be_v necessary_a if_o we_o consider_v the_o dignity_n of_o his_o office_n it_o behove_v he_o to_o differ_v from_o the_o former_a priest_n under_o the_o law_n and_o if_o he_o have_v not_o be_v without_o sin_n he_o shall_v not_o have_v so_o differ_v from_o they_o 4._o it_o be_v necessary_a for_o the_o person_n for_o who_o he_o undertake_v these_o office_n such_o a_o high_a priest_n become_v people_n but_o christ_n be_v holy_a and_o blameless_a and_o have_v no_o sin_n and_o it_o behove_v he_o to_o be_v so_o as_o i_o say_v just_a now_o his_o sacrifice_n can_v never_o have_v be_v accept_v for_o other_o if_o he_o have_v need_v to_o offer_v up_o sacrifice_n for_o himself_o the_o uses_n be_v these_o not_o to_o speak_v how_o it_o vindicat_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n from_o all_o these_o aspersion_n cast_v upon_o he_o by_o wicked_a man_n who_o call_v he_o a_o glutton_n a_o wine-bibber_n a_o friend_n of_o publican_n and_o sinner_n a_o deceiver_n etc._n etc._n he_o
with_o you_o either_o think_v on_o the_o right_a way_n which_o be_v by_o put_v christ_n in_o in_o your_o room_n and_o lay_v of_o religion_n to_o the_o heart_n in_o sad_a earnest_n or_o dream_v not_o of_o come_v to_o heaven_n a_o second_o sort_v be_v they_o who_o be_v not_o altogether_o so_o profane_a as_o the_o other_o but_o will_v condemn_v they_o as_o indeed_o the_o practice_n of_o many_o be_v loathsome_a they_o will_v it_o may_v be_v pray_v in_o their_o family_n and_o will_v not_o be_v drink_v neither_o will_v they_o swear_v nor_o lie_v and_o they_o will_v walk_v blameless_o and_o upon_o these_o ground_n they_o promise_v heaven_n to_o themselves_o very_o confident_o and_o yet_o they_o come_v not_o through_o the_o sense_n of_o their_o sinful_a and_o curse_a state_n by_o nature_n to_o close_o with_o christ_n by_o faith_n and_o to_o make_v use_n of_o his_o sacrifice_n such_o err_v on_o the_o other_o hand_n oh_o when_o shall_v we_o be_v at_o this_o not_o to_o neglect_v the_o study_n of_o holiness_n and_o yet_o not_o to_o rest_v on_o it_o to_o the_o prejudice_n of_o this_o one_o offer_v this_o be_v a_o a_o practice_n suitable_a to_o and_o worthy_a of_o professor_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o be_v serious_o aim_v at_o all_o duty_n of_o holiness_n that_o be_v call_v for_o and_o yet_o to_o be_v build_v all_o their_o expectation_n of_o any_o good_a from_o god_n on_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o christ_n alone_o never_o come_v to_o god_n without_o bring_v it_o along_o with_o they_o and_o look_v through_o it_o to_o be_v accept_v before_o he_o there_o n_o ed_n no_o more_o and_o do_v it_o as_o we_o have_v it_o heb._n 10._o christ_n jesus_n by_o his_o once_o offer_v up_o of_o himself_o perfect_v for_o ever_o these_o who_o be_v sanctify_v and_o act._n 4._o there_o be_v no_o other_o name_n give_v under_o heaven_n whereby_o sinner_n can_v be_v save_v but_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n the_o use_n be_v to_o commend_v and_o to_o demonstrat_n to_o we_o all_o the_o necessity_n of_o the_o use_v make_v of_o this_o one_o offer_v of_o christ_n if_o he_o be_v the_o one_o offer_v to_o take_v away_o sin_n and_o if_o no_o other_o will_v be_v accept_v then_o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n that_o he_o in_o his_o offer_n of_o himself_o be_v make_v use_n of_o if_o all_o be_v under_o sin_n and_o if_o by_o the_o law_n sin_n and_o death_n be_v knit_v inseparable_o together_o as_o it_o be_v say_v the_o wage_n of_o sin_n be_v death_n and_o if_o freedom_n from_o sin_n and_o wrath_n and_o peace_n with_o god_n be_v