third_o and_o last_o chapter_n of_o this_o prophet_n joel_n contain_v a_o most_o lamentable_a destruction_n of_o mankind_n namely_o of_o those_o which_o be_v the_o swear_v enemy_n to_o the_o church_n of_o god_n which_o can_v choose_v but_o move_v a_o heart_n of_o stone_n to_o exceed_a sorrow_n and_o abundant_a tear_n to_o consider_v that_o so_o many_o brave_a man_n stately_a king_n warlike_a soldier_n honourable_a person_n rich_a possessor_n beautiful_a woman_n and_o innocent_a young_a child_n as_o it_o may_v seem_v shall_v be_v violent_o drive_v and_o draw_v unto_o the_o slaughter-house_n of_o woeful_a destruction_n oh_o how_o may_v man_n forrowe_v that_o they_o be_v so_o bear_v to_o be_v enemy_n to_o god_n and_o so_o live_v that_o they_o hurt_v themselves_o and_o so_o shall_v die_v as_o they_o condemn_v their_o soul_n for_o their_o blood_n be_v worse_a than_o water_n their_o flesh_n be_v vile_a than_o dung_n their_o heart_n be_v base_a than_o the_o earth_n and_o they_o be_v only_o create_v that_o they_o may_v be_v destroy_v in_o the_o handle_n of_o this_o chapter_n we_o will_v observe_v this_o method_n first_o the_o time_n when_o the_o enemy_n of_o the_o church_n shall_v be_v discuss_v and_o second_o the_o manner_n the_o time_n be_v set_v forth_o in_o this_o vers_fw-la to_o be_v then_o when_o the_o lord_n shall_v bring_v again_o the_o captivity_n of_o judah_n and_o jerusalem_n that_o be_v when_o he_o shall_v deliver_v they_o from_o all_o manner_n of_o thraldom_n for_o behold_v the_o prophet_n after_o the_o usual_a manner_n of_o which_o only_o affect_v a_o man_n while_o he_o hear_v the_o sound_n but_o it_o must_v be_v like_o a_o physician_n potion_n which_o work_v in_o the_o body_n many_o day_n after_o it_o be_v take_v but_o what_o do_v i_o talk_v of_o day_n as_o jonathan_n love_v david_n when_o he_o neither_o see_v he_o nor_o hear_v he_o so_o must_v we_o love_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o think_v thereon_o when_o we_o know_v and_o fear_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v to_o come_v so_o that_o in_o this_o sort_n thou_o must_v persuade_v thyself_o if_o thou_o hear_v the_o preacher_n tell_v of_o any_o plague_n then_o think_v with_o thyself_o that_o thou_o now_o behold_v it_o a_o far_o off_o &_o therefore_o it_o will_v certain_o come_v believe_v the_o lord_n and_o his_o prophet_n say_a jehoshaphat_n and_o you_o shall_v prosper_v but_o alas_o our_o dull_a heart_a hearer_n will_v believe_v no_o more_o than_o they_o see_v will_v fear_v no_o more_o than_o they_o feel_v nor_o be_v righteous_a any_o long_a than_o they_o be_v in_o affliction_n death_n be_v far_o off_o they_o care_v not_o for_o it_o and_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n will_v be_v god_n know_v when_o and_o therefore_o if_o their_o time_n be_v so_o long_o they_o think_v it_o will_v be_v never_o oh_o wretch_n behold_v present_o before_o your_o eye_n how_o the_o lord_n come_v how_o the_o sword_n waste_v how_o the_o blood_n run_v how_o vengeance_n increase_v how_o christ_n condemn_v and_o all_o thing_n be_v overturn_v if_o thou_o can_v so_o behold_v the_o come_n misery_n and_o with_o tear_n lament_v they_o as_o if_o they_o be_v present_a thou_o shall_v likewise_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n so_o behold_v the_o come_n joy_n of_o another_o life_n &_o with_o hart_n rejoice_v as_o if_o now_o thou_o
