with_o it_o who_o will_v be_v to_o stand_v near_o to_o the_o fire_n &_o not_o to_o receyve_v the_o heat_n thereof_o be_v a_o bad_a sign_n it_o do_v not_o a_o little_a displease_v i_o to_o see_v a_o secular_a man_n set_v on_o fire_n with_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o a_o religious_a man_n to_o freeze_v for_o cold_a if_o a_o secular_a man_n exceed_v a_o religious_a in_o store_n of_o merit_n because_o he_o shall_v have_v exercise_v more_o act_n of_o charity_n it_o manife_v that_o a_o religious_a man_n be_v worthy_a of_o great_a reprehension_n 4._o son_n thou_o have_v a_o obligation_n of_o suffer_v many_o far_o great_a injury_n and_o yet_o do_v not_o for_o that_o withdraw_v my_o love_n but_o spend_v my_o life_n and_o blood_n to_o do_v they_o good_a all_o a_o religious_a man_n spiritual_a gain_n who_o can_v patient_o put_v up_o injury_n and_o therefore_o will_v not_o do_v his_o neighbour_n good_a be_v convert_v into_o his_o own_o hurt_n for_o the_o injury_n be_v domageable_a to_o he_o who_o do_v another_o hurt_n and_o avaylable_a to_o he_o to_o who_o it_o be_v do_v if_o he_o bear_v it_o with_o patience_n if_o then_o the_o injury_n give_v a_o religious_a man_n occasion_n of_o merit_v he_o have_v in_o truth_n no_o cause_n to_o be_v great_o move_v against_o he_o who_o offer_v the_o injury_n i_o never_o deliver_v such_o kind_n of_o doctrine_n i_o never_o give_v myself_o a_o example_n in_o that_o kind_n but_o always_o teach_v that_o good_a be_v to_o be_v render_v for_o evil_a 8._o son_n remember_v that_o thyself_o and_o all_o thy_o forefather_n do_v take_v their_o beginning_n from_o one_o that_o be_v from_o adam_n and_o for_o that_o cause_n be_v bind_v to_o love_v one_o another_o as_o brethren_n call_v to_o memory_n my_o apostle_n his_o word_n when_o he_o say_v you_o be_v my_o member_n and_o therefore_o there_o ought_v to_o reign_v that_o love_n among_o we_o that_o be_v among_o the_o member_n of_o one_o body_n and_o by_o this_o thou_o may_v manifest_o understand_v whether_o thou_o love_v thy_o neighbour_n true_o or_o no._n he_o that_o either_o little_a regard_v his_o neighbour_n or_o contemn_v he_o though_o in_o degree_n never_o so_o far_o inferior_a to_o himself_o have_v not_o true_a charity_n neither_o the_o head_n nor_o the_o eye_n which_o be_v the_o more_o noble_a member_n of_o man_n do_v ever_o contemn_v the_o foot_n though_o they_o be_v inferior_a member_n and_o less_o noble_a he_o that_o be_v sorry_a for_o his_o neighbour_n good_a or_o be_v glad_a of_o his_o hurt_n show_v that_o he_o love_v he_o not_o for_o that_o one_o member_n either_o suffer_v or_o rejoice_v in_o company_n with_o another_o charity_n deem_v the_o neighbour_n either_o good_a or_o ill_o as_o proper_a to_o itself_o he_o that_o out_o of_o envy_n and_o malice_n either_o extenuate_v or_o traduce_v the_o action_n of_o his_o neighbour_n love_v not_o i_o it_o be_v never_o see_v that_o the_o hand_n will_v hurt_v the_o foot_n he_o that_o assi_v not_o his_o neighbour_n in_o what_o he_o be_v able_a have_v not_o charity_n the_o eâ—es_n never_o refuse_v to_o yield_v unto_o the_o other_o member_n the_o office_n of_o see_v true_a charity_n though_o it_o be_v prejudice_v and_o hurt_v be_v not_o move_v to_o indignation_n neither_o practise_v it_o revenge_n but_o help_v the_o neighbour_n and_o excuse_v his_o fault_n of_o the_o religious_a man_n gratitude_n towards_o god_n for_o the_o benefit_n he_o have_v receyve_v chap._n four_o tell_v i_o son_n what_o father_n or_o mother_n ever_o do_v as_o much_o to_o their_o child_n as_o i_o have_v do_v own_o will_n and_o will_v that_o be_v before_o bury_v both_o which_o body_n thou_o bury_v at_o thy_o enter_v into_o religion_n