necessary_a then_o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n that_o sinner_n be_v serious_a in_o this_o matter_n to_o get_v a_o title_n to_o and_o interest_n in_o this_o one_o offer_v and_o sacrifice_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o prosecute_n of_o the_o use_n we_o shall_v speak_v a_o little_a to_o these_o four_o thing_n 1._o to_o some_o ground_n or_o reason_n to_o show_v the_o necessity_n of_o sinner_n use_v make_v of_o christ_n sacrifice_n or_o offer_v 2._o to_o this_o what_o it_o be_v to_o make_v use_n of_o this_o offer_n 3._o we_o shall_v give_v a_o word_n of_o advertisement_n as_o to_o some_o mistake_n that_o be_v about_o it_o 4._o we_o shall_v give_v some_o difference_v character_n or_o evidence_n of_o a_o person_n that_o be_v make_v right_o use_v of_o this_o offer_n for_o obtain_v of_o pardon_n and_o for_o make_v of_o this_o peace_n with_o god_n for_o the_o first_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n to_o evince_v the_o necessity_n of_o it_o the_o 1._o of_o they_o be_v that_o which_o we_o hint_v at_o just_a now_o if_o man_n be_v not_o lie_v under_o sin_n and_o obnoxious_a to_o wrath_n and_o if_o there_o be_v any_o other_o sin-offering_a or_o any_o other_o way_n or_o mean_v to_o escape_v the_o curse_n and_o wrath_n of_o god_n due_a for_o sin_n there_o be_v no_o such_o necessity_n but_o see_v that_o all_o man_n be_v under_o sin_n and_o under_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n and_o his_o wrath_n because_o of_o it_o and_o see_v there_o be_v no_o other_o thing_n that_o can_v take_v away_o sin_n then_o there_o be_v a_o absolute_a necessity_n serious_o to_o make_v use_n of_o and_o to_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o this_o sin-offering_a 2._o consider_v that_o the_o great_a part_n of_o man_n in_o the_o world_n and_o even_o of_o they_o that_o hear_v this_o gospel_n do_v not_o indeed_o make_v use_n of_o this_o offer_n though_o they_o be_v some_o way_n under_o the_o conviction_n that_o they_o be_v sinner_n and_o that_o this_o be_v the_o only_a sin_n offer_v to_o take_v away_o sin_n and_o we_o suppose_v if_o you_o be_v all_o put_v to_o it_o you_o can_v not_o deny_v but_o you_o be_v sinner_n and_o that_o nothing_o can_v take_v away_o sin_n but_o christ_n offer_v up_o of_o himself_o as_o a_o sacrifice_n to_o satisfy_v justice_n though_o some_o be_v that_o gross_o ignorant_a that_o they_o will_v speak_v of_o some_o other_o thing_n yet_o general_o these_o that_o own_o and_o maintain_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v under_o a_o conviction_n that_o no_o other_o thing_n can_v take_v away_o sin_n and_o yet_o even_o among_o these_o there_o be_v many_o that_o never_o make_v use_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o his_o sacrifice_n to_o take_v away_o their_o sin_n to_o remove_v wrath_n and_o make_v their_o peace_n with_o god_n there_o be_v many_o jew_n who_o by_o the_o daily_a sacrifice_n which_o type_v forth_o this_o one_o offer_v of_o christ_n be_v teach_v that_o there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n to_o come_v by_o pardon_n and_o peace_n with_o god_n but_o there_o use_v make_v of_o it_o and_o yet_o the_o most_o part_n of_o they_o in_o go_v about_o these_o sacrifice_n be_v slighter_n of_o this_o one_o sacrifice_n therefore_o the_o apostle_n say_v of_o they_o rom._n 100l_n â—3_n that_o be_v ignorant_a of_o god_n righteousness_n they_o go_v about_o to_o establish_v their_o own_o righteousness_n and_o do_v not_o submit_v themselves_o unto_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n it_o be_v as_o certain_a