have_v swallow_v up_o all_o god_n revenge_v wrath_n and_o the_o curse_n i_o but_o do_v god_n wrath_n hinder_v i_o from_o have_v the_o fruit_n of_o god_n love_n you_o will_v say_v it_o come_v from_o love_n therefore_o god_n chastise_v not_o for_o sin_n no_o why_o all_o god_n revenge_v wrath_n may_v be_v go_v and_o yet_o god_n may_v chastise_v for_o sin_n and_o chastise_v out_o of_o love_n too_o at_o the_o same_o instant_n you_o know_v it_o be_v say_v of_o zachary_n because_o he_o do_v not_o believe_v the_o scripture_n say_v in_o luke_n 1._o for_o this_o cause_n thou_o shall_v be_v dumb_a we_o find_v such_o a_o kind_n of_o promise_n as_o this_o be_v in_o the_o text_n in_o jer._n 6.16_o verse_n thus_o say_v the_o lord_n stand_v in_o the_o way_n and_o see_v and_o ask_v for_o the_o old_a path_n where_o the_o good_a way_n be_v and_o walk_v therein_o and_o you_o shall_v find_v rest_n for_o your_o soul_n inquire_v after_o the_o good_a way_n and_o you_o shall_v find_v rest_n for_o your_o soul_n so_o that_o you_o see_v god_n propound_v duty_n together_o with_o promise_n the_o lord_n know_v what_o be_v best_a for_o we_o and_o what_o will_v work_v most_o upon_o we_o and_o therefore_o for_o we_o to_o think_v that_o we_o must_v have_v no_o aim_n at_o all_o of_o any_o good_a to_o ourselves_o in_o come_v to_o christ_n and_o that_o it_o be_v no_o grace_n but_o self-love_n to_o come_v former_o the_o lord_n have_v make_v they_o willing_a to_o deny_v their_o own_o opinion_n their_o own_o will_n their_o own_o affection_n their_o former_a way_n to_o deny_v themselves_o in_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n so_o as_o to_o prize_v he_o and_o christ_n and_o his_o way_n the_o way_n of_o christ_n more_o than_o they_o prize_v their_o very_a life_n here_o in_o this_o world_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o there_o come_v a_o temptation_n upon_o they_o i_o but_o you_o seek_v christ_n only_o to_o free_v you_o from_o hell_n and_o to_o save_v you_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v but_o self-love_n it_o be_v no_o true_a grace_n because_o that_o you_o aim_v at_o yourselves_o rather_o than_o christ_n the_o devil_n can_v prevail_v with_o a_o heart_n that_o be_v a_o undertake_n by_o surety_n this_o be_v a_o deliverance_n from_o the_o law_n whereas_o the_o law_n require_v perfect_a obedience_n at_o our_o hand_n in_o our_o own_o person_n their_o law_n require_v of_o the_o soul_n that_o it_o shall_v pay_v the_o debt_n in_o its_o own_o person_n the_o soul_n that_o sin_n shall_v die_v now_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o gospel_n come_v and_o tell_v thou_o to_o the_o law_n that_o be_v such_o satitfaction_n as_o the_o lawgiver_n himself_o do_v accept_v of_o which_o be_v only_o in_o christ_n not_o all_o that_o i_o can_v do_v can_v possible_o do_v it_o if_o i_o can_v conceive_v that_o god_n be_v so_o merciful_a as_o to_o accept_v of_o any_o thing_n i_o can_v do_v yet_o it_o can_v not_o be_v satisfaction_n to_o the_o law_n but_o now_o our_o deliverance_n from_o the_o law_n be_v in_o a_o way_n that_o be_v satisfaction_n unto_o the_o law_n and_o here_o now_o be_v ease_n that_o the_o soul_n be_v free_v so_o as_o the_o law_n be_v satisfy_v too_o ten_o whereas_o the_o law_n require_v constant_a obedience_n and_o if_o there_o be_v obedience_n to_o the_o end_n to_o the_o last_o act_n and_o the_o last_o act_n be_v sin_n all_o the_o other_o will_v be_v forget_v so_o as_o the_o soul_n will_v yet_o perish_v notwithstanding_o and_o the_o law_n can_v not_o assure_v any_o man_n of_o continuance_n to_o the_o end_n the_o law_n can_v never_o do_v it_o can_v not_o assure_v any_o so_o long_o as_o they_o be_v under_o the_o power_n of_o it_o though_o they_o have_v ability_n to_o obey_v and_o they_o go_v on_o according_a to_o their_o ability_n go_v on_o