our_o head_n this_o be_v the_o part_n of_o a_o feeble_a enemy_n which_o keep_v himself_o enclose_v and_o only_o make_v some_o small_a sally_n at_o certain_a time_n the_o first_o difficulty_n which_o the_o bishop_n of_o condom_n here_o create_v we_o be_v no_o difficulty_n the_o synod_n in_o 1644._o do_v censure_v the_o independent_n because_o they_o will_v not_o acknowledge_v the_o authority_n of_o assembly_n and_o synod_n and_o it_o give_v the_o same_o reason_n which_o be_v cite_v by_o the_o bishop_n of_o condom_n that_o this_o proceed_n be_v so_o prejudicial_a to_o the_o state_n as_o love_v order_n and_o that_o we_o acknowledge_v the_o authority_n of_o assembly_n and_o synod_n as_o a_o mean_n conform_v to_o the_o practice_n establish_v by_o our_o saviour_n and_o by_o the_o apostle_n and_o very_o proper_a to_o preserve_v the_o purity_n of_o faith_n and_o to_o maintain_v unity_n but_o this_o imply_v not_o any_o wise_a that_o we_o have_v attribute_v a_o kind_n of_o infallibility_n or_o a_o sovereign_a and_o absolute_a authority_n unto_o our_o synod_n such_o as_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n attribute_n unto_o pope_n and_o unto_o council_n which_o be_v the_o only_a thing_n in_o question_n it_o be_v as_o if_o one_o shall_v say_v that_o in_o acknowledge_v the_o just_a authority_n of_o magistrate_n for_o maintain_v of_o law_n and_o the_o service_n of_o the_o prince_n we_o do_v allow_v that_o the_o magistrate_n be_v above_o the_o law_n or_o have_v right_a to_o give_v what_o order_n they_o please_v how_o contrary_a soever_o those_o order_n may_v appear_v to_o be_v against_o the_o service_n of_o the_o common_a master_n so_o that_o at_o no_o time_n and_o in_o no_o case_n the_o people_n may_v forbear_v the_o observance_n of_o these_o order_n to_o continue_v faithful_a unto_o their_o sovereign_n the_o independent_n fault_n be_v not_o in_o that_o they_o admit_v of_o nothing_o but_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o be_v a_o rule_n of_o faith_n they_o the_o synod_n will_v establish_v a_o dependence_n inasmuch_o as_o the_o great_a inconveniency_n that_o it_o observe_v whereinto_o the_o faithful_a may_v fall_v by_o independency_n be_v this_o very_a point_n that_o schism_n may_v be_v form_v or_o as_o many_o religion_n arise_v as_o there_o be_v parish_n but_o if_o this_o consequence_n be_v good_a it_o may_v also_o be_v say_v that_o faith_n and_o religion_n do_v depend_v on_o the_o civil_a magistrate_n because_o if_o the_o people_n be_v not_o restrain_v by_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o magistrate_n they_o will_v live_v each_o according_a to_o their_o own_o fancy_n even_o in_o matter_n of_o religion_n itself_o faith_n and_o discipline_n mutual_o hold_v hand_n faith_n work_v a_o love_n of_o order_n and_o discipline_n order_n and_o discipline_n serve_v to_o keep_v up_o the_o purity_n of_o faith_n but_o they_o be_v nevertheless_o thing_n very_o different_a and_o it_o can_v be_v say_v for_o all_o this_o that_o faith_n depend_v upon_o order_n or_o upon_o the_o orderer_n whether_o they_o be_v civil_a or_o ecclesiastical_a to_o conclude_v we_o do_v not_o at_o all_o deny_v but_o that_o even_o in_o matter_n of_o faith_n we_o
