christ_n do_v there_o you_o have_v the_o very_a bowel_n of_o god_n mercy_n indeed_o make_v legible_a to_o all_o the_o world_n in_o luke_n 1._o 78._o through_o the_o tender_a mercy_n of_o our_o god_n whereby_o the_o dayspring_n from_o on_o high_a have_v visit_v we_o the_o tender_a mercy_n of_o our_o god_n the_o bowel_n of_o mercy_n so_o the_o word_n be_v here_o be_v the_o depth_n of_o the_o the_o gospel_n so_o as_o not_o to_o apprehend_v the_o dreadfulness_n of_o his_o justice_n as_o if_o so_o be_v that_o god_n will_v not_o have_v the_o glory_n of_o his_o justice_n christ_n have_v satisfy_v that_o have_v christ_n satisfy_v that_o consider_v what_o thou_o say_v when_o thou_o say_v so_o do_v but_o consider_v how_o much_o of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n justice_n do_v appear_v in_o what_o christ_n have_v do_v and_o suffer_v i_o desire_v to_o hold_v forth_o no_o further_o the_o glory_n of_o justice_n than_o by_o hold_v forth_o jesus_n christ_n to_o thou_o do_v not_o thou_o think_v that_o god_n will_v have_v thou_o to_o sanctify_v in_o thy_o heart_n and_o life_n all_o the_o attribute_n of_o god_n that_o do_v appear_v in_o jesus_n christ_n now_o the_o glory_n of_o justice_n do_v appear_v as_o much_o in_o christ_n as_o the_o glory_n of_o mercy_n do_v then_o thou_o that_o do_v profess_v the_o gospel_n thou_o must_v sanctify_v this_o attribute_n of_o god_n as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o thou_o sanctifie_v they_o both_o in_o honour_v god_n justice_n i_o do_v not_o say_v that_o thou_o shall_v have_v a_o despair_a heart_n nay_o it_o will_v keep_v thou_o from_o despair_v or_o that_o thou_o shall_v have_v a_o servile_a spirit_n but_o that_o thou_o shall_v sanctify_v it_o with_o reverence_n and_o another_o thing_n that_o be_v very_o considerable_a what_o be_v god_n so_o set_v upon_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o justice_n in_o the_o gospel_n oh_o labour_n you_o to_o be_v just_a in_o all_o your_o conversation_n you_o see_v how_o god_n prize_v justice_n that_o he_o will_v rather_o have_v his_o son_n die_v and_o be_v make_v a_o curse_n than_o justice_n shall_v not_o have_v honour_n oh_o take_v heed_n of_o injustice_n the_o sin_n of_o injustice_n be_v a_o sin_n unbeseeming_a the_o gospel_n and_o here_o be_v a_o argument_n against_o injustice_n a_o strong_a than_o i_o know_v any_o in_o all_o the_o book_n of_o god_n or_o can_v be_v imagine_v by_o man_n and_o angel_n which_o be_v this_o that_o in_o the_o gospel_n i_o find_v that_o god_n have_v his_o heart_n so_o set_v upon_o justice_n that_o rather_o than_o justice_n shall_v not_o be_v satisfy_v he_o will_v not_o spare_v his_o son_n one_o farthing_n as_o the_o scripture_n say_v he_o spare_v not_o his_o own_o son_n but_o his_o son_n must_v pay_v to_o the_o uttermost_a his_o son_n must_v bear_v his_o very_a wrath_n and_o all_o that_o god_n may_v show_v his_o infinite_a love_n to_o justice_n oh_o then_o let_v christian_n love_v justice_n
to_o any_o sin_n that_o i_o shall_v think_v to_o cover_v it_o by_o another_o sin_n by_o add_v one_o sin_n to_o another_o to_o think_v to_o shift_v for_o my_o credit_n or_o esteem_v by_o add_v more_o sin_n to_o that_o already_o commit_v oh_o no_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o mercy_n have_v make_v know_v unto_o i_o in_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n what_o sin_n mean_v the_o evil_a of_o sin_n and_o therefore_o i_o have_v learn_v rather_o to_o endure_v any_o thing_n than_o to_o multiply_v iniquity_n indeed_o before_o i_o come_v to_o understand_v jesus_n christ_n i_o think_v sin_n be_v a_o evil_a body_n in_o the_o world_n shall_v ever_o know_v it_o more_o than_o i_o do_v abhor_v hell_n its_o self_n i_o