have_v for_o it_o can_v not_o be_v needful_a for_o abraham_n but_o it_o may_v be_v also_o needful_a to_o us._n in_o regard_n whereof_o saint_n peter_n count_v it_o as_o a_o thing_n necessary_a that_o man_n shall_v fall_v into_o sundry_a temptation_n 1.16_o that_o the_o trial_n of_o their_o faith_n may_v be_v unto_o their_o praise_n so_o that_o in_o this_o life_n we_o must_v look_v for_o trial_n of_o trial_n then_o look_v as_o dross_n consume_v in_o the_o fire_n when_o as_o gold_n come_v out_o more_o clear_a so_o shall_v hypocrisy_n formality_n and_o all_o temporize_a profession_n come_v to_o nothing_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o tentation_n when_o sound_a grace_n and_o a_o good_a conscience_n shall_v pass_v through_o and_o shine_v more_o pure_a and_o perfect_a after_o than_o before_o three_o consider_v we_o be_v to_o look_v for_o trial_n and_o temptation_n from_o god_n therefore_o we_o must_v be_v careful_a to_o remember_v and_o practise_v that_o counsel_n of_o christ_n to_o his_o disciple_n before_o his_o passion_n watch_n and_o pray_v that_o you_o enter_v not_o into_o temptation_n math._n 26.41_o and_o because_o they_o be_v careless_a in_o practise_v this_o duty_n therefore_o there_o be_v two_o extremity_n both_o which_o must_v be_v avoid_v in_o this_o case_n 1_o that_o a_o man_n must_v always_o express_v all_o that_o be_v in_o his_o mind_n 2_o that_o in_o some_o case_n a_o man_n may_v speak_v one_o thing_n and_o think_v another_o speak_v contrary_a to_o his_o meaning_n but_o this_o late_a be_v no_o way_n lawful_a and_o the_o other_o be_v not_o always_o necessary_a we_o therefore_o must_v hold_v a_o mean_a between_o both_o to_o wit_n that_o in_o some_o case_n a_o man_n may_v conceal_v his_o whole_a meaning_n say_v nothing_o though_o they_o be_v examine_v namely_o when_o the_o conceal_n thereof_o do_v direct_o stand_v with_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o the_o good_a of_o his_o brother_n thus_o godly_a martyr_n have_v do_v for_o be_v examine_v before_o tyrant_n where_o and_o with_o who_o they_o worship_v god_n they_o have_v choose_v rather_o to_o die_v than_o to_o disclose_v their_o brethren_n and_o this_o conceal_n of_o their_o mind_n be_v lawful_a because_o it_o touch_v immediate_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o the_o good_a of_o his_o church_n second_o a_o man_n may_v conceal_v part_n of_o his_o mind_n but_o that_o must_v be_v also_o with_o these_o two_o caveat_n first_o that_o it_o serve_v for_o god_n glory_n second_o that_o it_o be_v for_o the_o good_a of_o gods_n church_n thus_o do_v jonas_n conceal_v the_o condition_n of_o mercy_n from_o the_o ninivites_fw-la when_o he_o preach_v destruction_n unto_o they_o say_v within_o forty_o day_n and_o niniveh_n shall_v be_v destroy_v though_o it_o be_v evident_a by_o the_o event_n that_o it_o be_v god_n will_v they_o shall_v be_v spare_v if_o they_o do_v repent_v but_o that_o condition_n god_n will_v have_v conceal_v because_o it_o will_v not_o have_v be_v for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o ninivites_fw-la to_o have_v know_v it_o since_o the_o conceal_n of_o it_o cause_v they_o more_o speedy_o and_o earnest_o to_o repent_v but_o out_o of_o these_o case_n a_o man_n be_v of_o the_o first_o impediment_n of_o abraham_n faith_n the_o second_o impediment_n to_o abraham_n faith_n be_v contain_v in_o these_o word_n offer_v his_o only_o beget_v son_n we_o know_v that_o the_o love_n of_o parent_n descend_v to_o every_o child_n natural_o but_o especial_o to_o the_o only_o beget_v upon_o who_o be_v but_o one_o all_o that_o be_v bestow_v which_o when_o there_o be_v many_o continue_v not_o always_o to_o manifest_v that_o favour_n unto_o they_o but_o often_o time_n pull_v back_o the_o feel_n of_o it_o for_o a_o time_n that_o afterward_o he_o may_v show_v it_o again_o in_o more_o comfortable_a manner_n unto_o they_o and_o that_o they_o may_v afterward_o more_o sensible_o feel_v it_o and_o more_o earnest_o love_v it_o and_o more_o careful_o labour_n to_o keep_v it_o for_o example_n we_o have_v too_o many_o to_o some_o god_n