this_o be_v a_o other_o thing_n also_o which_o augment_v our_o courage_n and_o boldness_n but_o because_o we_o be_v so_o far_o from_o god_n that_o we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o come_v near_o his_o majesty_n without_o he_o come_v down_o unto_o we_o we_o must_v then_o before_o we_o can_v have_v any_o access_n to_o make_v our_o prayer_n unto_o he_o lay_v this_o foundation_n which_o be_v here_o set_v before_o we_o that_o be_v to_o say_v the_o word_n of_o god_n when_o as_o thereby_o god_n witness_v unto_o we_o that_o his_o mercy_n be_v always_o ready_a that_o he_o there_o lay_v it_o before_o we_o and_o offer_v the_o same_o there_o unto_o us._n there_o remain_v now_o nothing_o else_o but_o that_o we_o receive_v it_o by_o faith_n and_o that_o there_o we_o declare_v our_o faith_n through_o our_o call_n upon_o he_o so_o then_o we_o see_v the_o order_n which_o david_n here_o set_v down_o that_o be_v that_o he_o bring_v we_o to_o god_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v take_v our_o whole_a contentation_n repose_n and_o rejoice_v in_o his_o mere_a goodness_n and_o since_o that_o he_o have_v receive_v we_o through_o his_o mercy_n let_v we_o beseech_v he_o that_o he_o will_v look_v unto_o doctor_n that_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v uncertain_a &_o that_o we_o must_v receive_v they_o as_o thing_n hang_v in_o the_o air_n not_o to_o take_v they_o general_o to_o say_v i_o doubt_v not_o but_o that_o god_n speak_v the_o same_o unto_o i_o but_o contrariwise_o we_o must_v conclude_v as_o david_n here_o do_v and_o o_o lord_n let_v it_o be_v do_v unto_o thy_o servant_n according_a to_o thy_o word_n he_o say_v not_o according_a to_o thy_o word_n i_o know_v not_o to_o who_o nor_o unto_o such_o man_n of_o which_o number_n i_o be_o not_o so_o that_o i_o can_v not_o build_v upon_o it_o but_o he_o say_v according_a to_o thy_o promise_n o_o lord_n make_v unto_o i_o let_v we_o then_o learn_v by_o his_o example_n that_o when_o we_o desire_v the_o lord_n god_n to_o assist_v we_o to_o that_o he_o will_v sometime_o cause_v we_o to_o feel_v they_o as_o if_o he_o have_v clean_o turn_v himself_o away_o from_o we_o and_o all_o because_o we_o first_o forsake_v he_o but_o yet_o we_o must_v notwithstanding_o return_v unto_o he_o and_o not_o be_v discourage_v but_o follow_v the_o example_n of_o david_n that_o although_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n to_o the_o outward_a appearance_n and_o in_o our_o judgement_n be_v far_o from_o we_o and_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o that_o we_o may_v well_o perceive_v it_o yet_o must_v we_o never_o cease_v to_o say_v o_o lord_n let_v thy_o love_a favour_v we_o all_o the_o rest_n will_v turn_v but_o to_o our_o ruin_n and_o destruction_n and_o if_o we_o esteem_v not_o thus_o of_o he_o must_v it_o not_o needs_o be_v but_o that_o we_o must_v be_v bewitch_v by_o satan_n and_o carry_v violent_o away_o when_o we_o shall_v content_v we_o only_o with_o these_o worldly_a thing_n and_o never_o have_v regard_n unto_o the_o spring_n head_n and_o call_v upon_o the_o name_n of_o god_n give_v we_o ceremony_n to_o confirm_v we_o therein_o and_o moreover_o that_o it_o guide_v &_o hold_v we_o within_o our_o limit_n and_o sure_o there_o be_v not_o one_o verse_n in_o all_o this_o psalm_n although_o there_o be_v very_o many_o wherein_o there_o be_v not_o mention_v make_v of_o one_o of_o these_o word_n too_o wit_n either_o of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n or_o of_o his_o commandment_n either_o else_o of_o his_o ordinance_n statute_n or_o testimony_n or_o of_o his_o voice_n judgemente_n or_o justice_n these_o word_n be_v here_o so_o many_o time_n repeat_v as_o that_o there_o be_v not_o one_o verse_n but_o that_o there_o be_v one_o or_o sometime_o two_o of_o they_o in_o it_o as_o hereafter_o we_o shall_v see_v throughout_o the_o whole_a psalm_n and_o now_o let_v we_o come_v to_o the_o matter_n herein_o contain_v blessed_n be_v they_o which_o keep_v the_o testimony_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o which_o seek_v he_o with_o their_o whole_a heart_n first_o david_n decalare_v here_o as_o afore_o say_v that_o we_o have_v great_o profit_v in_o the_o law_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v acknowledge_v and_o confess_v what_o affection_n and_o love_n god_n bear_v we_o and_o how_o we_o ought_v to_o assure_v ourselves_o of_o his_o good_a will_n and_o fatherly_a love_n and_o afterward_o he_o tell_v we_o to_o what_o end_n and_o purpose_n it_o be_v that_o god_n grant_v unto_o we_o such_o a_o assurance_n because_o say_v he_o we_o shall_v seek_v he_o for_o this_o be_v most_o sure_a when_o as_o we_o shall_v understand_v god_n to_o be_v such_o a_o one_o foot_n and_o hand_n with_o the_o outward_a gesture_n of_o the_o body_n alone_o but_o with_o a_o true_a and_o pure_a affection_n and_o therefore_o he_o say_v bless_a be_v they_o which_o seek_v he_o rest_n of_o the_o week_n after_o or_o if_o they_o come_v to_o a_o sermon_n often_o than_o on_o the_o sunday_n it_o seem_v to_o they_o that_o they_o have_v do_v very_o well_o that_o they_o be_v thorough_o discharge_v of_o their_o duty_n if_o they_o tarry_v there_o but_o one_o hour_n but_o because_o they_o may_v be_v set_v at_o more_o liberty_n they_o will_v not_o stick_v to_o say_v that_o they_o will_v be_v free_a from_o some_o one_o vice_n one_o will_v say_v that_o he_o will_v be_v no_o whoremaster_n another_o that_o he_o will_v be_v no_o drunkarde_n another_o that_o he_o will_v be_v no_o blasphemer_n &_o yet_o every_o one_o of_o these_o will_v have_v his_o particular_a vice_n and_o think_v that_o god_n ought_v to_o bear_v with_o they_o see_v that_o for_o his_o honour_n and_o to_o do_v he_o pleasure_n they_o abstein_v from_o some_o sin_n and_o that_o they_o obey_v he_o in_o some_o point_n but_o the_o scripture_n tell_v we_o that_o all_o this_o be_v nothing_o but_o that_o every_o one_o ought_v to_o examine_v himself_o thorough_o and_o in_o all_o point_n and_o find_v in_o himself_o any_o thing_n which_o be_v against_o the_o will_n of_o god_n to_o be_v utter_o displease_v therewith_o clere_o to_o renounce_v it_o and_o to_o desire_v nothing_o but_o to_o be_v cleanse_v thereof_o see_v now_o this_o be_v that_o perfection_n whereof_o david_n here_o speak_v cause_n david_n declare_v that_o there_o be_v but_o one_o only_a mean_a to_o wit_n that_o we_o shall_v whole_o settle_v our_o eye_n