all_o our_o sin_n for_o the_o spirit_n of_o sanctification_n which_o be_v as_o the_o soul_n of_o that_o new_a life_n he_o creat_v in_o our_o heart_n do_v indeed_o turn_v away_o our_o affection_n upon_o the_o first_o sin_n they_o be_v sound_v guilty_a of_o yet_o do_v it_o not_o but_o call_v and_o invit_v they_o to_o repentance_n and_o wait_v for_o they_o and_o cause_v not_o his_o wrath_n to_o come_v upon_o they_o until_o to_o the_o crime_n of_o their_o sin_n they_o have_v add_v that_o of_o rebellion_n against_o that_o second_o way_n of_o salvation_n which_o he_o in_o his_o love_a kindness_n offer_v they_o to_o wit_n the_o way_n of_o repentance_n for_o that_o which_o the_o apostle_n say_v here_o of_o fornicator_n and_o the_o avaricious_a in_o particular_a be_v true_a of_o all_o vice_n in_o general_a the_o wrath_n of_o heaven_n come_v not_o upon_o they_o that_o be_v guilty_a but_o when_o by_o their_o unbelieved_n and_o obduration_n they_o have_v make_v themselves_o child_n of_o rebellion_n and_o there_o be_v not_o a_o sinner_n in_o the_o world_n how_o great_a and_o enormous_a soever_o his_o crime_n may_v be_v but_o this_o good_a and_o all-merciful_a majesty_n receive_v at_o the_o price_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o his_o only_a son_n who_o he_o such_o be_v his_o goodness_n to_o we_o deliver_v up_o to_o the_o death_n of_o the_o cross_n to_o salve_v the_o interest_n of_o his_o justice_n which_o oppose_v this_o way_n of_o mercy_n that_o he_o incline_v to_o open_v unto_o man_n after_o their_o fall_n into_o sin_n but_o this_o very_a thing_n show_v we_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n how_o great_a the_o corruption_n of_o man_n be_v and_o how_o untractable_a the_o furiousness_n of_o the_o passion_n they_o have_v for_o vice_n in_o that_o not_o content_a to_o be_v debauch_v from_o the_o service_n of_o their_o sovereign_n which_o be_v of_o itself_o a_o horrible_a attentat_fw-la and_o worthy_a of_o a_o thousand_o penalty_n they_o be_v so_o desperate_o in_o love_n with_o sin_n that_o to_o continue_v in_o it_o they_o despise_v and_o even_o reject_v with_o a_o enrage_a insolency_n all_o this_o holy_a and_o sacred_a mystery_n of_o the_o kindness_n of_o god_n and_o be_v so_o enchant_v and_o bestialize_v by_o the_o poison_n of_o sin_n that_o they_o prefer_v its_o short_a its_o vain_a and_o wretched_a pleasure_n before_o divine_a grace_n and_o salvation_n and_o do_v less_o dread_v the_o wrath_n of_o their_o sovereign_n and_o the_o society_n of_o devil_n and_o the_o torment_n of_o hell_n than_o the_o loss_n of_o that_o unworthy_a and_o shameful_a delight_n which_o the_o practice_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o fulfil_n of_o its_o lust_n do_v give_v they_o for_o a_o few_o day_n but_o we_o may_v further_o observe_v here_o the_o apostle_n holy_a art_n who_o aim_v to_o divert_v the_o colossian_n from_o avarice_n and_o the_o pollution_n of_o carnal_a pleasure_n do_v not_o tell_v they_o that_o god_n will_v punish_v they_o heavy_o if_o they_o do_v not_o avoid_v they_o this_o language_n will_v have_v in_o some_o sort_n offend_v they_o as_o imply_v that_o they_o have_v some_o inclination_n or_o disposition_n to_o such_o a_o faultinesse_n on_o the_o contrary_a presuppose_v that_o this_o will_v not_o betide_v they_o to_o give_v they_o horror_n at_o these_o crime_n he_o show_v they_o the_o just_a punishment_n of_o they_o in_o the_o person_n of_o the_o unbelieving_a and_o