his_o behalf_n and_o have_v discourse_n several_a time_n with_o the_o lady_n stawell_n concern_v those_o endeavour_n which_o have_v be_v use_v to_o persuade_v he_o to_o compound_v and_o this_o informant_a say_n to_o she_o can_v there_o be_v no_o way_n find_v out_o whereby_o he_o may_v be_v preserve_v and_o have_v the_o benefit_n of_o his_o article_n she_o answer_v this_o informant_a in_o these_o word_n sir_n you_o know_v what_o endeavour_n have_v be_v use_v and_o how_o we_o will_v have_v persuade_v he_o to_o have_v suffer_v his_o son_n ned_n stawell_n mean_v he_o call_v sir_n edward_n little_a convention_n or_o parliament_n for_o the_o confirmation_n of_o the_o sale_n of_o sir_n john_n stawel_n land_n the_o say_a gentleman_n speak_v these_o word_n i_o wonder_v say_v he_o that_o sir_n john_n stawell_n shall_v now_o pretend_v to_o the_o article_n of_o exeter_n since_o to_o my_o knowledge_n he_o do_v refuse_v to_o have_v the_o benefit_n of_o they_o for_o say_v he_o when_o i_o be_v a_o prisoner_n in_o ely_n house_n with_o the_o say_a sir_n john_n stawell_n some_o intimation_n we_o have_v from_o the_o then_o king_n that_o we_o shall_v submit_v to_o the_o parliament_n and_o with_o traitor_n and_o although_o by_o the_o three_o article_n of_o exon_n certain_a enumerated_a act_n be_v make_v a_o breach_n of_o those_o article_n yet_o questionless_a other_o matter_n not_o enumerate_v may_v be_v a_o breach_n whereof_o these_o of_o sir_n john_n be_v some_o and_o it_o seem_v have_v be_v so_o adjudge_v by_o the_o parliament_n for_o in_o the_o debate_n of_o all_o act_n reward_n for_o his_o many_o suffering_n in_o own_v and_o justify_v the_o late_a king_n cause_n beyond_o any_o of_o his_o party_n be_v the_o only_a subject_n of_o he_o that_o refuse_v to_o comply_v with_o the_o parliament_n when_o he_o may_v and_o be_v earnest_o invite_v thereunto_o which_o aim_n of_o he_o be_v apparent_a for_o mr._n john_n ash_n do_v tell_v we_o that_o he_o send_v unto_o the_o imprisonment_n of_o his_o person_n remain_v indiscuss_v in_o that_o very_a house_n especial_o after_o the_o parliament_n have_v thursday_n febr._n 24._o 1652._o resolve_v that_o the_o cause_n of_o sir_n john_n stawel_n upon_o his_o pretence_n of_o title_n to_o article_n be_v resume_v to_o the_o consideration_n and_o determination_n of_o the_o parliament_n and_o that_o the_o commissioner_n for_o pursue_v not_o the_o intent_n of_o that_o order_n of_o reference_n and_o draw_v that_o pretence_n from_o these_o two_o premise_n the_o one_o because_o sir_n john_n have_v the_o extrajudicial_a judgement_n of_o the_o court_n of_o article_n for_o part_n of_o his_o estate_n therefore_o this_o committee_n do_v not_o pursue_v the_o intent_n of_o that_o order_n whereas_o not_o to_o insist_v pursue_v their_o intent_n of_o reference_n for_o both_o by_o a_o resolve_v and_o a_o act_n they_o settle_v the_o estate_n according_o he_o say_v the_o purchaser_n bargain_n and_o contract_n can_v from_o any_o such_o absolute_a estate_n suppose_v the_o estate_n of_o the_o trustee_n have_v be_v subject_a to_o such_o a_o trust_n in_o case_n of_o other_o man_n claim_v article_n yet_o in_o sir_n john_n case_n for_o the_o reason_n aforesaid_a there_o can_v be_v no_o such_o trust_n state_n but_o his_o case_n it_o will_v so_o appear_v sir_n john_n commit_v treason_n and_o then_o agree_v to_o surrender_v exon_n and_o to_o enjoy_v his_o estate_n after_o composition_n make_v within_o a_o month_n but_o sir_n john_n do_v not_o make_v his_o composition_n within_o four_o month_n but_o refuse_v other_o though_o perhaps_o they_o have_v otherwise_o offend_v the_o parliament_n for_o this_o committee_n at_o goldsmith_n hall_n have_v not_o the_o absolute_a power_n of_o compound_v that_o remain_v still_o in_o the_o parliament_n but_o be_v limit_v and_o tie_v up_o to_o the_o present_a and_o future_a rule_n and_o order_n of_o the_o parliament_n in_o such_o their_o compound_v with_o delinquent_n