they_o neither_o do_v nor_o can_v err_v in_o fundamental_o it_o follow_v nor_o in_o declare_v what_o be_v fundamental_a what_o be_v not_o and_o consequent_o to_o make_v any_o church_n we_o may_v say_v or_o representative_a of_o the_o church_n i._n e._n a_o general_n council_n a_o infallible_a guide_n in_o fundamental_o will_v be_v to_o make_v her_o infallible_a in_o all_o thing_n which_o she_o propose_v and_o require_v to_o be_v believe_v i._n e._n in_o as_o many_o thing_n as_o she_o say_v be_v fundamental_a and_o she_o may_v say_v all_o be_v fundamental_o or_o necessary_a if_o she_o will._n thus_o he_o so_o 3_o c._n c._n 59_o 60._o to_o that_o objection_n since_o we_o be_v undoubted_o oblige_v to_o believe_v she_o in_o fundamental_o and_o can_v precise_o know_v what_o be_v those_o fundamental_o we_o can_v without_o hazard_v of_o our_o soul_n leave_v she_o in_o any_o point_n he_o answer_v by_o grant_v the_o consequence_n and_o deny_v the_o supposition_n i_o mean_v the_o former_a part_n thereof_o that_o we_o be_v oblige_v to_o believe_v she_o in_o fundamental_o in_o deliver_v of_o which_o he_o say_v she_o may_v err_v as_o for_o that_o objection_n ordinary_o make_v against_o the_o church_n define_n what_o point_v they_o be_v that_o be_v necessary_a and_o wherein_o by_o consequence_n she_o be_v infallible_a viz._n that_o then_o ecclesia_fw-la non_fw-la errabit_fw-la quando_fw-la vult_fw-la because_o she_o may_v as_o she_o please_v nominate_v the_o point_n fundamental_a etc._n etc._n we_o answer_v that_o it_o be_v suppose_v necessary_a that_o the_o council_n or_o the_o people_n must_v know_v not_o only_o the_o fundamental_a point_n but_o a_o exact_a distinction_n of_o such_o from_o the_o rest_n of_o which_o present_o the_o same_o divine_a hand_n that_o will_v not_o suffer_v the_o council_n appoint_v for_o the_o people_n guide_n to_o err_v in_o any_o fundamental_a neither_o will_v permit_v they_o to_o say_v or_o to_o define_v any_o point_n to_o be_v fundamental_a that_o be_v not_o because_o this_o latter_a thing_n be_v suppose_v as_o necessary_a as_o the_o former_a i._n e._n god_n will_v never_o permit_v they_o to_o say_v they_o do_v not_o or_o can_v err_v in_o any_o point_n wherein_o they_o may_v err_v 4._o but_o four_a after_o all_o this_o it_o seem_v to_o i_o not_o to_o follow_v necessary_o proposal_n that_o if_o our_o saviour_n by_o his_o spirit_n preserve_v the_o church_n a_o infallible_a guide_n in_o necessary_a point_n of_o faith_n 1._o therefore_o she_o must_v be_v infallible_a in_o distinguish_v they_o from_o all_o other_o point_n which_o perhaps_o be_v not_o the_o same_o if_o we_o speak_v of_o those_o whereof_o man_n be_v to_o have_v a_o explicit_a knowledge_n to_o all_o person_n and_o from_o whence_o universal_a tradition_n and_o also_o for_o the_o immediate_a manifest_a and_o natural_a consequential_o thereof_o nay_o who_o deny_v that_o private_a man_n also_o from_o the_o abundant_a clearness_n of_o scripture_n only_o may_v attain_v sufficient_a certainty_n of_o many_o doctrine_n of_o christianity_n but_o i_o say_v certain_o know_v that_o she_o be_v inerrable_a for_o every_o point_n in_o which_o she_o be_v so_o for_o as_o to_o one_o ground_n of_o her_o infallibility_n the_o assistance_n of_o the_o spirit_n lead_v she_o into_o all_o truth_n necessary_a since_o man_n may_v be_v and_o all_o regenerate_a man_n be_v guide_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o without_o extraordinary_a revelation_n can_v certain_o discern_v and_o distinguish_v the_o particular_n wherein_o they_o be_v guide_v by_o it_o nor_o sensible_o perceive_v the_o motion_n thereof_o why_o may_v not_o the_o church_n also_o be_v ignorant_a in_o what_o particular_a point_n she_o be_v so_o far_o assist_v by_o god_n spirit_n as_o never_o to_o give_v a_o erroneous_a judgement_n in_o they_o and_o as_o to_o the_o other_o ground_n evidence_n of_o tradition_n though_o i_o grant_v sufficient_a assurance_n or_o infallibility_n in_o it_o if_o plenary_a yet_o 1._o tradition_n of_o some_o point_n be_v great_a and_o of_o some_o other_o lesser_a and_o more_o obscure_a this_o tradition_n seem_v not_o always_o in_o all_o point_n to_o be_v such_o as_o to_o amount_v to_o that_o certainty_n some_o of_o late_o pretend_v 2_o by_o this_o the_o church_n can_v only_o know_v her_o infallibility_n in_o point_n traditionary_a but_o then_o some_o determination_n of_o council_n and_o that_o under_o a_o anathema_n will_v be_v find_v to_o be_v not_o of_o doctrine_n clear_o traditional_a and_o such_o as_o have_v be_v the_o common_a tenant_n of_o the_o former_a church_n but_o of_o new_a emergent_a
