alone_o but_o always_o the_o great_a and_o more_o heinous_a that_o the_o sin_n be_v it_o have_v the_o great_a and_o worse_a sin_n wait_v on_o it_o therefore_o when_o you_o fall_v delay_v not_o to_o arise_v but_o repair_v to_o the_o fountain_n of_o mercy_n and_o seek_v grace_n in_o time_n run_v to_o prayer_n run_v to_o the_o church_n of_o god_n wheresoever_o it_o be_v whether_o in_o the_o field_n therefore_o as_o time_n will_v permit_v and_o god_n shall_v give_v grace_n i_o will_v let_v you_o understand_v how_o the_o holy_a spirit_n employ_v his_o travail_n in_o the_o heart_n and_o mind_n of_o man_n and_o what_o pain_n the_o holy_a ghost_n take_v in_o create_v and_o form_v this_o jewel_n of_o faith_n in_o your_o soul_n yet_o before_o i_o enter_v this_o work_n to_o let_v you_o see_v the_o travail_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o work_v of_o this_o faith_n in_o your_o heart_n it_o be_v necessary_a and_o more_o than_o necessary_a that_o you_o understand_v first_o your_o own_o misery_n and_o infirmity_n and_o that_o you_o know_v how_o the_o lord_n be_v induce_v to_o recover_v you_o out_o of_o your_o old_a estate_n and_o to_o recreate_v you_o who_o be_v lose_v by_o the_o fall_n of_o your_o father_n adam_n then_o to_o consider_v of_o this_o matter_n more_o deep_o i_o offer_v to_o your_o remembrance_n this_o ground_n that_o man_n universal_o and_o every_o one_o particular_o be_v corrupt_v and_o lose_v and_o that_o by_o our_o first_o father_n fall_n for_o if_o there_o be_v no_o more_o but_o that_o same_o first_o fault_n and_o sin_n of_o he_o we_o be_v all_o of_o we_o just_o condemn_v to_o a_o double_a death_n both_o of_o body_n &_o soul_n for_o ever_o man_v thus_o universallie_o and_o particular_o be_v utterlie_o lose_v without_o any_o hope_n at_o all_o of_o recovery_n leave_v in_o his_o soul_n without_o any_o sense_n of_o the_o recovery_n of_o that_o former_a estate_n or_o repair_v of_o that_o image_n which_o he_o have_v lose_v through_o sin_n long_o before_o he_o be_v i_o say_v lose_v by_o this_o sin_n and_o leave_v in_o this_o desperate_a estate_n in_o himself_o what_o do_v god_n the_o everliving_a god_n only_o wise_a who_o way_n be_v unserchable_a have_v find_v out_o a_o way_n how_o that_o man_n this_o way_n lose_v yet_o he_o may_v be_v save_v herein_o he_o seek_v counsel_n from_o who_o not_o from_o any_o â—reature_n but_o he_o great_a riches_n and_o bowel_n of_o his_o mercy_n and_o in_o the_o exceed_a greatness_n of_o the_o power_n of_o his_o mercy_n towards_o we_o the_o apostle_n in_o that_o epistle_n to_o the_o ephesian_n can_v get_v word_n enough_o to_o express_v this_o he_o know_v not_o how_o to_o begin_v nor_o how_o to_o end_v when_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o riches_n of_o that_o mercy_n and_o if_o you_o look_v well_o into_o that_o epistle_n to_o the_o ephesian_n you_o shall_v find_v more_o high_a and_o excellent_a style_n give_v to_o the_o riches_n of_o that_o mercy_n in_o that_o epistle_n then_o in_o any_o other_o part_n of_o the_o scripture_n it_o please_v he_o i_o say_v of_o his_o own_o mercy_n not_o to_o give_v we_o simple_o the_o
everlasting_a but_o alas_o we_o be_v come_v to_o such_o a_o loathe_n disdain_n or_o reject_v of_o heavenly_a food_n in_o this_o country_n that_o where_o man_n in_o the_o beginning_n will_v have_v go_v some_o twenty_o mile_n some_o forty_o mile_n to_o the_o hear_n of_o this_o word_n they_o will_v scarce_o now_o come_v from_o their_o house_n to_o the_o church_n and_o remain_v there_o but_o one_o convict_v they_o and_o therefore_o they_o avoid_v it_o but_o they_o shall_v not_o do_v so_o they_o shall_v not_o shun_v christ_n nor_o abstain_v from_o his_o word_n that_o accuse_v they_o but_o they_o shall_v hear_v the_o word_n and_o as_o the_o word_n accuse_v they_o they_o shall_v accuse_v themselves_o also_o that_o thereby_o they_o may_v come_v to_o a_o confession_n of_o their_o sin_n &_o obtain_v mercy_n for_o the_o same_o so_o when_o christ_n accuse_v thou_o thou_o