but_o dare_v not_o expect_v much_o second_o if_o a_o man_n do_v meet_v with_o disappointment_n and_o he_o do_v apply_v himself_o to_o the_o creature_n in_o god_n way_n disappointment_n will_v not_o add_v any_o great_a trouble_n or_o vexation_n to_o that_o man_n or_o woman_n though_o he_o meet_v with_o little_a refreshment_n nay_o though_o instead_o of_o help_n and_o refreshment_n he_o shall_v meet_v with_o a_o addition_n of_o his_o sorrow_n and_o trouble_n yet_o if_o in_o god_n way_n he_o will_v not_o be_v trouble_v because_o his_o eye_n be_v upon_o god_n and_o i_o see_v it_o be_v not_o the_o will_n of_o the_o lord_n i_o shall_v yet_o have_v comfort_n and_o why_o shall_v i_o fret_v myself_o see_v the_o instrument_n be_v but_o a_o empty_a pipe_n and_o no_o creature_n can_v refresh_v i_o if_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o refresh_v i_o and_o thus_o you_o have_v see_v when_o we_o be_v in_o god_n way_n and_o when_o out_o of_o god_n way_n in_o apply_v ourselves_o to_o the_o creature_n and_o look_v to_o the_o creature_n for_o help_v and_o for_o relief_n and_o o_o that_o this_o may_v teach_v we_o to_o go_v more_o to_o god_n and_o apply_v ourselves_o more_o to_o christ_n object_n but_o it_o may_v be_v some_o poor_a soul_n will_v say_v well_o i_o have_v not_o only_o go_v to_o the_o creature_n but_o i_o have_v apply_v myself_o to_o god_n and_o yet_o true_o i_o meet_v with_o little_a refreshment_n i_o have_v cry_v to_o christ_n in_o the_o time_n of_o my_o affliction_n and_o yet_o my_o burden_n do_v continue_v answ_n first_o to_o this_o i_o answer_v it_o may_v be_v when_o thou_o have_v come_v to_o christ_n thou_o have_v complain_v of_o thy_o burden_n and_o of_o thy_o affliction_n but_o thou_o have_v not_o complain_v of_o thy_o sin_n thou_o have_v not_o complain_v of_o that_o which_o be_v the_o great_a matter_n of_o complaint_n and_o if_o thou_o have_v at_o any_o time_n look_v more_o to_o thy_o burden_n and_o affliction_n and_o have_v not_o complain_v of_o that_o which_o be_v the_o great_a matter_n of_o complaint_n no_o wonder_n then_o though_o thou_o have_v meet_v with_o no_o ease_n second_o let_v i_o say_v it_o may_v be_v thou_o have_v bring_v thy_o complaint_n and_o spread_v they_o before_o the_o lord_n yet_o thou_o have_v not_o leave_v thy_o burden_n with_o the_o lord_n many_o a_o soul_n come_v with_o a_o great_a burden_n ah_o but_o it_o carry_v it_o away_o and_o do_v not_o leave_v it_o with_o the_o lord_n and_o if_o the_o burden_n be_v not_o leave_v with_o the_o lord_n no_o wonder_n that_o we_o have_v no_o ease_n christ_n be_v willing_a we_o shall_v leave_v our_o burden_n with_o he_o and_o in_o so_o do_v we_o shall_v find_v refreshment_n three_o and_o let_v i_o say_v further_o that_o it_o may_v be_v the_o lord_n have_v hear_v thy_o cry_n and_o thy_o complaint_n but_o thou_o be_v not_o aware_a of_o it_o thou_o have_v not_o take_v notice_n of_o it_o through_o unthankfulness_n thou_o have_v not_o observe_v that_o which_o the_o lord_n have_v do_v the_o lord_n at_o least_o he_o have_v thus_o far_o hear_v thou_o that_o he_o have_v support_v thy_o spirit_n under_o thy_o burden_n and_o thou_o have_v be_v keep_v up_o so_o that_o thy_o soul_n have_v not_o fail_v and_o thy_o spirit_n have_v not_o faint_v under_o thy_o burden_n and_o true_o this_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n and_o worthy_a to_o be_v take_v notice_n of_o and_o this_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o your_o go_v to_o god_n and_o the_o creature_n oh_o that_o we_o may_v be_v invite_v by_o this_o to_o apply_v ourselves_o more_o to_o christ_n in_o time_n of_o distress_n and_o spread_v our_o complaint_n before_o christ_n for_o in_o go_v to_o the_o creature_n many_o time_n the_o spirit_n be_v wound_v ah_o but_o in_o go_v to_o god_n the_o spirit_n shall_v be_v support_v though_o christ_n do_v not_o