that_o many_o that_o hear_v this_o gospel_n and_o profess_v christ_n to_o be_v the_o only_a sin-offering_a will_v be_v disow_v of_o he_o on_o this_o account_n therefore_o many_o be_v bring_v in_o saylng_v luk._n 13._o do_v we_o not_o hear_v thou_o preach_v in_o our_o street_n have_v we_o not_o eat_v and_o drunken_a in_o thy_o presence_n to_o who_o he_o will_v say_v depart_v from_o i_o i_o never_o know_v you_o you_o worker_n shall_v be_v reconcile_v 3._o wherefore_o be_v the_o many_o expostulation_n with_o sinner_n that_o they_o will_v not_o come_v unto_o christ_n for_o life_n that_o they_o will_v not_o be_v gather_v do_v to_o the_o lord_n even_o to_o receive_v life_n from_o he_o this_o be_v no_o hard_a nor_o hurtful_a no_o unreasonable_a nor_o rigid_a request_n i_o be_o sure_a all_o that_o he_o require_v of_o gospel_n that_o we_o may_v to_o speak_v so_o with_o reverence_n put_v a_o obligation_n on_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n in_o make_v sure_a in_o this_o his_o own_o way_n the_o salvation_n of_o our_o own_o soul_n and_o that_o we_o can_v not_o do_v he_o a_o better_a turn_n but_o i_o pray_v take_v the_o expression_n right_o for_o we_o can_v set_v forth_o his_o love_n but_o in_o our_o own_o language_n which_o come_v infinite_o far_o short_a of_o the_o thing_n we_o can_v not_o find_v in_o our_o heart_n to_o refuse_v to_o grant_v such_o a_o love_a and_o high_o rational_a a_o requist_n as_o it_o be_v sure_a then_o upon_o the_o one_o side_n that_o we_o can_v do_v that_o which_o will_v please_v he_o better_o so_o it_o be_v as_o sure_a on_o the_o other_o side_n that_o we_o can_v do_v that_o which_o will_v displease_v he_o more_o then_o to_o slight_v his_o counsel_n in_o this_o though_o we_o will_v give_v our_o body_n to_o be_v burn_v and_o all_o our_o good_n to_o the_o poor_a he_o will_v not_o count_v it_o a_o pleasure_n do_v he_o if_o this_o be_v not_o do_v we_o will_v look_v upon_o this_o as_o low_a condescendencie_n and_o great_a grace_n in_o the_o lord_n that_o he_o seek_v no_o so_o as_o they_o may_v be_v accept_v of_o god_n on_o his_o account_n the_o day_n be_v come_v when_o every_o man_n work_n will_v be_v reward_v and_o as_o we_o sow_v so_o shall_v we_o reap_v in_o that_o day_n if_o we_o have_v all_o the_o world_n we_o will_v give_v it_o to_o hear_v that_o word_n from_o christ_n mouth_n well_o do_v thou_o good_a and_o faithful_a servant_n but_o jew_n will_v get_v of_o it_o wonder_v at_o this_o will_v it_o not_o be_v a_o glorious_a day_n when_o christ_n be_v crown_v and_o have_v all_o redeem_a sinner_n at_o his_o back_n with_o harp_n in_o their_o hand_n singing_z salvation_n glory_n and_o power_n to_o the_o lamb_n o_o wonder_n that_o there_o be_v not_o only_o a_o saviour_n and_o life_n and_o salvation_n to_o be_v have_v through_o he_o but_o that_o it_o be_v such_o a_o salvation_n as_o be_v wonderful_a in_o this_o respect_n that_o he_o count_v it_o his_o glory_n and_o triumph_n to_o have_v many_o sinner_n save_v when_o he_o may_v have_v glorify_v himself_o in_o send_v we_o all_o to_o hell_n may_v we_o not_o wonder_v at_o this_o and_o yet_o we_o ought_v to_o believe_v it_o and_o the_o little_a faith_n of_o it_o make_v it_o be_v so_o little_o wonder_v at_o ah_o sinner_n for_o most_o part_n believe_v not_o that_o christ_n think_v