such_o a_o conversation_n as_o will_v manifest_v such_o a_o work_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o heart_n as_o this_o be_v will_v become_v the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n indeed_o whereas_o otherwise_o brethren_n if_o any_o of_o you_o that_o do_v profess_v the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n shall_v make_v sin_n but_o as_o a_o slight_a thing_n and_o shall_v be_v ready_a to_o entertain_v sin_n in_o thy_o bosom_n know_v that_o by_o this_o mean_n you_o do_v no_o other_o but_o trample_v under_o foot_n the_o blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o a_o common_a thing_n as_o a_o thing_n that_o have_v no_o worth_n at_o all_o in_o it_o this_o do_v despite_n to_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n you_o do_v dishonour_n jesus_n christ_n and_o you_o do_v put_v he_o to_o open_a shame_n who_o name_n you_o have_v take_v upon_o you_o by_o your_o profession_n i_o will_v give_v you_o a_o scripture_n now_o for_o this_o in_o heb._n 6._o 4._o etc._n etc._n he_o speak_v of_o some_o that_o be_v once_o enlighten_v and_o have_v taste_v of_o the_o heavenly_a gift_n and_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o taste_v of_o the_o good_a word_n of_o god_n that_o be_v the_o gospel_n and_o the_o power_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v if_o they_o shall_v fall_v away_o it_o be_v impossible_a to_o renew_v they_o to_o repentance_n mark_v the_o reason_n see_v they_o crucify_v to_o themselves_o the_o son_n of_o god_n afresh_o and_o put_v he_o to_o a_o open_a shame_n such_o as_o fall_v off_o after_o the_o profession_n of_o the_o gospel_n into_o sinful_a way_n they_o be_v say_v here_o to_o crucify_v the_o son_n of_o god_n afresh_o and_o to_o put_v he_o to_o open_a shame_n this_o be_v far_o from_o walk_v as_o become_v the_o gospel_n and_o so_o you_o have_v another_o text_n in_o heb._n 10._o 29._o etc._n etc._n he_o speak_v of_o those_o that_o have_v fall_v off_o from_o their_o profession_n into_o sinful_a way_n of_o how_o much_o sâ—rer_a punishment_n suppose_v you_o shall_v he_o be_v think_v worthy_a of_o who_o have_v tread_v under_o foot_n the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o have_v count_v the_o blood_n of_o the_o covenant_n wherewith_o he_o be_v sanctify_v a_o unholy_a thing_n and_o have_v do_v despite_n unto_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n see_v how_o the_o holy_a ghost_n speak_v of_o such_o as_o fall_v from_o their_o profession_n into_o sinful_a way_n again_o and_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o reason_n for_o it_o for_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o for_o those_o that_o never_o make_v profession_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o fall_v to_o sin_n not_o such_o a_o horrid_a thing_n for_o they_o but_o for_o those_o that_o have_v make_v profession_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o they_o hold_v forth_o thus_o much_o this_o be_v the_o language_n of_o their_o action_n though_o they_o dare_v not_o say_v so_o lord_n i_o acknowledge_v that_o i_o have_v see_v the_o fruit_n of_o thy_o hatred_n of_o sin_n in_o the_o death_n of_o thy_o son_n that_o thou_o do_v so_o hate_v sin_n that_o thou_o make_v thy_o son_n to_o be_v a_o curse_n for_o sin_n but_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o such_o be_v the_o strength_n of_o my_o lust_n i_o must_v have_v my_o lust_n though_o it_o be_v so_o vile_a in_o thy_o eye_n as_o the_o blood_n of_o thy_o son_n go_v for_o it_o yet_o i_o must_v have_v it_o the_o seven_o thing_n that_o be_v hold_v forth_o in_o the_o gospel_n that_o call_v for_o a_o conversation_n beseem_v be_v this_o the_o great_a price_n of_o