give_v out_o a_o present_a answer_n yet_o the_o heart_n shall_v be_v support_v under_o all_o its_o burden_n but_o now_o in_o go_v to_o man_n many_o time_n the_o heart_n and_o the_o spirit_n it_o be_v wound_v by_o those_o disappointment_n that_o we_o meet_v withal_o while_o we_o expect_v that_o from_o the_o creature_n which_o it_o can_v do_v two_o thing_n only_o i_o shall_v propound_v to_o urge_v this_o duty_n upon_o you_o to_o make_v we_o more_o in_o go_v to_o christ_n and_o less_o to_o the_o creature_n it_o be_v a_o great_a sin_n and_o folly_n when_o as_o we_o leave_v christ_n and_o go_v to_o the_o creature_n in_o the_o day_n of_o our_o distress_n first_o it_o be_v a_o great_a sin_n for_o what_o do_v we_o then_o but_o set_v up_o the_o creature_n in_o the_o room_n of_o christ_n you_o know_v how_o sensible_a jacob_n be_v of_o this_o evil_a he_o look_v upon_o it_o as_o a_o great_a evil_n when_o as_o rachel_n come_v to_o he_o there_o be_v a_o world_n of_o folly_n in_o it_o in_o go_v from_o god_n in_o time_n of_o distress_n to_o the_o creature_n it_o be_v a_o piece_n of_o greâ—â—_n folly_n for_o a_o man_n to_o go_v from_o the_o fountain_n to_o the_o break_a cistern_n to_o leave_v the_o fountain_n and_o think_v a_o break_a cistern_n shall_v supply_v he_o it_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o folly_n for_o a_o man_n to_o go_v to_o a_o deaf_a man_n one_o that_o can_v hear_v pour_v out_o his_o complaint_n &_o expect_v that_o he_o shall_v speak_v a_o word_n of_o refreshment_n so_o much_o folly_n there_o be_v when_o we_o go_v to_o the_o creature_n and_o do_v not_o apply_v ourselves_o too_o god_n if_o a_o man_n shall_v go_v to_o a_o beggar_n one_o that_o have_v no_o food_n or_o raiment_n and_o a_o man_n shall_v spend_v a_o deal_n of_o time_n in_o ask_v food_n and_o raiment_n and_o if_o he_o do_v not_o give_v it_o go_v away_o rail_v what_o a_o deal_n of_o folly_n be_v it_o and_o so_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o folly_n there_o be_v when_o we_o do_v go_v to_o the_o creature_n and_o do_v not_o go_v to_o god_n we_o go_v to_o they_o that_o be_v poor_a and_o naked_a and_o forsake_v god_n that_o have_v all_o store_n of_o do_v the_o saint_n do_v good_a work_n ignorant_o do_v good_a and_o do_v not_o know_v no_o that_o which_o be_v do_v out_o of_o ignorance_n be_v sinful_a no_o they_o know_v what_o they_o do_v and_o that_o they_o do_v but_o according_a to_o the_o mind_n of_o christ_n ah_o but_o when_o do_v they_o take_v no_o notice_n of_o it_o their_o right_a hand_n shall_v not_o know_v what_o their_o left_a hand_n do_v for_o they_o dare_v not_o plead_v their_o service_n and_o their_o duty_n upon_o this_o account_n for_o they_o know_v whatever_o be_v good_a be_v not_o they_o but_o christ_n whatever_o in_o they_o that_o be_v good_a and_o whatever_o good_a they_o have_v do_v be_v by_o the_o lord_n spirit_n and_o therefore_o they_o know_v there_o be_v nothing_o for_o they_o to_o plead_v by_o way_n of_o merit_n no_o the_o more_o they_o be_v enable_v and_o assist_v to_o do_v for_o christ_n the_o more_o they_o be_v engage_v unto_o christ_n christ_n be_v not_o engage_v to_o they_o but_o they_o engage_v to_o christ_n and_o beside_o whatever_o they_o have_v do_v in_o the_o service_n of_o the_o lord_n as_o they_o it_o be_v accompany_v with_o many_o weakness_n and_o frailty_n that_o if_o it_o be_v not_o for_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n and_o christ_n present_v they_o god_n the_o father_n can_v not_o accept_v the_o best_a service_n that_o ever_o be_v do_v by_o the_o best_a man_n and_o beside_o the_o saint_n know_v that_o when_o they_o have_v do_v all_o they_o can_v they_o be_v unprofitable_a servant_n if_o they_o can_v do_v a_o thousand_o time_n more_o for_o god_n yet_o they_o have_v nothing_o to_o plead_v christ_n teach_v we_o so_o luke_n 17._o 10._o so_o likewise_o