rebellious_a like_o a_o tender_a and_o a_o prudent_a father_n who_o to_o imprint_v a_o hatred_n of_o vice_n and_o debauch_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o his_o child_n chastise_v the_o slave_n in_o his_o presence_n that_o the_o example_n of_o those_o vile_a and_o wretched_a person_n may_v teach_v he_o what_o punishment_n he_o will_v deserve_v if_o he_o come_v to_o fall_v into_o any_o such_o disorder_n he_o who_o be_v the_o son_n of_o his_o house_n the_o heir_n of_o his_o freedom_n and_o estate_n for_o we_o must_v not_o fancy_v that_o because_o we_o have_v the_o honour_n to_o be_v of_o the_o alliance_n of_o god_n we_o may_v therefore_o commit_v with_o impunity_n those_o sin_n which_o the_o lord_n punish_v so_o severe_o in_o those_o that_o be_v without_o far_o from_o we_o be_v so_o fottish_a and_o so_o pernicious_a a_o conceit_n it_o be_v vice_n that_o god_n hate_v and_o not_o person_n and_o whoever_o harden_v himself_o therein_o live_v he_o in_o any_o profession_n pagan_a or_o christian_n reform_v or_o otherwise_o he_o be_v a_o child_n of_o rebellion_n and_o the_o advantage_n and_o excellency_n of_o the_o profession_n he_o make_v be_v so_o far_o from_o exempt_n he_o from_o that_o it_o will_v aggravate_v his_o punishment_n it_o be_v most_o just_a as_o our_o saviour_n teach_v we_o 12.47_o luke_n 12.47_o that_o he_o who_o know_v the_o will_n of_o his_o master_n elsewhere_o express_o declare_v that_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v reveal_v peremptory_o upon_o all_o ungodliness_n and_o unrighteousness_n and_o again_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v tribulation_n and_o anguish_n upon_o every_o soul_n of_o man_n that_o do_v evil_a but_o he_o have_v denounce_v this_o wrath_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o luxurious_a and_o

not_o those_o petty_a reason_n which_o flesh_n and_o blood_n inspire_v nothing_o must_v be_v hear_v against_o the_o peace_n of_o god._n the_o apostle_n require_v that_o it_o have_v the_o prime_a place_n in_o our_o heart_n that_o it_o be_v the_o governess_n and_o superintendent_a of_o they_o account_v then_o every_o thought_n that_o will_v disturb_v it_o as_o rebellious_a drive_v it_o out_o of_o your_o heart_n and_o crush_v it_o as_o a_o infernal_a thought_n which_o can_v come_v but_o from_o the_o enemy_n since_o it_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o peace_n of_o christ_n now_o here_o dear_a brethren_n i_o may_v make_v large_a complaint_n upon_o that_o rebel_a whereof_o the_o most_o of_o we_o be_v guilty_a against_o this_o peace_n of_o god_n which_o the_o apostle_n set_v up_o to_o rule_v in_o our_o heart_n we_o have_v shake_v off_o its_o yoke_n flesh_n and_o blood_n and_o their_o interest_n have_v drive_v it_o out_o from_o among_o we_o it_o be_v so_o far_o from_o possess_v the_o another_o with_o a_o scandalous_a eagerness_n and_o obstinacy_n in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n let_v we_o recall_v belove_a brethren_n into_o our_o communion_n this_o holy_a and_o bless_a peace_n of_o god_n unto_o which_o jesus_n christ_n and_o his_o gospel_n with_o so_o much_o instance_n invite_v we_o and_o henceforth_o give_v it_o that_o place_n in_o our_o heart_n which_o the_o apostle_n assign_v it_o this_o be_v the_o best_a thanks_o we_o can_v render_v this_o great_a saviour_n for_o the_o kindness_n he_o have_v show_v we_o and_o if_o we_o deny_v he_o that_o peace_n he_o demand_v of_o we_o