soul_n there_o be_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n that_o ever_o god_n do_v that_o do_v discover_v the_o worth_n of_o man_n immortal_a soul_n so_o as_o the_o gospel_n of_o jesus_n christ_n do_v there_o god_n manifest_v to_o all_o the_o world_n what_o a_o price_n he_o put_v upon_o man_n soul_n the_o lord_n see_v that_o man_n by_o sin_n have_v undo_v themselves_o and_o that_o those_o soul_n that_o he_o make_v be_v like_a to_o perish_v to_o all_o eternity_n yea_o be_v under_o the_o sentence_n of_o eternal_a death_n and_o must_v certain_o perish_v eternal_o if_o so_o be_v that_o some_o way_n be_v not_o find_v out_o by_o a_o infinite_a wisdom_n for_o to_o ransom_n they_o now_o say_v the_o lord_n rather_o than_o i_o will_v have_v all_o soul_n perish_v it_o be_v true_a the_o love_n that_o i_o have_v unto_o my_o justice_n be_v such_o as_o for_o many_o soul_n i_o will_v let_v they_o go_v and_o they_o shall_v perish_v but_o yet_o that_o i_o may_v show_v that_o i_o have_v a_o high_a esteem_n of_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o child_n of_o this_o have_v be_v a_o great_a testimony_n of_o god_n esteem_n of_o a_o soul_n but_o know_v that_o the_o gospel_n hold_v forth_o a_o high_a esteem_n of_o a_o soul_n than_o this_o come_v to_o when_o god_n shall_v say_v rather_o than_o this_o and_o the_o other_o soul_n shall_v perish_v i_o will_v send_v my_o son_n to_o be_v make_v a_o curse_n this_o the_o gospel_n hold_v forth_o this_o be_v infinite_o a_o high_a price_n that_o god_n put_v upon_o a_o soul_n you_o know_v therefore_o what_o the_o apostle_n say_v in_o 1_o pet._n 1._o 18_o 19_o forasmuch_o as_o you_o know_v that_o you_o be_v not_o redeem_v say_v he_o with_o corruptible_a thing_n as_o silver_n and_o gold_n then_o in_o the_o 19_o verse_n but_o with_o the_o precious_a blood_n of_o christ_n as_o of_o a_o lamb_n without_o blemish_n or_o without_o spot_n it_o be_v not_o silver_n and_o gold_n or_o any_o corruptible_a thing_n that_o can_v redeem_v you_o but_o the_o precious_a blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n oh_o that_o blood_n that_o be_v more_o precious_a than_o the_o world_n even_o all_o the_o world_n must_v let_v the_o redemption_n of_o a_o soul_n alone_o for_o ever_o all_o the_o angel_n in_o heaven_n if_o they_o will_v have_v join_v together_o to_o have_v redeem_v a_o soul_n and_o will_v have_v venture_v themselves_o to_o have_v be_v destroy_v for_o ever_o that_o they_o may_v have_v redeem_v a_o soul_n it_o glory_n and_o a_o kingdom_n and_o a_o crown_n of_o eternal_a life_n now_o they_o expect_v not_o to_o have_v it_o do_v present_o they_o be_v content_a to_o stay_v oh_o these_o be_v the_o best_a trader_n the_o best_a merchant_n that_o will_v trade_n with_o god_n for_o great_a thing_n and_o be_v content_a to_o stay_v you_o will_v choose_v that_o you_o have_v here_o for_o the_o present_a and_o therefore_o you_o have_v your_o portion_n four_o these_o thing_n that_o be_v here_o they_o be_v the_o only_a suitable_a thing_n to_o your_o heart_n and_o what_o will_v you_o do_v with_o any_o more_o hereafter_o these_o thing_n do_v exceed_o please_v you_o and_o give_v you_o content_a as_o agreeable_a to_o you_o and_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v to_o come_v be_v disagreeable_a what_o will_v man_n do_v that_o be_v carnal_a and_o wicked_a now_o what_o will_v they_o do_v in_o heaven_n certain_o if_o you_o hate_v god_n saint_n now_o that_o have_v but_o a_o little_a grace_n for_o their_o grace_n sake_n you_o will_v hate_v they_o infinite_o more_o afterward_o when_o they_o be_v perfect_a in_o grace_n when_o they_o shall_v be_v perfect_a and_o then_o when_o all_o your_o common_a gift_n shall_v be_v take_v away_o for_o