divers_a year_n yet_o they_o can_v never_o have_v assurance_n but_o that_o they_o may_v fall_v at_o last_o and_o so_o perish_v well_o but_o now_o come_v to_o christ_n there_o be_v not_o only_a satisfaction_n for_o what_o be_v past_a but_o a_o assurance_n of_o hold_v out_o unto_o the_o end_n a_o assurance_n that_o this_o covenant_n that_o thou_o be_v now_o come_v under_o in_o christ_n that_o there_o shall_v never_o be_v any_o forfiture_n of_o it_o and_o that_o be_v a_o mighty_a ease_n and_o rest_n the_o ground_n and_o foundation_n of_o divers_a of_o these_o thing_n be_v open_v several_a step_n of_o god_n grace_n in_o christ_n not_o only_o to_o see_v it_o in_o the_o lump_n but_o see_v how_o it_o stream_n in_o the_o particular_n of_o it_o to_o have_v these_o present_v before_o their_o soul_n it_o be_v a_o mighty_a help_n to_o their_o faith_n and_o comfort_n and_o this_o last_o that_o i_o have_v speak_v of_o it_o be_v not_o less_o than_o the_o rest_n but_o indeed_o it_o be_v the_o complete_n of_o all_o the_o former_a that_o the_o soul_n that_o come_v to_o christ_n have_v this_o rest_n in_o christ_n that_o it_o be_v bring_v into_o a_o covenant_n and_o with_o assurance_n that_o there_o shall_v never_o be_v any_o forfiture_n of_o that_o covenant_n for_o it_o be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o covenant_n that_o god_n shall_v give_v grace_n unto_o the_o soul_n so_o as_o be_v shall_v never_o come_v to_o forfeit_v to_o loose_v the_o blessing_n of_o the_o covenant_n they_o may_v for_o the_o present_a loose_a some_o comfort_n of_o the_o covenant_n but_o to_o be_v put_v from_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o covenant_n it_o shall_v never_o be_v it_o be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o purchase_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n that_o all_o that_o come_v to_o he_o shall_v never_o be_v cast_v off_o from_o he_o again_o it_o cost_v the_o blood_n of_o christ_n and_o this_o be_v a_o privilege_n that_o believer_n have_v more_o than_o ever_o adam_n have_v adam_n be_v under_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o he_o be_v able_a to_o keep_v the_o covenant_n i_o but_o adam_n never_o have_v this_o promise_n from_o god_n that_o he_o shall_v never_o forfeit_v it_o that_o he_o shall_v never_o so_o break_v the_o covenant_n as_o to_o be_v undo_v adam_n never_o have_v that_o promise_n but_o now_o all_o believer_n that_o be_v come_v to_o christ_n they_o have_v this_o engagement_n upon_o a_o sure_a ground_n for_o it_o be_v upon_o a_o dear_a purchase_n christ_n have_v lay_v down_o his_o blood_n for_o thou_o for_o this_o thing_n as_o well_o as_o any_o other_o thing_n that_o thy_o soul_n may_v come_v into_o a_o everlasting_a covenant_n never_o to_o be_v forfeit_v and_o now_o if_o all_o these_o particular_n be_v put_v together_o and_o these_o thing_n be_v make_v clear_a to_o the_o soul_n by_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n if_o there_o be_v a_o eye_n of_o faith_n to_o behold_v the_o reality_n of_o all_o these_o thing_n that_o i_o have_v persent_v to_o you_o i_o appeal_v to_o you_o be_v there_o not_o rest_v to_o those_o that_o come_v to_o christ_n be_v it_o not_o worth_a a_o great_a deal_n of_o pain_n to_o come_v to_o christ_n be_v there_o not_o that_o that_o will_v recompense_v all_o at_o last_o whatever_o trouble_v there_o be_v at_o first_o the_o work_n of_o humiliation_n and_o the_o like_a yet_o when_o you_o come_v to_o christ_n there_o be_v that_o that_o will_v recompense_v all_o your_o former_a trouble_n as_o i_o say_v before_o in_o the_o conclude_a of_o the_o other_o particular_a so_o may_v i_o say_v of_o this_o as_o it_o be_v in_o psalm_n 116._o and_o now_o my_o soul_n return_v unto_o thy_o rest_n so_o may_v all_o believer_n say_v upon_o good_a ground_n if_o these_o thing_n be_v