thing_n for_o we_o then_o the_o blood_n of_o abel_n it_o call_v continual_o for_o mercy_n for_o we_o though_o our_o sin_n be_v great_a and_o grievous_a as_o red_a as_o scarlet_a deep_o dye_v by_o our_o continuance_n in_o they_o or_o by_o our_o relapse_v or_o by_o our_o much_o hardness_n of_o heart_n against_o god_n warning_n yet_o dive_v thou_o deep_a into_o the_o fountain_n of_o christ_n word_n use_v again_o of_o the_o renew_n of_o our_o communion_n this_o be_v my_o body_n that_o be_v break_v for_o thou_o etc._n etc._n this_o be_v my_o blood_n that_o be_v shed_v for_o thou_o etc._n they_o have_v practice_n and_o experience_n of_o this_o to_o see_v that_o at_o the_o lord_n table_n we_o be_v hand-fasted_n unto_o christ_n than_o god_n will_v give_v we_o much_o joy_n and_o comfort_n another_o matter_n of_o instruction_n be_v this_o that_o when_o we_o be_v at_o the_o lord_n table_n there_o be_v a_o near_a bond_n now_o between_o christ_n and_o we_o then_o there_o be_v before_o here_o be_v a_o near_a bond_n at_o least_o we_o be_v more_o near_a seal_v and_o tie_v to_o christ_n and_o he_o to_o we_o than_o before_o and_o why_o because_o it_o be_v the_o communion_n of_o the_o worship_v the_o devil_n which_o be_v not_o a_o corporal_a substance_n that_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o testification_n that_o they_o will_v serve_v he_o worship_n and_o obey_v he_o so_o our_o to_o we_o and_o then_o we_o scorn_v the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n the_o great_a riches_n and_o high_a promotion_n and_o the_o beautiful_a thing_n we_o account_v they_o as_o dung_n of_o the_o earth_n again_o when_o we_o consider_v christ_n crucify_v there_o we_o behold_v how_o patient_a we_o shall_v be_v in_o affliction_n even_o to_o the_o death_n there_o be_v the_o picture_n of_o our_o whole_a life_n which_o must_v be_v a_o continual_a course_n of_o mortification_n and_o there_o be_v the_o season_n of_o our_o death_n look_v thorough_o upon_o christ_n crucify_v it_o be_v that_o of_o this_o benefit_n remission_n of_o sin_n by_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n this_o be_v my_o blood_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n which_o be_v shed_v for_o many_o etc._n etc._n here_o be_v no_o particular_a description_n of_o the_o person_n by_o their_o place_n quality_n degree_n nation_n state_n or_o any_o such_o matter_n of_o special_a note_n but_o only_o in_o a_o generallitie_n by_o their_o number_n many_o if_o we_o confider_v it_o well_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o it_o carry_v the_o force_n and_o intendment_n of_o a_o double_a exception_n the_o first_o be_v of_o restraint_n not_o all_o but_o many_o the_o second_o be_v of_o enlargement_n not_o few_o but_o many_o first_o of_o the_o exception_n of_o restraint_n many_o
by_o his_o ordinance_n to_o be_v receive_v by_o faith_n he_o give_v it_o by_o his_o ordinance_n whole_o and_o therefore_o we_o receive_v christ_n whole_o in_o his_o word_n and_o so_o he_o be_v our_o sin_n when_o the_o soul_n receive_v assurance_n that_o sin_n be_v pardon_v the_o wine_n can_v so_o comfort_v the_o heart_n natural_o but_o the_o assurance_n of_o god_n love_n in_o christ_n that_o sin_n be_v forgive_v do_v comfort_v our_o heart_n spiritual_o a_o great_a dealemore_n how_o sweet_a be_v matter_n of_o justification_n as_o wine_n refresh_v the_o heart_n so_o the_o assurance_n of_o the_o pardon_n of_o sin_n comfort_v the_o soul_n here_o be_v also_o bread_n which_o strengthen_v the_o heart_n what_o great_a strength_n be_v there_o then_o that_o when_o the_o heart_n be_v strengthen_v by_o grace_n when_o we_o be_v settle_v in_o a_o steadfast_a purpose_n to_o lead_v a_o godly_a life_n when_o he_o establish_v we_o with_o his_o free_a spirit_n the_o bread_n do_v not_o so_o much_o strengthen_v our_o natural_a life_n as_o the_o blessing_n we_o receive_v in_o this_o sacrament_n the_o sanctify_a grace_n of_o god_n our_o spiritual_a life_n in_o the_o way_n of_o godliness_n these_o thing_n we_o must_v raise_v up_o our_o mind_n unto_o we_o must_v not_o