with_o a_o firm_a purpose_n never_o to_o unbury_v they_o or_o to_o take_v they_o out_o of_o the_o ground_n again_o think_v thou_o to_o be_v excuse_v before_o i_o while_n thou_o now_o call_v they_o i_o can_v and_o i_o can_v that_o i_o can_v which_o thou_o have_v say_v to_o and_o encourage_v one_o another_o to_o the_o study_n and_o practice_v of_o virtue_n and_o by_o example_n of_o life_n and_o pious_a talk_n stir_v up_o to_o the_o love_n of_o god_n &_o animate_v one_o exercise_v virtue_n with_o discretion_n become_v sick_a thereby_o how_o great_a a_o hurt_n be_v this_o what_o hurt_n shall_v thereof_o come_v unto_o he_o ay_o that_o be_o his_o lord_n will_v have_v it_o so_o and_o what_o if_o i_o by_o this_o way_n think_v to_o deliver_v he_o from_o a_o far_o more_o sore_a sickness_n of_o soul_n do_v these_o man_n think_v that_o if_o a_o pious_a and_o good_a of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n and_o how_o glorious_a be_v he_o in_o heaven_n who_o have_v deserve_v it_o the_o religious_a who_o now_o triumph_n in_o heaven_n do_v make_v so_o great_a a_o esteem_n even_o of_o the_o least_o increase_n of_o glory_n which_o they_o have_v merit_v while_o they_o labour_v to_o perfection_n here_o on_o earth_n as_o they_o do_v not_o only_o yield_v their_o creator_n immortal_a thanks_n but_o have_v rather_o also_o if_o there_o be_v need_n spend_v their_o blood_n a_o thousand_o time_n than_o not_o to_o have_v obtain_v that_o glory_n wilâ—_n thou_o therefore_o who_o may_v without_o spill_v of_o thy_o blood_n or_o loss_n of_o life_n increase_v thy_o glory_n and_o crown_n in_o heaven_n from_o day_n to_o day_n by_o profit_v towards_o perfection_n stand_v tempest_n 7._o there_o be_v also_o some_o who_o affect_v to_o a_o more_o free_a life_n do_v for_o purge_v of_o themselves_o say_v that_o the_o study_n of_o perfection_n be_v only_o proper_a to_o novice_n but_o they_o be_v miserable_o deceive_v for_o as_o much_o as_o all_o religious_a person_n be_v bind_v to_o labour_v to_o perfection_n and_o the_o more_o ancient_a a_o man_n be_v in_o religion_n the_o more_o diligent_a shall_v he_o be_v in_o furnish_v himself_o with_o virtue_n as_o he_o who_o ought_v to_o have_v both_o a_o great_a understanding_n and_o knowledge_n of_o his_o own_o obligation_n and_o have_v a_o long_a trial_n and_o experience_n of_o the_o sweetness_n of_o perfection_n he_o that_o be_v not_o hungry_a be_v soon_o fill_v and_o it_o be_v a_o ill_a sign_n in_o a_o religious_a man_n if_o he_o receive_v no_o pleasure_n in_o the_o study_n of_o virtue_n 8._o other_o contrariwise_o have_v a_o over_o hasty_a desire_n to_o get_v up_o to_o the_o high_a degree_n of_o perfection_n and_o if_o they_o happen_v peradventure_o to_o fall_v into_o some_o defect_n they_o be_v eftsoons_o discourage_v and_o loose_v their_o courage_n but_o this_o be_v not_o my_o will_n neither_o be_v it_o the_o way_n of_o labour_v to_o perfection_n for_o the_o great_a perfection_n be_v in_o the_o victory_n &_o overcome_v of_o all_o vice_n and_o in_o the_o purchase_n of_o all_o virtue_n &_o for_o the_o effect_n of_o this_o there_o must_v be_v some_o continuance_n of_o tyme._n wherefore_o to_o seek_v everyday_n more_o perfection_n than_o other_o which_o we_o speak_v of_o here_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o overcome_v the_o passion_n or_o to_o restrain_v the_o perturbation_n of_o the_o mind_n &_o the_o inordinate_a desire_n thereof_o and_o to_o be_v absolute_o perfect_a be_v nothing_o else_o then_o after_o the_o victory_n over_o ourselves_o to_o be_v dead_a to_o the_o world_n and_o to_o live_v to_o god_n alone_o 9_o he_o that_o have_v enemy_n and_o not_o set_v upon_o all_o at_o once_o but_o now_o