either_o of_o reason_n or_o of_o any_o author_n and_o thus_o much_o of_o the_o abuse_n forsooth_o of_o repentance_n in_o general_n now_o to_o the_o particular_a about_o contrition_n confession_n and_o satisfaction_n the_o first_o abuse_n concern_v contrition_n be_v that_o the_o catholic_n teach_v that_o it_o must_v be_v sufficient_a and_o perfect_a they_o use_v to_o help_v the_o matter_n by_o a_o distinction_n etc._n etc._n o_o remarkable_a abuse_n that_o catholic_n will_v have_v contrition_n to_o be_v sufficient_a and_o perfect_a if_o we_o will_v have_v have_v it_o imperfect_a and_o not_o fit_a to_o serve_v the_o turn_n then_o lo_o we_o have_v hit_v the_o nail_n on_o the_o head_n what_o dotage_n be_v this_o we_o say_v brief_o concern_v sorrow_n for_o our_o sin_n past_a first_o that_o it_o ought_v to_o be_v the_o great_a that_o we_o can_v have_v for_o nothing_o be_v worthy_a to_o be_v so_o vehement_o lament_v as_o that_o we_o have_v deadly_o offend_v our_o creator_n and_o redeemer_n and_o be_v fall_v from_o his_o grace_n into_o the_o slavery_n of_o our_o most_o deadly_a enemy_n the_o devil_n so_o that_o for_o this_o as_o for_o the_o great_a evil_n that_o can_v be_v fall_v we_o we_o be_v to_o be_v most_o sorrowful_a and_o this_o high_a degree_n of_o sorrow_n be_v requisite_a in_o contrition_n when_o thereby_o alone_o we_o do_v recover_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n but_o when_o contrition_n be_v join_v with_o confession_n and_o be_v make_v a_o part_n of_o the_o sacrament_n then_o lo_o though_o it_o be_v not_o so_o great_a before_o as_o be_v otherwise_o requisite_a it_o receive_v by_o virtue_n of_o participate_v with_o christ_n grace_n in_o that_o sacrament_n the_o full_a measure_n of_o sorrow_n and_o so_o be_v make_v up_o sufficient_a and_o perfect_a which_o m._n per_n call_v the_o first_o abuse_n of_o contrition_n but_o go_v not_o about_o to_o disprove_v it_o the_o second_o as_o he_o say_v be_v that_o we_o ascribe_v to_o contrition_n the_o merit_n of_o congruity_n before_o he_o stick_v not_o to_o say_v that_o we_o make_v repentance_n the_o meritorious_a cause_n of_o remission_n of_o sin_n which_o be_v a_o loud_a lie_n because_o we_o teach_v that_o no_o man_n can_v merit_v remission_n of_o his_o sin_n for_o no_o man_n can_v merit_v aught_o at_o god_n hand_n unless_o he_o first_o be_v in_o his_o grace_n and_o favour_n which_o no_o sinner_n be_v wherefore_o we_o hold_v only_o that_o repentance_n as_o faith_n hope_n and_o a_o purpose_n of_o amendment_n be_v only_o good_a disposition_n make_v the_o man_n fit_a and_o apt_a kind_n of_o the_o sin_n as_o far_o as_o they_o can_v remember_v once_o every_o year_n at_o the_o least_o and_o that_o to_o a_o priest_n unless_o it_o be_v in_o the_o case_n of_o extreme_a necessity_n but_o in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n there_o be_v no_o warrant_n for_o this_o confession_n nor_o in_o the_o write_n of_o orthodox_n antiquity_n for_o the_o space_n of_o many_o hundred_o year_n after_o christ_n as_o one_o of_o their_o own_o side_n avouch_v and_o he_o quote_v in_o the_o margin_n a_o man_n of_o small_a credit_n among_o we_o beatus_fw-la rhenanus_fw-la for_o his_o author_n well_o let_v
