religion_n itself_o and_o religious_a cause_n give_v not_o only_a scandal_n but_o procure_v desolation_n in_o the_o church_n through_o error_n sometime_o on_o the_o left_a hand_n and_o sometime_o on_o the_o right_a hand_n whether_o to_o the_o king_n it_o may_v be_v question_v who_o the_o apostle_n mean_v by_o the_o word_n king_n such_o as_o understand_v the_o epistle_n to_o be_v write_v to_o the_o jew_n may_v perhaps_o conceive_v that_o the_o king_n that_o rule_v by_o deputation_n in_o judea_n shall_v be_v mean_v such_o as_o be_v herod_n and_o agrippa_n but_o in_o as_o much_o as_o the_o jew_n be_v scatter_v through_o the_o province_n and_o those_o provincial_a jew_n be_v most_o in_o quiet_a and_o in_o as_o much_o as_o for_o the_o reason_n afore_o give_v it_o be_v likely_a that_o the_o epistle_n be_v write_v to_o all_o christian_n both_o jew_n and_o gentile_n therefore_o by_o the_o king_n he_o mean_v caesar._n and_o then_o a_o more_o scruple_n arise_v for_o the_o roman_n hate_v the_o name_n of_o a_o king_n and_o caesar_n be_v a_o emperor_n to_o which_o diverse_a thing_n may_v be_v answer_v first_o that_o though_o the_o present_a governor_n be_v a_o emperor_n yet_o the_o apostle_n know_v that_o the_o most_o monarchy_n in_o the_o world_n will_v rest_v in_o the_o title_n of_o king_n in_o all_o age_n therefore_o he_o use_v that_o title_n that_o may_v concern_v the_o most_o of_o the_o elect_a in_o all_o age_n second_o that_o though_o among_o the_o roman_n the_o title_n of_o king_n be_v not_o use_v yet_o the_o grecian_n in_o who_o language_n he_o write_v do_v familiar_o use_v the_o word_n 〈◊〉_d which_o we_o translate_v king_n three_o the_o apostle_n may_v have_v respect_n unto_o the_o signification_n of_o the_o word_n as_o unto_o a_o word_n which_o be_v most_o effectual_a to_o note_v the_o high_a dignity_n among_o man_n for_o it_o note_v he_o that_o be_v the_o stay_n or_o foundation_n of_o the_o people_n or_o the_o commonwealth_n and_o though_o ambitious_a man_n seek_v new_a title_n as_o high_a yet_o the_o apostle_n know_v that_o this_o be_v most_o majestical_a and_o honourable_a for_o the_o term_n of_o emperor_n in_o the_o signification_n of_o it_o may_v agree_v to_o any_o subordinate_a rule_n who_o govern_v or_o command_v other_o man_n four_o it_o may_v be_v that_o the_o apostle_n know_v the_o hypocrisy_n of_o those_o emperor_n who_o only_o disclaim_v the_o name_n of_o king_n to_o avoid_v the_o hatred_n of_o the_o people_n and_o yet_o seek_v the_o full_a right_n of_o king_n and_o so_o to_o destroy_v the_o liberty_n of_o the_o people_n give_v the_o name_n they_o seek_v in_o substance_n though_o not_o in_o term_n where_o by_o the_o way_n we_o may_v note_v how_o hateful_a hypocrisy_n be_v to_o god_n hypocrisy_n and_o how_o vain_a it_o be_v god_n will_v unmask_v even_o king_n if_o they_o dissemble_v with_o he_o he_o that_o try_v the_o heart_n &_o reins_n judge_v according_a to_o truth_n and_o will_v not_o be_v deceive_v with_o pretence_n though_o man_n dare_v not_o charge_n caesar_n to_o affect_v the_o kingdom_n yet_o god_n dare_v and_o will_v require_v at_o his_o hand_n the_o ambition_n of_o his_o heart_n and_o if_o god_n will_v not_o bear_v with_o dissimulation_n in_o king_n much_o less_o will_v he_o bear_v it_o in_o mean_a man_n he_o hate_v hypocrisy_n and_o feign_a pretence_n and_o paint_a show_n wheresoever_o he_o find_v it_o which_o shall_v teach_v we_o all_o to_o labour_v for_o a_o plain_a and_o upright_o heart_n in_o all_o thing_n to_o direct_v our_o word_n and_o carriage_n according_a to_o the_o true_a intent_n of_o our_o heart_n for_o beside_o that_o god_n will_v plague_v man_n for_o their_o dissimulation_n which_o can_v be_v hide_v from_o he_o it_o fall_v out_o usual_o that_o such_o as_o use_v dissemble_v be_v perpetual_o suspect_v all_o their_o fair_a pretence_n notwithstanding_o as_o those_o caesar_n be_v last_o the_o apostle_n may_v name_v king_n to_o prevent_v rebellion_n in_o the_o subject_n which_o either_o shall_v fear_v such_o as_o affect_v the_o title_n or_o live_v under_o such_o as_o profess_v themselves_o to_o be_v king_n and_o