acceptable_a to_o god_n though_o sometime_o more_o of_o the_o time_n be_v spend_v in_o public_a and_o sometime_o more_o in_o private_a and_o so_o at_o last_o we_o have_v do_v with_o the_o proof_n of_o the_o necessity_n of_o such_o a_o chief_a solemn_a time_n to_o be_v determine_v for_o the_o necessary_a and_o ordinary_o sufficient_a time_n for_o all_o man_n it_o remain_v that_o now_o in_o the_o last_o place_n we_o come_v to_o argue_v by_o who_o this_o determination_n must_v be_v or_o may_v be_v make_v but_o for_o that_o the_o next_o chapter_n be_v purposely_o reserve_v this_o have_v be_v already_o draw_v out_o to_o a_o more_o than_o chapter_n and_o here_o only_o touch_v in_o a_o few_o word_n for_o many_o will_v not_o need_v about_o it_o it_o have_v no_o such_o substantial_a profit_n as_o the_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n towards_o religion_n but_o only_o accidental_a as_o be_v needful_a to_o be_v again_o and_o again_o inculcate_v to_o our_o adversary_n who_o will_v cast_v off_o all_o that_o be_v heretofore_o determine_v by_o god_n because_o this_o be_v take_v away_o touch_v we_o say_v how_o far_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o there_o be_v any_o determination_n strict_o and_o conclusive_o of_o the_o quando_fw-la season_n or_o order_n of_o beginning_n that_o be_v for_o the_o particular_a day_n of_o that_o number_n that_o be_v determine_v for_o the_o chief_a time_n of_o worship_n and_o even_o of_o the_o begin_n of_o that_o day_n soon_o or_o late_a at_o evening_n or_o morning_n this_o or_o that_o hour_n now_o this_o i_o shall_v dispatch_v in_o four_o proposition_n 1._o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n that_o some_o particular_a day_n of_o such_o a_o number_n determine_v be_v determine_v before_o that_o number_n can_v be_v constant_o observe_v 2._o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n that_o to_o all_o that_o live_v within_o the_o reach_n one_o of_o another_o and_o so_o may_v possible_o be_v help_n one_o to_o another_o or_o hindrance_n one_o to_o another_o the_o same_o particular_a day_n of_o such_o a_o number_n be_v determine_v and_o so_o far_o at_o least_o the_o same_o season_n of_o begin_v the_o day_n that_o all_o may_v afford_v convenient_a help_n to_o each_o other_o and_o none_o prove_v hindrance_n one_o to_o the_o other_o 3._o it_o seem_v most_o consonant_a to_o the_o law_n and_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o scripture-reason_n that_o unless_o god_n determine_v it_o otherwise_o himself_o the_o beginning_n of_o the_o day_n shall_v be_v in_o the_o morning_n that_o be_v after_o midnight_n rather_o than_o in_o the_o evening_n before_o 4._o it_o seem_v great_o conducible_a to_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n from_o all_o mankind_n and_o to_o the_o general_a communion_n of_o saint_n all_o the_o world_n over_o that_o the_o same_o particular_a day_n of_o such_o a_o last_o of_o the_o ten_o for_o when_o all_o the_o other_o nine_o be_v slip_v over_o and_o none_o of_o they_o determine_v the_o last_o of_o the_o ten_o avoidable_a must_v be_v observe_v the_o first_o revolution_n and_o withal_o remain_v for_o ever_o after_o determine_v unless_o a_o new_a day_n be_v afterward_o determine_v by_o as_o sufficient_a authority_n as_o be_v in_o the_o determiner_n of_o the_o number_n and_o then_o also_o without_o a_o alteration_n of_o the_o determination_n of_o the_o number_n the_o new_a determination_n can_v only_o be_v place_v upon_o one_o particular_a day_n namely_o the_o first_o of_o the_o ten_o and_o so_o if_o it_o be_v do_v by_o sufficient_a authority_n it_o may_v be_v do_v without_o any_o violation_n or_o alteration_n of_o the_o determination_n of_o the_o number_n at_o all_o for_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o determination_n of_o the_o number_n lie_v in_o these_o thing_n 1._o that_o there_o shall_v be_v but_o one_o day_n for_o religion_n to_o nine_o for_o worldly_a business_n and_o again_o but_o nine_o for_o worldly_a business_n to_o one_o for_o religion_n and_o neither_o more_o nor_o less_o either_o way_n ordinary_o 2._o that_o those_o nine_o day_n be_v the_o number_n of_o work_a day_n shall_v come_v all_o together_o and_o the_o