one_o castle_n be_v take_v from_o the_o enemy_n and_o then_o another_o or_o some_o city_n bring_v in_o subjection_n and_o so_o one_o after_o another_o until_o he_o be_v come_v possess_v of_o the_o whole_a kingdom_n even_o so_o do_v a_o religious_a man_n who_o have_v a_o desire_n to_o invade_v &_o set_v upon_o the_o kingdom_n of_o perfection_n the_o danger_n of_o die_v spiritual_o then_o shun_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v disposition_n to_o that_o death_n for_o we_o learn_v by_o daily_a experience_n that_o they_o who_o once_o languish_v in_o the_o study_n of_o perfection_n do_v fall_n into_o a_o thousand_o defect_n and_o into_o so_o great_a levity_n and_o inconstancy_n of_o manner_n liberty_n of_o conversation_n and_o imprudency_n of_o mind_n as_o not_o only_o all_o shame_n lay_v aside_o they_o do_v nothing_o worthy_a of_o praise_n but_o do_v furthermore_o glory_n &_o rejoice_v in_o their_o own_o error_n and_o defect_n and_o in_o this_o they_o be_v not_o unlike_a to_o those_o angel_n who_o fall_v from_o heaven_n and_o together_o with_o their_o most_o grievous_a ruin_n lose_v also_o all_o their_o spiritual_a gift_n and_o procure_v to_o themselves_o most_o extreme_a evil_n for_o look_v how_o much_o more_o excellent_a they_o be_v in_o dignity_n then_o all_o creature_n so_o much_o more_o by_o their_o fall_n from_o way_n of_o perfection_n trace_v &_o hold_v on_o the_o way_n of_o licenciousnes_n and_o liberty_n 3._o but_o to_o conserve_v the_o degree_n of_o perfection_n thou_o have_v get_v there_o be_v two_o virtue_n that_o may_v help_v thou_o and_o those_o be_v love_n and_o humility_n love_n will_v make_v thou_o vigilant_a to_o avoid_v the_o danger_n grow_v from_o thief_n and_o robber_n humility_n will_v conceal_v and_o hide_v thou_o that_o thou_o come_v not_o within_o their_o view_n or_o sight_n and_o how_o profitable_a &_o available_a love_n be_v for_o this_o purpose_n it_o be_v no_o hard_a matter_n to_o demonstrate_v a_o rich_a and_o wealthy_a man_n who_o be_v not_o in_o love_n with_o his_o riches_n soon_o lose_v they_o for_o he_o that_o love_v not_o any_o thing_n esteem_v it_o not_o and_o he_o that_o esteem_v it_o not_o have_v no_o care_n of_o keep_v it_o and_o every_o one_o know_v that_o a_o thing_n negligent_o keep_v be_v easy_o lose_v even_o so_o as_o necessary_a it_o be_v for_o a_o child_n those_o therefore_o who_o embrace_v purity_n both_o of_o mind_n and_o body_n be_v more_o apt_a to_o receive_v the_o clear_a light_n of_o my_o grace_n to_o contemplate_v matter_n of_o heaven_n and_o love_v it_o so_o affectuous_o as_o i_o not_o only_o with_o a_o singular_a joy_n repose_v therein_o &_o enrich_v it_o with_o sundry_a gift_n but_o also_o nothing_o can_v be_v require_v of_o i_o that_o i_o do_v not_o gracious_o impart_v unto_o it_o and_o this_o alone_a shall_v set_v every_o religious_a man_n mind_n on_o fire_n to_o desire_v this_o heavenly_a gem_n wonderful_o shine_v not_o only_o in_o the_o company_n of_o virtue_n on_o earth_n but_o also_o in_o heaven_n among_o the_o company_n of_o the_o bless_a the_o more_o tender_o thou_o shall_v love_v chastity_n the_o more_o thou_o shall_v be_v love_v of_o god_n and_o if_o thou_o can_v not_o love_v it_o as_o much_o as_o it_o deserve_v at_o least_o love_v it_o in_o what_o thou_o be_v able_a how_o great_o convenient_a it_o be_v for_o a_o religious_a man_n to_o be_v chaste_a chap._n xv._o lord_n i_o well_o understand_v that_o it_o be_v very_o convenient_a that_o he_o be_v chaste_a who_o attend_v to_o thy_o service_n consider_v by_o the_o benefit_n of_o his_o vow_n he_o be_v consecrate_v and_o bind_v to_o thou_o the_o fountain_n of_o all_o purity_n it_o be_v nothing_o agreeable_a