when_o it_o come_v to_o be_v accomplish_v though_o he_o give_v evidence_n of_o his_o power_n in_o make_v they_o fall_v backward_o who_o come_v to_o apprehend_v he_o yet_o he_o raise_v they_o again_o and_o go_v with_o they_o and_o when_o they_o mock_v he_o and_o buffet_v he_o and_o nod_v the_o head_n at_o he_o and_o bring_v he_o to_o the_o bar_n and_o question_v he_o and_o when_o they_o say_v if_o thou_o be_v the_o king_n of_o israel_n come_v down_o from_o the_o cross_n and_o we_o will_v believe_v on_o thou_o which_o we_o may_v think_v he_o can_v have_v do_v though_o they_o be_v but_o tempt_v it_o as_o to_o pour_v it_o out_o there_o have_v never_o be_v such_o a_o precious_a life_n and_o so_o precious_a blood_n pour_v out_o this_o be_v much_o more_o use_v it_o show_v what_o esteem_v you_o shall_v have_v of_o soul_n and_o every_o one_o of_o you_o of_o your_o own_o soul_n our_o lord_n jesus_n pour_v out_o his_o soul_n unto_o death_n for_o soul_n he_o value_v soul_n so_o much_o that_o he_o give_v his_o precious_a life_n for_o they_o therefore_o it_o be_v say_v 1_o pet._n 1.19_o we_o be_v not_o redeem_v with_o corruptible_a thing_n as_o silver_n and_o gold_n but_o with_o the_o precious_a blood_n of_o christ_n if_o he_o esteem_v so_o much_o of_o soulâ—_n what_o will_v it_o be_v think_v of_o when_o you_o waste_v your_o soul_n and_o you_o know_v not_o whereon_o he_o buy_v betwixt_o christ_n estimation_n of_o soul_n and_o you_o betwixt_o his_o buy_v they_o at_o so_o dear_a a_o rate_n and_o your_o cast_v they_o away_o for_o that_o which_o be_v very_a vanity_n what_o do_v the_o most_o part_n of_o you_o get_v for_o your_o soul_n some_o a_o bit_n land_n some_o a_o house_n some_o a_o fecklesse_a pleasure_n some_o a_o sport_n some_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o their_o lust_n or_o a_o moment_n sinful_a mirth_n o_o pitiful_o poor_a bargain_n what_o will_v become_v of_o that_o mirth_n or_o lust_n or_o pleasure_n of_o this_o house_n or_o of_o that_o land_n when_o king_n and_o great_a man_n will_v lie_v crawl_v like_v so_o many_o worm_n before_o the_o lamb_n you_o will_v not_o get_v your_o house_n or_o land_n with_o you_o you_o will_v not_o get_v leave_n to_o wear_v your_o brave_a clothes_n you_o will_v have_v no_o silver_n nor_o gold_n in_o your_o purse_n in_o that_o day_n and_o suppose_v you_o have_v it_o the_o redemption_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v precious_a and_o cease_v for_o ever_o by_o any_o such_o price_n it_o be_v a_o wonderful_a thing_n that_o when_o christ_n esteem_v so_o much_o of_o soul_n that_o sinner_n shall_v esteem_v so_o little_a of_o they_o be_v it_o not_o just_a that_o such_o soul_n shall_v go_v to_o hell_n when_o they_o esteem_v they_o so_o little_a worth_n use_v 2._o it_o shall_v teach_v you_o to_o love_n and_o hearty_o to_o welcome_v this_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n what_o argument_n of_o love_n and_o of_o trust_n what_o motive_n to_o welcome_v he_o can_v there_o be_v if_o this_o be_v not_o that_o he_o spare_v not_o his_o life_n but_o pour_v it_o out_o unto_o death_n for_o sinner_n how_o long_o shall_v we_o halt_v betwixt_o christ_n and_o belial_n we_o thou_fw-mi not_o endure_v to_o mortify_v a_o lust_n to_o want_v our_o sport_n and_o laughter_n or_o a_o bit_n of_o our_o credit_n or_o honour_n though_o it_o shall_v cost_v we_o the_o want_n of_o christ_n but_o o_o ingrate_a fool_n be_v that_o a_o become_a requital_n to_o he_o that_o take_v his_o innocent_a soul_n in_o his_o hand_n and_o pour_v it_o out_o for_o sinner_n and_o when_o it_o be_v some_o way_n melt_v like_v leid_v in_o the_o fire_n of_o god_n wrath_n be_v content_a to_o yet_o it_o forth_o abundant_o out_o of_o love_n to_o their_o salvation_n shall_v it_o not_o rather_o call_v for_o love_n to_o he_o for_o trust_v and_o welcome_v of_o he_o and_o to_o suffer_v for_o his_o sake_n if_o he_o call_v you_o to_o it_o