think_v that_o these_o element_n be_v idle_a sign_n but_o powerful_a to_o seal_v many_o excellent_a thing_n unto_o we_o if_o we_o have_v heart_n to_o discern_v such_o excellency_n as_o the_o lord_n therein_o have_v treasure_v up_o for_o us._n let_v we_o discern_v in_o these_o element_n matter_n of_o our_o justification_n and_o sanctification_n matter_n of_o excellent_a comfort_n and_o strength_n the_o true_a comfort_n and_o strength_n of_o god_n against_o our_o sin_n and_o against_o the_o temptation_n of_o satan_n here_o be_v wine_n to_o comfort_v our_o heart_n but_o god_n to_o comfort_v our_o soul_n much_o more_o here_o be_v bread_n to_o strengthen_v we_o but_o the_o bread_n of_o god_n to_o strengthen_v we_o much_o more_o the_o grace_n of_o justification_n to_o comfort_v we_o against_o sin_n already_o commit_v the_o grace_n of_o sanctification_n to_o strengthen_v we_o against_o sin_n rage_v in_o our_o mortal_a body_n so_o then_o we_o must_v consider_v with_o ourselves_o these_o thing_n we_o must_v be_v raise_v up_o and_o prepare_v ourselves_o to_o be_v quicken_v according_o that_o we_o may_v comfortable_o receive_v the_o thing_n deliver_v in_o this_o sacrament_n of_o the_o supper_n the_o thing_n also_o shadow_v in_o these_o element_n use_v 3_o another_o use_v of_o the_o point_n be_v this_o it_o teach_v we_o that_o our_o justification_n and_o sanctification_n be_v both_o certain_o to_o be_v believe_v that_o be_v to_o say_v we_o must_v be_v persuade_v of_o they_o that_o they_o be_v certain_a thing_n and_o shall_v be_v perform_v to_o we_o they_o be_v not_o only_o certain_a in_o themselves_o but_o to_o we_o for_o thus_o much_o the_o sacrament_n intend_v for_o see_v it_o tender_v unto_o we_o the_o whole_a covenant_n of_o grace_n see_v it_o reach_v and_o give_v unto_o we_o possession_n of_o these_o thing_n as_o if_o god_n shall_v say_v here_o be_v christ_n take_v he_o here_o be_v justification_n and_o sanctification_n take_v they_o they_o be_v thou_o these_o thing_n i_o say_v be_v thus_o tender_v unto_o we_o herein_o if_o therefore_o we_o bring_v paith_n we_o shall_v receive_v they_o we_o may_v assure_o be_v resolve_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v make_v good_a unto_o us._n the_o want_n of_o this_o assurance_n make_v many_o wound_n in_o our_o spiritual_a life_n the_o want_n of_o assurance_n of_o our_o justification_n put_v we_o to_o many_o fear_n and_o much_o distrustfulness_n and_o the_o want_n of_o the_o assurance_n of_o sanctification_n or_o because_o we_o believe_v not_o that_o god_n will_v sanctify_v we_o which_o shall_v hold_v we_o against_o temptation_n against_o satan_n malice_n and_o the_o wickedness_n of_o the_o world_n and_o our_o own_o corruption_n it_o make_v we_o find_v many_o fayling_n in_o ourselves_o whereas_o if_o we_o will_v believe_v god_n upon_o his_o word_n and_o upon_o his_o pawn_n that_o he_o give_v we_o in_o this_o sacrament_n it_o will_v persuade_v we_o sufficient_o that_o these_o thing_n shall_v certain_o be_v perform_v unto_o we_o the_o want_n i_o say_v of_o this_o assurance_n cause_v many_o fayling_n in_o our_o state_n both_o of_o faith_n and_o
shall_v we_o love_v the_o glorious_a lord_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n see_v the_o lord_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n have_v so_o love_v we_o as_o to_o die_v for_o we_o also_o it_o teach_v we_o patience_n see_v christ_n the_o lord_n have_v dye_v for_o we_o therefore_o we_o must_v not_o think_v much_o to_o suffer_v temptation_n and_o affliction_n yea_o death_n itself_o christ_n the_o lord_n have_v go_v through_o these_o before_o and_o therefore_o no_o doubt_n but_o he_o will_v bring_v we_o through_o the_o like_a with_o joy_n and_o with_o comfort_n christ_n the_o lord_n have_v dye_v for_o we_o this_o will_v breed_v and_o work_v faith_n and_o boldness_n in_o we_o we_o may_v be_v bold_a to_o hazard_v our_o soul_n upon_o christ_n know_v that_o our_o salvation_n be_v sure_a and_o firm_a for_o we_o again_o it_o minister_v matter_n of_o rejoice_v that_o we_o do_v not_o only_o