that_o under_o a_o clean_a and_o pure_a head_n the_o member_n shall_v be_v filthy_a and_o foul_a but_o i_o know_v not_o how_o i_o may_v long_o defend_v my_o chastity_n since_o i_o have_v at_o home_o a_o capital_a enemy_n who_o trust_v to_o both_o inward_a and_o outward_a help_n become_v so_o stout_a &_o hardy_a as_o i_o almost_o despair_v of_o the_o victory_n now_o thou_o know_v o_o lord_n how_o sore_o this_o insolent_a and_o proud_a flesh_n persecute_v the_o purity_n of_o my_o soul_n thou_o be_v not_o ignorant_a how_o many_o assault_v it_o make_v night_n and_o day_n upon_o it_o and_o yet_o this_o do_v not_o make_v i_o afraid_a another_o thing_n perplex_v and_o trouble_v i_o much_o more_o that_o be_v that_o both_o the_o wantonness_n and_o rebellion_n of_o the_o sense_n within_o and_o the_o most_o cruel_a enemy_n satan_n without_o do_v minister_n help_v unto_o it_o 2._o son_n what_o thou_o say_v be_v most_o true_a but_o thou_o must_v not_o be_v dismay_v for_o it_o for_o the_o great_a that_o the_o enemy_n boldness_n &_o poweris_n the_o more_o glorious_a will_v the_o victory_n &_o crown_n be_v that_o follow_v after_o neither_o shall_v thou_o want_v my_o help_n only_o play_v thou_o the_o man_n and_o use_v all_o thy_o force_n for_o the_o maintain_n of_o chastity_n and_o no_o enemy_n from_o within_o or_o without_o shall_v get_v the_o victory_n from_o thou_o and_o see_v thou_o acknowledge_v and_o confess_v also_o that_o it_o be_v convenient_a that_o my_o religious_a servant_n be_v chaste_a as_o i_o their_o lord_n be_o know_v thou_o that_o i_o be_v ever_o so_o hearty_a a_o lover_n of_o purity_n as_o my_o adversary_n who_o calumniate_v i_o in_o very_o many_o thing_n dare_v not_o accuse_v or_o condemn_v i_o of_o the_o very_a lest_o defect_n against_o chastity_n and_o that_o the_o religious_a aught_o to_o be_v such_o their_o state_n exact_v since_o they_o make_v a_o profession_n to_o be_v my_o follower_n &_o imitator_n of_o my_o life_n wherefore_o see_v i_o be_v exceed_o affect_v to_o this_o virtue_n of_o chastity_n and_o regard_v it_o as_o the_o guide_n of_o a_o spiritual_a life_n requisite_a it_o be_v that_o they_o also_o embrace_v and_o take_v it_o for_o their_o lady_n and_o mistress_n 3._o and_o because_o i_o make_v so_o high_a a_o esteem_n of_o purity_n and_o be_o in_o the_o high_a degree_n avert_v from_o the_o vice_n of_o concupiscence_n why_o will_v thou_o have_v i_o to_o entertain_v a_o dishonest_a servant_n within_o my_o house_n or_o that_o i_o shall_v endure_v he_o in_o the_o same_o how_o shall_v i_o suffer_v that_o any_o service_n shall_v be_v do_v i_o by_o he_o who_o i_o know_v to_o have_v a_o unclean_a mind_n the_o servant_n that_o accommodate_v not_o himself_o to_o his_o lord_n and_o master_n or_o neglect_v to_o procure_v his_o love_n and_o good_a will_n either_o will_v not_o be_v long_a stable_n in_o his_o office_n or_o if_o he_o continue_v in_o it_o will_v make_v very_o little_a profit_n thereby_o and_o will_v put_v himself_o in_o danger_n of_o be_v thrust_v out_o to_o his_o own_o great_a hurt_n and_o no_o little_a shame_n and_o confusion_n do_v i_o require_v at_o my_o servant_n hand_n any_o thing_n unfitting_a unseemly_a or_o impossible_a i_o require_v purity_n which_o be_v a_o principal_a virtue_n i_o require_v of_o he_o that_o he_o suffer_v not_o himself_o to_o be_v supplant_v or_o overcome_v by_o his_o sensuality_n and_o this_o be_v honourable_a i_o exact_v of_o he_o that_o which_o he_o have_v promise_v and_o that_o be_v to_o live_v chaste_o which_o be_v a_o point_n of_o justice_n 4._o further_o i_o long_o to_o know_v wherein_o consist_v to_o leave_v and_o forsake_v the_o