upon_o the_o law_n of_o god_n without_o turn_v away_o from_o it_o either_o on_o this_o side_n or_o on_o that_o as_o common_o and_o usual_o we_o do_v afterward_o he_o go_v on_o and_o say_v i_o will_v praise_v thou_o with_o a_o upright_o heart_n when_o i_o shall_v settle_v and_o abide_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o man_n according_a to_o that_o which_o have_v heretofore_o be_v say_v for_o a_o number_n may_v imagine_v of_o their_o own_o brain_n what_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v but_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o it_o stand_v so_o with_o they_o that_o when_o we_o behold_v their_o life_n and_o conversation_n it_o appear_v that_o they_o have_v profit_v no_o whit_n at_o all_o in_o his_o school_n it_o be_v meet_v therefore_o that_o out_o heart_n be_v bring_v to_o the_o school_n of_o god_n to_o weet_v that_o whatsoever_o he_o teach_v we_o it_o may_v be_v thorough_o imprint_v and_o engrave_v within_o and_o this_o be_v that_o manner_n of_o learning_n whereof_o david_n here_o speak_v for_o if_o we_o have_v be_v exercise_v in_o this_o sort_n that_o we_o have_v hold_v the_o doctrine_n and_o law_n of_o god_n we_o may_v very_o well_o glorify_v his_o bless_a name_n to_o weet_v we_o may_v true_o praise_v he_o as_o he_o have_v command_v us._n when_o he_o say_v i_o will_v keep_v thy_o statute_n that_o be_v that_o he_o be_v so_o resolve_a and_o confirm_v in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n that_o he_o have_v overcome_v all_o the_o affection_n and_o lust_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o the_o world_n which_o may_v resist_v and_o hinder_v he_o in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n he_o have_v say_v before_o o_o that_o my_o way_n be_v make_v so_o direct_a he_o desire_v as_o a_o man_n which_o when_o he_o can_v have_v that_o which_o he_o wish_v for_o be_v in_o great_a pain_n and_o travel_v it_o behove_v we_o also_o to_o pour_v out_o such_o sigh_n &_o groan_n consider_v the_o rebellion_n of_o our_o flesh_n which_o be_v so_o contrary_a to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n that_o all_o our_o thought_n and_o affection_n as_o be_v abovesaid_a be_v so_o many_o gainesayinge_n that_o they_o turn_v we_o clean_o away_o from_o his_o obeisance_n we_o must_v therefore_o say_v
ourselves_o whole_o to_o it_o and_o altogether_o rest_v thereon_o behold_v say_v i_o after_o what_o sort_n our_o prayer_n be_v allow_v to_o wit_n when_o as_o we_o pray_v not_o to_o god_n for_o that_o which_o seem_v best_a in_o our_o own_o eye_n but_o when_o as_o we_o be_v fence_v with_o that_o which_o he_o have_v promise_v us._n and_o this_o be_v it_o wherein_o we_o differ_v from_o the_o painime_n and_o infidel_n for_o we_o see_v that_o the_o turk_n and_o idolater_n do_v great_o pray_v unto_o god_n but_o after_o what_o manner_n pray_v they_o forsooth_o even_o at_o all_o adventure_n so_o that_o they_o know_v not_o what_o they_o do_v but_o contrariwise_o we_o must_v pray_v unto_o he_o with_o full_a assurance_n that_o he_o will_v hear_v us._n but_o from_o whence_o shall_v this_o certainty_n proceed_v if_o we_o have_v not_o the_o truth_n to_o go_v before_o we_o and_o say_v behold_v the_o lord_n who_o call_v we_o unto_o he_o and_o then_o when_o we_o come_v unto_o he_o this_o be_v no_o foolish_a presumption_n but_o we_o come_v in_o such_o sort_n unto_o he_o as_o he_o have_v command_v us._n let_v we_o then_o see_v what_o we_o have_v yet_o to_o note_v in_o this_o place_n when_o david_n set_v down_o here_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n by_o which_o he_o be_v bind_v unto_o he_o o_o lord_n say_v he_o let_v it_o be_v do_v unto_o i_o according_a to_o thy_o word_n now_o here_o be_v a_o very_a profitable_a point_n to_o be_v consider_v off_o to_o wit_n after_o that_o we_o be_v once_o assure_v that_o god_n have_v promise_v too_o do_v that_o for_o we_o which_o we_o shall_v ask_v of_o he_o we_o must_v no_o more_o doubt_n that_o it_o shall_v be_v so_o but_o that_o the_o thing_n be_v full_o conclude_v upon_o so_o that_o we_o be_v ever_o sure_a and_o certain_a thereof_o for_o when_o god_n speak_v unto_o we_o we_o be_v very_o sure_a that_o he_o will_v not_o deceive_v we_o he_o will_v not_o give_v we_o fair_a word_n and_o then_o deceive_v we_o as_o man_n many_o time_n do_v deal_v very_o liberal_o with_o their_o tongue_n but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o very_o close_o fist_v but_o god_n deal_v not_o in_o such_o sort_n let_v we_o then_o come_v before_o he_o without_o distrust_n have_v we_o his_o word_n let_v we_o then_o hold_v the_o thing_n as_o already_o perform_v and_o so_o when_o david_n say_v according_a to_o thy_o word_n he_o signify_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o be_v not_o only_o assure_v that_o god_n be_v faithful_a and_o liberal_a that_o he_o mean_v not_o to_o abuse_v we_o when_o as_o we_o trust_v to_o he_o but_o show_v we_o that_o this_o certainty_n which_o we_o have_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n shall_v not_o make_v we_o weary_a to_o say_v that_o we_o be_v as_o it_o be_v even_o overwhelm_v but_o we_o must_v rather_o be_v careful_a and_o diligent_a to_o pray_v unto_o he_o there_o be_v some_o man_n which_o will_v in_o deed_n say_v that_o they_o believe_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n but_o since_o say_v they_o he_o know_v what_o we_o have_v need_n of_o what_o need_v we_o to_o be_v importune_a upon_o he_o now_o these_o man_n indeed_o very_o well_o declare_v that_o they_o never_o understand_v what_o faith_n and_o hope_n be_v for_o if_o we_o receive_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n without_o hypocrisy_n we_o ought_v to_o be_v thus_o earnest_a and_o zealous_a to_o pray_v and_o have_v recourse_n unto_o he_o say_v o_o lord_n god_n when_o as_o thou_o have_v assure_v i_o of_o thy_o bounty_n and_o mercy_n it_o be_v to_o this_o end_n that_o i_o shall_v call_v upon_o thou_o in_o my_o need_n and_o that_o i_o see_v the_o necessity_n which_o urge_v and_o press_v i_o i_o must_v needs_o come_v unto_o thou_o as_o thou_o haste_v call_v i_o by_o thy_o word_n behold_v then_o that_o all_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n shall_v serve_v we_o in_o stead_n of_o so_o many_o spur_n to_o prick_v we_o forward_o in_o make_v our_o prayer_n unto_o he_o let_v we_o now_o come_v to_o the_o word_n of_o david_n let_v thy_o love_a mercy_n or_o thy_o grace_n come_v