by_o the_o resolution_n of_o the_o 24_o of_o july_n 1644._o of_o the_o house_n of_o commons_o the_o committee_n at_o goldsmith_n hall_n have_v power_n to_o contract_v with_o person_n for_o the_o sale_n of_o land_n and_o house_n of_o delinquent_n according_a to_o the_o former_a order_n of_o the_o ten_o of_o that_o month_n of_o july_n at_o eight_o year_n purchase_n for_o land_n at_o least_o and_o six_o year_n purchase_n for_o house_n at_o least_o at_o the_o rate_v they_o be_v let_v at_o before_o the_o war_n begin_v by_o the_o resolution_n of_o the_o four_o of_o october_n 1645._o the_o rule_n by_o which_o the_o committee_n shall_v proceed_v with_o such_o as_o shall_v compound_v for_o their_o delinquency_n be_v to_o be_v according_a to_o the_o respective_a proportion_n set_v down_o in_o the_o proposition_n of_o both_o kingdom_n former_o send_v to_o his_o majesty_n for_o a_o safe_a and_o wellgrounded_n peace_n by_o the_o resolution_n of_o the_o eight_o of_o december_n 1645._o such_o delinquent_n as_o come_v to_o the_o city_n of_o london_n and_o westminster_n before_o the_o first_o of_o that_o month_n be_v to_o compound_v with_o the_o committee_n at_o goldsmith_n hall_n before_o the_o first_o of_o january_n than_o next_o the_o three_o of_o march_n 1644._o the_o committee_n of_o goldsmith_n hall_n make_v their_o proposition_n to_o the_o house_n of_o commons_o in_o these_o word_n follow_v that_o whereas_o now_o this_o committee_n do_v only_o take_v into_o consideration_n such_o delinquent_n as_o come_v recommend_v unto_o they_o by_o particular_a order_n if_o this_o honourable_a house_n shall_v think_v fit_a to_o give_v this_o committee_n a_o general_a power_n to_o receive_v treat_v and_o compound_v with_o whatsoever_o delinquent_n shall_v immediate_o tender_v themselves_o to_o this_o committee_n to_o be_v compound_v with_o all_o they_o first_o represent_v unto_o this_o honourable_a assembly_n such_o composition_n make_v or_o fine_n set_v upon_o they_o before_o any_o thing_n be_v conclude_v it_o will_v much_o promote_v the_o present_a affair_n and_o have_v power_n to_o send_v for_o such_o person_n as_o they_o shall_v think_v to_o attend_v that_o committee_n about_o their_o composition_n and_o fine_a whereupon_o on_o the_o six_o day_n of_o march_n follow_v the_o house_n do_v resolve_v that_o they_o assent_v unto_o this_o proposition_n and_o order_v it_o according_o by_o the_o order_n of_o the_o 23_o of_o march_n 1645._o the_o rule_n for_o goldsmith_n hall_n to_o go_v by_o upon_o composition_n with_o delinquent_n be_v to_o be_v those_o rule_n that_o be_v set_v by_o the_o house_n upon_o the_o proposition_n for_o such_o as_o come_v in_o sithence_o the_o first_o of_o december_n by_o which_o several_a order_n and_o resolution_n the_o committee_n at_o goldsmith_n hall_n be_v to_o compound_v with_o delinquent_n alone_o that_o word_n be_v only_o use_v for_o a_o expression_n and_o according_a to_o certain_a rule_n and_o order_n and_o to_o conclude_v with_o no_o delinquent_n without_o certify_v the_o composition_n itself_o to_o the_o house_n this_o committee_n then_o have_v power_n to_o compound_v with_o delinquent_n only_o and_o delinquent_n particular_o describe_v it_o be_v requisite_a for_o that_o committee_n and_o it_o be_v their_o constant_a rule_n that_o the_o compounder_n shall_v acknowledge_v either_o his_o delinquency_n or_o some_o act_n do_v by_o he_o which_o amount_v unto_o the_o same_o to_o enable_v they_o to_o treat_v with_o he_o for_o if_o a_o person_n have_v commit_v no_o offence_n worthy_a of_o sequestration_n and_o be_v notwithstanding_o sequester_v the_o parliament_n have_v appoint_v he_o elsewhere_o to_o attend_v his_o remedy_n and_o not_o here_o and_o it_o be_v fit_a in_o point_n of_o prudence_n that_o such_o acknowledgement_n or_o expression_n shall_v be_v in_o writing_n and_o not_o by_o word_n or_o any_o verbal_a expression_n only_o to_o the_o end_n that_o such_o writing_n