so_o it_o shall_v be_v now_o the_o thing_n of_o god_n be_v unsuitable_a to_o you_o though_o you_o have_v now_o many_o common_a 〈◊〉_d and_o you_o now_o abhor_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n though_o it_o be_v imperfect_a what_o then_o when_o all_o common_a gift_n shall_v be_v take_v from_o you_o and_o grace_n make_v perfect_a how_o unsuitable_a will_v it_o be_v then_o to_o you_o therefore_o expect_v nothing_o hereafter_o five_o you_o abuse_v your_o portion_n you_o have_v now_o what_o will_v you_o do_v with_o more_o who_o will_v trust_v you_o with_o the_o true_a riches_n but_o pull_v it_o out_o and_o throw_v it_o away_o so_o when_o god_n prefer_v man_n to_o eminent_a place_n when_o through_o their_o wickedness_n they_o grow_v rot_v and_o so_o do_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o hurt_n the_o lord_n pluck_v they_o out_o in_o his_o anger_n and_o throw_v they_o away_o they_o abuse_v their_o portion_n and_o do_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o hurt_n and_o therefore_o must_v expect_v no_o more_o but_o above_o all_o the_o argument_n be_v sixthly_a because_o they_o have_v no_o interest_n in_o jesus_n christ_n the_o rich_a treasure_n of_o the_o infinite_a grace_n of_o god_n they_o be_v let_v out_o in_o jesus_n christ_n god_n have_v divers_a conduit-pipe_n as_o i_o may_v so_o say_v of_o his_o grace_n to_o let_v out_o unto_o his_o creature_n there_o be_v some_o lesser_a conduit-pipe_n and_o those_o conduit-pipe_n may_v be_v open_v through_o the_o general_a bounty_n of_o god_n but_o now_o the_o lord_n have_v the_o great_a current_n of_o his_o eternal_a mercy_n for_o some_o that_o he_o do_v intend_v eternal_a good_a unto_o and_o this_o great_a current_n of_o he_o it_o be_v stop_v by_o justice_n the_o infinite_a justice_n of_o god_n do_v stop_v this_o great_a current_n so_o as_o it_o can_v be_v open_v to_o have_v any_o drop_n of_o the_o mercy_n let_v out_o until_o divine_a justice_n come_v to_o be_v satisfy_v in_o the_o mean_a time_n the_o other_o small_a pipe_n they_o run_v the_o general_a bounty_n of_o god_n now_o then_o this_o be_v the_o very_a work_n of_o jesus_n christ_n christ_n the_o second_o person_n in_o trinity_n and_o it_o be_v the_o very_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o second_o person_n in_o the_o trinity_n see_v that_o the_o child_n of_o man_n be_v capable_a of_o eternal_a happiness_n eternal_a glory_n and_o that_o there_o be_v glorious_a treasure_n with_o god_n to_o be_v communicate_v to_o the_o child_n of_o man_n but_o through_o man_n sin_n this_o great_a current_n be_v stop_v in_o the_o mean_a time_n god_n general_a bounty_n let_v out_o a_o great_a many_o outward_a comfort_n christ_n therefore_o out_o of_o pity_n to_o mankind_n that_o manking_n may_v not_o be_v put_v off_o with_o these_o general_a outward_a comfort_n he_o come_v and_o satisfy_v god_n infinite_a justice_n that_o he_o may_v open_v the_o current_n the_o sluice_n of_o his_o infinite_a and_o eternal_a grace_n to_o other_o now_o happy_a be_v those_o creature_n who_o have_v interest_n in_o the_o lord_n christ_n for_o this_o be_v his_o work_n to_o satisfy_v the_o justice_n of_o the_o father_n that_o so_o the_o great_a pipe_n may_v be_v open_v and_o then_o flow_v in_o all_o grace_n infinite_a eternal_a grace_n when_o that_o come_v once_o to_o be_v open_v no_o marvel_n though_o we_o hear_v of_o such_o glorious_a thing_n that_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n have_v in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v no_o marvel_n for_o christ_n do_v come_v and_o open_v the_o great_a sluice_n of_o god_n infinite_a grace_n and_o mercy_n to_o they_o as_o for_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n