please_v and_o so_o unexorable_a when_o displease_v that_o do_v little_a suit_n the_o sweet_a and_o gracious_a heart_n of_o god_n which_o be_v pure_a and_o peaceful_a hardly_o provoke_v and_o gentle_a easy_a to_o be_v entreat_v slow_a to_o anger_v and_o without_o fury_n which_o rest_n only_o in_o the_o bosom_n of_o fool_n delight_v in_o mercy_n and_o abound_v in_o goodness_n the_o father_n of_o mercy_n pardon_v iniquity_n transgression_n and_o sin_n and_o when_o he_o be_v provoke_v to_o visit_v and_o chasten_v yet_o he_o do_v it_o gentle_o and_o slow_o and_o by_o degree_n not_o at_o once_o
but_o in_o three_o or_o four_o generation_n as_o it_o may_v be_v bear_v lest_o the_o spirit_n that_o he_o have_v make_v shall_v fail_v before_o he_o and_o when_o he_o afflict_v he_o will_v not_o do_v it_o for_o ever_o for_o he_o do_v it_o not_o willing_o or_o from_o his_o heart_n but_o he_o will_v turn_v again_o and_o show_v compassion_n because_o he_o delight_v in_o goodness_n and_o his_o pity_n and_o compassion_n never_o fail_v and_o his_o tender_a mercy_n be_v over_o all_o his_o work_n yea_o all_o his_o work_n shall_v praise_v he_o the_o earth_n and_o all_o that_o be_v in_o it_o and_o the_o observe_v and_o commend_v but_o require_v and_o commanâ—â—so_o in_o a_o tender_a heart_a father_n to_o the_o son_n of_o his_o own_o bowel_n who_o yet_o he_o must_v chasten_v and_o not_o spare_v or_o pardon_v it_o be_v that_o very_a phrase_n which_o yet_o sure_a can_v mean_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v always_o angry_a and_o never_o reconcile_v but_o that_o he_o sore_o chasten_v and_o correct_v in_o not_o take_v away_o his_o everlasting_a kindness_n yet_o as_o he_o speak_v of_o solomon_n perhaps_o one_o of_o the_o great_a sinner_n ever_o live_v for_o this_o i_o will_v afflict_v or_o chasten_v the_o house_n of_o david_n but_o not_o for_o ever_o not_o for_o ever_o i_o will_v not_o retain_v my_o anger_n for_o ever_o which_o be_v express_o forbid_a man_n in_o general_n and_o so_o christ_n also_o in_o the_o very_a law_n that_o say_v thou_o shall_v not_o avenge_v thyself_o or_o reserve_v thy_o anger_n no_o not_o till_o the_o sun_n go_v down_o for_o so_o this_o law_n be_v press_v upon_o see_v and_o know_v and_o acknowledge_v the_o iniquity_n of_o their_o father_n also_o which_o god_n promise_v rather_o than_o threaten_v to_o moses_n on_o mount_n sinai_n also_o as_o we_o read_v in_o the_o 26._o of_o leviticus_n so_o much_o cite_v and_o confess_v sor_n their_o father_n also_o in_o the_o nine_o chapter_n of_o daniel_n ezra_n and_o nehemiah_n