true_a that_o we_o have_v now_o hear_v then_o my_o soul_n return_v unto_o thy_o rest_n for_o the_o lord_n have_v deal_v bountiful_o with_o thou_o indeed_o oh_o therefore_o be_v in_o love_n with_o the_o gospel_n study_v it_o much_o look_v unto_o the_o depth_n the_o gospel_n sound_v in_o his_o ear_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o tedious_a and_o grievous_a to_o he_o to_o hear_v the_o dreadful_a threaten_n of_o the_o law_n he_o know_v how_o to_o make_v a_o holy_a use_n of_o they_o his_o heart_n be_v draw_v near_o to_o god_n by_o it_o as_o well_o as_o by_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v a_o ill_a sign_n when_o man_n and_o woman_n can_v endure_v to_o hear_v the_o threaten_n of_o the_o law_n a_o dangerous_a sign_n that_o they_o be_v under_o those_o threaten_n if_o they_o be_v not_o under_o they_o it_o will_v not_o be_v troublesome_a to_o they_o to_o hear_v they_o but_o they_o that_o be_v deliver_v from_o they_o they_o know_v how_o to_o make_v use_n of_o they_o many_o man_n and_o woman_n will_v say_v when_o they_o hear_v of_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n what_o do_v this_o but_o harden_v we_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n do_v more_o harden_v we_o but_o if_o thou_o be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o gospel_n thou_o will_v be_v soften_v by_o hear_v of_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n because_o thou_o will_v prize_v christ_n more_o and_o therefore_o believer_n must_v not_o look_v upon_o they_o as_o thing_n that_o no_o way_n concern_v they_o though_o they_o be_v not_o under_o they_o to_o be_v cast_v by_o they_o yet_o they_o do_v concern_v they_o near_o and_o therefore_o god_n will_v have_v those_o thing_n reveal_v even_o to_o believer_n because_o of_o many_o gracious_a use_n that_o believer_n be_v to_o make_v of_o those_o thing_n the_o 2._o lesson_n second_o from_o what_o have_v be_v law_n and_o the_o bondage_n under_o it_o and_o then_o the_o rest_n that_o be_v to_o be_v have_v in_o christ_n this_o will_v teach_v thou_o to_o be_v sensible_a of_o thy_o own_o wretchedness_n and_o what_o a_o condition_n thou_o be_v in_o natural_o and_o yet_o how_o to_o be_v confident_a in_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n this_o will_v teach_v thou_o how_o to_o fear_v in_o regard_n of_o what_o thou_o be_v in_o thyself_o and_o yet_o to_o rejoice_v in_o regard_n of_o what_o thou_o be_v in_o jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o rest_n thy_o soul_n have_v get_v in_o jesus_n christ_n many_o people_n do_v not_o know_v how_o to_o mingle_v these_o two_o together_o if_o so_o be_v they_o be_v humble_v for_o their_o sin_n than_o they_o be_v deject_v in_o their_o spirit_n they_o can_v tell_v how_o to_o exercise_v humiliation_n for_o their_o sin_n and_o faith_n and_o confidence_n in_o god_n grace_n together_o they_o think_v the_o humiliation_n for_o sin_n will_v hinder_v god_n grace_n altogether_o in_o god_n grace_n and_o the_o other_o will_v bring_v they_o to_o despair_v certain_o thou_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o the_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n if_o thou_o do_v not_o understand_v how_o these_o two_o may_v stand_v together_o to_o be_v deep_o humble_v for_o thy_o sin_n and_o yet_o at_o the_o same_o instant_n of_o time_n the_o soul_n to_o be_v raise_v with_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n both_o together_o it_o be_v true_a vice_n be_v opposite_a one_o to_o another_o but_o grace_n be_v never_o opposite_a one_o to_o another_o those_o that_o understand_v the_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n they_o know_v how_o to_o mingle_v these_o two_o together_o at_o one_o and_o the_o same_o time_n you_o know_v that_o the_o scripture_n say_v that_o godliness_n be_v