day_n for_o religion_n not_o come_v between_o they_o for_o then_o sometime_o there_o will_v be_v less_o than_o nine_o together_o and_o sometime_o more_o now_o this_o be_v observe_v plain_o and_o undeniable_o in_o both_o respect_n in_o the_o instance_a change_n from_o the_o ten_o day_n to_o the_o first_o day_n for_o in_o those_o two_o revolution_n of_o twice_o ten_o day_n there_o be_v but_o two_o day_n for_o religion_n the_o last_o of_o the_o first_o ten_o and_o the_o first_o of_o the_o latter_a ten_o and_o there_o be_v twice_o nine_o day_n for_o worldly_a business_n and_o in_o each_o revolution_n either_o number_n of_o nine_o worldly_a day_n be_v entire_o all_o together_o and_o the_o day_n for_o religion_n come_v not_o in_o to_o break_v the_o number_n as_o they_o will_v do_v if_o the_o second_o day_n be_v determine_v for_o then_o there_o will_v be_v one_o day_n for_o work_v only_o and_o the_o next_o for_o religion_n and_o so_o not_o nine_o work-daye_n together_o and_o again_o if_o the_o nine_o day_n be_v determine_v then_o there_o will_v have_v be_v in_o that_o revolution_n but_o eight_o day_n together_o for_o work_n and_o a_o nine_o not_o a_o ten_o objection_n objection_n according_a to_o the_o determination_n former_o settle_v for_o the_o number_n observe_v for_o religion_n if_o any_o say_v that_o this_o will_v be_v how_o ever_o but_o for_o once_o and_o that_o be_v no_o great_a matter_n special_o if_o religion_n lose_v nothing_o by_o it_o as_o by_o bring_v the_o day_n soon_o to_o have_v profane_v it_o as_o ezekiel_n have_v tell_v we_o therefore_o also_o they_o be_v not_o reprove_v for_o not_o observe_v any_o time_n at_o all_o yet_o doubtless_o many_o of_o they_o be_v so_o atheistical_a and_o irreligious_a as_o they_o observe_v not_o the_o time_n of_o their_o own_o superstition_n yet_o to_o observe_v some_o time_n our_o adversary_n and_o all_o man_n confess_v be_v absolute_o moral_n natural_a and_o bind_v all_o the_o gentile_n in_o all_o age_n but_o because_o they_o observe_v not_o those_o they_o do_v observe_v unto_o the_o honour_n of_o the_o true_a god_n but_o of_o idol_n therefore_o we_o say_v they_o be_v never_o reprove_v for_o any_o neglect_n or_o inobservation_n of_o time_n at_o all_o but_o on_o the_o otherside_n when_o god_n mention_n by_o his_o prophet_n esay_n chap._n 56._o the_o son_n of_o the_o stranger_n join_v himself_o to_o the_o lord_n he_o again_o and_o again_o call_v such_o to_o the_o observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n with_o most_o ample_a promise_n as_o a_o most_o essential_a part_n of_o religion_n and_o most_o necessary_a to_o every_o servant_n of_o god_n a_o law_n then_o from_o god_n himself_o be_v most_o necessary_a for_o his_o honour_n and_o for_o religion_n concern_v the_o chief_a time_n for_o his_o worship_n though_o to_o those_o nation_n that_o have_v cast_v off_o his_o true_a worship_n he_o have_v not_o particular_o revive_v it_o not_o have_v give_v they_o his_o write_a word_n sol._n 2_o 2._o to_o the_o other_o objection_n concern_v the_o good_a of_o man_n soul_n 1._o we_o say_v not_o that_o the_o observation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n or_o any_o sufficient_a time_n in_o duty_n of_o religion_n will_v save_v man_n soul_n or_o benefit_v man_n soul_n without_o the_o revelation_n and_o faith_n of_o man_n as_o a_o moral_a mean_n towards_o the_o attainment_n of_o salvation_n and_o the_o good_a eternal_a of_o man_n soul_n as_o well_o as_o towards_o the_o right_n honour_v of_o god_n and_o therefore_o god_n have_v not_o put_v over_o the_o make_n of_o such_o a_o law_n unto_o man_n whether_o christ_n be_v reveal_v to_o they_o or_o not_o reveal_v to_o they_o neither_o to_o every_o man_n for_o himself_o single_a or_o to_o any_o special_a man_n or_o number_n of_o man_n for_o all_o the_o rest_n rest_n xiii_o nor_o 2._o be_v this_o authority_n give_v to_o some_o special_a man_n for_o the_o first_o and_o the_o last_o for_o in_o the_o middlemost_a it_o be_v beyond_o all_o peradventure_o that_o god_n determine_v the_o time_n to_o the_o jew_n and_o leave_v it_o not_o to_o they_o but_o yet_o even_o during_o that_o time_n because_o there_o may_v be_v and_o doubtless_o be_v in_o some_o part_n or_o other_o of_o the_o