possess_v your_o heart_n much_o with_o the_o mercy_n and_o privilege_n of_o suffer_v for_o the_o cause_n truth_n name_n and_o way_n of_o christ_n to_o you_o it_o be_v give_v not_o only_o to_o believe_v but_o to_o suffer_v it_o be_v a_o great_a gift_n a_o suffer_a opportunity_n and_o a_o suffer_a heart_n be_v a_o great_a gift_n from_o god_n be_v it_o not_o a_o great_a mercy_n to_o be_v conformable_a to_o jesus_n christ_n our_o head_n for_o this_o cause_n say_v christ_n come_v i_o into_o the_o world_n that_o i_o may_v bear_v witness_n unto_o the_o truth_n be_v it_o not_o a_o great_a mercy_n to_o be_v confess_v at_o the_o last_o day_n before_o all_o the_o world_n angel_n and_o man_n he_o that_o confess_v i_o before_o man_n say_v christ_n him_n will_v i_o confess_v before_o my_o father_n etc._n etc._n be_v it_o not_o a_o great_a mercy_n to_o live_v and_o reign_v with_o christ_n a_o thousand_o year_n you_o know_v that_o scripture_n i_o shall_v not_o speak_v of_o the_o meaning_n of_o it_o now_o but_o cerain_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o glory_n promise_v there_o live_v and_o reign_v with_o christ_n a_o thousand_o year_n and_o the_o promise_n be_v make_v unto_o those_o that_o do_v acknowledge_v and_o own_o the_o cause_n and_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o jesus_n christ_n possess_v your_o heart_n much_o with_o the_o privilege_n and_o mercy_n of_o bear_v witness_n to_o the_o truth_n the_o cause_n and_o the_o good_a way_n of_o christ_n before_o your_o temptation_n come_v second_o answ_n 2_o if_o you_o will_v bear_v off_o the_o blow_n of_o this_o temptation_n be_v sure_a that_o you_o look_v upon_o both_o side_n of_o your_o suffering_n or_o bear_v witness_n to_o the_o truth_n cause_n or_o way_n of_o christ_n the_o dark_a side_n and_o the_o light_a side_n let_v they_o not_o be_v sunder_v when_o the_o lord_n call_v for_o any_o of_o his_o people_n to_o suffer_v at_o any_o time_n for_o he_o he_o do_v give_v they_o more_o strength_n than_o before_o and_o he_o do_v give_v they_o more_o comfort_n and_o consolation_n than_o they_o have_v before_o now_o satan_n come_v and_o hold_v forth_o the_o suffering_n he_o make_v mention_n of_o the_o suffering_n but_o he_o hide_v the_o strength_n and_o the_o consolation_n either_o satan_n hold_v forth_o the_o suffer_v alone_o or_o else_o if_o he_o do_v mention_v any_o strength_n or_o comfort_n that_o a_o gracious_a soul_n shall_v have_v in_o the_o suffering_n it_o be_v but_o the_o same_o strength_n that_o he_o have_v now_o he_o do_v speak_v of_o the_o strength_n he_o shall_v have_v then_o and_o the_o great_a consolation_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v then_o when_o the_o suffering_n come_v and_o so_o these_o be_v part_v the_o suffer_a and_o the_o consolation_n be_v part_v now_o our_o faith_n fail_v when_o ever_o therefore_o this_o temptation_n do_v come_v upon_o you_o answer_v thus_o satan_n here_o thou_o bring_v the_o suffering_n before_o i_o and_o cause_v that_o to_o come_v before_o i_o but_o thou_o do_v not_o tell_v i_o of_o the_o strength_n i_o shall_v have_v and_o of_o the_o consolation_n i_o shall_v receive_v satan_n i_o shall_v not_o have_v the_o strength_n i_o have_v now_o nor_o the_o consolation_n i_o have_v now_o but_o i_o shall_v have_v more_o strength_n then_o when_o the_o suffering_n come_v and_o i_o shall_v have_v more_o consolation_n when_o as_o the_o affliction_n come_v than_o i_o have_v before_o keep_v