you_o when_o you_o shall_v have_v do_v all_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v command_v you_o say_v we_o be_v unprofitable_a servant_n we_o have_v do_v that_o which_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o do_v mark_v if_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o any_o of_o god_n people_n to_o do_v all_o that_o the_o lord_n require_v yet_o there_o be_v nothing_o to_o plead_v you_o have_v do_v but_o that_o which_o be_v your_o duty_n that_o which_o be_v your_o debt_n now_o the_o payment_n of_o a_o debt_n be_v no_o engagement_n he_o to_o who_o the_o debt_n be_v pay_v be_v not_o engage_v you_o have_v do_v but_o your_o duty_n and_o so_o the_o best_a of_o all_o the_o saint_n if_o they_o can_v do_v all_o that_o be_v require_v they_o do_v but_o pay_v their_o debt_n there_o be_v a_o debt_n of_o thankfulness_n not_o debt_n of_o justice_n we_o have_v do_v that_o which_o be_v duty_n which_o we_o owe_v to_o mercy_n and_o free_a grace_n again_o the_o saint_n can_v plead_v their_o suffering_n though_o a_o man_n suffer_v never_o so_o much_o and_o suffer_v never_o so_o well_o and_o suffer_v upon_o a_o good_a ground_n and_o suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n yet_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o he_o can_v plead_v by_o way_n of_o merit_n for_o there_o be_v no_o man_n suffer_v without_o sin_n there_o be_v merit_n in_o christ_n suffering_n because_o he_o suffer_v and_o have_v no_o sin_n of_o his_o own_o he_o be_v the_o lamb_n of_o god_n without_o spot_n but_o now_o the_o best_a of_o saint_n upon_o earth_n who_o do_v suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n can_v suffer_v without_o sin_n though_o it_o be_v not_o punish_v for_o sin_n yet_o still_o there_o be_v sin_n in_o the_o person_n and_o so_o can_v be_v no_o desert_n and_o then_o beside_o it_o be_v that_o which_o the_o saint_n owe_v to_o chris_n as_o they_o owe_v all_o duty_n so_o they_o owe_v all_o suffering_n for_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n and_o if_o they_o shall_v suffer_v a_o thousand_o time_n more_o than_o ever_o any_o man_n suffer_v it_o be_v but_o what_o they_o owe_v and_o therefore_o suffer_v can_v be_v plead_v no_o more_o than_o service_n and_o so_o you_o have_v the_o first_o part_n of_o the_o point_n but_o of_o the_o second_o part_n to_o speak_v more_o brief_o to_o that_o as_o a_o soul_n be_v take_v off_o of_o itself_o so_o it_o plead_v only_a mercy_n flee_v to_o free_a grace_n come_v to_o naked_a mercy_n first_o for_o a_o gracious_a heart_n it_o see_v and_o know_v that_o there_o be_v a_o fullness_n in_o mercy_n to_o satisfy_v all_o its_o want_n all_o its_o desire_n there_o be_v enough_o in_o mercy_n to_o make_v abundant_a supply_n to_o it_o as_o it_o see_v there_o be_v that_o in_o itself_o which_o may_v make_v it_o run_v from_o itself_o so_o there_o be_v that_o in_o mercy_n and_o free_a grace_n which_o may_v make_v it_o run_v to_o it_o as_o to_o a_o city_n of_o refuge_n there_o be_v a_o fullness_n in_o mercy_n which_o may_v answer_v the_o soul_n desire_n and_o want_n for_o as_o you_o hear_v before_o when_o the_o lord_n do_v discover_v to_o a_o man_n that_o he_o be_v a_o poor_a creature_n destitute_a and_o naked_a why_o the_o same_o spirit_n do_v discover_v that_o there_o be_v enough_o in_o mercy_n to_o supply_v all_o want_n mercy_n have_v make_v great_a provision_n for_o the_o poor_a naked_a destitute_a creature_n and_o as_o it_o discover_v to_o a_o soul_n that_o it_o be_v a_o sinful_a creature_n so_o the_o same_o spirit_n do_v discover_v that_o there_o be_v enough_o in_o mercy_n to_o take_v away_o all_o sin_n and_o pardon_v all_o transgression_n and_o mercy_n and_o free_a grace_n have_v set_v open_a a_o fountain_n a_o infinite_a fountain_n a_o bottomless_a fountain_n of_o merit_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n