believe_v in_o christ_n crucify_v but_o we_o rejoice_v in_o christ_n crucify_v gal._n 6.14_o god_n forbid_v that_o i_o shall_v rejoice_v but_o in_o the_o cross_n unto_o i_o and_o i_o unto_o the_o world_n this_o cross_n i_o oppose_v against_o all_o my_o fear_n affliction_n and_o temptation_n and_o persecution_n against_o all_o that_o ever_o can_v come_v i_o be_o crucify_v to_o the_o world_n and_o the_o world_n to_o i_o because_o the_o lord_n have_v dye_v for_o i_o last_o this_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o excellent_a comfort_n to_o god_n child_n for_o hereby_o we_o may_v discern_v the_o infinite_a worthiness_n of_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o infinite_a preciousness_n of_o his_o death_n why_o be_v the_o death_n of_o christ_n so_o precious_a why_o because_o it_o be_v the_o death_n of_o christ_n the_o lord_n not_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v man_n but_o of_o christ_n the_o lord_n of_o life_n and_o glory_n when_o we_o consider_v that_o so_o many_o thousand_o shall_v be_v save_v we_o think_v with_o ourselves_o how_o shall_v these_o be_v save_v why_o to_o procure_v mercy_n and_o grace_n and_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n to_o all_o those_o that_o have_v a_o true_a faith_n and_o do_v earnest_o endeavour_v and_o desire_v to_o be_v conformable_a to_o this_o death_n of_o christ_n the_o end_n of_o the_o sixteenth_o lecture_n the_o seventeen_o lecture_n upon_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n now_o we_o be_v to_o proceed_v as_o god_n shall_v enable_v we_o in_o the_o handle_n of_o the_o 26._o verse_n of_o the_o 11._o chapter_n of_o the_o first_o epistle_n to_o the_o corinthian_n because_o this_o afternoon_n exercise_n we_o must_v spend_v in_o the_o matter_n of_o preparation_n against_o the_o next_o sabbath_n for_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n 1_o cor._n 11.26_o for_o as_o often_o as_o you_o shall_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v we_o divide_v this_o scripture_n as_o you_o may_v remember_v into_o these_o two_o part_n first_o a_o action_n to_o be_v perform_v in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n namely_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n set_v forth_o here_o by_o the_o name_n of_o eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup._n second_o the_o caution_n that_o this_o action_n be_v to_o be_v perform_v withal_o that_o we_o have_v in_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v in_o this_o caution_n in_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n we_o observe_v the_o caution_n itself_o namely_o to_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n second_o the_o often_o use_v or_o the_o often_o observe_v of_o this_o caution_n for_o though_o that_o be_v not_o here_o express_v yet_o it_o be_v to_o be_v supply_v out_o of_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n and_o be_v in_o common_a understanding_n to_o be_v read_v thus_o as_o often_o as_o you_o shall_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n so_o often_o you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v three_o and_o last_o here_o be_v the_o continuance_n of_o it_o how_o long_o this_o be_v to_o continue_v why_o till_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n till_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n till_o the_o come_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v in_o the_o caution_n first_o we_o observe_v the_o matter_n that_o be_v to_o be_v remember_v that_o be_v the_o lord_n death_n then_o second_o we_o tell_v you_o here_o we_o must_v consider_v of_o the_o manner_n of_o the_o remember_n of_o it_o how_o must_v it_o be_v remember_v by_o a_o show_v forth_o by_o a_o lively_a and_o a_o kind_n of_o sensible_a express_v of_o it_o you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v concern_v the_o matter_n to_o be_v remember_v namely_o the_o lord_n death_n there_o we_o show_v you_o first_o what_o be_v mean_v by_o the_o death_n of_o the_o lord_n namely_o both_o the_o act_n