a_o mystery_n great_a be_v the_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n and_o indeed_o godliness_n consist_v in_o the_o skill_n that_o a_o christian_n come_v to_o have_v to_o know_v at_o the_o same_o time_n how_o to_o be_v humble_v and_o yet_o to_o be_v confident_a yet_o to_o be_v believe_v and_o one_o the_o other_o side_n to_o rejoice_v and_o yeat_a to_o fear_v many_o can_v rejoice_v but_o they_o grow_v loose_a and_o wanton_a with_o their_o joy_n and_o other_o can_v fear_v but_o their_o hair_n grow_v lumpish_a and_o dead_a if_o they_o do_v fear_n now_o the_o heart_n that_o understand_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v under_o the_o law_n natural_o and_o what_o rest_n christ_n have_v bring_v unto_o we_o in_o deliver_v we_o from_o the_o law_n can_v tell_v how_o to_o rejoice_v in_o tremble_v and_o to_o believe_v in_o humiliation_n and_o there_o be_v no_o such_o way_n to_o make_v such_o a_o mixture_n of_o both_o as_o to_o understand_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v natural_o under_o the_o law_n and_o what_o the_o rest_n be_v that_o we_o have_v in_o christ_n i_o confess_v these_o thing_n will_v not_o perhaps_o come_v so_o full_a upon_o the_o heart_n of_o those_o that_o do_v not_o in_o some_o measure_n remember_v what_o we_o have_v say_v heretofore_o both_o from_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o rest_n that_o we_o have_v in_o christ_n those_o will_v not_o be_v able_a to_o make_v so_o much_o use_v of_o this_o that_o i_o be_o speak_v of_o i_o can_v wish_v these_o thing_n will_v have_v come_v altogether_o but_o we_o can_v do_v all_o thing_n at_o once_o the_o three_o lesson_n three_o a_o further_a thing_n that_o be_v to_o be_v learn_v from_o the_o deliverance_n we_o have_v in_o christ_n from_o the_o law_n it_o be_v this_o here_o appear_v plain_o that_o the_o way_n of_o life_n and_o salvation_n be_v above_o nature_n it_o be_v supernatural_a for_o that_o that_o i_o have_v open_v in_o the_o rest_n we_o have_v in_o christ_n from_o the_o law_n teach_v you_o that_o believer_n be_v not_o to_o stand_v or_o fall_v for_o their_o eternal_a estate_n by_o any_o work_n of_o the_o law_n if_o they_o perform_v any_o work_n of_o the_o law_n this_o do_v not_o bring_v they_o to_o eternal_a life_n if_o they_o break_v the_o law_n this_o do_v not_o cast_v they_o down_o unto_o death_n therefore_o the_o way_n of_o life_n and_o salvation_n be_v supernatural_a for_o nature_n can_v teach_v a_o man_n no_o further_o than_o this_o that_o he_o must_v serve_v god_n &_o if_o he_o do_v thâ—_n god_n will_v bless_v he_o and_o love_v he_o and_o if_o he_o sin_n against_o god_n god_n not_o go_v upon_o such_o mean_a and_o low_a argument_n as_o you_o do_v mean_v and_o low_a argument_n may_v keep_v man_n in_o a_o orderly_a course_n to_o live_v quiet_o with_o their_o neighbour_n and_o keep_v they_o from_o thievery_n drunkenness_n swear_v and_o the_o like_a argument_n that_o the_o heathen_a have_v skill_n of_o may_v keep_v they_o from_o those_o thing_n but_o the_o saint_n believer_n that_o be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o way_n of_o christ_n they_o have_v high_a argument_n they_o behold_v he_o with_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n and_o so_o they_o come_v to_o have_v power_n against_o their_o sin_n and_o to_o have_v ease_n in_o their_o soul_n thus_o say_v christ_n come_v to_o i_o you_o have_v corruption_n prevail_v over_o you_o and_o you_o perhaps_o strive_v with_o they_o with_o such_o and_o such_o argument_n but_o come_v to_o i_o and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o such_o thing_n you_o shall_v see_v so_o much_o against_o sin_n and_o so_o much_o for_o holiness_n as_o that_o that_o kind_n of_o natural_a knowledge_n of_o god_n out_o of_o christ_n in_o behold_v the_o work_n of_o god_n