unto_o i_o o_o lord_n and_o thy_o salvation_n after_o that_o he_o have_v lay_v his_o foundation_n whereupon_o too_o build_v he_o desire_v oneself_o same_o thing_n in_o two_o word_n which_o to_o the_o outward_a appearance_n be_v diverse_a and_o sundry_a to_o wit_n the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o his_o salvation_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o david_n mean_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o god_n will_v show_v himself_o to_o be_v his_o saviour_n neither_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n here_o speak_v superfluous_o for_o it_o be_v asmuch_o as_n if_o he_o have_v say_v o_o my_o god_n i_o beseech_v thou_o that_o according_a to_o thy_o promise_n thou_o will_v make_v i_o feel_v thou_o to_o be_v my_o saviour_n and_o father_n but_o yet_o in_o the_o mean_a while_n he_o express_v unto_o we_o whence_o this_o salvation_n which_o we_o must_v wait_v for_o and_o which_o god_n have_v promise_v we_o come_v and_o that_o be_v of_o his_o mere_a good_a will_n for_o man_n can_v otherwise_o choose_v but_o that_o they_o will_v ever_o wrongful_o take_v upon_o they_o some_o thing_n or_o other_o which_o appertain_v nothing_o unto_o they_o and_o always_o to_o be_v foolish_o and_o arrogant_o bind_v unto_o themselves_o now_o david_n clean_o contrary_a show_v here_o that_o all_o the_o salvation_n which_o he_o hope_v after_o &_o desire_v come_v from_o another_o springheade_n then_o from_o the_o virtue_n and_o dignity_n of_o man_n to_o wit_n even_o from_o the_o mere_a goodness_n of_o god_n so_o then_o we_o see_v that_o as_o before_o he_o have_v speak_v of_o the_o promise_n even_o so_o also_o he_o here_o add_v and_o express_v the_o cause_n which_o move_v god_n to_o bind_v himself_o so_o unto_o we_o to_o wit_n his_o mere_a mercy_n by_o this_o we_o be_v admonish_v that_o when_o we_o be_v to_o call_v upon_o god_n we_o shall_v always_o have_v regard_n unto_o these_o two_o thing_n to_o wit_n the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o his_o free_a mercy_n and_o after_o that_o his_o promise_n god_n be_v good_a and_o liberal_a and_o see_v why_o it_o be_v that_o he_o with_o pity_n look_v upon_o we_o and_o behold_v we_o with_o his_o eye_n of_o compassion_n vouchsafe_v to_o receive_v we_o yea_o and_o call_v and_o allure_v we_o unto_o he_o and_o also_o imbolden_v we_o to_o crave_v of_o he_o to_o the_o end_n he_o will_v help_v and_o succour_v we_o in_o all_o our_o need_n and_o necessity_n now_o this_o goodness_n shall_v lie_v hide_v in_o god_n be_v it_o not_o that_o he_o make_v we_o to_o feel_v it_o by_o his_o promise_n for_o god_n show_v himself_o unto_o we_o to_o be_v such_o a_o one_o as_o in_o deed_n he_o be_v he_o lay_v his_o heart_n wide_o open_a when_o he_o render_v we_o a_o testimony_n of_o the_o love_n he_o bear_v us._n loe_o here_o why_o i_o have_v say_v that_o in_o all_o our_o prayer_n we_o ought_v to_o have_v these_o two_o consideration_n the_o one_o be_v that_o god_n be_v so_o good_a and_o love_a that_o although_o we_o be_v poor_a and_o miserable_a creature_n and_o nothing_o else_o but_o dung_n and_o stench_n yet_o for_o all_o that_o he_o cease_v not_o too_o love_v we_o and_o to_o have_v great_a care_n of_o our_o salvation_n and_o since_o we_o be_v come_v too_o the_o promise_n which_o be_v a_o sure_a testimony_n that_o god_n be_v such_o one_o we_o shall_v no_o more_o doubt_v what_o affection_n he_o bear_v we_o whether_o he_o be_v our_o friend_n or_o enemy_n see_v it_o be_v so_o that_o he_o be_v very_o well_o willing_a to_o be_v bind_v unto_o we_o in_o declare_v unto_o we_o that_o he_o be_v our_o father_n and_o take_v we_o to_o be_v his_o child_n now_o david_n make_v such_o a_o request_n as_o we_o have_v already_o touch_v to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v answer_v those_o which_o wrought_v he_o shame_n although_o he_o say_v word_n for_o word_n to_o the_o end_n i_o may_v answer_v these_o which_o work_v i_o shame_n here_o david_n declare_v that_o when_o god_n shall_v have_v aid_v he_o that_o then_o he_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o withstand_v all_o his_o enemy_n put_v by_o all_o the_o injury_n &_o scorn_n of_o the_o unbeliever_n and_o faithless_a which_o they_o do_v lay_v before_o he_o to_o the_o end_n too_o shake_v and_o crush_v the_o faithful_a and_o to_o destroy_v they_o yea_o and_o utter_o to_o make_v their_o faith_n nothing_o worth_a if_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o they_o to_o do_v it_o by_o this_o we_o be_v let_v to_o understande_v that_o if_o we_o make_v our_o prayer_n to_o god_n whensoever_o it_o shall_v happen_v all_o the_o world_n too_o assail_v we_o and_o that_o it_o may_v seem_v we_o shall_v be_v plunge_v in_o hell_n a_o hundred_o thousand_o time_n yet_o
when_o any_o mention_n be_v make_v of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o understand_v and_o know_v that_o it_o be_v speak_v to_o they_o and_o without_o they_o know_v that_o all_o be_v to_o no_o purpose_n we_o may_v read_v the_o bible_n a_o hundred_o time_n over_o but_o we_o shall_v never_o have_v any_o taste_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n or_o certain_o if_o we_o learn_v any_o thing_n out_o of_o it_o that_o shall_v no_o whit_n assure_v we_o to_o conceive_v a_o true_a certainty_n of_o our_o salvation_n except_o we_o know_v that_o it_o be_v to_o we_o which_o god_n speak_v that_o it_o be_v we_o even_o we_o i_o say_v who_o he_o will_v make_v to_o feel_v his_o mercy_n and_o fatherly_a love_n if_o we_o conceive_v of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n as_o hang_v in_o the_o air_n that_o god_n have_v speak_v &_o we_o know_v not_o to_o who_o to_o what_o purpose_n shall_v this_o be_v what_o benefit_n shall_v we_o reap_v by_o this_o so_o then_o let_v we_o thorough_o consider_v of_o this_o doctrine_n be_v mindful_a o_o lord_n of_o thy_o servant_n according_a to_o thy_o word_n david_n apply_v unto_o himself_o the_o promise_n which_o he_o have_v receive_v for_o he_o know_v that_o so_o be_v it_o in_o the_o supper_n for_o when_o we_o come_v to_o receive_v the_o bread_n and_o wine_n in_o the_o supper_n our_o lord_n jesus_n declare_v unto_o we_o that_o as_o he_o once_o for_o all_o shed_v his_o most_o precious_a blood_n for_o our_o redemption_n and_o salvation_n that_o his_o body_n also_o be_v our_o meat_n and_o nurriture_n lo_o then_o how_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v full_o assure_v that_o