these_o together_o do_v look_v only_a upon_o the_o one_o side_n of_o your_o suffering_n and_o witness-bearing_a but_o look_v upon_o both_o side_n together_o and_o thus_o you_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o stand_v and_o ride_v out_o the_o storm_n of_o this_o temptation_n but_o you_o will_v say_v quest_n we_o have_v hear_v of_o the_o several_a blow_n that_o satan_n give_v unto_o our_o faith_n unto_o the_o faith_n of_o reliance_n unto_o the_o faith_n of_o assurance_n and_o unto_o the_o faith_n of_o acknowledgement_n how_o he_o labour_v to_o weaken_v all_o these_o our_o faith_n and_o how_o we_o shall_v bear_v off_o all_o these_o blow_n but_o there_o may_v be_v yet_o some_o temptation_n possible_o that_o do_v not_o fall_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o these_o temptation_n these_o direction_n be_v point_v against_o these_o particular_a temptation_n but_o i_o have_v other_o temptation_n that_o do_v fall_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o these_o whereby_o satan_n labour_v to_o weaken_v my_o faith_n and_o to_o make_v my_o faith_n to_o fail_v what_o general_a rule_n and_o direction_n may_v be_v give_v by_o which_o a_o man_n shall_v so_o walk_v as_o that_o satan_n may_v not_o make_v his_o faith_n to_o fail_v in_o the_o time_n of_o his_o temptation_n first_n answ_n 1_o before_o your_o temptation_n come_v while_o you_o be_v upon_o even_a ground_n study_v and_o look_v much_o into_o the_o scripture_n and_o into_o every_o corner_n and_o nook_n thereof_o as_o i_o may_v so_o speak_v lay_v and_o treasure_v up_o promise_n and_o word_n suitable_a to_o every_o condition_n let_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n dwell_v in_o you_o rich_o that_o so_o when_o a_o temptation_n come_v you_o may_v have_v a_o word_n suitable_a at_o hand_n and_o this_o will_v help_v you_o to_o bear_v off_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o temptation_n when_o it_o come_v second_o answ_n 2_o either_o a_o particular_a word_n and_o promise_n do_v come_v unt_n you_o his_o left_a hand_n be_v under_o our_o head_n then_o as_o when_o a_o man_n be_v enlarge_v in_o heart_n it_o be_v good_a to_o consider_v of_o christ_n example_n that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v humble_v under_o his_o enlargement_n so_o when_o a_o man_n be_v in_o desertion_n or_o temptation_n it_o be_v good_a for_o to_o think_v of_o christ_n infirmity_n that_o so_o he_o may_v not_o be_v overwhelm_v or_o cast_v down_o too_o much_o four_o if_o temptation_n do_v come_v be_v sure_a of_o this_o answ_n 4_o that_o you_o do_v conclude_v it_o be_v no_o temptation_n satan_n tempt_v and_o then_o he_o i_o not_o be_v content_v and_o quiet_a under_o all_o my_o temptation_n though_o they_o be_v never_o so_o great_a christ_n pray_v for_o i_o christ_n love_n be_v most_o at_o work_n now_o i_o be_o most_o assault_v his_o bowel_n then_o yern_v towards_o i_o yea_o if_o i_o be_v godly_a why_o shall_v i_o not_o with_o paul_n triumph_n over_o all_o temptation_n and_o make_v my_o boast_n of_o christ_n and_o you_o be_v most_o assault_v and_o tempt_v by_o satan_n ah_o what_o grace_n and_o heart-warming_a love_n be_v here_o if_o i_o be_v godly_a again_o upon_o this_o account_n why_o shall_v i_o give_v over_o so_o soon_o and_o lay_v down_o my_o weapon_n in_o time_n of_o temptation_n if_o a_o city_n be_v beleaguer_v besiege_v and_o know_v that_o help_n will_v come_v they_o will_v not_o give_v over_o
