for_o neither_o need_v they_o be_v discourage_v at_o the_o greatness_n of_o they_o even_o so_o when_o we_o have_v commit_v innumerable_a sin_n deserve_v eternal_a death_n and_o can_v no_o way_n satisfy_v for_o ourselves_o yet_o so_o long_o as_o he_o have_v perfect_o fulfil_v the_o law_n for_o we_o be_v make_v under_o the_o law_n in_o our_o steed_n and_o have_v perfect_o satisfy_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n by_o bear_v the_o curse_n for_o we_o our_o estate_n be_v good_a enough_o in_o he_o though_o never_o so_o irrecoverable_a in_o ourselves_o wherefore_o compare_v thy_o sin_n to_o christ_n merit_n and_o think_v be_v not_o he_o my_o saviour_n have_v not_o he_o discharge_v my_o debt_n have_v not_o he_o answer_v for_o my_o offence_n be_v not_o his_o death_n suffering_n and_o obedience_n much_o more_o able_a to_o pacify_v god_n anger_n than_o my_o transgression_n to_o provoke_v it_o doubtless_o it_o be_v so_o no_o man_n that_o profess_v christian_a religion_n will_v deny_v christ_n call_v unto_o he_o all_o that_o travel_n and_o be_v heavy_a lade_v with_o sin_n and_o promise_v refresh_v &_o rest_n unto_o their_o soul_n tell_v i_o be_v not_o thou_o lade_v be_v not_o thou_o crush_v do_v not_o thou_o confess_v thy_o sin_n to_o be_v a_o most_o insupportable_a burden_n and_o so_o heavy_a a_o load_n that_o they_o will_v sure_o press_v thou_o down_o to_o hell_n if_o scripture_n what_o store_n of_o mercy_n there_o be_v in_o god_n and_o what_o quantity_n of_o compassion_n poor_a sinner_n that_o be_v humble_v must_v look_v to_o find_v with_o he_o now_o consider_v further_o what_o be_v this_o mercy_n and_o compassion_n of_o god_n doubtless_o it_o be_v a_o willingness_n promptness_n readiness_n forwardness_n full_a resolution_n to_o accept_v of_o miserable_a sinner_n that_o have_v make_v themselves_o most_o wretched_a by_o their_o sin_n and_o to_o relieve_v their_o misery_n when_o they_o humble_o stoop_v unto_o he_o mercy_n be_v not_o a_o ability_n to_o pardon_n and_o help_v if_o one_o will_v but_o a_o willingness_n to_o help_v and_o pardon_v when_o one_o be_v able_a we_o do_v not_o call_v he_o a_o merciful_a man_n that_o can_v help_v a_o poor_a boundless_a and_o therefore_o far_o surpass_v all_o the_o sin_n of_o all_o sinner_n which_o be_v they_o what_o they_o can_v be_v for_o weight_n and_o number_n yet_o doubtless_o infinite_a they_o can_v be_v thou_o see_v how_o great_a a_o thing_n this_o globe_n of_o earth_n and_o water_n seem_v to_o be_v to_o they_o that_o walk_v upon_o it_o yet_o in_o comparison_n of_o the_o heavenly_a sphere_n that_o do_v encompass_v it_o what_o be_v it_o else_o but_o a_o point_n a_o prick_n a_o centre_n a_o thing_n of_o nothing_o that_o hold_v no_o proportion_n to_o those_o high_a region_n and_o know_v assure_o that_o there_o be_v no_o more_o proportion_n betwixt_o all_o the_o sin_n of_o all_o man_n and_o god_n mercy_n then_o betwixt_o the_o point_n of_o earth_n and_o the_o circumference_n of_o the_o sky_n he_o be_v willing_a to_o pardon_v more_o than_o all_o of_o they_o can_v commit_v and_o therefore_o only_o they_o be_v not_o pardon_v because_o they_o will_v not_o humble_v themselves_o and_o in_o a_o persuasion_n that_o god_n can_v be_v merciful_a to_o he_o do_v seek_v to_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n for_o it_o and_o for_o a_o full_a answer_n to_o this_o doubt_n now_o proceed_v to_o