we_o may_v know_v somewhat_o of_o he_o but_o as_o the_o scripture_n say_v in_o 1_o cor._n 1.21_o after_o that_o in_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n that_o be_v in_o the_o creature_n in_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n that_o shine_v in_o the_o creature_n the_o world_n by_o wisdom_n know_v not_o god_n the_o world_n by_o wisdom_n that_o be_v the_o world_n by_o all_o their_o natural_a understanding_n by_o all_o learning_n that_o philosopher_n have_v that_o see_v much_o of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n shine_v in_o the_o creature_n yet_o say_v the_o text_n by_o all_o their_o wisdom_n they_o know_v not_o god_n but_o yet_o it_o please_v god_n by_o the_o foolishness_n of_o preach_v to_o save_v they_o that_o believe_v and_o what_o preach_v be_v this_o verse_n 23._o we_o preach_v christ_n crucify_v etc._n etc._n so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o save_v knowledge_n but_o only_o in_o christ_n when_o the_o soul_n come_v to_o christ_n than_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n reveal_v the_o father_n to_o he_o reveals_z the_o counsel_n of_o god_n unto_o the_o soul_n reveal_v the_o very_a heart_n of_o god_n unto_o the_o soul_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o many_o poor_a people_n that_o be_v very_o ignorant_a before_o they_o come_v to_o know_v christ_n know_v little_a or_o nothing_o of_o god_n at_o all_o but_o have_v strange_a thought_n of_o god_n yet_o as_o soon_o as_o ever_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o gospel_n come_v to_o be_v reveal_v to_o they_o they_o begin_v to_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n high_a and_o honourable_a thought_n of_o god_n and_o those_o high_a and_o honourable_a thought_n of_o god_n do_v mighty_o prevail_v upon_o their_o heart_n to_o purge_v out_o sin_n and_o sanctify_v their_o heart_n exceed_o do_v but_o consider_v of_o those_o place_n where_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n have_v be_v but_o very_o little_a what_o poor_a thought_n they_o have_v of_o god_n they_o know_v not_o god_n and_o therefore_o they_o live_v in_o all_o manner_n of_o ungodliness_n but_o now_o when_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n come_v to_o any_o place_n and_o god_n come_v to_o be_v know_v there_o the_o devil_n be_v cast_v out_o and_o the_o heart_n of_o people_n be_v fill_v with_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n they_o come_v to_o be_v sanctify_v unto_o the_o service_n of_o god_n that_o be_v another_o thing_n it_o be_v christ_n that_o reveal_v the_o father_n unto_o the_o soul_n and_o so_o come_v for_o to_o sanctify_v the_o heart_n eight_o it_o be_v through_o christ_n that_o the_o love_n of_o god_n be_v shed_v abroad_o into_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o believer_n and_o that_o have_v a_o mighty_a power_n to_o sanctify_v the_o heart_n the_o shed_v abroad_o of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n into_o the_o heart_n this_o only_a can_v be_v in_o christ_n there_o may_v be_v though_o out_o of_o christ_n common_a fruit_n of_o god_n bounty_n general_a patience_n goodness_n and_o the_o like_a but_o the_o special_a love_n of_o god_n that_o have_v a_o sanctify_a power_n that_o go_v along_o with_o it_o it_o be_v that_o only_a that_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o when_o the_o soul_n come_v once_o to_o have_v union_n with_o christ_n there_o flow_v the_o sweet_a sense_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n unto_o the_o heart_n it_o be_v shed_v abroad_o according_a unto_o the_o scripture_n phrase_n that_o the_o heart_n be_v fill_v with_o the_o sweetness_n of_o god_n love_n and_o come_v to_o be_v sanctify_v thereby_o than_o all_o base_a love_n of_o the_o creature_n and_o the_o love_n