only_o will_v that_o which_o the_o superior_a will_v but_o also_o judge_v that_o to_o be_v do_v which_o the_o superior_a shall_v command_v obey_v far_o more_o perfect_o then_o do_v he_o who_o in_o will_n alone_o embrace_v the_o superior_n commandment_n he_o that_o need_v spur_n be_v more_o holpen_v with_o two_o then_o with_o one_o and_o two_o cord_n do_v more_o strong_o bind_v then_o one_o 2._o lord_n i_o do_v not_o well_o conceive_v how_o the_o subject_n may_v conform_v his_o judgement_n to_o his_o superior_n judgement_n in_o all_o thing_n as_o he_o may_v conform_v his_o will_n for_o sith_o the_o will_n be_v free_a it_o may_v be_v bow_v both_o way_n but_o the_o understanding_n that_o be_v draw_v from_o the_o know_a truth_n and_o be_v not_o free_a can_v bend_v it_o see_v f_o but_o that_o way_n where_o the_o truth_n be_v and_o therefore_o if_o the_o subject_n understanding_n convince_a by_o some_o reason_n that_o represent_v a_o thing_n as_o true_a consent_n unto_o it_o and_o the_o superior_n understanding_n convince_a by_o another_o different_a reason_n inclyne_v another_o way_n in_o the_o same_o thing_n how_o can_v the_o subject_n in_o this_o matter_n conform_v his_o own_o judgement_n to_o the_o judgement_n of_o his_o superior_a when_o it_o be_v not_o in_o his_o power_n to_o revoke_v his_o understanding_n from_o the_o truth_n former_o know_v 3._o son_n what_o thou_o say_v be_v true_a when_o the_o truth_n be_v know_v for_o than_o it_o so_o convince_v the_o understanding_n as_o it_o can_v be_v induce_v or_o incline_v to_o the_o contrary_n but_o when_o evidency_n and_o certainty_n be_v want_v the_o understanding_n holpen_v by_o the_o will_n may_v rather_o be_v incline_v to_o one_o part_n then_o to_o the_o other_o and_o then_o the_o obedient_a that_o he_o err_v not_o aught_o to_o submit_v his_o judgement_n to_o the_o judgement_n of_o his_o superior_a so_o as_o that_o he_o may_v not_o err_v in_o will_n he_o submit_v it_o also_o to_o the_o superior_n will_n neither_o yet_o because_o many_o subject_n be_v of_o more_o sharp_a wit_n and_o of_o a_o more_o mature_a judgement_n than_o the_o superior_a be_v be_v they_o therefore_o exempt_v from_o this_o subjection_n for_o so_o long_o as_o they_o be_v member_n they_o must_v be_v subject_a to_o the_o head_n but_o suppose_v that_o those_o subject_n be_v more_o intelligent_a for_o knowledge_n of_o learning_n yet_o in_o matter_n and_o manner_n of_o government_n god_n ever_o give_v great_a light_n to_o the_o superior_a then_o to_o the_o subject_n and_o therefore_o his_o judgement_n must_v be_v prefer_v &_o take_v place_n before_o the_o judgment_n of_o other_o and_o great_o to_o be_v reckon_v of_o since_o i_o use_v he_o in_o the_o govern_n and_o conserve_n of_o religious_a 4._o but_o admit_v that_o the_o superior_a have_v not_o command_v something_o aright_o which_o yet_o be_v not_o accompany_v with_o sin_n whether_o do_v the_o subject_n therefore_o err_v therein_o if_o he_o obey_v in_o no_o case_n be_v he_o deprive_v of_o the_o merit_n of_o obedience_n neither_o why_o they_o shall_v he_o not_o submit_v his_o judgement_n in_o all_o thing_n to_o the_o superior_a when_o i_o be_v in_o subjection_n to_o my_o mother_n and_o to_o my_o foster-father_n joseph_n i_o obey_v they_o both_o ready_o even_o in_o those_o thing_n which_o i_o know_v will_v fall_v out_o better_o if_o they_o have_v be_v do_v otherwise_o it_o be_v not_o for_o the_o subject_n to_o procure_v that_o that_o may_v be_v best_a which_o be_v command_v by_o the_o superior_a but_o only_o to_o attend_v to_o this_o that_o he_o execute_v in_o the_o best_a manner_n whatsoever_o shall_v be_v command_v &_o suffer_v the_o superior_a to_o appoint_v that_o which_o he_o himself_o shall_v judge_v and_o think_v to_o