twenty_o in_o number_n which_o be_v call_v the_o king_n sergeant_n at_o arm_n and_o these_o be_v create_v with_o great_a ceremony_n for_o the_o person_n who_o be_v to_o be_v create_v kneel_v before_o carry_v the_o mace_n before_o the_o speaker_n whether_o he_o be_v the_o lord_n chancellor_n or_o not_o within_o the_o lord_n house_n up_o to_o the_o very_a chair_n of_o state_n and_o after_o he_o have_v make_v his_o obeisance_n he_o lay_v it_o down_o on_o the_o first_o woolsack_n by_o the_o speaker_n and_o so_o depart_v till_o the_o speaker_n have_v occasion_n to_o use_v he_o again_o upon_o the_o rise_n of_o the_o house_n and_o herein_o methinks_v the_o sergeant_n at_o arm_n of_o the_o house_n of_o commons_o have_v more_o respect_n afford_v he_o than_o the_o sergeant_n at_o arm_n to_o the_o house_n of_o lord_n for_o the_o commons_o sergeant_n have_v the_o freedom_n to_o stand_v at_o the_o bar_n and_o hear_v all_o debate_n and_o when_o weary_a of_o stand_v have_v a_o easy_a seat_n by_o the_o door_n but_o the_o lord_n sergeant_n be_v not_o permit_v to_o be_v in_o the_o lord_n house_n whilst_o it_o be_v sit_v nor_o have_v any_o station_n within_o the_o bar_n nor_o seat_n without_o the_o bar_n as_o the_o gentleman_n usher_n have_v and_o yet_o this_o office_n be_v more_o ancient_a than_o that_o and_o be_v not_o only_a sergeant_n at_o arm_n to_o the_o speaker_n and_o these_o i_o have_v make_v some_o discourse_n as_o well_o to_o revive_v the_o notion_n of_o those_o who_o need_v no_o other_o information_n as_o to_o inform_v other_o who_o have_v little_a knowledge_n therein_o but_o what_o they_o gain_v from_o the_o short_a memorial_n of_o writer_n or_o from_o the_o imperfect_a discourse_n which_o they_o glean_v from_o such_o as_o know_v some_o thing_n in_o part_n but_o have_v not_o the_o true_a concatenation_n of_o the_o grandeur_n of_o a_o parliament_n these_o discourse_n and_o those_o intend_v will_v i_o hope_v contain_v the_o whole_a system_n of_o this_o constitution_n this_o part_n have_v apply_v itself_o whole_o to_o the_o office_n degree_n and_o quality_n pertinent_a to_o the_o house_n of_o lord_n in_o general_a but_o as_o to_o the_o particular_a person_n own_v those_o office_n degree_n and_o quality_n i_o reserve_v they_o for_o the_o subsequent_a part_n of_o this_o treatise_n that_o be_v after_o i_o have_v discourse_v of_o the_o seven_o remain_a exemplar_n writ_n in_o the_o pawn_n which_o particular_o concern_v the_o house_n of_o commons_o viz._n to_o cornwall_n to_o cambridge_n to_o london_n to_o dover_n to_o lancaster_n to_o chester_n to_o carnarvan_n in_o wales_n and_o also_o show_v the_o writ_n or_o precept_n derivative_a of_o those_o seven_o exemplar_n and_o the_o manner_n of_o election_n and_o return_v of_o writ_n