shall_v not_o run_v from_o he_o but_o thou_o shall_v draw_v near_o to_o he_o thou_o shall_v threaten_v kindness_n of_o be_v far_o from_o the_o incarnation_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o far_a that_o it_o be_v from_o his_o incarnation_n the_o word_n be_v ever_o the_o more_o obscure_o preach_v under_o dark_a type_n and_o shadow_n yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o father_n that_o hear_v that_o word_n preach_v and_o believe_v it_o not_o they_o perish_v all_o in_o the_o wilderness_n except_o two_o as_o you_o have_v sometime_o hear_v out_o of_o this_o place_n and_o if_o they_o perish_v for_o the_o contempt_n of_o so_o dark_a a_o light_n much_o more_o must_v you_o that_o be_v their_o child_n perish_v for_o the_o contempt_n of_o the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n who_o be_v rise_v so_o plain_o &_o shine_v so_o clear_o now_o in_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n except_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o mercy_n prevent_v you_o and_o except_o you_o prevent_v his_o judgement_n by_o earnest_a seek_n and_o except_o you_o seek_v a_o feel_n and_o seek_v inward_a sense_n that_o you_o may_v see_v and_o feel_v the_o grace_n that_o be_v offer_v crave_v again_o that_o he_o will_v sanctify_v your_o heart_n by_o repentance_n that_o you_o may_v repent_v you_o of_o your_o sin_n &_o lead_v a_o honest_a &_o a_o godly_a conversation_n in_o all_o time_n to_o come_v that_o both_o body_n and_o soul_n may_v be_v save_v in_o the_o great_a day_n of_o the_o lord_n the_o lord_n work_v this_o in_o your_o soul_n that_o you_o may_v seek_v mercy_n &_o seek_v mercy_n you_o may_v obtain_v mercy_n and_o in_o mercy_n you_o may_v lay_v hold_n on_o christ_n and_o that_o for_o his_o righteous_a merit_n to_o who_o with_o the_o therefore_o chief_o it_o behoove_v every_o man_n and_o woman_n before_o they_o do_v enter_v in_o to_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n before_o they_o give_v their_o ear_n to_o the_o word_n or_o their_o mouth_n to_o the_o sacrament_n it_o behoove_v they_o to_o try_v and_o examine_v their_o own_o conscience_n not_o that_o the_o apostle_n will_v seclude_v the_o trial_n of_o other_o man_n for_o as_o it_o be_v lawful_a for_o i_o to_o try_v myself_o so_o no_o doubt_n it_o be_v lawful_a for_o my_o pastor_n to_o try_v i_o it_o be_v lawful_a for_o other_o man_n that_o have_v a_o care_n over_o i_o to_o try_v and_o examine_v i_o but_o no_o man_n can_v do_v this_o so_o profitable_o to_o i_o as_o i_o myself_o and_o though_o we_o have_v never_o so_o many_o tryer_n and_o examiner_n all_o be_v nothing_o if_o we_o try_v not_o ourselves_o so_o whether_o there_o be_v a_o second_o or_o a_o three_o tryer_n and_o examiner_n let_v ourselves_o be_v one_o and_o the_o first_o and_o no_o doubt_n the_o apostle_n mind_n be_v this_o to_o let_v we_o see_v clear_o that_o he_o that_o come_v to_o that_o table_n and_o have_v not_o that_o knowledge_n nor_o be_v not_o of_o that_o ability_n to_o try_v himself_o be_v a_o profane_a comer_n come_v uncleane_o and_o therefore_o must_v needs_o come_v to_o his_o own_o destruction_n let_v every_o man_n therefore_o grow_v in_o knowledge_n grow_v in_o understanding_n grow_v in_o the_o spirit_n that_o he_o may_v be_v the_o more_o able_a to_o try_v and_o examine_v his_o own_o conscience_n to_o the_o end_n that_o you_o may_v go_v forward_o and_o proceed_v in_o the_o work_n of_o this_o trial_n with_o the_o better_a speed_n and_o with_o the_o better_a fruit_n in_o this_o examination_n we_o lay_v down_o this_o order_n first_o of_o all_o i_o show_v what_o that_o be_v which_o we_o call_v a_o conscience_n and_o what_o be_v mean_v thereby_o next_o i_o declare_v for_o what_o cause_v you_o shall_v put_v your_o conscience_n to_o this_o trial_n and_o narrow_a examination_n and_o three_o so_o far_o as_o time_n suffer_v i_o enter_v into_o the_o point_n wherein_o every_o one_o of_o you_o shall_v try_v and_o examine_v your_o own_o conscience_n as_o for_o