be_v best_a neither_o must_v the_o subject_n forbear_v the_o execute_n of_o the_o superior_n commandment_n though_o he_o be_v certain_a that_o he_o shall_v do_v better_a if_o he_o do_v not_o for_o the_o subject_n be_v not_o judge_v but_o only_o the_o butter_n of_o that_o in_o practice_v which_o be_v command_v so_o there_o be_v no_o sin_n in_o do_v it_o this_o indeed_o be_v a_o defect_n of_o they_o who_o will_v that_o the_o superior_a shall_v ordain_v what_o be_v best_a but_o yet_o they_o will_v not_o do_v it_o though_o themselves_o be_v otherwise_o bind_v thereto_o 5._o that_o the_o obedience_n of_o the_o understanding_n be_v most_o please_a unto_o i_o be_v a_o matter_n out_o of_o all_o question_n since_o it_o give_v the_o last_o perfection_n to_o the_o sacrifice_n that_o the_o religious_a offer_v while_o together_o with_o the_o will_v he_o offer_v both_o his_o understanding_n and_o his_o own_o judgement_n which_o be_v the_o noble_a faculty_n of_o man_n moreover_o it_o be_v know_v to_o all_o how_o vehement_a a_o propension_n nature_n itself_o have_v put_v into_o man_n to_o the_o follow_v of_o his_o own_o judgement_n and_o yet_o a_o religious_a man_n restrayn_v this_o propension_n so_o far_o as_o for_o love_n of_o i_o he_o voluntary_o subiect_v his_o own_o judgement_n to_o another_o which_o i_o esteem_v high_o of_o and_o be_v very_o profitable_a to_o himself_o for_o so_o he_o lead_v a_o quiet_a life_n and_o most_o agreeable_a to_o a_o true_a religious_a man_n &_o on_o the_o contrary_a he_o that_o rely_v upon_o his_o own_o judgement_n be_v never_o at_o repose_n in_o any_o thing_n and_o live_v unquiet_o 6._o this_o three_o degree_n of_o obedience_n have_v three_o propertye_n the_o first_o be_v call_v simplicity_n which_o consider_v i_o in_o the_o superior_a cause_v the_o religious_a man_n to_o put_v his_o ordination_n in_o execution_n without_o any_o examination_n whether_o he_o shall_v allow_v they_o or_o not_o o_o how_o displease_v unto_o i_o be_v the_o dispute_a obedience_n which_o in_o whatsoever_o thing_n that_o be_v ordain_v by_o the_o superior_a ever_o ask_v wherefore_o for_o what_o intent_n for_o what_o end_n this_o or_o that_o be_v appoint_v i_o have_v not_o call_v thou_o out_o of_o the_o world_n to_o dispute_v or_o to_o examine_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v by_o the_o superior_a determine_v and_o command_v but_o to_o do_v they_o and_o that_o they_o be_v do_v it_o be_v nothing_o necessary_a to_o know_v for_o what_o cause_n how_o &_o for_o what_o end_n they_o be_v do_v wherefore_o let_v it_o be_v thy_o care_n to_o do_v so_o much_o of_o obedience_n as_o thou_o be_v bind_v unto_o and_o know_v thou_o that_o it_o appertain_v not_o to_o the_o subject_n to_o inquire_v what_o end_n the_o superior_n have_v propose_v unto_o themselves_o in_o their_o office_n if_o the_o patriarch_n abraham_n have_v demand_v of_o god_n for_o what_o cause_n he_o will_v have_v he_o sacrifice_v his_o son_n isaac_n upon_o who_o rely_v the_o benediction_n of_o nation_n &_o many_o other_o promise_v former_o make_v his_o obedience_n have_v not_o be_v so_o commendable_a neither_o have_v he_o merit_v so_o much_o as_o he_o do_v by_o simple_o obey_v 7._o the_o true_o obedient_a seek_v nothing_o but_o to_o do_v the_o commandment_n o_o how_o great_o do_v i_o favour_v those_o religious_a who_o in_o the_o command_n of_o superior_n will_v not_o discuss_v and_o examine_v whether_o they_o be_v profitable_a or_o otherwise_o convenient_a or_o not_o or_o the_o contrary_n whence_o it_o happen_v that_o command_v by_o their_o superior_a they_o lay_v hand_n upon_o most_o cruel_a &_o fierce_a beast_n as_o lion_n leap_v into_o river_n water_v dry_a stock_n for_o