will_v you_o scar_n to_o hazard_v your_o life_n for_o he_o that_o pour_v out_o his_o soul_n for_o sinner_n it_o will_v do_v a_o soul_n good_a to_o think_v how_o willing_o and_o cheerful_o he_o suffer_v but_o alace_o how_o reluctant_o and_o unwilling_o come_v we_o under_o suffer_v for_o he_o however_o let_v i_o commend_v these_o three_o word_n to_o you_o 1._o love_v he_o for_o even_o publican_n will_v love_v these_o that_o love_v they_o and_o give_v christ_n love_n for_o love_n 2._o credit_n and_o trust_v he_o do_v not_o look_v for_o ill_a at_o his_o hand_n what_o ground_n be_v there_o to_o suspect_v he_o it_o be_v his_o glory_n to_o do_v good_a to_o sinner_n and_o he_o count_v they_o his_o triumph_n and_o spoil_v and_o to_o make_v conquest_n of_o they_o he_o pour_v out_o his_o soul_n unto_o death_n or_o as_o the_o word_n be_v phil._n 2._o he_o empty_v himself_o which_o seem_v to_o look_v to_o this_o word_n of_o the_o prophet_n and_o be_v not_o that_o warrant_n sufficient_a for_o you_o to_o trust_v and_o credit_v he_o and_o to_o lay_v the_o weight_n of_o what_o concern_v you_o upon_o he_o and_o 3._o welcome_a he_o which_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o faith_n and_o love_n he_o be_v a_o sweet_a wooer_n he_o be_v that_o good_a shepherd_n that_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o his_o sheep_n he_o give_v himself_o for_o his_o church_n as_o it_o be_v ephes_n 5._o therefore_o i_o say_v welcome_v he_o this_o be_v the_o great_a thing_n the_o gospel_n aim_v at_o such_o expression_n be_v a_o great_a deepth_n and_o it_o will_v require_v time_n to_o read_v to_o ponder_v they_o and_o to_o wonder_v at_o they_o and_o we_o will_v be_v much_o in_o pray_v for_o a_o right_a uptake_n of_o they_o 3_o from_o the_o connexion_n because_o he_o have_v pour_v out_o his_o soul_n unto_o death_n observe_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n his_o willing_a condescend_v to_o die_v be_v most_o acceptable_a to_o the_o father_n therefore_o he_o say_v i_o will_v give_v he_o a_o portion_n with_o the_o great_a and_o be_v shall_v divide_v the_o spoil_n with_o the_o strong_a because_o he_o have_v do_v so_o and_o so_o and_o all_o the_o promise_v make_v to_o he_o confirm_v this_o that_o be_v a_o wonderful_a word_n john_n 10.17_o therefore_o do_v my_o father_n love_v i_o because_o i_o lay_v down_o my_o life_n for_o the_o sheâ—p_n the_o only_o beget_v and_o belove_a son_n of_o the_o father_n can_v but_o be_v love_v yet_o he_o say_v therefore_o or_o on_o this_o account_n do_v my_o father_n love_v i_o that_o be_v love_v a_o cheerful_a giver_n and_o cheerfulness_n in_o any_o duty_n it_o be_v much_o we_o have_v this_o word_n to_o speak_v of_o to_o you_o many_o nation_n never_o hear_v it_o and_o you_o will_v make_v some_o other_o use_v of_o it_o then_o if_o you_o have_v never_o hear_v it_o o_o but_o it_o will_v be_v dreadful_a to_o such_o as_o have_v hear_v it_o and_o do_v slight_a it_o their_o soul_n shall_v be_v pour_v out_o into_o hell_n even_o squize_v and_o wring_v eternal_o by_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n therefore_o look_v not_o light_o on_o it_o do_v not_o think_v all_o this_o transaction_n of_o grace_n to_o be_v for_o nought_o if_o we_o be_v serious_a we_o will_v wonder_v what_o it_o mean_v alace_o we_o think_v little_a or_o nothing_o to_o make_v our_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o yet_o all_o this_o business_n be_v ere_o the_o matter_n can_v be_v bring_v about_o it_o be_v a_o great_a evidence_n of_o the_o stupidity_n senslessenesse_n and_o absurd_a unblief_n of_o many_o that_o they_o
