that_o from_o your_o birthday_n to_o your_o die_a day_n you_o have_v time_n little_a enough_o to_o carry_v on_o the_o business_n of_o your_o salvation_n shall_v you_o live_v never_o so_o long_o and_o therefore_o you_o have_v no_o cause_n to_o put_v off_o the_o call_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o thus_o much_o be_v speak_v by_o way_n of_o satisfaction_n to_o take_v off_o the_o first_o temptation_n i_o i_o be_o not_o take_v with_o this_o temptation_n therefore_o now_o the_o devil_n come_v upon_o they_o with_o this_o suggestion_n say_v the_o devil_n to_o they_o you_o can_v now_o give_v entertainment_n to_o the_o call_v of_o jesus_n christ_n for_o you_o have_v calling_n in_o the_o world_n to_o follow_v you_o have_v a_o particular_a call_n and_o you_o must_v provide_v for_o wife_n and_o child_n and_o family_n and_o lay_v up_o for_o future_a time_n against_o old_a age_n and_o sickness_n and_o therefore_o you_o can_v be_v at_o leisure_n now_o to_o give_v entertainment_n to_o the_o call_v of_o jesus_n christ_n when_o i_o be_o more_o at_o leisure_n i_o may_v look_v after_o my_o effectual_a call_n and_o this_o also_o stick_v very_o close_o to_o a_o great_a many_o and_o to_o take_v off_o this_o suggestion_n of_o the_o devil_n i_o shall_v lay_v down_o six_o particular_n also_o by_o way_n of_o answer_n as_o first_o god_n never_o intend_v that_o our_o outward_a call_n shall_v any_o way_n hinder_v we_o in_o the_o work_n of_o our_o conversion_n god_n never_o intend_v that_o our_o employment_n upon_o earth_n shall_v justle_v out_o the_o necessary_a provision_n for_o heaven_n but_o god_n have_v so_o give_v out_o our_o calling_n here_o in_o the_o world_n that_o he_o have_v make_v and_o ordain_v they_o to_o be_v subordinate_a to_o our_o general_n and_o effectual_a call_n to_o the_o great_a business_n of_o god_n glory_n and_o our_o own_o salvation_n it_o be_v say_v of_o noah_n that_o he_o walk_v with_o god_n 14_o gen._n 6_o 14_o and_o be_v perfect_a in_o his_o bowel_n of_o mercy_n six_o god_n will_v soon_o or_o latter_o work_n a_o elect_a man_n into_o a_o new_a course_n of_o live_v and_o of_o obedience_n from_o what_o he_o have_v in_o time_n past_a 1_o pet._n 1.2_o you_o be_v elect_v according_a to_o the_o foreknowledge_n of_o god_n through_o sanctification_n to_o obedience_n that_o though_o you_o be_v disobedient_a before_o serve_v divers_a lust_n yet_o god_n if_o he_o have_v choose_v you_o will_v bring_v you_o into_o a_o course_n of_o obedience_n rom._n 8.29_o he_o have_v predestinate_v we_o what_o to_o do_v that_o we_o may_v be_v conformable_a to_o the_o image_n of_o his_o son_n god_n intend_v that_o that_o person_n who_o he_o choose_v to_o life_n shall_v be_v conformable_a to_o jesus_n christ_n and_o that_o he_o shall_v live_v another_o manner_n of_o life_n then_o before_o that_o though_o he_o have_v former_o be_v subject_n to_o sin_n and_o satan_n yet_o than_o he_o shall_v walk_v in_o way_n of_o obedience_n to_o jesus_n christ_n thus_o have_v brief_o finish_v these_o head_n i_o have_v only_o four_o or_o five_o caution_n to_o lay_v down_o to_o bound_v what_o have_v be_v say_v within_o the_o limit_n of_o truth_n as_o first_o take_v notice_n that_o these_o six_o effect_n do_v not_o extend_v to_o child_n who_o die_v while_o they_o be_v child_n but_o to_o man_n and_o woman_n that_o be_v grow_v to_o year_n a_o child_n that_o can_v act_v reason_n as_o he_o be_v a_o child_n can_v have_v any_o of_o these_o particular_n wrought_v in_o he_o at_o least_o in_o that_o way_n and_o manner_n man_n of_o year_n have_v a_o child_n as_o