lie_v the_o force_n of_o the_o objection_n to_o which_o i_o shall_v only_o at_o present_a return_n this_o answer_n that_o man_n do_v not_o argue_v thus_o in_o other_o case_n where_o yet_o the_o reason_n seem_v to_o be_v the_o very_a same_o in_o matter_n that_o concern_v their_o body_n and_o estate_n the_o physician_n and_o the_o lawyer_n be_v believe_v though_o it_o be_v very_o think_v that_o they_o live_v by_o their_o profession_n as_o well_o as_o we_o why_o then_o shall_v man_n deal_v so_o partial_o and_o unequal_o only_a with_o their_o soul_n be_v we_o not_o move_v by_o better_a principle_n and_o sway_v by_o the_o argument_n and_o consideration_n of_o another_o world_n we_o may_v for_o aught_o we_o know_v with_o every_o whit_n as_o much_o advantage_n to_o ourselves_o suffer_v have_v be_v so_o unhappy_a as_o to_o be_v engage_v in_o a_o bad_a course_n why_o they_o shall_v be_v warn_v to_o break_v it_o off_o present_o and_o without_o delay_n lest_o by_o degree_n they_o be_v harden_v in_o their_o wickedness_n till_o their_o case_n grow_v desperate_a and_o past_a remedy_n and_o to_o this_o purpose_n be_v the_o apostle_n advice_n here_o in_o the_o text_n exhort_v one_o influence_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o the_o care_n of_o his_o protection_n and_o providence_n and_o they_o give_v the_o devil_n who_o be_v not_o apt_a to_o neglect_v his_o advantage_n upon_o they_o great_a opportunity_n every_o day_n to_o gain_v the_o firm_a possession_n of_o they_o and_o thus_o by_o pass_v from_o one_o degree_n of_o sin_n to_o another_o the_o sinner_n become_v harden_v in_o present_a apprehension_n of_o death_n and_o the_o terror_n of_o a_o future_a judgement_n nor_o will_v these_o be_v effectual_a neither_o to_o change_v such_o a_o person_n without_o a_o extraordinary_a degree_n of_o god_n grace_n which_o consider_v the_o greatness_n and_o the_o continuance_n of_o his_o provocation_n he_o have_v very_o little_a reason_n to_o expect_v or_o hope_v god_n shall_v ever_o not_o by_o thy_o most_o earnest_a wish_n and_o desire_n by_o thy_o most_o fervent_a prayer_n and_o tear_n and_o thou_o be_v bring_v into_o the_o condition_n of_o profane_a esau_n who_o for_o once_o despise_v the_o blessing_n lose_v it_o for_o ever_o and_o find_v no_o place_n of_o repentance_n though_o he_o seek_v it_o careful_o with_o tear_n to_o conclude_v be_v thou_o convince_v that_o thy_o eternal_a happiness_n depend_v upon_o follow_v the_o advice_n which_o have_v now_o be_v give_v thou_o why_o then_o do_v but_o behave_v thyself_o in_o this_o case_n as_o thou_o and_o all_o prudent_a opportunity_n be_v go_v and_o another_o snatch_v these_o thing_n from_o he_o do_v thou_o thus_o so_o much_o more_o in_o matter_n so_o much_o great_a return_v
charitable_o and_o lay_v the_o supposition_n quite_o on_o the_o other_o side_n if_o there_o be_v but_o one_o sinner_n in_o the_o world_n or_o but_o one_o of_o a_o hundred_o yet_o we_o shall_v very_o zealous_o intend_v and_o with_o all_o our_o might_n the_o reduction_n of_o this_o one_o lose_v sheep_n and_o shall_v never_o be_v at_o rest_n till_o this_o single_a wander_a soul_n be_v find_v and_o in_o need_n of_o it_o and_o though_o they_o of_o all_o other_o have_v the_o least_o reason_n to_o look_v for_o mercy_n yet_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v refuse_v though_o they_o be_v like_o the_o publican_n and_o heathen_n among_o the_o jew_n who_o be_v not_o only_o repute_v but_o many_o time_n real_o be_v the_o worst_a of_o man_n though_o like_o the_o prodigal_a son_n here_o in_o the_o parable_n they_o have_v run_v away_o from_o their_o father_n and_o waste_v their_o estate_n in_o lewd_a and_o riotous_a course_n yet_o whenever_o they_o come_v to_o themselves_o and_o be_v willing_a to_o return_v to_o their_o father_n to_o acknowledge_v their_o folly_n and_o repent_v of_o it_o he_o be_v ready_a to_o receive_v they_o nay_o much_o more_o ready_a to_o receive_v they_o than_o they_o can_v be_v to_o come_v to_o he_o for_o when_o the_o prodigal_n be_v but_o come_v towards_o his_o father_n and_o be_v yet_o afar_o off_o the_o father_n run_v to_o meet_v he_o and_o embrace_v he_o with_o as_o much_o kindness_n as_o if_o he_o have_v never_o offend_v he_o and_o entertain_v he_o with_o more_o joy_n than_o if_o he_o have_v always_o continue_v with_o he_o how_o do_v the_o great_a god_n condescend_v to_o encourage_v our_o repentance_n represent_v himself_o and_o all_o the_o bless_a company_n of_o heaven_n as_o transport_v with_o joy_n at_o the_o conversion_n of_o a_o sinner_n the_o salvation_n of_o soul_n to_o see_v some_o fruit_n of_o our_o labour_n that_o all_o our_o pain_n be_v not_o lose_v and_o that_o all_o the_o good_a counsel_n that_o be_v from_o hence_o tender_v to_o you_o be_v not_o like_a rain_n fall_v upon_o the_o rock_n and_o shower_n upon_o the_o sand_n but_o i_o have_v much_o great_a consideration_n to_o offer_v to_o you_o that_o your_o repentance_n of_o the_o danger_n of_o their_o course_n and_o convince_v that_o eternal_a misery_n and_o ruin_n will_v be_v the_o end_n of_o it_o and_o yet_o i_o know_v not_o how_o they_o make_v a_o shift_n upon_o one_o pretence_n or_o other_o to_o discourse_n and_o reason_n themselves_o into_o it_o but_o because_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v quick_a and_o powerful_a and_o sharp_a than_o a_o two-edged-sword_n
