only_o the_o root_n of_o abraham_n covenant_n but_o all_o the_o fatness_n of_o the_o root_n of_o the_o wild_a olive_n by_o which_o we_o be_v fat_a and_o lively_a to_o spiritual_a work_n in_o our_o apprehension_n so_o that_o we_o work_v in_o our_o own_o strength_n until_o the_o lord_n come_v and_o cut_v we_o quite_o down_o and_o make_v we_o to_o see_v that_o there_o be_v not_o in_o we_o the_o least_o good_a thought_n as_o of_o ourselves_o and_o therefore_o unless_o the_o lord_n be_v wonderful_o gracious_a to_o we_o we_o can_v be_v save_v till_o it_o come_v unto_o this_o the_o soul_n be_v not_o fit_a for_o jesus_n christ_n thus_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n may_v work_v powerful_o in_o the_o heart_n man_n and_o burn_v up_o their_o root_n and_o branch_n and_o this_o a_o spirit_n of_o burn_a may_v do_v and_o yet_o leave_v the_o soul_n in_o a_o damnable_a condition_n for_o aught_o i_o know_v and_o such_o as_o many_o a_o soul_n may_v be_v in_o and_o yet_o never_o come_v to_o enjoy_v save_v fellowship_n with_o jesus_n christ_n therefore_o as_o this_o be_v one_o arm_n of_o god_n stretch_v forth_o for_o the_o salvation_n of_o his_o people_n when_o he_o draw_v they_o home_o to_o jesus_n christ_n so_o 2._o second_o there_o be_v a_o further_a work_n of_o god_n when_o he_o give_v the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n which_o reach_v beyond_o all_o the_o former_a work_n he_o have_v cut_v we_o off_o from_o ourselves_o and_o now_o we_o stand_v in_o a_o state_n quite_o contrary_a to_o nature_n and_o if_o any_o saving-work_n be_v wrought_v in_o we_o it_o be_v quite_o contrary_a to_o he_o find_v himself_o unable_a to_o do_v any_o thing_n and_o now_o he_o will_v tell_v you_o that_o to_o believe_v be_v as_o impossible_a for_o he_o as_o to_o build_v a_o world_n why_o then_o bid_v strength_n for_o faith_n if_o it_o be_v want_v then_o when_o the_o soul_n do_v lie_v at_o his_o foot_n to_o dispose_v of_o according_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o be_v in_o some_o measure_n not_o any_o other_o gift_n or_o work_n of_o his_o own_o but_o yield_v himself_o humble_o unto_o the_o lord_n to_o work_v in_o he_o both_o will_n and_o deed_n of_o his_o own_o good_a pleasure_n and_o to_o teach_v he_o how_o to_o seek_v and_o wait_v and_o believe_v and_o long_o after_o jesus_n christ_n these_o thing_n he_o wait_v for_o otherwise_o until_o he_o be_v thus_o teach_v of_o god_n the_o soul_n will_v always_o think_v that_o he_o can_v do_v something_o and_o be_v not_o able_a to_o come_v out_o of_o himself_o to_o a_o utter_a denial_n of_o himself_o but_o if_o any_o man_n will_v come_v unto_o christ_n he_o must_v deny_v himself_o even_o all_o his_o own_o gift_n and_o part_n and_o good_a work_n whatsoever_o for_o a_o man_n be_v never_o utter_o deny_v until_o there_o be_v nothing_o leave_v of_o which_o a_o man_n can_v say_v this_o i_o be_o able_a to_o do_v or_o this_o be_v a_o excellent_a thing_n in_o i_o and_o when_o it_o come_v unto_o this_o pass_n then_o will_v the_o soul_n himself_o but_o there_o he_o lie_v to_o see_v what_o the_o lord_n will_v do_v with_o he_o whether_o he_o will_v reach_v forth_o the_o hand_n of_o salvation_n unto_o he_o in_o this_o case_n the_o soul_n
obedience_n unto_o it_o will_v supply_v comfort_n unto_o he_o but_o if_o we_o be_v dead_a unto_o the_o law_n we_o have_v no_o life_n in_o it_o nor_o by_o it_o but_o only_o in_o jesus_n christ_n from_o who_o we_o expect_v our_o comfort_n indeed_o we_o be_v trouble_v that_o we_o shall_v sin_v against_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n otherwise_o we_o look_v not_o at_o our_o obedience_n or_o disobedience_n to_o make_v we_o accept_v or_o reject_v 4._o and_o final_o the_o soul_n do_v not_o claim_v his_o right_n unto_o any_o conditional_a promise_n by_o his_o performance_n of_o the_o condition_n nor_o do_v perform_v the_o condition_n he_o than_o look_v for_o acceptance_n from_o god_n as_o if_o the_o lord_n make_v this_o promise_n that_o he_o that_o confess_v and_o forsake_v his_o sin_n shall_v find_v mercy_n this_o man_n confess_v his_o sin_n unto_o god_n and_o forsake_v it_o and_o therefore_o he_o look_v for_o mercy_n but_o this_o be_v not_o the_o manner_n of_o god_n people_n and_o yet_o if_o they_o look_v for_o any_o mercy_n it_o be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n but_o