indeed_o a_o hard_a matter_n when_o we_o be_v afflict_v in_o patience_n to_o possess_v our_o soul_n but_o we_o shall_v consider_v not_o so_o much_o what_o we_o feel_v as_o what_o we_o deserve_v any_o hope_n and_o sink_a foundation_n 7._o to_o live_v by_o faith_n faith_n take_v the_o soul_n off_o from_o creature-confidence_n and_o teach_v it_o to_o stay_v itself_o on_o god_n alone_o the_o right_a course_n to_o obtain_v mercy_n from_o god_n be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o a_o humble_a trust_n when_o we_o see_v and_o apprehend_v our_o own_o insufficiency_n and_o god_n all-sufficiency_n and_o cast_v ourselves_o on_o his_o wisdom_n power_n and_o goodness_n than_o he_o usual_o afford_v help_v and_o succour_v to_o we_o 8._o to_o prize_v communion_n with_o god_n more_o and_o to_o be_v more_o heavenly_a mind_v in_o the_o glare_a of_o prosperity_n we_o be_v too_o apt_a to_o forget_v god_n and_o to_o content_v ourselves_o with_o creature-enjoyment_n but_o in_o the_o night_n of_o adversity_n and_o in_o sad_a dispensation_n oh_o how_o delightful_a be_v a_o beam_n of_o his_o love_n and_o favour_n 9_o to_o be_v more_o humble_a by_o affliction_n god_n take_v down_o the_o pride_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o make_v it_o humble_a and_o soft_a and_o pliable_a to_o his_o will_n 10._o to_o be_v more_o thankful_a for_o the_o mercy_n we_o enjoy_v we_o seldom_o be_v sufficient_o sensible_a of_o the_o worth_n of_o our_o mercy_n till_o god_n begin_v to_o deprive_v we_o of_o they_o 11._o to_o set_v a_o high_a value_n and_o price_n upon_o time_n sickness_n cry_v aloud_o in_o our_o ear_n redeem_v time_n o_o redeem_v time_n for_o pray_v for_o meditate_v for_o clear_v our_o evidence_n for_o heaven_n etc._n etc._n how_o many_o be_v there_o who_o when_o their_o time_n be_v almost_o do_v have_v their_o great_a work_n then_o to_o begin_v o_o in_o what_o a_o sad_a condition_n be_v they_o these_o and_o such_o like_a lesson_n shall_v be_v learn_v in_o the_o school_n of_o affliction_n but_o now_o they_o who_o god_n shall_v please_v to_o bring_v forth_o out_o of_o their_o trouble_n to_o deliver_v from_o their_o sickness_n and_o renew_v the_o lease_n of_o their_o life_n shall_v be_v exhort_v his_o judgement_n be_v alter_v his_o mind_n be_v change_v he_o see_v with_o other_o eye_n than_o he_o do_v before_o he_o see_v the_o evil_a and_o danger_n of_o sin_n in_o those_o particular_n before_o either_o by_o defraud_v or_o unjust_a detain_v what_o be_v due_a to_o he_o he_o will_v endeavour_v to_o make_v he_o restitution_n or_o other_o satisfaction_n he_o that_o confess_v and_o forsake_v sorrow_n may_v not_o be_v sufficient_a as_o sin_n be_v the_o great_a of_o evil_n so_o our_o sorrow_n for_o it_o shall_v be_v the_o great_a sorrow_n betake_v thyself_o therefore_o to_o a_o more_o solemn_a mourning_n and_o rent_v of_o heart_n for_o the_o great_a sin_n of_o thy_o life_n refuse_v to_o be_v comfort_v with_o any_o worldly_a comfort_n till_o thou_o have_v obtain_v thy_o pardon_n