of_o his_o death_n in_o respect_n of_o himself_o and_o likewise_o the_o benefit_n of_o his_o death_n in_o respect_n of_o we_o for_o that_o also_o must_v be_v remember_v in_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o sacrament_n then_o when_o as_o it_o be_v say_v here_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n death_n i_o show_v you_o that_o howsoever_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v lord_n can_v not_o die_v yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o death_n that_o christ_n do_v suffer_v be_v right_o call_v the_o death_n of_o the_o lord_n because_o christ_n be_v man_n be_v also_o god_n and_o lord_n yet_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o union_n of_o both_o these_o nature_n in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o person_n therefore_o that_o which_o be_v proper_a to_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v man_n be_v right_o affirm_v of_o he_o as_o be_v god_n and_o lord_n and_o thence_o we_o draw_v this_o observation_n in_o that_o it_o be_v here_o call_v the_o lord_n death_n namely_o that_o howsoever_o christ_n jesus_n be_v cruel_o and_o shameful_o crucify_v and_o put_v to_o a_o most_o cruel_a and_o ignominious_a death_n upon_o the_o cross_n as_o ever_o any_o man_n can_v be_v put_v unto_o yet_o notwithstanding_o even_o in_o that_o state_n of_o his_o death_n he_o be_v the_o lord_n and_o show_v himself_o to_o be_v the_o glorious_a lord_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n it_o follow_v now_o that_o we_o be_v to_o go_v on_o we_o have_v speak_v hitherto_o touch_v the_o lord_n death_n as_o it_o be_v consider_v absolute_o in_o itself_o we_o be_v yet_o further_o to_o speak_v of_o the_o lord_n death_n by_o way_n of_o application_n or_o by_o way_n of_o reference_n of_o it_o to_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n for_o so_o you_o see_v here_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o it_o respective_o unto_o this_o supper_n as_o often_o as_o you_o shall_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n you_o show_v forth_o the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v where_o by_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o look_v what_o the_o apostle_n speak_v here_o concern_v the_o lord_n death_n the_o same_o be_v confine_v expressety_n to_o the_o reference_n of_o the_o lord_n death_n to_o the_o lord_n supper_n we_o must_v always_o remember_v the_o death_n of_o the_o lord_n christ_n jesus_n every_o one_o of_o we_o that_o look_v to_o have_v any_o part_n or_o to_o have_v any_o benefit_n by_o it_o must_v remember_v it_o at_o all_o time_n but_o yet_o when_o as_o we_o come_v to_o communicate_v in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n than_o there_o be_v require_v of_o we_o a_o more_o special_a meditation_n thereof_o than_o general_o at_o other_o time_n again_o even_o in_o the_o participation_n of_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n we_o must_v meditate_v upon_o whole_a christ_n christ_n bear_v christ_n live_v christ_n die_v christ_n bury_v christ_n rise_v again_o for_o christ_n be_v give_v whole_o for_o we_o upon_o the_o cross_n and_o christ_n be_v give_v whole_o unto_o we_o in_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o therefore_o there_o we_o must_v receive_v christ_n whole_o and_o meditate_v upon_o whole_a christ_n i_o but_o yet_o in_o this_o case_n when_o we_o come_v to_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n than_o we_o must_v more_o meditate_v and_o our_o heart_n and_o our_o mind_n must_v more_o run_v upon_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n than_o upon_o any_o thing_n else_o that_o ever_o christ_n do_v or_o suffer_v for_o we_o it_o great_a mercy_n of_o god_n and_o so_o esteem_v of_o it_o yet_o there_o be_v none_o of_o god_n child_n that_o know_v their_o own_o weakness_n and_o infirmity_n how_o subject_a they_o be_v to_o unbelief_n and_o to_o start_v aside_o from_o god_n if_o they_o consider_v how_o powerful_a the_o sacrament_n be_v for_o the_o raise_n up_o of_o faith_n in_o they_o though_o not_o for_o the_o beget_n of_o faith_n in_o we_o we_o can_v choose_v but_o acknowledge_v this_o a_o singular_a mercy_n and_o love_n of_o god_n to_o we_o in_o christ_n jesus_n we_o know_v we_o sin_v daily_o and_o by_o every_o in_o this_o union_n because_o we_o be_v convert_v unto_o god_n and_o so_o this_o communion_n be_v make_v between_o christ_n