they_o have_v but_o a_o little_a of_o the_o drizzle_v of_o god_n general_a bounty_n through_o some_o cranny_n but_o the_o floodgate_n of_o god_n grace_n be_v open_v in_o christ_n therefore_o till_o divine_a justice_n be_v satisfy_v there_o can_v be_v no_o further_o good_a for_o a_o creature_n here_o but_o the_o fruit_n of_o god_n general_a bounty_n &_o patience_n there_o be_v some_o creature_n who_o the_o lord_n have_v leave_v to_o the_o course_n of_o justice_n they_o shall_v have_v what_o they_o earn_v and_o no_o more_o this_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o god_n deal_n with_o some_o creature_n and_o other_o i_o say_v some_o there_o be_v that_o shall_v have_v what_o they_o earn_v and_o no_o more_o other_o there_o be_v who_o god_n have_v set_v his_o heart_n upon_o and_o whether_o they_o earn_v or_o no_o god_n intend_v eternal_a mercy_n unto_o they_o and_o will_v bring_v they_o unto_o eternal_a mercy_n here_o be_v the_o difference_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o therefore_o the_o one_o be_v leave_v to_o himself_o and_o the_o other_o christ_n the_o head_n of_o the_o covenant_n come_v to_o undertake_v for_o he_o that_o that_o he_o can_v do_v and_o here_o be_v the_o very_a cut_v between_o the_o condition_n of_o some_o man_n &_o other_o man_n that_o some_o have_v their_o portion_n in_o this_o world_n and_o other_o have_v another_o high_a portion_n in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v those_o have_v no_o interest_n in_o christ_n these_o have_v seven_o they_o be_v no_o son_n no_o child_n and_o therefore_o they_o must_v not_o expect_v child_n portion_n as_o many_o of_o you_o rich_a man_n when_o you_o die_v you_o will_v leave_v your_o servant_n some_o legacy_n perhaps_o you_o will_v give_v every_o servant_n in_o the_o house_n five_o pound_n or_o so_o but_o when_o you_o come_v to_o your_o child_n to_o write_v in_o your_o will_n what_o such_o a_o son_n such_o a_o daughter_n shall_v have_v that_o be_v another_o manner_n of_o business_n than_o 4._o or_o 5_o l._n great_a thing_n you_o leave_v to_o they_o now_o the_o truth_n be_v the_o world_n may_v be_v divide_v between_o child_n and_o servant_n for_o though_o the_o truth_n be_v all_o man_n be_v at_o defiance_n with_o god_n yet_o god_n make_v they_o servant_n one_o way_n or_o other_o and_o there_o be_v some_o little_a legacy_n that_o servant_n shall_v have_v but_o they_o must_v not_o expect_v the_o child_n portion_n therefore_o they_o have_v it_o here_o but_o must_v not_o have_v it_o hereafter_o in_o ezek._n 46._o 16._o thus_o say_v the_o lord_n if_o the_o prince_n give_v a_o gift_n unto_o any_o of_o his_o son_n the_o inheritance_n shall_v be_v his_o son_n but_o if_o to_o his_o servant_n than_o it_o shall_v be_v but_o till_o jubilee_n this_o be_v god_n law_n that_o if_o a_o prince_n give_v a_o gift_n to_o his_o son_n the_o son_n shall_v inherit_v it_o for_o ever_o but_o if_o he_o give_v it_o but_o to_o a_o these_o shall_v continue_v but_o for_o a_o while_n within_o a_o little_a while_o all_o will_v be_v call_v for_o again_o all_o the_o good_a and_o all_o the_o comfort_n thou_o have_v god_n
2._o may_v prove_v to_o be_v your_o portion_n it_o be_v speak_v of_o doeg_n this_o be_v the_o man_n say_v the_o psalmist_n that_o do_v not_o make_v god_n his_o trust_n but_o trust_v in_o his_o great_a riches_n this_o be_v the_o man_n so_o you_o may_v be_v point_v out_o one_o day_n this_o be_v the_o man_n doeg_n be_v a_o great_a courtier_n and_o because_o he_o be_v a_o officer_n of_o king_n saul_n and_o because_o he_o have_v his_o favour_n he_o trust_v in_o the_o favour_n of_o the_o king_n and_o in_o his_o riches_n and_o what_o do_v he_o care_n for_o david_n yea_o by_o the_o text_n it_o