so_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o he_o will_v have_v they_o obey_v even_o king_n how_o hateful_a soever_o natural_o that_o kind_n of_o government_n do_v seem_v unto_o they_o it_o may_v be_v that_o the_o apostle_n mention_v king_n as_o the_o last_o kind_n of_o government_n a_o monarchy_n be_v in_o many_o respect_v the_o most_o excellent_a form_n of_o government_n as_o be_v such_o a_o form_n of_o government_n as_o come_v near_a to_o the_o similitude_n of_o god_n who_o be_v not_o only_o one_o in_o nature_n but_o in_o government_n also_o and_o be_v most_o agreeable_a to_o nature_n which_o do_v affect_v unity_n as_o well_o in_o the_o body_n politic_a as_o in_o the_o body_n natural_a but_o i_o let_v this_o pass_v as_o a_o question_n belong_v rather_o to_o the_o politics_n then_o to_o divinity_n to_o be_v discuss_v at_o large_a thus_o coniectural_o of_o the_o reason_n why_o the_o apostle_n use_v this_o term_n concern_v king_n i_o propound_v these_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v of_o first_o the_o original_a of_o king_n second_o the_o excellency_n of_o king_n both_o these_o tend_v to_o work_v in_o man_n the_o care_n of_o obedience_n to_o they_o and_o their_o law_n three_o the_o indefinite_a manner_n of_o propound_v the_o term_n show_v that_o this_o submission_n belong_v to_o all_o king_n four_o the_o use_n of_o all_o king_n
to_o heal_v the_o body_n as_o well_o as_o the_o soul_n but_o the_o especial_a heal_n be_v at_o the_o resurrection_n when_o all_o the_o body_n of_o the_o saint_n shall_v be_v heal_v perfect_o of_o all_o disease_n and_o free_v from_o the_o very_a disposition_n yea_o the_o very_a possibility_n to_o have_v any_o disease_n use_v 1_o the_o use_n shall_v be_v for_o great_a comfort_n to_o the_o godly_a when_o they_o be_v distress_v they_o may_v and_o aught_o to_o look_v up_o to_o christ_n and_o say_v if_o it_o be_v good_a for_o i_o my_o saviour_n will_v heal_v i_o and_o the_o rather_o because_o christ_n be_v such_o a_o compassionate_a physician_n and_o have_v have_v the_o feel_n of_o our_o infirmity_n and_o pain_n that_o way_n and_o beside_o he_o be_v such_o a_o physician_n as_o can_v do_v two_o thing_n that_o never_o physician_n can_v do_v for_o first_o he_o can_v take_v away_o the_o first_o cause_n of_o disease_n which_o be_v sin_n which_o no_o physic_n can_v do_v math._n 9_o second_o he_o can_v cure_v our_o body_n when_o they_o be_v stark_o dead_a which_o never_o any_o physician_n can_v do_v they_o may_v help_v some_o live_a body_n but_o they_o can_v never_o help_v one_o dead_a body_n yea_o such_o as_o find_v not_o cure_v for_o the_o pain_n of_o the_o body_n shall_v be_v of_o good_a comfort_n because_o they_o shall_v have_v have_v cure_n of_o it_o if_o it_o have_v be_v good_a for_o they_o and_o they_o must_v consider_v it_o be_v the_o lord_n that_o do_v it_o psalm_n 39_o and_o that_o all_o shall_v work_v together_o for_o the_o best_a roman_n 8._o and_o that_o nothing_o can_v separate_v they_o from_o the_o love_n of_o christ_n and_o that_o they_o be_v deliver_v from_o eternal_a pain_n and_o that_o god_n dear_a child_n have_v suffer_v as_o great_a torment_n or_o weakness_n use_v 2._o second_o all_o man_n shall_v be_v teach_v to_o seek_v to_o christ_n for_o cure_v since_o it_o be_v his_o office_n to_o heal_v and_o to_o this_o end_n man_n be_v bind_v to_o look_v to_o diverse_a rule_n if_o they_o will_v have_v christ_n to_o heal_v they_o grieve_n first_o they_o must_v seek_v to_o he_o for_o cure_n they_o must_v pray_v he_o to_o heal_v they_o show_v that_o when_o he_o say_v the_o whole_a need_v not_o the_o physician_n but_o the_o sick_a the_o sick_a than_o do_v need_n and_o must_v with_o conscience_n and_o care_n use_v all_o lawful_a and_o outward_a help_n that_o they_o can_v attain_v to_o that_o be_v fit_a for_o they_o matthew_n 9_o three_o they_o must_v take_v heed_n of_o trust_v upon_o the_o physician_n or_o physic_n give_v they_o that_o be_v asa_n his_o great_a sin_n for_o if_o we_o be_v cure_v it_o be_v not_o physic_n but_o christ_n that_o heal_v us._n four_o we_o must_v bring_v faith_n to_o be_v heal_v for_o our_o body_n