the_o three_o meditation_n §_o 5._o this_o be_v of_o the_o wideness_n and_o largeness_n of_o god_n promise_n to_o sinner_n which_o be_v of_o such_o a_o unlimited_a extent_n that_o they_o exclude_v no_o sinner_n for_o no_o sin_n and_o in_o no_o time_n of_o come_v to_o he_o for_o in_o all_o these_o respect_n be_v his_o promise_n wondrous_a large_a and_o of_o great_a extent_n i_o say_v first_o they_o shut_v not_o out_o any_o sinner_n but_o run_v in_o this_o generality_n come_v unto_o i_o all_z that_o be_v heavy_a lade_v even_o all_o all_o without_o any_o exception_n so_o that_o whosoever_o he_o be_v that_o be_v heavy_a lade_v he_o see_v the_o gate_n of_o god_n goodness_n stand_v open_a to_o he_o and_o wide_a enough_o to_o receive_v even_o he_o also_o among_o the_o rest_n of_o sinner_n next_o he_o except_v not_o any_o sin_n but_o tell_v we_o thus_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n purge_v we_o from_o all_o sin_n 1.7_o 1_o joh._n 1.7_o and_o again_o if_o your_o sin_n be_v as_o red_a as_o scarlet_a they_o shall_v be_v as_o white_a as_o snow_n 1.18_o isa_n 1.18_o and_o again_o 18.22_o ezek._n 18.22_o i_o will_v blot_v all_o his_o iniquity_n out_o of_o my_o remembrance_n this_o ample_a form_n of_o word_n that_o there_o may_v be_v sure_a and_o certain_a ground_n and_o footing_n for_o the_o faith_n of_o any_o man_n whatsoever_o that_o be_v tire_v with_o his_o sin_n do_v run_v unto_o this_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n to_o find_v help_n in_o time_n of_o need_n see_v god_n have_v not_o except_v thy_o person_n or_o thy_o fault_n or_o thy_o time_n of_o come_v do_v not_o thou_o except_v thyself_o make_v not_o the_o gate_n of_o god_n promise_n scant_a or_o narrow_a than_o it_o be_v he_o have_v open_v both_o the_o leaf_n of_o these_o door_n as_o wide_a as_o may_v and_o thou_o see_v he_o pardon_v and_o comfort_v yea_o though_o he_o run_v unto_o they_o in_o old_a age_n after_o many_o benefit_n receive_v and_o after_o a_o long_a time_n of_o forwardness_n in_o the_o true_a religion_n and_o service_n of_o god_n have_v thou_o be_v a_o idolater_n a_o buggerer_n a_o drunkard_n a_o railer_n a_o extortioner_n why_o such_o be_v some_o of_o the_o corinthian_n as_o paul_n remember_v they_o and_o yet_o they_o be_v wash_v sanctify_a justify_v as_o he_o also_o tell_v they_o have_v thou_o beside_o idolatry_n follow_v sorcerer_n and_o witch_n and_o practise_a enchantment_n and_o sorcery_n and_o that_o with_o so_o much_o and_o so_o long_a obstinacy_n as_o to_o kill_v those_o that_o shall_v admonish_v thou_o of_o these_o fault_n why_o so_o do_v manasses_n too_o and_o yet_o he_o be_v pardon_v have_v thou_o persecute_v christ_n blaspheme_v he_o make_v other_o to_o blaspheme_v and_o put_v they_o to_o death_n that_o will_v not_o why_o so_o do_v paul_n also_o and_o that_o after_o divers_a year_n spend_v in_o those_o place_n where_o many_o wonder_n and_o miracle_n be_v wrought_v to_o confirm_v the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n and_o yet_o he_o be_v pardon_v have_v thou_o be_v a_o harlot_n so_o be_v rahab_n and_o the_o sinful_a woman_n in_o the_o gospel_n have_v thou_o be_v a_o thief_n so_o be_v he_o that_o defend_v christ_n on_o the_o cross_n have_v thou_o deny_v and_o forswear_a christ_n so_o do_v peter_n also_o after_o he_o have_v be_v diverse_a year_n his_o disciple_n and_o yet_o all_o these_o be_v pardon_v yea_o