of_o sin_n come_v to_o be_v eat_v out_o and_o the_o heart_n come_v to_o be_v carry_v on_o in_o a_o bless_a sweet_a and_o gracious_a manner_n after_o the_o lord_n al_n the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n can_v sanctify_v so_o as_o the_o shed_n abroad_o of_o the_o love_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o heart_n can_v indeed_o by_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o law_n sin_n may_v be_v restrain_v but_o by_o the_o christ_n in_o a_o little_a time_n than_o it_o do_v in_o a_o long_a time_n before_o though_o perhaps_o those_o be_v true_o godly_a before_o and_o member_n of_o christ_n yet_o for_o want_n of_o a_o right_a understanding_n how_o all_o grace_n come_v from_o god_n through_o christ_n and_o so_o draw_v of_o it_o that_o way_n they_o do_v not_o thrive_v in_o the_o way_n of_o godliness_n that_o text_n of_o god_n here_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o it_o that_o you_o may_v be_v fill_v with_o all_o the_o fullness_n of_o god_n a_o strange_a speech_n have_v it_o not_o be_v in_o scripture_n who_o dare_v have_v express_v himself_o thus_o that_o by_o come_v to_o know_v god_n in_o christ_n you_o may_v come_v to_o be_v fill_v with_o all_o the_o fullness_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n it_o be_v very_o much_o to_o say_v thus_o by_o know_v god_n in_o christ_n you_o may_v come_v to_o have_v god_n that_o be_v somewhat_o but_o second_o that_o you_o may_v come_v to_o be_v fill_v with_o god_n that_o be_v more_o but_o three_o that_o you_o may_v come_v to_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o fullness_n of_o god_n that_o be_v yet_o more_o yea_o four_o that_o you_o may_v come_v to_o be_v fill_v with_o all_o the_o fullness_n of_o god_n what_o a_o gradation_n be_v here_o that_o show_v the_o admirable_a use_n of_o know_v god_n in_o christ_n whereas_o now_o other_o man_n and_o woman_n that_o only_o be_v teach_v in_o their_o childhood_n to_o serve_v god_n they_o must_v serve_v god_n and_o they_o be_v restrain_v from_o many_o sin_n and_o they_o perform_v duty_n they_o will_v pray_v and_o come_v to_o hear_v but_o not_o be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o draw_v holiness_n from_o god_n through_o christ_n how_o far_o be_v those_o from_o have_v this_o text_n make_v good_a in_o their_o heart_n that_o be_v from_o be_v fill_v with_o all_o the_o fullness_n of_o god_n whereas_o afterward_o they_o come_v to_o have_v more_o clear_a understanding_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o godliness_n from_o christ_n then_o they_o come_v to_o enjoy_v communion_n with_o god_n more_o than_o ever_o they_o do_v whereas_o before_o they_o be_v stranger_n to_o god_n now_o they_o have_v communion_n with_o he_o yea_o now_o they_o feel_v god_n fullness_n come_v more_o full_o into_o their_o heart_n then_o before_o now_o they_o feel_v a_o fullness_n from_o god_n and_o so_o come_v by_o degree_n to_o be_v what_o be_v say_v in_o this_o text_n to_o be_v fill_v with_o all_o the_o fullness_n of_o god_n the_o reason_n of_o all_o the_o emptiness_n scantiness_n and_o barrenness_n that_o be_v in_o your_o heart_n be_v for_o want_v of_o understanding_n how_o god_n have_v fill_v christ_n with_o all_o fullness_n from_o who_o we_o be_v to_o receive_v grace_n for_o grace_n and_o by_o draw_v grace_n from_o christ_n we_o come_v to_o have_v permanent_a holiness_n and_o last_a holiness_n and_o this_o indeed_o be_v the_o reason_n as_o heretofore_o you_o have_v hear_v why_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o saint_n endure_v for_o ever_o and_o they_o can_v never_o fail_v whereas_o the_o grace_n of_o adam_n do_v fail_v because_o the_o one_o come_v from_o god_n through_o christ_n and_o the_o other_o do_v not_o that_o do_v not_o come_v from_o god_n through_o a_o mediator_n