say_v leave_v thy_o private_a care_n which_o be_v for_o none_o but_o thyself_o be_v a_o magistrate_n and_o undertake_v the_o public_a care_n of_o the_o commonwealth_n but_o they_o as_o though_o they_o be_v bear_v for_o themselves_o will_v not_o employ_v themselves_o in_o public_a service_n to_o some_o god_n say_v leave_v thy_o ease_n and_o thy_o care_n of_o worldly_a credit_n and_o undertake_v the_o teach_n of_o my_o people_n and_o care_v not_o for_o the_o contempt_n of_o that_o call_n so_o thou_o may_v save_v soul_n but_o their_o carnal_a carnal_a credit_n and_o ease_n be_v more_o dear_a unto_o they_o than_o abraham_n kindred_n be_v to_o he_o they_o will_v not_o forsake_v they_o these_o and_o all_o that_o do_v so_o may_v trade_n lawful_a that_o bring_v in_o wealth_n or_o that_o get_v money_n never_o care_v whether_o god_n allow_v the_o call_n or_o no._n three_o such_o as_o live_v in_o no_o call_n but_o spend_v their_o time_n in_o eat_v drink_v sleep_a and_o sport_v because_o they_o have_v living_n of_o their_o own_o and_o land_n leave_v by_o their_o parent_n all_o these_o and_o all_o such_o like_a do_v obey_v lie_v be_v this_o that_o to_o suffer_v affliction_n for_o christ_n his_o sake_n be_v great_a honour_n and_o riches_n than_o the_o treasure_n of_o a_o kingdom_n and_o if_o moses_n his_o judgement_n be_v good_a which_o god_n himself_o do_v here_o commend_v then_o we_o be_v happy_a and_o bless_a in_o endure_v these_o mock_n and_o scoff_n for_o christ._n second_o we_o must_v here_o learn_v instruction_n for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v we_o have_v for_o a_o long_a time_n through_o the_o great_a goodness_n of_o god_n enjoy_a peace_n and_o wealth_n with_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n but_o undoubted_o these_o day_n of_o peace_n will_v have_v a_o end_n they_o can_v last_v always_o god_n people_n must_v pass_v through_o the_o fiery_a furnace_n of_o affliction_n well_o when_o this_o be_v come_v upon_o we_o how_o shall_v we_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v it_o sure_o we_o must_v now_o learn_v to_o be_v of_o this_o opinion_n that_o moses_n be_v of_o we_o must_v judge_v it_o to_o be_v the_o great_a honour_n and_o riches_n that_o can_v be_v to_o suffer_v affliction_n for_o christ_n his_o sake_n and_o this_o will_v be_v the_o ground_n of_o all_o constancy_n courage_n and_o christian_a boldness_n in_o the_o day_n of_o trial_n for_o he_o that_o be_v of_o this_o mind_n will_v never_o fear_v affliction_n nor_o reproach_n for_o christ_n his_o sake_n nay_o he_o will_v be_v so_o far_o from_o fear_v it_o that_o he_o will_v rejoice_v and_o triumph_v therein_o further_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v esteem_v the_o rebuke_n of_o christ_n here_o mark_v the_o rebuke_n of_o god_n church_n be_v all_o other_o grace_n of_o god_n whatsoever_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n be_v not_o perfect_a in_o a_o man_n nor_o the_o love_n of_o god_n for_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n be_v mingle_v with_o the_o fear_n of_o man_n and_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n for_o his_o mercy_n be_v mingle_v with_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n for_o his_o judgement_n and_o hereby_o many_o be_v deceive_v for_o when_o they_o fear_v we_o be_v teach_v the_o same_o duty_n to_o do_v as_o they_o here_o do_v the_o child_n of_o god_n in_o this_o life_n have_v innumerable_a cause_n of_o desperation_n and_o sometime_o his_o own_o conscience_n will_v take_v part_n with_o satan_n in_o charge_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v in_o state_n of_o damnation_n in_o this_o heavy_a case_n what_o must_v be_v do_v sure_o at_o this_o time_n when_o a_o man_n be_v a_o castaway_n in_o himself_o he_o must_v even_o then_o believe_v be_v in_o hell_n as_o it_o be_v he_o must_v believe_v that_o god_n will_v bring_v he_o to_o heaven_n it_o be_v nothing_o for_o a_o man_n to_o believe_v in_o prosperity_n and_o peace_n but_o in_o time_n of_o desperation_n to_o believe_v that_o be_v a_o most_o worthy_a faith_n and_o indeed_o then_o
