christ_n and_o the_o promise_n yet_o it_o be_v intrinsical_o and_o extreme_o different_a from_o it_o it_o do_v not_o differ_v from_o it_o in_o respect_n of_o eminency_n or_o degree_n nor_o in_o respect_n of_o existence_n or_o duration_n only_o for_o the_o one_o be_v a_o live_a spring_n and_o the_o other_o be_v a_o decay_a flood_n but_o in_o respect_n of_o formal_a nature_n also_o the_o quite_o contrary_a what_o i_o feel_v be_v one_o thing_n what_o god_n do_v promise_n be_v another_o thing_n that_o which_o the_o patient_a observe_v in_o himself_o be_v sickness_n and_o that_o which_o he_o hope_v for_o in_o the_o medicine_n be_v health_n have_v god_n make_v thou_o sensible_a of_o thy_o sin_n do_v thou_o find_v thus_o much_o that_o all_o that_o thou_o can_v do_v will_v not_o become_v a_o rebuke_n of_o corruption_n thou_o be_v able_a now_o to_o see_v the_o strength_n of_o thy_o sinful_a nature_n but_o to_o remove_v it_o thou_o be_v utter_o unable_a why_o what_o be_v now_o to_o be_v do_v true_o as_o in_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n we_o must_v then_o fly_v by_o faith_n to_o god_n and_o put_v our_o soul_n upon_o his_o free_a mercy_n for_o pardon_n so_o in_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o filthy_a strength_n of_o sin_n we_o must_v to_o heaven_n by_o faith_n and_o put_v our_o soul_n on_o god_n faithful_a promise_n in_o christ_n for_o the_o heal_n and_o subdue_a of_o it_o this_o be_v the_o way_n and_o therefore_o strive_v to_o walk_v in_o it_o you_o may_v try_v other_o water_n but_o they_o shall_v not_o help_v you_o and_o perplex_v your_o own_o thought_n but_o they_o shall_v not_o avail_v you_o the_o cure_n of_o the_o sinful_a soul_n be_v only_o in_o heaven_n and_o it_o be_v faith_n only_o which_o can_v lift_v up_o a_o soul_n to_o god_n heart_n to_o duty_n to_o pray_v and_o seek_v of_o god_n and_o sure_o if_o god_n do_v purpose_n and_o mean_v any_o good_a to_o i_o he_o will_v in_o some_o measure_n frame_n and_o incline_v and_o excite_v my_o heart_n towards_o he_o second_o yea_o and_o again_o though_o i_o do_v sometime_o seek_v and_o entreat_v yet_o i_o observe_v that_o what_o i_o be_v that_o i_o be_o nothing_o come_v of_o it_o how_o then_o can_v i_o may_v i_o shall_v i_o be_v enduce_v to_o believe_v sol._n here_o be_v two_o sore_a and_o real_a scruple_n which_o do_v indeed_o vehement_o beat_v upon_o a_o sensible_a sinner_n i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o assoil_v they_o successive_o 1._o i_o can_v find_v a_o heart_n to_o any_o duty_n to_o pray_v for_o faith_n etc._n etc._n i_o answer_v 1._o as_o the_o inability_n to_o holy_a duty_n depend_v on_o natural_a corruption_n so_o the_o indisposition_n towards_o they_o depend_v exceed_o upon_o unbelief_n there_o be_v nothing_o dishearten_v a_o man_n more_o towards_o god_n than_o it_o for_o besides_o this_o that_o unbelief_n in_o its_o own_o nature_n be_v a_o departure_n from_o god_n it_o be_v a_o bias_n draw_v the_o soul_n downward_o this_o also_o be_v true_a of_o it_o that_o it_o represent_v god_n to_o the_o soul_n in_o all_o the_o appearance_n and_o method_n of_o discouragement_n it_o make_v the_o soul_n to_o see_v nothing_o in_o god_n or_o from_o god_n which_o may_v incline_v it_o to_o he_o o_o say_v unbelief_n there_o be_v such_o holiness_n and_o purity_n in_o he_o that_o he_o will_v never_o endure_v thou_o there_o be_v such_o truth_n and_o justice_n in_o he_o that_o he_o will_v sure_o be_v avenge_v of_o thou_o there_o be_v such_o strength_n and_o power_n in_o he_o that_o he_o will_v certain_o meet_v with_o thou_o and_o lay_v load_n on_o their_o service_n but_o what_o of_o this_o to_o thou_o he_o be_v a_o god_n hear_v prayer_n yea_o but_o he_o will_v not_o regard_v the_o cry_n nor_o tear_n of_o some_o but_o their_o sacrifice_n be_v