it_o be_v to_o we_o which_o god_n speak_v and_o that_o he_o also_o offer_v his_o mercy_n to_o we_o in_o common_a and_o see_v why_o david_n also_o add_v and_o say_v the_o same_o be_v my_o comfort_n in_o my_o trouble_n for_o thy_o word_n have_v quicken_v i_o for_o this_o be_v the_o right_a and_o true_a use_n whereunto_o we_o ought_v to_o apply_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n to_o of_o we_o which_o have_v scarce_o receive_v one_o drop_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o respect_n and_o comparison_n of_o this_o holy_a mane_n and_o so_o â—et_v we_o consider_v to_o be_v the_o much_o the_o rather_o ought_v we_o to_o be_v careful_a to_o make_v this_o request_n unto_o god_n with_o david_n yea_o and_o that_o with_o such_o a_o confidence_n as_o that_o we_o shall_v not_o doubt_v our_o word_n in_o the_o time_n of_o prayer_n but_o if_o we_o shall_v have_v speak_v never_o so_o loud_o and_o with_o never_o so_o full_a and_o open_a mouth_n and_o yet_o have_v empty_a or_o fast_o close_v up_o heart_n empty_a i_o say_v and_o void_a of_o all_o trust_n and_o fast_o close_v up_o it_o be_v a_o most_o manifest_a token_n that_o we_o never_o sure_o look_v for_o any_o succour_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o behold_v why_o of_o very_o right_a all_o our_o prayer_n be_v unprofitable_a and_o to_o no_o purpose_n and_o so_o when_o as_o we_o will_v beseech_v the_o lord_n our_o god_n to_o take_v our_o cause_n into_o his_o hand_n to_o help_v we_o let_v we_o take_v this_o with_o we_o which_o david_n here_o show_v in_o this_o place_n by_o his_o example_n to_o wit_n let_v we_o attend_v and_o look_v for_o our_o salvation_n and_o deliverance_n from_o god_n yea_o and_o let_v we_o consider_v of_o that_o which_o be_v say_v &_o according_a to_o the_o word_n of_o thy_o must_v have_v a_o sure_a testimony_n of_o his_o will_n we_o must_v be_v sure_a that_o he_o love_v we_o and_o that_o when_o he_o love_v we_o he_o will_v not_o fail_v we_o in_o our_o need_n and_o how_o shall_v we_o be_v assure_v of_o this_o it_o shall_v be_v by_o the_o only_a mean_a of_o his_o word_n now_o because_o man_n be_v so_o hard_a to_o be_v bring_v to_o rest_v themselves_o upon_o god_n and_o not_o to_o content_v they_o with_o his_o promise_n david_n say_v these_o promise_n to_o be_v just_a according_a to_o the_o word_n of_o thy_o righteousness_n say_v he_o it_o be_v not_o in_o vain_a that_o he_o thus_o intitule_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o why_o so_o for_o he_o think_v that_o if_o he_o have_v but_o his_o bare_a word_n that_o it_o be_v enough_o for_o he_o and_o why_o so_o for_o god_n make_v not_o unto_o we_o liberal_a and_o large_a promise_n as_o man_n do_v and_o then_o deceive_v us._n his_o word_n be_v just_a and_o as_o he_o say_v in_o a_o other_o place_n 12.6_o psal_n 12.6_o his_o word_n be_v like_a to_o pure_a silver_n which_o be_v try_v in_o the_o fire_n and_o have_v be_v seven_o time_n purify_v in_o the_o furnace_n even_o so_o be_v it_o with_o all_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n we_o ought_v to_o be_v very_o assure_v of_o they_o because_o he_o be_v faithful_a and_o just_a and_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o righteousness_n and_o truth_n in_o all_o and_o fence_v amidst_o all_o these_o hard_a case_n with_o the_o hope_n &_o trust_v which_o he_o have_v in_o god_n see_v what_o the_o word_n import_v which_o he_o use_v that_o his_o eye_n fail_v for_o the_o health_n and_o succour_n which_o he_o look_v for_o at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n will_v we_o then_o have_v a_o right_a hope_n and_o such_o a_o one_o as_o god_n allow_v of_o let_v we_o then_o not_o trust_v only_o when_o we_o be_v quiet_a and_o at_o rest_n ne_o yet_o be_v throw_v down_o by_o any_o temptation_n but_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v in_o our_o extreme_a trouble_n that_o we_o know_v not_o at_o all_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o that_o we_o shall_v see_v nothing_o else_o but_o death_n before_o we_o and_o round_o about_o we_o here_o upon_o i_o say_v let_v we_o always_o mercy_n of_o god_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v o_o lord_n teach_v i_o thy_o statute_n and_o teach_v i_o they_o not_o for_o that_o i_o think_v myself_o worthy_a of_o they_o but_o because_o thou_o be_v pitiful_a and_o

displeasure_n no_o not_o so_o but_o contrariwise_o let_v we_o know_v that_o here_o god_n subiect_v we_o to_o a_o great_a number_n of_o wretchedness_n and_o misery_n to_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v be_v always_o call_v upon_o he_o for_o his_o mercy_n and_o too_o be_v always_o run_v unto_o he_o for_o it_o lo_o here_o the_o first_o point_n which_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v of_o in_o this_o place_n that_o the_o faithful_a to_o the_o outward_a show_n shall_v be_v very_o miserable_a and_o in_o a_o most_o wretched_a case_n so_o long_o as_o they_o shall_v live_v here_o bylowe_a and_o the_o meaning_n of_o god_n be_v to_o hold_v we_o under_o this_o condition_n to_o the_o end_n to_o awaken_v we_o that_o we_o may_v have_v a_o far_o great_a affection_n to_o call_v upon_o he_o and_o to_o cleave_v then_o for_o we_o to_o do_v forsooth_o we_o must_v love_v the_o name_n of_o god_n and_o here_o we_o be_v also_o to_o consider_v what_o this_o say_n mean_v too_o love_v the_o name_n of_o god_n for_o help_v our_o necessity_n and_o namely_o it_o be_v say_v to_o love_v the_o name_n of_o god_n because_o we_o must_v receive_v a_o testimony_n from_o he_o to_o comprehend_v his_o good_a will_n we_o see_v not_o god_n in_o his_o essence_n or_o as_o he_o be_v in_o deed_n but_o he_o manife_v himself_o unto_o we_o by_o a_o neither_o mean_v to_o wit_n that_o we_o may_v behold_v he_o in_o the_o glass_n of_o his_o word_n where_o he_o show_v himself_o unto_o we_o open_o enough_o now_o david_n add_v soon_o after_o order_v my_o step_n in_o thy_o word_n and_o let_v no_o wickedness_n have_v dominion_n over_o here_o be_v two_o thing_n which_o david_n desier_v to_o have_v his_o so_o otesteppe_n order_v according_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o afterward_o that_o no_o iniquity_n have_v dominion_n over_o he_o which_o be_v asmuch_o as_n if_o he_o have_v say_v that_o god_n have_v conform_v he_o to_o his_o word_n and_o give_v he_o power_n and_o strength_n to_o withstand_v all_o temptation_n now_o when_o he_o say_v order_v my_o step_n according_a