these_o canon_n it_o appear_v plain_o that_o transubstantiation_n be_v reprove_v and_o condemn_v and_o so_o by_o cosequence_n the_o local_a worship_v of_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o bread_n and_o wine_n but_o before_o i_o pass_v out_o of_o this_o matter_n i_o will_v allege_v one_o text_n of_o s._n augustine_n 10.16_o which_o be_v so_o clear_a and_o fit_v to_o confute_v this_o transubstantiation_n as_o be_v possible_a for_o first_o of_o all_o that_o man_n may_v learn_v to_o know_v what_o manner_n of_o speech_n in_o the_o scripture_n be_v to_o be_v take_v figurative_o and_o what_o be_v to_o be_v take_v according_a to_o the_o letter_n he_o set_v down_o this_o rule_n which_o be_v a_o very_a notable_a one_o if_o there_o be_v any_o thing_n say_v he_o so_o speak_v in_o god_n word_n as_o that_o it_o can_v not_o proper_o agree_v with_o the_o comeliness_n of_o good_a manner_n speech_n nor_o with_o the_o truth_n of_o faith_n you_o must_v take_v the_o same_o to_o be_v figurative_o speak_v afterwards_o to_o make_v this_o rule_n plain_a by_o example_n he_o say_v these_o very_a word_n if_o then_o the_o manner_n of_o speak_v be_v a_o precept_n so_o as_o it_o forbid_v any_o crime_n and_o misbehaviour_n or_o command_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a and_o behoove_v full_a such_o manner_n of_o speak_v be_v not_o figurative_a but_o if_o it_o seem_v to_o command_v a_o evil_a fact_n or_o to_o forbid_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a and_o behooveful_a then_o be_v it_o speak_v figurative_o unless_o you_o eat_v the_o flesh_n of_o the_o son_n of_o man_n say_v our_o lord_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n you_o shall_v have_v no_o life_n in_o you_o by_o this_o manner_n of_o speak_v he_o seem_v to_o command_v a_o cruelty_n and_o a_o evil_a fact_n in_o eat_v of_o his_o flesh_n and_o drink_n of_o his_o blood_n therefore_o it_o be_v a_o figure_n whereby_o we_o be_v command_v to_o become_v partaker_n of_o the_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n and_o to_o imprint_v gentle_o and_o profitable_o in_o our_o memory_n that_o his_o flesh_n be_v mangle_v and_o crucify_v for_o us._n the_o scripture_n say_v likewise_o if_o thine_o enemy_n hunger_n feed_v that_o he_o repent_v himself_o to_o have_v be_v a_o enemy_n to_o such_o a_o one_o as_o relieve_v his_o misery_n and_o necessity_n also_o it_o be_v write_v who_o so_o love_v his_o soul_n shall_v lose_v not_o the_o sinner_n the_o latter_a