for_o the_o wash_n away_o of_o sin_n and_o as_o the_o soul_n see_v that_o it_o be_v a_o poor_a weak_a creature_n so_o the_o same_o spirit_n do_v discover_v to_o it_o that_o mercy_n be_v strong_a and_o mercy_n be_v able_a to_o reach_v he_o in_o every_o condition_n and_o able_a to_o lift_v he_o up_o in_o the_o low_a condition_n and_o as_o it_o see_v that_o it_o be_v a_o enemy_n to_o god_n so_o the_o same_o spirit_n do_v discover_v that_o mercy_n can_v reconcile_v it_o show_v what_o be_v do_v for_o the_o reconciliation_n of_o poor_a creature_n mercy_n have_v give_v jesus_n christ_n for_o to_o slay_v the_o enmity_n and_o to_o reconcile_v poor_a lose_v creature_n thus_o i_o say_v a_o gracious_a soul_n it_o will_v flee_v to_o mercy_n it_o see_v that_o there_o be_v a_o fullness_n in_o mercy_n to_o answer_v all_o its_o want_n second_o and_o as_o it_o see_v a_o fullness_n so_o there_o be_v a_o freeness_n in_o the_o lord_n mercy_n and_o therefore_o run_v to_o mercy_n as_o this_o woman_n do_v and_o plead_v mercy_n and_o to_o cast_v herself_o into_o the_o arm_n of_o mercy_n because_o free_a see_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v a_o tender_a heart_a god_n and_o that_o mercy_n fly_v free_o from_o he_o mercy_n make_v free_a invitation_n the_o soul_n see_v and_o hear_v that_o it_o be_v persuade_v to_o apply_v itself_o to_o mercy_n three_o such_o a_o soul_n will_v flee_v to_o mercy_n because_o it_o know_v that_o all_o that_o god_n do_v for_o his_o people_n in_o the_o business_n of_o salvation_n it_o be_v for_o the_o exaltation_n of_o mercy_n and_o free_a grace_n the_o great_a work_n of_o the_o redemption_n of_o soul_n it_o be_v only_o for_o the_o exaltation_n of_o mercy_n and_o free_a grace_n it_o be_v free_a grace_n that_o find_v out_o the_o way_n of_o redeem_v soul_n and_o free_a grace_n that_o give_v sinner_n to_o christ_n and_o free_a grace_n that_o give_v christ_n for_o sinner_n and_o free_a grace_n give_v christ_n unto_o sinner_n and_o all_o that_o god_n do_v in_o sanctify_v and_o save_v his_o people_n be_v upon_o the_o account_n of_o mercy_n and_o free_a grace_n and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n he_o invite_v soul_n to_o himself_o and_o he_o make_v choice_n of_o such_o as_o may_v most_o of_o all_o declare_v the_o
make_v a_o close_a with_o christ_n and_o to_o draw_v to_o a_o conclusion_n let_v we_o labour_n to_o help_v forward_o god_n design_n do_v god_n make_v choice_n of_o such_o o_o than_o we_o shall_v help_v forward_o god_n work_n especial_o where_o any_o stand_v relate_v to_o we_o weakness_n shall_v not_o hinder_v they_o may_v come_v to_o christ_n and_o therefore_o be_v in_o the_o use_n of_o the_o mean_n pray_v for_o they_o and_o speak_v to_o they_o and_o improve_v every_o talon_n that_o god_n have_v give_v you_o even_o for_o the_o weak_a and_o unworthy_a and_o again_o take_v heed_n that_o we_o do_v not_o murmur_v against_o any_o of_o the_o dispensation_n of_o the_o lord_n take_v heed_n we_o do_v not_o envy_v this_o dispensation_n and_o that_o our_o heart_n do_v not_o rise_v up_o against_o hard_a thought_n of_o god_n it_o be_v because_o man_n have_v too_o good_a thought_n of_o themselves_o whence_o come_v it_o else_o that_o man_n be_v up_o and_o down_o in_o their_o spirit_n and_o comfort_v according_a to_o their_o act_n but_o from_o hence_o because_o man_n be_v prove_v to_o look_v to_o something_o of_o their_o own_o as_o a_o foundation_n of_o their_o acceptance_n with_o god_n whence_o be_v it_o else_o that_o man_n be_v keep_v from_o close_v with_o christ_n because_o of_o the_o sight_n of_o their_o unworthiness_n but_o from_o hence_o because_o man_n will_v have_v a_o price_n in_o their_o own_o hand_n to_o buy_v grace_n of_o he_o and_o mercy_n of_o he_o but_o it_o may_v be_v many_o a_o poor_a soul_n will_v say_v that_o he_o do_v not_o look_v to_o his_o worthiness_n