too_o thy_o word_n he_o mean_v that_o we_o can_v do_v nothing_o at_o all_o except_o god_n govern_v we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n so_o then_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o we_o have_v the_o word_n of_o god_n preach_v unto_o we_o to_o hear_v it_o and_o to_o be_v exercise_v in_o the_o read_n thereof_o but_o it_o be_v god_n that_o must_v put_v to_o his_o help_a hand_n over_o &_o beside_o he_o it_o be_v that_o must_v make_v the_o preach_n of_o it_o effectual_a and_o pierce_v our_o ear_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v understande_v that_o which_o his_o word_n and_o why_o do_v he_o so_o shall_v that_o which_o be_v necessary_a for_o david_n to_o do_v be_v superfluous_a for_o we_o god_n forbid_v for_o if_o such_o a_o prophet_n as_o he_o have_v need_v too_o arm_n himself_o against_o the_o temptation_n of_o his_o flesh_n against_o the_o infirmity_n wherewith_o he_o may_v be_v assail_v i_o pray_v you_o how_o quick_o shall_v he_o be_v overthrow_v if_o we_o have_v not_o the_o same_o remedy_n which_o we_o use_v and_o the_o courage_n also_o which_o he_o here_o exhort_v we_o unto_o let_v we_o then_o consider_v that_o if_o we_o will_v world_n or_o no_o there_o be_v a_o thousand_o fantasy_n which_o the_o devil_n go_v about_o to_o put_v in_o our_o mind_n and_o when_o we_o be_v in_o this_o case_n see_v we_o be_v so_o astonish_v as_o that_o there_o be_v no_o come_n for_o we_o too_o pray_v unto_o god_n and_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n it_o be_v because_o we_o have_v not_o be_v careful_a to_o meditate_v upon_o his_o promise_n and_o therefore_o we_o ought_v so_o much_o the_o more_o thorough_o to_o consider_v of_o this_o lesson_n when_o as_o it_o be_v say_v that_o david_n his_o eye_n prevent_v the_o night_n watch_v too_o with_o what_o affection_n come_v they_o think_v you_o very_o because_o that_o they_o can_v deny_v but_o that_o there_o must_v be_v one_o day_n in_o the_o week_n for_o they_o to_o meet_v together_o and_o such_o a_o beastly_a impudency_n as_o can_v be_v great_a all_o this_o we_o see_v now_o let_v we_o consider_v that_o it_o be_v so_o far_o of_o that_o our_o slothfulness_n shall_v be_v excuse_v as_o that_o god_n can_v but_o just_o punish_v we_o in_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v deprive_v of_o the_o ability_n to_o call_v upon_o he_o in_o our_o need_n and_o shall_v have_v our_o mouth_n also_o stop_v and_o afterward_o the_o mischief_n shall_v increase_v daily_o more_o and_o more_o until_o such_o time_n as_o we_o be_v come_v even_o to_o the_o depth_n of_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n that_o be_v to_o say_v we_o shall_v be_v utter_o exclude_v from_o the_o help_n of_o our_o good_a god_n that_o he_o will_v retire_v himself_o from_o we_o and_o clear_o banish_v we_o his_o kingdom_n behold_v here_o the_o fruit_n which_o commerh_n by_o our_o negligence_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v make_v no_o account_v of_o the_o exercise_v of_o ourselves_o in_o this_o study_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n now_o david_n add_v hear_v my_o voice_n o_o lord_n at_o according_v unto_o thy_o love_a kindness_n quicken_v i_o according_a to_o thy_o judgement_n here_o david_n declare_v yet_o more_o plain_o upon_o what_o ground_n he_o lay_v his_o foundation_n of_o pray_v unto_o god_n to_o wit_n he_o bring_v no_o kind_n of_o presumption_n with_o he_o think_v to_o make_v account_n of_o this_o or_o that_o and_o so_o to_o be_v think_v very_o worthy_a that_o god_n shall_v hear_v he_o but_o he_o prefer_v the_o goodness_n and_o faithfulness_n of_o god_n above_o all_o his_o own_o woorthiness_n loe_o here_o whereunto_o we_o must_v look_v if_o we_o will_v have_v god_n to_o be_v merciful_a unto_o us._n and_o when_o as_o we_o will_v profit_v ourselves_o by_o our_o prayer_n we_o must_v not_o once_o talk_v of_o bring_v in_o of_o any_o thing_n of_o we_o with_o we_o ne_o yet_o allege_v this_o thing_n nor_o that_o as_o think_v too_o bind_v god_n unto_o we_o for_o some_o good_a turn_n that_o we_o have_v god_n present_v himself_o thus_o unto_o we_o be_v they_o our_o merit_n have_v we_o any_o way_n on_o our_o part_n deserve_v that_o he_o shall_v be_v so_o love_v and_o kind_a unto_o we_o no_o without_o commandment_n be_v true_a here_o david_n complain_v unto_o god_n and_o desire_v he_o to_o help_v he_o against_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a contemner_n of_o his_o majesty_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v unto_o he_o o_o lord_n i_o can_v allege_v nothing_o at_o all_o for_o my_o one_o defence_n but_o that_o they_o which_o draw_v nigh_o unto_o i_o to_o hurt_v i_o be_v so_o much_o the_o far_o of_o special_o choose_v he_o out_o among_o the_o rest_n and_o have_v bestow_v so_o many_o excellent_a grace_n upon_o he_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o he_o be_v content_v that_o the_o ungodly_a shall_v persecute_v he_o neither_o can_v he_o make_v they_o stand_v aloof_o off_o for_o he_o have_v neither_o rampare_v or_o bulwark_n that_o he_o be_v able_a to_o say_v you_o shall_v not_o come_v near_o i_o god_n in_o all_o age_n to_o have_v his_o child_n subject_a to_o the_o malice_n of_o their_o enemy_n let_v we_o also_o have_v a_o further_a consideration_n of_o this_o which_o he_o say_v that_o they_o be_v far_o from_o the_o law_n of_o god_n for_o this_o import_v that_o they_o neither_o have_v truth_n nor_o equity_n in_o they_o when_o then_o the_o ungodly_a shall_v with_o the_o contempt_n of_o god_n and_o a_o extreme_a impiety_n even_o rush_v upon_o we_o to_o overthrow_v we_o let_v we_o then_o i_o say_v remember_v the_o example_n of_o david_n and_o say_v wherefore_o do_v the_o wicked_a thus_o persecute_v we_o without_o any_o regard_n too_o he_o who_o ought_v and_o will_v when_o it_o please_v he_o both_o with_o force_n and_o violence_n repress_v they_o it_o be_v because_o they_o be_v both_o blind_a and_o blockish_a and_o be_v without_o all_o truth_n and_o equity_n but_o on_o the_o contrary_a side_n let_v we_o not_o be_v afeard_a because_o we_o know_v that_o god_n be_v nigh_o we_o &_o let_v we_o continual_o call_v upon_o he_o to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v be_v always_o near_o and_o near_o unto_o we_o too_o put_v himself_o betwixt_o we_o and_o make_v himself_o our_o buckler_n to_o put_v back_o the_o attempt_n and_o to_o bear_v the_o blow_n wherewith_o the_o wicked_a