so_o as_o this_o do_v and_o therefore_o this_o be_v permanent_a and_o the_o other_o be_v not_o but_o of_o that_o i_o speak_v before_o only_o we_o bring_v it_o in_o now_o as_o a_o further_a motive_n to_o make_v we_o seek_v for_o holiness_n in_o jesus_n christ_n this_o rest_n of_o sanctification_n some_o rule_v i_o will_v brief_o propound_v by_o way_n of_o direction_n as_o help_n in_o seek_v of_o grace_n and_o sanctification_n in_o christ_n as_o first_o labour_n to_o get_v a_o sense_n of_o your_o want_n of_o holiness_n and_o of_o your_o need_n of_o christ_n for_o it_o second_o in_o the_o exercise_v of_o yourselves_o in_o the_o ordinance_n be_v not_o satisfy_v with_o the_o ordinance_n any_o further_a than_o you_o sanctification_n by_o christ_n many_o christian_n they_o seek_v to_o have_v christ_n but_o why_o that_o they_o may_v have_v peace_n that_o they_o may_v have_v comfort_n and_o they_o make_v their_o holiness_n but_o subservient_fw-fr to_o their_o peace_n and_o comfort_n they_o think_v thus_o except_o i_o be_v holy_a i_o can_v have_v peace_n therefore_o i_o will_v labour_v for_o holiness_n that_o i_o may_v have_v peace_n but_o a_o true_a gracious_a heart_n will_v rather_o say_v thus_o the_o more_o holiness_n i_o have_v the_o more_o peace_n i_o have_v and_o therefore_o i_o will_v labour_v for_o peace_n that_o i_o may_v have_v holiness_n one_o labour_n for_o holiness_n that_o he_o may_v have_v peace_n and_o the_o other_o labour_n for_o peace_n that_o he_o may_v have_v holiness_n now_o those_o christian_n that_o labour_v rather_o for_o peace_n that_o they_o may_v have_v holiness_n will_v more_o thrive_v then_o the_o other_o that_o labour_n for_o holiness_n that_o they_o may_v have_v peace_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o it_o be_v one_o good_a motion_n to_o labour_n for_o holiness_n because_o it_o will_v bring_v peace_n i_o but_o it_o be_v a_o strong_a motive_n to_o labour_v for_o peace_n that_o we_o may_v have_v holiness_n therefore_o when_o we_o seek_v to_o
thou_o find_v thyself_o at_o that_o time_n as_o now_o if_o so_o be_v a_o man_n when_o he_o have_v be_v long_o in_o a_o quartan_a fever_n or_o one_o that_o have_v lie_v long_o in_o the_o disease_n of_o the_o pox_n if_o he_o shall_v at_o last_o look_v upon_o his_o visage_n and_o judge_v of_o the_o constitution_n of_o his_o body_n according_a to_o his_o countenance_n this_o will_v discourage_v he_o but_o he_o must_v judge_v of_o his_o constitution_n at_o that_o time_n when_o the_o distemper_n be_v not_o upon_o he_o so_o many_o poor_a christian_n they_o judge_v of_o their_o condition_n then_o temptation_n toss_v you_o up_o and_o down_o four_o another_o help_n to_o believer_n to_o prevent_v another_o hindrance_n of_o their_o rest_n be_v this_o that_o their_o spirit_n because_o they_o have_v lord_n come_v to_o you_o and_o say_v why_o do_v you_o refuse_v such_o comfort_n and_o you_o say_v i_o be_v in_o fear_n and_o jealousy_n i_o but_o if_o god_n shall_v say_v what_o word_n have_v you_o for_o it_o what_o be_v you_o able_a to_o answer_v oh_o this_o be_v that_o that_o god_n will_v require_v of_o you_o for_o it_o be_v a_o dishonour_n to_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n that_o whenas_o there_o be_v a_o word_n to_o ground_v thy_o faith_n upon_o and_o nothing_o but_o jealousy_n to_o ground_v thy_o fear_n yet_o thou_o will_v make_v thy_o jealousy_n and_o thy_o fear_n to_o weigh_v down_o the_o word_n six_o again_o according_a to_o the_o degree_n of_o thy_o inlargment_n so_o let_v thy_o humiliation_n be_v as_o thou_o find_v thy_o heart_n enlarge_v with_o joy_n at_o the_o same_o time_n let_v thy_o grace_n work_v downward_o in_o way_n of_o humiliation_n observe_v a_o proportion_n between_o thy_o joy_n and_o humiliation_n many_o people_n be_v enlarge_v upon_o the_o joy_n they_o have_v in_o