a_o long_a space_n together_o and_o do_v many_o the_o like_a thing_n as_o strange_a as_o these_o and_o these_o leave_v behind_o they_o on_o earth_n noble_a example_n of_o obedience_n and_o for_o they_o they_o have_v for_o their_o simplicity_n in_o obey_v obtain_v most_o glorious_a crown_n in_o heaven_n son_n desire_v thou_o thaâ—_n god_n shall_v have_v a_o particular_a care_n of_o protect_v thou_o as_o he_o have_v of_o those_o holy_a father_n obey_v then_o with_o simplicity_n 8._o the_o other_o property_n be_v humility_n without_o which_o neither_o obedience_n nor_o chastity_n nor_o poverty_n please_v i_o for_o humility_n be_v obedience_n mother_n and_o the_o one_o may_v not_o consist_v and_o stand_v without_o the_o other_o the_o proud_a will_v not_o subject_v himself_o to_o any_o and_o therefore_o can_v be_v obedient_a pride_n because_o it_o call_v the_o subject_a back_n from_o the_o execution_n of_o the_o superior_n command_v both_o deprive_v of_o all_o merit_n and_o increase_v the_o trouble_n the_o conclusion_n of_o religious_a obedience_n chap._n xxviii_o son_n perfect_a obedience_n require_v a_o abnegation_n of_o the_o own_o judgement_n a_o entire_a resignation_n of_o the_o will_n and_o a_o exact_a execution_n and_o performance_n of_o what_o be_v command_v the_o true_a obedient_a regard_v not_o the_o person_n of_o he_o who_o command_v and_o who_o he_o obey_v but_o in_o he_o he_o cast_v
make_v their_o habitation_n in_o that_o place_n where_o obedience_n will_v appoint_v they_o or_o to_o do_v the_o business_n that_o the_o superior_a judge_v most_o convenient_a for_o my_o glory_n and_o therefore_o they_o be_v trouble_v and_o can_v find_v any_o quiet_a or_o peace_n of_o mind_n &_o they_o ascribe_v this_o their_o disquiet_n either_o to_o the_o place_n wherein_o they_o dwell_v or_o to_o the_o company_n with_o who_o they_o converse_v or_o to_o the_o office_n that_o they_o execute_v until_o they_o obtain_v some_o change_n in_o they_o but_o that_o evil_a be_v hardly_o cure_v the_o cause_n whereof_o be_v not_o understand_v this_o be_v no_o fit_a way_n of_o cure_n and_o of_o remedy_v it_o the_o origin_n of_o the_o evil_n be_v to_o be_v seek_v into_o which_o be_v a_o unmortified_a passion_n proceed_v of_o self_n love_n and_o of_o this_o it_o be_v that_o a_o religious_a man_n be_v not_o indifferent_a nor_o resign_v in_o all_o thing_n to_o the_o superior_n wil._n think_v thou_o the_o place_n will_v effect_v that_o thy_o inordinate_a passion_n or_o proper_a love_n may_v be_v remove_v and_o take_v away_o the_o change_n of_o bed_n do_v not_o ease_v the_o sick_a man_n of_o his_o fever_n but_o do_v oftentimes_o increase_v it_o and_o though_o the_o change_n somewhat_o temper_v the_o hot_a burn_a of_o it_o for_o the_o time_n yet_o within_o a_o while_n it_o torment_v he_o more_o sore_o so_o happen_v it_o to_o a_o religious_a man_n who_o carry_v with_o he_o the_o cause_n of_o his_o unquietnes_n and_o that_o be_v his_o inordinate_a passion_n and_o unless_o the_o axe_n of_o mortification_n be_v use_v to_o the_o cut_v away_o of_o this_o bad_a root_n whatsoever_o change_n of_o place_n be_v make_v it_o will_v ever_o be_v worse_o with_o he_o for_o the_o long_o the_o evil_n hang_v upon_o he_o the_o more_o strength_n it_o get_v and_o the_o less_o indifferent_a it_o make_v he_o 5._o but_o tell_v i_o if_o after_o the_o change_n of_o place_n or_o of_o office_n thou_o find_v thyself_o as_o unquiet_a or_o more_o than_o before_o as_o common_o it_o be_v wont_a what_o will_v thou_o do_v will_v thou_o wish_v to_o remove_v to_o another_o place_n in_o no_o case_n for_o that_o be_v to_o play_v the_o pilgrim_n without_o a_o staff_n with_o thin_a own_o detriment_n and_o