shall_v assail_v us._n moreover_o let_v we_o besure_n &_o resolute_a that_o notwithstanding_o that_o the_o ungodly_a shall_v thus_o oppress_v we_o yet_o that_o god_n be_v not_o far_o from_o we_o although_o that_o we_o can_v not_o perceive_v it_o for_o god_n will_v oftentimes_o be_v near_o we_o when_o as_o we_o shall_v think_v that_o he_o be_v clean_o hide_a that_o be_v to_o say_v he_o show_v not_o unto_o we_o his_o power_n and_o virtue_n neither_o lay_v he_o it_o open_a at_o the_o first_o chop_n for_o nigh_o very_o well_o and_o god_n be_v at_o hand_n that_o be_v to_o say_v god_n be_v not_o asleep_a in_o heaven_n while_o these_o man_n be_v malicious_o imagine_v to_o do_v we_o hurt_v god_n his_o arm_n be_v not_o a_o cross_n neither_o be_v his_o hand_n close_v notwithstanding_o that_o these_o man_n seek_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o devour_v us._n god_n be_v not_o yet_o blind_a while_o these_o ungodly_a awake_a to_o destroy_v and_o confound_v us._n see_v then_o how_o god_n according_a to_o the_o necessity_n which_o he_o know_v to_o be_v in_o we_o will_v always_o be_v at_o hand_n so_o to_o assist_v we_o as_o that_o whatsoever_o mischief_n be_v near_o we_o it_o shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o overcome_v we_o yea_o invent_v the_o wicked_a what_o they_o can_v on_o all_o side_n this_o be_v it_o that_o david_n mean_v to_o signify_v in_o this_o place_n now_o he_o also_o say_v that_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n be_v true_a wherein_o he_o exhort_v we_o to_o have_v recourse_n unto_o the_o near_o unto_o we_o for_o as_o much_o as_o thou_o see_v we_o to_o be_v persecute_v and_o trouble_v by_o the_o wicked_a and_o how_o they_o come_v upon_o we_o to_o destroy_v we_o and_o that_o thou_o be_v right_a before_o they_o and_o against_o they_o to_o beat_v they_o back_o and_o to_o bear_v their_o blow_n all_o this_o do_v i_o confess_v o_o lord_n but_o yet_o i_o you_o not_o this_o after_o a_o visible_a &_o worldly_a manner_n how_o then_o it_o be_v because_o thy_o commandment_n be_v true_a david_n then_o know_v that_o god_n be_v near_o unto_o he_o because_o he_o settle_v himself_o upon_o the_o law_n and_o the_o promise_n which_o be_v give_v he_o and_o even_o so_o must_v we_o do_v although_o it_o seem_v very_o hard_a as_o we_o have_v already_o touch_v it_o follow_v i_o have_v know_v long_o since_o by_o testimony_n that_o thou_o have_v ground_v they_o for_o ever_o in_o this_o latter_a verse_n for_o a_o conclusion_n david_n say_v that_o he_o be_v not_o like_o a_o novice_n to_o be_v now_o too_o learn_v to_o know_v what_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n be_v but_o he_o be_v resolute_a that_o god_n be_v near_o he_o because_o he_o have_v his_o word_n from_o which_o he_o can_v not_o start_v he_o show_v then_o that_o the_o faithful_a ought_v not_o too_o be_v as_o it_o be_v in_o their_o a._n b._n c._n but_o must_v be_v long_a time_n exercise_v as_o david_n protest_v of_o himself_o commandment_n which_o thou_o haste_v ground_v for_o ever_o so_o then_o let_v we_o learn_v that_o if_o we_o will_v bold_o strive_v against_o all_o the_o assault_n wherewith_o we_o may_v be_v assail_v we_o must_v continue_v in_o this_o knowledge_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o we_o shall_v always_o find_v he_o ready_a to_o be_v near-hand_o we_o so_o that_o we_o may_v be_v sure_a of_o his_o protection_n not_o for_o a_o day_n only_o but_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n and_o so_o let_v we_o thorough_o record_n this_o lesson_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v say_v with_o david_n that_o we_o have_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n so_o deep_o imprint_v in_o our_o heart_n as_o that_o we_o have_v long_o time_n since_o know_v what_o be_v already_o in_o they_o too_o wit_n that_o god_n have_v establish_v they_o that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o although_o we_o shall_v see_v a_o great_a number_n of_o change_n in_o this_o world_n that_o all_o thing_n be_v change_v and_o turn_v yet_o that_o god_n be_v no_o chaungeling_n that_o he_o never_o alter_v his_o mind_n that_o his_o word_n be_v as_o it_o be_v from_o the_o beginning_n and_o as_o it_o shall_v continue_v for_o ever_o that_o it_o shall_v never_o be_v subject_a to_o all_o the_o turn_n and_o change_n of_o this_o world_n but_o shall_v ever_o abide_v in_o his_o full_a strength_n and_o virtue_n because_o that_o god_n have_v establish_v it_o for_o ever_o and_o this_o be_v even_o so_o as_o that_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v prepapare_v to_o call_v upon_o god_n to_o wit_n when_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v settle_v upon_o the_o true_a confidence_n of_o his_o promise_n that_o we_o shall_v have_v know_v the_o everlasting_a power_n &_o strength_n which_o he_o have_v give_v to_o his_o word_n that_o be_v that_o he_o will_v remain_v always_o like_a unto_o himself_o when_o i_o say_v we_o shall_v have_v know_v this_o we_o may_v bold_o come_v and_o present_v ourselves_o before_o he_o be_v assure_v that_o he_o will_v make_v we_o feel_v by_o proof_n that_o which_o he_o promise_v we_o so_o oftentimes_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v recourse_n unto_o he_o trust_v herein_o that_o he_o have_v render_v unto_o we_o a_o testimony_n of_o the_o love_n which_o he_o bear_v us._n now_o let_v we_o prostrate_v ourselves_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o our_o good_a god_n and_o father_n in_o acknowledge_v our_o innumerable_a offence_n which_o we_o daily_o commit_v against_o he_o beseech_v he_o that_o he_o will_v so_o touch_v we_o as_o that_o in_o steed_n that_o we_o have_v be_v over_o much_o give_v to_o our_o fleshly_a affection_n and_o vanity_n of_o this_o world_n that_o now_o we_o seek_v none_o other_o way_n but_o whole_o too_o order_v ourselves_o according_a to_o his_o good_a will_n be_v assure_v that_o although_o we_o be_v feeble_a and_o weak_a yea_o and_o utter_o void_a of_o all_o strength_n so_o that_o we_o can_v stepe_v one_o foot_n forward_o without_o stumble_v or_o else_o in_o go_v backward_o we_o be_v far_o from_o he_o yet_o let_v we_o not_o doubt_n but_o that_o he_o will_v be_v near_o at_o hand_n too_o help_v we_o and_o also_o that_o when_o he_o have_v make_v we_o too_o feel_v his_o help_n that_o he_o will_v give_v we_o that_o grace_n that_o we_o may_v be_v so_o thankful_a unto_o he_o as_o he_o deserve_v desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o too_o glorify_v he_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n for_o so_o many_o his_o benefit_n as_o he_o daily_o give_v we_o and_o liberal_o bestow_v upon_o us._n that_o he_o will_v not_o only_o grant_v unto_o we_o this_o grace_n but_o also_o unto_o all_o people_n and_o nation_n of_o the_o earth_n etc._n etc._n the_o xx_o sermon_n upon_o the_o hundred_o and_o nineteenth_o psalm_n resh_n behold_v my_o affliction_n and_o deliver_v i_o for_o i_o have_v not_o forget_v thy_o law_n plead_v my_o cause_n and_o deliver_v i_o quicken_v i_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n salvation_n be_v far_o from_o the_o ungodly_a because_o they_o seek_v not_o thy_o statute_n great_a mean_a while_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v that_o god_n will_v exercise_v we_o with_o diverse_a affliction_n so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n wherefore_o such_o be_v the_o condition_n and_o state_n of_o christian_n so_o long_o as_o they_o shall_v live_v here_o upon_o the_o earth_n that_o be_v they_o must_v strive_v &_o be_v exercise_v with_o diverse_a sort_n of_o grieve_v sometime_o of_o the_o body_n and_o otherwhiles_o of_o the_o soul_n and_o therefore_o for_o this_o cause_n must_v we_o arm_v ourselves_o to_o the_o end_n we_o be_v not_o overcome_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o conflict_n now_o the_o principal_a piece_n of_o our_o armour_n be_v to_o pray_v un-god_n and_o to_o call_v upon_o he_o to_o help_v us._n and_o to_o bring_v this_o about_o we_o be_v in_o this_o text_n here_o we_o see_v how_o david_n be_v even_o extreme_o afflict_v again_o we_o see_v also_o how_o he_o behave_v himself_o in_o all_o his_o affliction_n which_o although_o they_o be_v very_o vehement_a yet_o do_v they_o not_o hinder_v he_o too_o have_v recourse_n untoo_o god_n and_o of_o he_o he_o be_v rescue_v and_o save_v see_v then_o what_o we_o have_v to_o meditate_v upon_o too_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v do_v the_o like_a behold_v my_o affliction_n and_o deliver_v i_o for_o i_o do_v not_o forget_v thy_o law_n when_o as_o he_o desire_v god_n to_o look_v unto_o his_o affliction_n it_o be_v even_o the_o same_o which_o we_o have_v already_o say_v too_o wit_n that_o although_o god_n love_v he_o yet_o will_v he_o not_o but_o that_o he_o shall_v be_v subject_a too_o a_o great_a number_n of_o misery_n torment_n and_o grief_n let_v we_o not_o think_v then_o to_o be_v privilege_v so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v to_o walk_v here_o bilowe_a on_o the_o earth_n but_o that_o god_n will_v exercise_v we_o and_o assay_v and_o prove_v our_o patience_n as_o he_o have_v prove_v david_n
like_a as_o a_o david_n make_v here_o such_o a_o request_n so_o also_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v that_o he_o make_v it_o not_o of_o his_o own_o head_n nor_o at_o adventure_n but_o he_o know_v it_o to_o be_v the_o office_n of_o god_n that_o be_v that_o he_o will_v avenge_v all_o outrage_n 15._o exo._n 15._o as_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o song_n of_o moses_n that_o if_o man_n oppress_v any_o unjust_o our_o lord_n say_v that_o it_o be_v be_v which_o avenge_v the_o cause_n of_o the_o innocent_a and_o of_o he_o that_o be_v trouble_v without_o a_o cause_n david_n then_o know_v that_o god_n have_v take_v this_o title_n unto_o himself_o and_o declare_v that_o he_o will_v not_o suffer_v the_o throat_n of_o the_o righteous_a too_o be_v thus_o cut_v to_o be_v torment_v and_o tread_v underfoot_o but_o that_o he_o will_v stretch_v forth_o his_o hand_n too_o help_v they_o he_o have_v know_v this_o call_v upon_o god_n with_o a_o sure_a constancy_n that_o will_v receive_v he_o incontinent_a ready_a to_o help_v our_o necessity_n and_o this_o be_v it_o why_o david_n by_o and_o by_o after_o say_v quicken_v i_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o this_o say_n be_v add_v for_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v when_o as_o we_o will_v beseech_v the_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n to_o take_v upon_o he_o our_o quarrel_n and_o too_o assist_v we_o in_o our_o affliction_n and_o then_o we_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n shall_v stand_v in_o doubt_n of_o his_o so_o do_v we_o shall_v profit_v ourselves_o little_a in_o so_o pray_v but_o we_o must_v be_v full_o assure_v that_o he_o will_v deliver_v us._n and_o whensoever_o it_o shall_v come_v too_o pass_v that_o we_o shall_v be_v destitute_a of_o all_o man_n aid_n yea_o that_o it_o shall_v seem_v that_o all_o the_o whole_a world_n have_v conspire_v our_o destruction_n and_o decay_n than_o shall_v we_o chiefly_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o god_n will_v avenge_v our_o cause_n and_o not_o only_o serve_v we_o in_o stead_n of_o a_o proctor_n but_o will_v be_v altogether_o also_o our_o judge_n &_o adverse_a party_n against_o our_o enemy_n and_o against_o all_o those_o which_o have_v unjust_o afflict_a us._n for_o he_o it_o be_v that_o must_v take_v in_o hand_n all_o just_a cause_n we_o have_v need_v then_o too_o assure_v ourselves_o of_o this_o but_o from_o whence_o shall_v we_o learn_v this_o even_o out_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n because_o he_o have_v leave_v unto_o we_o a_o testimony_n thereof_o in_o it_o as_o we_o see_v that_o david_n speak_v not_o here_o at_o a_o wild_a adventure_n but_o have_v already_o ground_v himself_o upon_o a_o good_a foundation_n whereon_o he_o have_v settle_v himself_o now_o it_o follow_v salvation_n be_v far_o from_o the_o ungodly_a because_o they_o seek_v not_o thy_o statute_n and_o afterward_o he_o say_v great_a be_v thy_o tender_a mercy_n o_o lord_n quicken_v i_o according_a to_o thy_o judgement_n now_o here_o be_v two_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v off_o the_o one_o be_v that_o david_n tell_v the_o reason_n why_o all_o the_o contemner_n of_o god_n and_o all_o that_o rebel_n against_o his_o majesty_n run_v headlong_o into_o destruction_n and_o that_o he_o forsake_v they_o that_o they_o feel_v no_o taste_n nor_o ease_n in_o their_o affliction_n but_o that_o god_n clere_o forsake_v they_o david_n set_v down_o here_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o this_o it_o be_v say_v he_o because_o they_o have_v not_o seek_v after_o thy_o law_n and_o therefore_o be_v far_o from_o thy_o salvation_n