unregenerate_a have_v no_o interest_n in_o the_o covenant_n and_o therefore_o no_o part_n in_o this_o business_n last_o it_o reprove_v pharisaical_a and_o justitiarie_n receiver_n that_o stand_v upon_o their_o own_o righteousness_n this_o be_v a_o sacrament_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n the_o new_a testament_n be_v the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n free_a pardon_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n through_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n whosoever_o then_o stand_v upon_o their_o own_o righteousness_n and_o think_v to_o be_v save_v by_o the_o least_o measure_n part_n or_o contribution_n of_o their_o own_o work_n or_o merit_n have_v no_o part_n in_o the_o new_a testament_n and_o so_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o this_o sacrament_n this_o be_v only_o for_o such_o as_o have_v their_o and_o that_o act_n but_o of_o all_o that_o ever_o i_o have_v do_v and_o suffer_v for_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o your_o redemption_n in_o remembrance_n of_o whole_a christ_n as_o a_o man_n will_v last_o place_n touch_v the_o person_n here_o mention_v so_o far_o as_o they_o have_v their_o interest_n in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n so_o as_o the_o thing_n themselves_o that_o be_v here_o speak_v be_v intend_v in_o a_o double_a sense_n first_o absolute_o to_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n itself_o second_o respective_o to_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n so_o the_o person_n that_o be_v here_o speak_v of_o be_v to_o be_v consider_v answerable_o in_o both_o these_o sense_n first_o as_o they_o have_v their_o interest_n and_o part_n in_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n and_o second_o as_o they_o have_v their_o part_n and_o interest_n in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n we_o have_v speak_v of_o the_o person_n in_o the_o first_o sense_n behalf_n and_o say_v we_o have_v a_o little_a sister_n and_o she_o have_v no_o teat_n her_o teat_n be_v once_o full_a of_o milk_n of_o god_n word_n and_o comfort_n but_o now_o they_o be_v altogether_o may_v become_v one_o flock_n and_o be_v bring_v into_o one_o sheepfold_n under_o one_o shepherd_n jesus_n christ_n consider_v three_o that_o we_o live_v upon_o their_o loss_n and_o be_v raise_v up_o upon_o their_o spoil_n if_o a_o man_n beg_v of_o the_o king_n the_o good_n and_o land_n of_o another_o man_n that_o be_v condemn_v if_o he_o have_v any_o grace_n or_o good_a nature_n in_o he_o he_o will_v have_v care_n of_o that_o man_n seed_n and_o posterity_n to_o relieve_v they_o as_o much_o as_o in_o he_o lie_v we_o be_v build_v up_o by_o the_o ruin_n of_o the_o jew_n and_o therefore_o what_o great_a cause_n have_v we_o to_o pity_v their_o seed_n and_o posterity_n and_o to_o pray_v to_o god_n that_o he_o will_v call_v they_o home_o again_o and_o make_v they_o once_o again_o his_o own_o people_n consider_v fourthly_a that_o their_o call_n be_v the_o only_a sign_n not_o yet_o fulfil_v of_o christ_n come_v to_o judgement_n a_o thing_n which_o concern_v we_o all_o to_o groan_n and_o to_o pray_v for_o that_o it_o may_v be_v speedy_o accomplish_v and_o consequent_o that_o they_o may_v be_v speedy_o call_v and_o we_o must_v not_o pray_v for_o they_o only_o but_o we_o must_v labour_v to_o provoke_v they_o too_o how_o be_v that_o by_o our_o holiness_n of_o life_n and_o upright_o conversation_n we_o shall_v shine_v as_o light_n unto_o they_o in_o all_o good_a work_n that_o by_o our_o good_a example_n we_o may_v draw_v they_o to_o god_n and_o to_o take_v hold_n on_o god_n save_v ordinance_n as_o well_o