world_n still_o some_o few_o servant_n of_o god_n among_o the_o gentile_n it_o will_v be_v just_o questionable_a by_o who_o authority_n the_o determination_n of_o the_o necessary_a and_o sufficient_a time_n be_v make_v even_o for_o they_o where_o ever_o they_o be_v and_o what_o proportion_n soever_o be_v determine_v though_o never_o so_o small_a a_o continuance_n and_o seldom_o revolution_n these_o thing_n thus_o premise_v we_o thus_o propound_v our_o aurgument_n against_o any_o special_a man_n have_v this_o authority_n for_o all_o the_o rest_n church_n fourteen_o if_o so_o then_o either_o to_o pagan_n or_o to_o the_o church_n if_o god_n have_v give_v it_o now_o or_o heretofore_o to_o some_o special_a man_n for_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o mankind_n then_o either_o to_o some_o special_a man_n among_o the_o pagan_n for_o all_o within_o their_o country_n and_o to_o the_o church_n for_o all_o their_o know_a member_n or_o to_o the_o church_n general_o for_o all_o mankind_n both_o the_o member_n of_o it_o and_o all_o other_o but_o neither_o have_v god_n give_v this_o authority_n to_o some_o special_a man_n among_o the_o pagan_n for_o all_o within_o their_o country_n and_o to_o the_o church_n for_o all_o their_o know_a member_n nor_o yet_o to_o the_o church_n general_o for_o all_o mankind_n both_o its_o member_n and_o all_o other_o ergo_fw-la he_o have_v not_o give_v it_o to_o some_o special_a man_n for_o all_o the_o rest_n of_o to_o man_n not_o to_o say_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o perpetual_a for_o nothing_o can_v be_v take_v from_o that_o which_o be_v necessary_a nor_o add_v by_o man_n authority_n to_o that_o which_o be_v all_o god_n former_a determination_n of_o time_n even_o that_o of_o one_o day_n in_o seven_o for_o a_o weekly_a sabbath_n in_o the_o four_o commandment_n and_o to_o prove_v that_o the_o church_n be_v time_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v a_o time_n of_o spiritual_a freedom_n above_o the_o time_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n the_o antecedent_n may_v be_v verify_v several_a way_n 1._o by_o the_o confession_n of_o the_o adversary_n who_o say_v sometime_o and_o offer_v at_o some_o reason_n for_o it_o that_o the_o christian_a church_n may_v appoint_v and_o determine_v more_o and_o often_o day_n than_o the_o jew_n have_v determine_v to_o they_o by_o god_n himself_o and_o if_o it_o be_v absolute_o leave_v to_o the_o church_n to_o determine_v they_o may_v determine_v as_o many_o as_o they_o that_o be_v true_a which_o we_o have_v argue_v before_o that_o this_o time_n be_v once_o determine_v by_o whosoever_o be_v unalterable_a by_o man_n and_o even_o if_o the_o church_n universal_a have_v how_o will_v this_o then_o be_v if_o they_o or_o such_o as_o they_o have_v the_o authority_n in_o their_o own_o hand_n much_o if_o not_o altogether_o be_v the_o minister_n and_o so_o at_o least_o the_o chief_a in_o authority_n in_o the_o particular_a congregation_n shall_v we_o not_o be_v likely_a in_o a_o great_a city_n as_o london_n but_o special_o in_o a_o nation_n or_o kingdom_n to_o have_v all_o the_o day_n of_o the_o week_n determine_v by_o one_o or_o other_o particular_a church_n namely_o one_o by_o one_o and_o another_o by_o another_o and_o so_o other_o by_o other_o again_o in_o such_o diversity_n of_o temper_n difference_n of_o zeal_n or_o worldliness_n want_v a_o steady_a rule_n as_o we_o shall_v see_v and_o
so_o a_o ground_n of_o wisdom_n will_v there_o not_o be_v great_a danger_n of_o variety_n about_o the_o frequency_n and_o continuance_n 2._o in_o all_o church_n that_o be_v near_o one_o another_o diversity_n of_o day_n will_v breed_v great_a disturbance_n of_o one_o another_o and_o the_o member_n of_o each_o from_o other_o and_o hindrance_n also_o to_o traffic_v and_o journey_n and_o all_o business_n and_o in_o a_o word_n introduce_v nothing_o but_o disorder_n and_o confusion_n which_o yet_o will_v be_v more_o increase_v by_o a_o diversity_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o frequency_n and_o continuance_n whereby_o those_o that_o observe_v and_o be_v tie_v to_o more_o and_o often_o will_v be_v reproach_v by_o other_o as_o over-precise_a and_o will_v