they_o shall_v not_o be_v toss_v to_o and_o fro_o with_o every_o wind_n of_o doctrine_n by_o the_o state_n of_o man_n till_o they_o may_v all_o come_v in_o the_o unity_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n to_o the_o fullness_n of_o christ_n jesus_n eph._n 4._o 11._o heb._n 13._o 7_o 9_o neither_o may_v we_o say_v that_o so_o also_o we_o quit_v only_o our_o own_o reason_n to_o accept_v another_o since_o there_o be_v less_o danger_n in_o our_o err_a in_o they_o and_o the_o more_o guilt_n still_o the_o small_a they_o be_v in_o our_o make_v a_o schism_n from_o or_o division_n in_o the_o church_n for_o they_o more_o humility_n exercise_v in_o obey_v no_o truth_n of_o consequence_n vindicate_v by_o contention_n wisdom_n perhaps_o will_v think_v it_o fit_a to_o subscribe_v to_o the_o same_o guide_n for_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v in_o another_o case_n if_o they_o be_v sit_v to_o judge_v the_o great_a be_v they_o not_o so_o to_o judge_v the_o small_a matter_n 1_o cor._n 6._o 2._o and_o if_o any_o thing_n herein_o may_v be_v indulge_v to_o singularity_n of_o opinion_n it_o be_v only_o so_o far_o as_o to_o make_v know_v the_o reason_n that_o move_v we_o to_o it_o to_o the_o church_n or_o some_o few_o therein_o who_o we_o count_v man_n of_o learning_n and_o integrity_n and_o void_a of_o passion_n and_o after_o this_o to_o submit_v to_o whatever_o they_o who_o now_o together_o with_o we_o apprehend_v all_o the_o reason_n which_o sway_v we_o shall_v determine_v the_o contrary_a to_o which_o can_v be_v only_o the_o fruit_n of_o self-conceit_n or_o obstinacy_n this_o if_o they_o unanimous_o deliver_v any_o thing_n to_o we_o which_o we_o think_v against_o scripture_n and_o much_o more_o yet_o ought_v we_o to_o submit_v to_o any_o order_n of_o they_o though_o we_o do_v not_o find_v it_o in_o scripture_n if_o we_o find_v nothing_o in_o scripture_n against_o it_o without_o call_v such_o their_o sanction_n will-worship_n and_o superstition_n make_v sure_a to_o use_v nothing_o but_o our_o judgement_n and_o that_o we_o call_v judgement_n many_o time_n nothing_o but_o our_o own_o and_o that_o a_o slight_a opinion_n in_o not_o follow_v of_o which_o opinion_n or_o judgement_n we_o be_v faulty_a only_o then_o where_o we_o have_v no_o wise_a person_n caeteris_fw-la paribus_fw-la nor_o no_o establish_a law_n to_o guide_v and_o direct_v it_o nor_o be_v it_o go_v against_o our_o reason_n when_o as_o nothing_o be_v more_o reasonable_a than_o to_o go_v against_o some_o of_o our_o own_o particular_a reason_n when_o we_o have_v another_o strong_a reason_n to_o the_o contrary_a that_o be_v the_o submit_v of_o it_o to_o such_o a_o authority_n nothing_o be_v more_o ordinary_a than_o for_o argument_n from_o a_o reason_n to_o give_v place_n to_o those_o from_o a_o authority_n upon_o which_o authority_n also_o and_o not_o upon_o reason_n be_v ground_v our_o faith._n see_v submiss_a of_o judgement_n judgement_n 2._o etc._n etc._n but_o let_v i_o add_v this_o for_o our_o further_a contentment_n that_o he_o who_o not_o only_o demand_n of_o the_o church_n but_o take_v pain_n also_o as_o all_o aught_o to_o be_v inform_v by_o the_o church_n concern_v the_o proof_n and_o evidence_n of_o what_o she_o require_v he_o to_o believe_v shall_v seldom_o or_o never_o be_v put_v to_o believe_v that_o what_o she_o say_v be_v truth_n only_o from_o her_o authority_n because_o she_o say_v it_o but_o also_o from_o his_o own_o judgement_n because_o she_o manifest_v it_o obj._n but_o do_v not_o a_o err_a conscience_n then_o bind_v we_o to_o follow_v it_o though_o