as_o we_o and_o sure_o if_o the_o life_n of_o christian_n be_v such_o as_o they_o may_v and_o ought_v to_o be_v who_o know_v but_o that_o they_o may_v have_v be_v win_v long_o ere_o this_o we_o trade_n and_o traffic_v with_o they_o in_o many_o place_n and_o they_o care_v not_o to_o deceive_v we_o and_o we_o care_v as_o little_a to_o deceive_v they_o they_o take_v hold_v of_o this_o and_o other_o such_o great_a scandal_n and_o that_o be_v one_o great_a cause_n of_o the_o continuance_n of_o their_o hardness_n god_n intend_v this_o our_o provocation_n of_o they_o by_o give_v we_o the_o gospel_n for_o this_o be_v that_o provocation_n which_o the_o apostle_n so_o much_o urge_v rom._n 11._o when_o the_o father_n offer_v a_o piece_n of_o bread_n to_o his_o child_n if_o the_o child_n be_v sullen_a and_o refuse_v it_o the_o father_n will_v offer_v it_o to_o a_o dog_n and_o the_o child_n see_v that_o will_v catch_v at_o it_o he_o will_v have_v it_o himself_o rather_o then_o the_o dog_n shall_v have_v it_o when_o our_o saviour_n say_v it_o be_v not_o meet_v to_o take_v the_o child_n bread_n and_o cast_v it_o unto_o dog_n be_v it_o not_o a_o plain_a intimation_n that_o save_v grace_n be_v as_o bread_n the_o jew_n the_o child_n and_o the_o gentile_n dog_n god_n offer_v this_o save_a grace_n to_o the_o jew_n they_o like_v sullen_a child_n refuse_v this_o bread_n god_n give_v it_o to_o we_o be_v gentile_n and_o as_o it_o be_v dog_n that_o the_o child_n or_o jew_n see_v this_o may_v catch_v at_o it_o as_o be_v their_o own_o portion_n that_o the_o dog_n may_v not_o have_v it_o from_o they_o use_v 5_o five_o this_o teach_v we_o that_o there_o be_v many_o that_o shall_v be_v save_v but_o you_o will_v say_v how_o be_v it_o say_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v but_o a_o few_o save_v answer_v there_o be_v but_o few_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o whole_a world_n haply_o not_o one_o to_o a_o thousand_o yet_o be_v consider_v in_o themselves_o they_o be_v a_o great_a number_n and_o indeed_o infinite_a as_o revel_v 7.9_o a_o great_a multitude_n that_o no_o man_n can_v number_v of_o all_o nation_n and_o kindred_n and_o people_n of_o the_o world_n but_o you_o will_v say_v be_v it_o so_o render_v that_o who_o will_n may_v have_v it_o we_o answer_v it_o be_v tender_v that_o whosoever_o believe_v it_o shall_v enjoy_v it_o but_o to_o believe_v be_v not_o in_o a_o man_n be_v own_o will_n and_o power_n none_o believe_v but_o those_o that_o god_n bestow_v this_o grace_n of_o faith_n upon_o and_o therefore_o that_o conceit_n of_o universal_a grace_n which_o intend_v not_o only_o a_o proffer_n on_o god_n part_n but_o also_o power_n enough_o on_o man_n part_n to_o apprehend_v it_o if_o he_o will_v himself_o be_v a_o peevish_a dream_n last_o this_o teach_v we_o concern_v this_o sacrament_n that_o we_o be_v to_o be_v prepare_v unto_o and_o that_o our_o saviour_n speak_v of_o in_o these_o very_a word_n that_o whosoever_o we_o be_v be_v we_o wise_a or_o simple_a be_v we_o bond_n or_o free_a we_o must_v come_v to_o be_v partaker_n of_o this_o sacrament_n the_o seal_n of_o this_o save_a grace_n let_v we_o bring_v faith_n with_o we_o to_o apprehend_v it_o and_o believe_v it_o and_o then_o come_v and_o welcome_a there_o be_v no_o outward_a respect_n of_o our_o nation_n or_o condition_n whatsoever_o it_o be_v that_o debar_v we_o from_o it_o but_o be_v sure_a that_o thou_o have_v faith_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n else_o thou_o be_v none_o of_o the_o many_o here_o speak_v of_o thou_o shall_v not_o obtain_v this_o benefit_n of_o the_o remission_n of_o thy_o sin_n let_v we_o therefore_o every_o one_o examine_v ourselves_o whether_o we_o have_v this_o grace_n of_o faith_n or_o no_o if_o we_o have_v it_o we_o may_v and_o must_v come_v to_o this_o sacrament_n to_o have_v it_o further_o confirm_v within_o we_o yea_o if_o our_o faith_n be_v but_o weak_a and_o that_o we_o have_v but_o some_o beginning_n of_o faith_n let_v we_o not_o be_v afraid_a if_o it_o be_v true_a and_o from_o the_o heart_n