the_o bad_a example_n of_o other_o or_o will_v thou_o rather_o resolve_v to_o mortify_v thyself_o there_o &_o to_o pull_v the_o cause_n of_o thy_o disquiet_n up_o by_o the_o root_n but_o that_o may_v be_v do_v as_o well_o in_o the_o place_n to_o which_o obedience_n have_v send_v thou_o and_o have_v be_v do_v with_o edification_n of_o they_o who_o know_v thou_o to_o be_v unquiet_a little_o mortify_v &_o less_o indifferent_a he_o that_o have_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n though_o he_o shall_v find_v a_o place_n even_o among_o angel_n will_v not_o cease_v to_o be_v unquiet_a 6._o other_o again_o be_v so_o tie_v to_o one_o place_n as_o when_o they_o understand_v that_o the_o superior_a think_v on_o some_o change_n they_o be_v tempt_v and_o much_o trouble_v and_o which_o be_v worse_o because_o they_o think_v themselves_o in_o that_o place_n where_o they_o than_o be_v to_o abide_v with_o the_o fruit_n &_o increase_v of_o god_n honour_n and_o service_n they_o censure_v their_o superior_n for_o imprudent_a and_o destitute_a of_o zeal_n hence_o it_o be_v that_o if_o they_o be_v against_o their_o will_n remove_v and_o send_v away_o to_o some_o other_o place_n they_o do_v not_o well_o accommodate_v themselves_o to_o any_o function_n or_o office_n but_o do_v trouble_v other_o and_o live_v very_o unquiet_o and_o discontent_o themselves_o can_v it_o possible_o be_v that_o so_o little_a a_o regard_n shall_v be_v have_v of_o indifferency_n which_o be_v a_o religious_a man_n crown_n when_o i_o call_v thou_o to_o religion_n do_v i_o then_o promise_v and_o undertake_v to_o place_v thou_o there_o where_o thou_o will_v or_o where_o i_o will_v certes_o thou_o do_v manifest_a that_o in_o serve_v i_o thou_o rely_a rather_o upon_o thy_o own_o sense_n than_o my_o judgement_n o_o misery_n there_o be_v not_o a_o religious_a man_n that_o will_v not_o think_v &_o also_o affirm_v execute_v this_o ministry_n and_o office_n rather_o than_o that_o to_o dwell_v in_o this_o place_n rather_o than_o in_o another_o how_o know_v thou_o whether_o this_o or_o that_o be_v more_o for_o thy_o soul_n good_a quiet_a or_o perfection_n he_o that_o be_v not_o indifferent_a make_v the_o government_n the_o more_o hard_a laborious_a and_o painful_a he_o that_o be_v not_o indifferent_a seldom_o yield_v to_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o superior_a but_o ordinary_o be_v incline_v to_o perform_v those_o ministerye_n to_o the_o exercise_v whereof_o he_o be_v less_o fit_a since_o none_o be_v a_o good_a and_o impartial_a judge_n in_o his_o own_o cause_n in_o regard_n of_o a_o inordinate_a affection_n that_o deceive_v he_o he_o that_o be_v not_o indifferent_a pervert_v the_o order_n of_o right_a government_n for_o that_o while_o he_o accommodate_v not_o himself_o to_o his_o superior_a as_o he_o ought_v the_o superior_a be_v force_v to_o accommodate_v himself_o unto_o he_o he_o that_o be_v not_o indifferent_a can_v neither_o be_v spiritual_a nor_o devout_a and_o be_v ordinary_o selfe-willd_a and_o heady_a of_o modesty_n necessary_a for_o a_o religious_a man_n chap._n x._o son_n religious_a modesty_n be_v a_o silent_a sermon_n but_o such_o as_o penetrate_v and_o be_v efficacious_a which_o like_v unto_o a_o sharppointed_a arrow_n enter_v into_o a_o man_n hart_n wound_v it_o and_o work_v wonder_n therein_o and_o the_o more_o deep_a wound_n it_o give_v the_o more_o plenteous_a fruit_n it_o bring_v forth_o &_o it_o profit_v not_o only_o they_o who_o hear_v the_o sermon_n but_o he_o also_o who_o make_v it_o for_o modesty_n intertayn_v a_o religious_a man_n spirit_n and_o make_v he_o so_o collect_v in_o mind_n and_o present_a to_o himself_o as_o all_o his_o