be_v apt_a to_o grumble_v at_o their_o own_o bondage_n and_o they_o that_o observe_v and_o be_v tie_v to_o less_o and_o seldome_a will_v be_v censure_v as_o profane_v and_o careless_a of_o religion_n and_o perhaps_o will_v be_v in_o doubt_n of_o the_o sufficiency_n of_o their_o church_n determination_n and_o so_o be_v apt_a to_o make_v a_o schism_n in_o it_o or_o from_o it_o 3._o if_o it_o be_v resolve_v once_o that_o this_o authority_n do_v certain_o belong_v to_o every_o particular_a church_n it_o will_v hardly_o be_v agree_v among_o they_o unto_o who_o it_o do_v belong_v whether_o to_o the_o minister_n or_o minister_n alone_o as_o some_o will_v think_v or_o to_o they_o and_o the_o rule_v elder_n together_o as_o other_o will_v say_v or_o to_o the_o whole_a people_n with_o they_o that_o be_v all_o the_o man_n grow_v as_o other_o will_v maintain_v or_o even_o take_v in_o woman_n also_o as_o the_o anabaptist_n do_v in_o matter_n of_o church-government_n and_o in_o this_o the_o difficulty_n will_v be_v the_o great_a minister_n and_o elder_n take_v they_o together_o in_o particular_a church_n and_o the_o weakness_n and_o corruption_n that_o even_o they_o be_v not_o free_a from_o and_o special_o the_o people_n be_v where_o they_o preach_v these_o thing_n or_o at_o least_o with_o they_o this_o great_a matter_n which_o must_v of_o necessity_n be_v observe_v and_o so_o determine_v for_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n and_o the_o good_a of_o every_o christian_a soul_n namely_o a_o new_a proportion_n of_o continuance_n and_o frequency_n for_o the_o chief_a time_n to_o religion_n and_o a_o new_a day_n for_o it_o yet_o we_o show_v in_o a_o former_a argument_n both_o by_o evident_a reason_n and_o our_o adversary_n assertion_n that_o the_o apostle_n do_v not_o meddle_v to_o make_v any_o of_o those_o it_o even_o the_o church_n whether_o in_o time_n of_o the_o old_a patriarch_n before_o moses_n or_o the_o christian_a church_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n and_o that_o be_v in_o point_n of_o wisdom_n as_o have_v no_o rule_n whereby_o possible_o to_o guide_v themselves_o steady_o in_o the_o make_n of_o this_o determination_n of_o the_o chief_a time_n necessary_a and_o sufficient_a for_o whatsoever_o we_o take_v into_o consideration_n that_o may_v seem_v to_o make_v towards_o a_o rule_n will_n and_o do_v render_v it_o more_o perplex_v either_o call_n for_o so_o much_o as_o man_n consideration_n once_o more_o equallize_v place_n and_o time_n this_o be_v like_a to_o the_o necessity_n of_o light_a time_n whether_o natural_a of_o the_o day_n light_n or_o artificial_a of_o candle_n lamp_n torch_n etc._n etc._n that_o all_o may_v both_o read_v that_o can_v read_v and_o beside_o may_v know_v to_o behave_v themselves_o orderly_o in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o may_v partake_v of_o the_o sacrament_n in_o a_o fit_a and_o decent_a manner_n but_o again_o this_o consideration_n be_v rather_o negative_a or_o privative_a then_o positive_a and_o though_o draw_v near_o to_o religion_n then_o either_o of_o the_o two_o former_a yet_o be_v not_o proper_o a_o necessity_n theologicall_n or_o moral_a but_o animal_n and_o sensitive_a the_o sense_n not_o serve_v but_o within_o such_o a_o distance_n and_o with_o such_o help_n whereas_o religion_n be_v chief_o exercise_v in_o the_o mind_n and_o may_v be_v solitary_o without_o any_o present_a use_n of_o the_o sense_n and_o when_o public_o the_o sense_n be_v accommodate_v with_o fit_a place_n and_o time_n the_o mind_n perhaps_o be_v whole_o irreligious_a so_o that_o here_o be_v a_o very_a small_a matter_n towards_o religion_n affirmative_o and_o certain_o by_o all_o this_o necessary_a place_n have_v and_o observe_v and_o yet_o this_o be_v all_o the_o necessity_n to_o religion_n that_o we_o can_v conceive_v that_o place_n in_o itself_o consider_v and_o antecedent_n to_o all_o command_n of_o god_n of_o which_o by_o and_o by_o be_v capable_a of_o in_o any_o respect_n relate_v to_o god_n worship_n and_o the_o good_a of_o man_n soul_n as_o we_o shall_v see_v more_o anon_o regard_n xx._n the_o profit_n of_o place_n be_v accidental_a in_o regard_n suitable_a hereunto_o somewhat_o also_o may_v be_v say_v