now_o he_o clean_o contrary_a protest_v of_o himself_o that_o he_o follow_v the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o keep_v it_o in_o his_o heart_n so_o then_o we_o must_v needs_o conclude_v that_o he_o can_v not_o be_v estrange_v from_o it_o in_o very_a deed_n this_o sentence_n at_o the_o first_o sight_n be_v somewhat_o dark_a but_o i_o will_v make_v it_o plain_a in_o three_o word_n and_o then_o by_o little_a and_o little_o show_v what_o doctrine_n we_o be_v too_o gather_v out_o of_o this_o when_o any_o tell_v we_o of_o our_o salvation_n we_o must_v in_o the_o first_o place_n know_v whence_o it_o proceed_v to_o wit_n from_o god_n and_o that_o there_o be_v no_o salvation_n but_o in_o he_o in_o so_o much_o that_o so_o long_o as_o god_n be_v good_a and_o gracious_a unto_o we_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o all_o must_v go_v very_o well_o on_o our_o side_n and_o be_v assure_v that_o our_o life_n be_v bless_v and_o that_o we_o shall_v want_v nothing_o that_o be_v meet_v for_o our_o welfare_n and_o felicity_n so_o then_o our_o salvation_n and_o all_o fullness_n and_o perfection_n of_o benefit_n consist_v in_o this_o one_o only_a point_n that_o god_n love_v we_o and_o receive_v we_o unto_o himself_o and_o since_o it_o be_v so_o let_v we_o now_o consider_v what_o he_o be_v who_o god_n will_v forsake_v once_o we_o be_v his_o creature_n and_o even_o as_o he_o have_v create_v and_o fashion_v we_o so_o also_o will_v he_o continne_v his_o goodness_n towards_o us._n now_o see_v that_o his_o mercy_n extend_v even_o to_o brute_n beast_n even_o to_o the_o most_o vile_a and_o abject_a thing_n yea_o even_a which_o we_o contemn_v and_o disdain_v once_o to_o look_v on_o see_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n extend_v so_o far_o as_o the_o holy_a scripture_n teach_v we_o how_o can_v it_o be_v that_o he_o will_v forsake_v we_o yea_o unto_o who_o he_o have_v grant_v so_o great_a dignity_n and_o excellency_n for_o we_o have_v a_o thing_n excel_v all_o other_o his_o creature_n which_o be_v this_o that_o god_n have_v imprinted-his_a own_o similitude_n and_o likeness_n in_o we_o now_o when_o as_o he_o have_v exalt_v we_o unto_o so_o high_a a_o degree_n of_o honour_n will_v he_o think_v you_o now_o forsake_v we_o he_o will_v not_o without_o all_o doubt_n what_o be_v the_o cause_n then_o that_o we_o see_v so_o many_o caitiff_n and_o miserable_a wretch_n which_o be_v even_o give_v over_o so_o that_o god_n send_v they_o not_o so_o much_o as_o the_o jest_n aid_n and_o comfort_n that_o it_o seem_v that_o he_o have_v set_v they_o as_o it_o be_v upon_o a_o stage_n to_o be_v a_o shame_n and_o rebuke_v to_o the_o whole_a world_n whence_o come_v this_o forsooth_o because_o they_o withdraw_v themselves_o from_o god_n for_o when_o as_o they_o withdraw_v not_o themselves_o from_o he_o it_o be_v most_o sure_a that_o then_o he_o show_v himself_o unto_o they_o such_o a_o one_o as_o indeed_o he_o be_v of_o his_o own_o nature_n that_o be_v love_v kind_a pitiful_a gentle_a &_o merciful_a to_o be_v short_a so_o long_o as_o we_o will_v be_v order_v by_o he_o as_o his_o child_n it_o be_v most_o sure_a that_o he_o will_v play_v the_o part_n of_o a_o father_n towards_o we_o so_o long_o as_o we_o will_v yield_v our_o obedience_n unto_o he_o he_o will_v entreat_v we_o gentle_o but_o when_o we_o be_v so_o perverse_a as_o that_o we_o will_v not_o submit_v ourselves_o neither_o unto_o himself_o nor_o yet_o unto_o his_o word_n but_o contemn_v his_o love_n &_o grace_n offer_v unto_o we_o be_v it_o reason_n that_o god_n shall_v put_v forth_o his_o hand_n to_o help_v we_o be_v it_o meet_v he_o shall_v entreat_v we_o as_o his_o child_n and_o account_v we_o in_o the_o number_n of_o those_o which_o whole_o dedicate_v themselves_o unto_o his_o majesty_n no_o not_o so_o but_o we_o rather_o be_v worthy_a to_o be_v set_v far_o from_o he_o and_o too_o have_v nothing_o at_o all_o to_o do_v with_o he_o loe_o here_o the_o meaning_n of_o david_n in_o this_o place_n when_o he_o say_v o_o lord_n health_n be_v far_o from_o the_o ungodly_a because_o they_o regard_v not_o thy_o statute_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v we_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v abash_v o_o lord_n although_o thou_o give_v we_o over_o and_o that_o we_o feel_v no_o succour_n of_o thy_o goodness_n but_o that_o we_o languish_v in_o all_o misery_n and_o calamity_n and_o why_o so_o because_o we_o have_v forsake_v and_o refuse_v thy_o grace_n and_o therefore_o of_o very_a right_n we_o ought_v to_o be_v confound_v and_o come_v to_o naught_o now_o i_o pray_v you_o tell_v we_o what_o mean_v it_o that_o god_n will_v not_o be_v nigh_o we_o but_o by_o mean_n of_o his_o word_n we_o must_v needs_o feel_v his_o goodness_n by_o the_o effect_n yea_o forsooth_o and_o yet_o god_n come_v nigh_o unto_o we_o by_o his_o word_n for_o that_o be_v a_o preparative_n by_o which_o he_o fashion_v our_o heart_n to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v show_v himself_o
to_o be_v a_o merciful_a father_n unto_o us._n and_o so_o he_o make_v a_o entrance_n into_o our_o heart_n for_o his_o mercy_n that_o we_o may_v be_v capable_a to_o enjoy_v his_o benefit_n see_v then_o it_o be_v so_o that_o god_n by_o his_o word_n show_v himself_o and_o also_o come_v nigh_o unto_o we_o we_o must_v not_o be_v abash_v although_o they_o which_o refuse_v his_o word_n yea_o which_o so_o according_a unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n it_o be_v very_o true_a he_o use_v the_o word_n judgement_n but_o all_o come_v to_o one_o as_o we_o have_v already_o heretofore_o declare_v quicken_v i_o then_o according_a to_o thy_o judgement_n say_v he_o yea_o which_o i_o have_v love_v but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o show_v we_o how_o it_o be_v that_o god_n have_v promise_v to_o quicken_v we_o all_o whatsoever_o concern_v our_o estate_n &_o salvation_n it_o be_v because_o he_o be_v good_a and_o never_o seek_v the_o cause_n otherwise_o but_o in_o his_o goodness_n when_o then_o we_o be_v enforce_v to_o confess_v that_o it_o be_v god_n which_o maintain_v we_o we_o must_v also_o forthwith_o confess_v that_o god_n have_v do_v it_o for_o his_o promise_n sake_n and_o for_o that_o he_o but_o meaning_n to_o declare_v that_o it_o come_v altogether_o free_o he_o show_v that_o god_n be_v not_o move_v too_o make_v any_o such_o promise_n ne_o yet_o be_v induce_v by_o any_o occasion_n