not_o because_o of_o their_o own_o goodness_n their_o hope_n be_v in_o the_o faithfulness_n and_o free_a grace_n of_o say_v it_o teach_v man_n freedom_n from_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n and_o if_o they_o commit_v any_o sin_n they_o plead_v they_o be_v not_o bind_v unto_o the_o law_n we_o see_v how_o false_a such_o a_o aspersion_n will_v be_v for_o all_o the_o people_n of_o god_n know_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v a_o avenger_n of_o every_o such_o wickedness_n there_o be_v none_o under_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n that_o dare_v allow_v himself_o in_o any_o sin_n for_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v negligent_o commit_v any_o sin_n the_o lord_n will_v school_v he_o thorough_o and_o make_v he_o sad_o to_o apprehend_v but_o there_o be_v need_n of_o great_a light_n than_o the_o word_n of_o itself_o be_v able_a to_o give_v for_o it_o be_v not_o all_o the_o promise_n in_o scripture_n that_o have_v at_o any_o time_n all_o his_o work_n may_v beget_v you_o some_o knowledge_n if_o you_o be_v not_o mistake_v in_o they_o but_o to_o beget_v the_o faith_n of_o god_n elect_v that_o may_v be_v able_a to_o stand_v against_o all_o the_o power_n of_o darkness_n and_o to_o crush_v all_o the_o temptation_n of_o that_o wicked_a one_o it_o be_v not_o all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n nor_o all_o the_o word_n of_o god_n lively_a letter_n otherwise_o as_o not_o the_o flesh_n of_o christ_n so_o nor_o the_o word_n of_o christ_n profit_v any_o thing_n it_o be_v the_o spirit_n that_o quicken_v therefore_o look_v for_o this_o revelation_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o show_v you_o the_o need_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o lord_n offer_v and_o present_v christ_n unto_o you_o and_o his_o draw_v your_o heart_n to_o believe_v upon_o he_o otherwise_o you_o neither_o can_v have_v any_o faith_n nor_o can_v you_o discern_v any_o gift_n of_o god_n bestow_v upon_o you_o in_o the_o second_o place_n use_v 2_o let_v this_o teach_v comfort_n stand_v rather_o in_o expectation_n then_o in_o actual_a fruition_n as_o our_o saviour_n say_v come_v unto_o i_o all_o you_o that_o be_v weary_a and_o heavy_a lade_v and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o rest_n mat._n 11.28.29_o he_o do_v not_o promise_v sudden_a rest_n he_o will_v give_v you_o present_a ease_n but_o learn_v of_o i_o for_o i_o be_o meek_a and_o lowly_a and_o you_o shall_v find_v rest_n unto_o your_o soul_n the_o lord_n will_v give_v rest_n unto_o the_o soul_n of_o his_o people_n at_o the_o present_a he_o give_v they_o ease_v and_o a_o expectation_n of_o much_o more_o plentiful_a fruition_n of_o rest_n and_o peace_n which_o they_o have_v begin_v to_o taste_v of_o and_o how_o do_v the_o lord_n ease_v the_o soul_n in_o such_o a_o case_n so_o as_o that_o they_o feel_v righteousness_n what_o say_v the_o lord_n in_o such_o a_o case_n or_o how_o do_v he_o satisfy_v the_o soul_n he_o tell_v we_o plain_o where_o our_o satisfaction_n be_v joh._n 7.37_o 38_o 39_o if_o any_o man_n thirst_n let_v he_o come_v unto_o i_o and_o drink_n so_o that_o if_o a_o man_n thirst_n how_o shall_v he_o satisfy_v himself_o in_o his_o thirst_v this_o be_v the_o main_a question_n in_o many_o a_o soul_n may_v i_o not_o draw_v consolation_n out_o of_o this_o that_o i_o do_v thirst_n after_o the_o lord_n jesus_n you_o shall_v find_v that_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o bid_v i_o go_v the_o gospel_n of_o grace_n the_o sacrament_n and_o seal_n of_o it_o and_o sundry_a common_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n that_o be_v plentiful_o dispense_v in_o the_o fellowship_n of_o the_o church_n beside_o a_o liberal_a and_o bountiful_a use_n of_o the_o creature_n for_o they_o be_v all_o serviceable_a to_o the_o people_n of_o god_n and_o all_o these_o thing_n do_v flow_v from_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n which_o god_n have_v make_v with_o their_o father_n when_o as_o abraham_n have_v understand_v that_o god_n will_v establish_v the_o covenant_n with_o isaac_n and_o thereupon_o make_v a_o sad_a prayer_n unto_o god_n that_o ishmael_n may_v live_v in_o his_o sight_n gen._n 18.18_o 20._o the_o lord_n answer_v he_o as_o for_o ishmael_n i_o have_v hear_v thou_o behold_v i_o