verily_a brethren_n the_o first_o sin_n that_o ever_o be_v commit_v be_v in_o many_o respect_v the_o great_a of_o all_o particular_a act_n of_o sin_n that_o ever_o be_v commit_v since_o it_o be_v virtual_o radical_o causal_o all_o sin_n and_o yet_o lo_o adam_n and_o evah_n that_o do_v commit_v it_o they_o be_v save_v the_o smallness_n of_o the_o matter_n make_v the_o fault_n far_o great_a be_v a_o light_n and_o easy_a thing_n propound_v mere_o for_o a_o trial_n and_o as_o a_o sign_n and_o profession_n of_o their_o obedience_n as_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v forbid_v his_o child_n a_o very_a slender_a thing_n and_o that_o which_o he_o may_v easy_o forbear_v to_o testify_v his_o obedience_n unto_o he_o he_o will_v be_v more_o offend_v against_o he_o in_o this_o case_n by_o how_o much_o he_o have_v make_v choice_n of_o a_o more_o trivial_a matter_n to_o prove_v his_o obedience_n withal_o now_o for_o such_o person_n at_o such_o a_o time_n in_o such_o a_o place_n in_o such_o a_o state_n on_o such_o motive_n to_o disobey_v their_o maker_n in_o such_o a_o thing_n so_o easy_a to_o be_v observe_v and_o give_v to_o they_o only_o to_o prove_v their_o obedience_n sure_o a_o great_a disobedience_n and_o therefore_o a_o great_a sin_n can_v hardly_o be_v name_v and_o yet_o as_o i_o say_v before_o this_o sin_n be_v
pardon_v and_o those_o sinner_n save_v and_o who_o now_o can_v be_v hopeless_a who_o now_o can_v cast_v off_o comfort_n now_o therefore_o stay_v and_o look_v upon_o those_o effect_n &_o proof_n of_o god_n mercy_n and_o truth_n and_o say_v unto_o thyself_o be_v not_o god_n the_o same_o god_n that_o of_o old_a be_v not_o his_o justice_n and_o anger_n against_o sin_n as_o great_a then_o as_o now_o and_o be_v not_o his_o mercy_n and_o truth_n as_o large_a and_o sure_a now_o as_o then_o and_o why_o then_o shall_v not_o i_o also_o take_v heart_n to_o seek_v unto_o the_o same_o god_n and_o rest_n upon_o he_o and_o these_o be_v the_o most_o comfortable_a meditation_n that_o i_o can_v propound_v to_o the_o sorrowful_a and_o fearful_a heart_n of_o the_o break_a sinner_n for_o the_o supply_a of_o his_o wound_n and_o fit_v his_o soul_n for_o consolation_n chap._n vi_o §_o 1._o now_o these_o meditation_n must_v be_v conclude_v and_o intermix_v with_o confession_n and_o supplication_n the_o poor_a sinner_n must_v gather_v up_o his_o thought_n into_o petition_n and_o request_n and_o refuse_v to_o be_v hinder_v by_o any_o fear_n doubt_n or_o objection_n must_v take_v to_o himself_o boldness_n to_o fall_v down_o before_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n and_o follow_v the_o counsel_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n must_v take_v to_o himself_o word_n and_o say_v receive_v i_o gracious_o and_o take_v away_o all_o iniquity_n address_v thyself_o unto_o the_o god_n of_o heaven_n in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n his_o son_n and_o say_v lord_n behold_v here_o the_o worst_a of_o sinner_n appear_v before_o thou_o cast_v himself_o as_o low_a as_o hell_n desirous_a to_o be_v as_o full_a of_o shame_n and_o sorrow_n as_o be_v possible_a and_o therefore_o trouble_v because_o he_o can_v be_v be_v your_o part_n that_o will_v be_v comfort_v to_o continue_v meditate_v pray_v confer_v labour_v to_o inform_v your_o judgement_n aright_o in_o these_o thing_n which_o in_o do_v you_o shall_v not_o