it_o be_v a_o infant_n have_v not_o conversion_n in_o that_o way_n a_o man_n have_v though_o it_o have_v somewhat_o equivalent_a to_o it_o as_o somewhat_o like_o sanctification_n and_o somewhat_o like_o that_o faith_n man_n of_o year_n have_v but_o what_o that_o be_v and_o how_o wrought_v man_n can_v determine_v in_o press_v of_o this_o therefore_o i_o say_v it_o do_v not_o extend_v to_o child_n who_o die_v in_o their_o infancy_n but_o only_o to_o man_n come_v to_o year_n of_o discretion_n if_o they_o live_v and_o die_v without_o the_o have_v of_o these_o six_o effect_n they_o may_v conclude_v they_o can_v be_v elect_v second_o that_o the_o want_n of_o these_o six_o particular_n for_o a_o time_n be_v no_o argument_n of_o a_o man_n nonelection_n for_o before_o conversion_n which_o be_v god_n first_o deal_n with_o a_o sinner_n a_o elect_a man_n may_v be_v as_o vile_a and_o as_o bad_a as_o any_o wicked_a man_n alive_a as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n tell_v we_o titus_n 3.3_o in_o time_n past_a we_o be_v also_o disobedient_a and_o serve_v divers_a lust_n and_o live_v in_o pleasure_n and_o excess_n etc._n etc._n so_o 1_o tim._n 1.12_o so_o that_o the_o want_n of_o this_o for_o a_o time_n be_v no_o argument_n of_o a_o man_n nonelection_n for_o than_o it_o will_v follow_v a_o man_n unconvert_v be_v no_o elect_a man_n which_o will_v cross_v the_o whole_a tenor_n of_o scripture_n but_o a_o man_n live_v and_o die_v without_o these_o do_v not_o belong_v to_o the_o election_n of_o grace_n three_o i_o do_v not_o press_v the_o have_v of_o these_o effect_n actual_o if_o you_o have_v they_o habitual_o my_o meaning_n be_v this_o a_o man_n may_v be_v elect_v and_o yet_o may_v not_o act_v any_o thing_n answerable_a to_o effectual_a call_n nor_o act_n with_o any_o delight_n and_o love_n to_o the_o word_n nor_o act_v any_o thing_n in_o a_o way_n of_o sanctification_n yet_o if_o you_o have_v these_o habitual_o in_o the_o habit_n of_o they_o these_o may_v be_v testimony_n or_o evidence_n of_o election_n four_o i_o do_v not_o press_v the_o have_v of_o these_o effect_n sensible_o to_o be_v a_o evidence_n of_o election_n if_o so_o be_v you_o have_v they_o real_o there_o be_v many_o man_n have_v these_o real_o when_o they_o have_v they_o not_o in_o their_o own_o apprehension_n five_o i_o do_v not_o press_v the_o have_v of_o these_o effect_n gradual_o so_o you_o have_v they_o sincere_o my_o meaning_n be_v this_o that_o a_o man_n may_v be_v elect_v yea_o and_o he_o may_v not_o only_o be_v choose_v in_o god_n eternal_a decree_n but_o the_o execution_n of_o that_o decree_n may_v be_v pass_v upon_o he_o that_o he_o may_v be_v effectual_o call_v and_o yet_o he_o may_v not_o have_v all_o these_o six_o effect_n in_o a_o great_a measure_n in_o the_o high_a degree_n yet_o he_o may_v have_v they_o sincere_o and_o so_o be_v a_o pledge_n to_o his_o own_o heart_n of_o his_o eternal_a election_n and_o thus_o have_v finish_v this_o three_o query_n i_o come_v now_o to_o enter_v upon_o another_o depend_v upon_o the_o former_a which_o indeed_o be_v a_o very_a dreadful_a subject_n and_o a_o point_n to_o be_v tremble_v at_o while_o it_o be_v handle_v and_o that_o be_v this_o what_o probable_a guest_n may_v be_v give_v of_o a_o man_n that_o he_o be_v not_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o god_n election_n this_o be_v a_o very_a high_a point_n and_o must_v be_v handle_v with_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o seriousness_n and_o sadness_n it_o be_v a_o point_n concern_v the_o salvation_n or_o damnation_n of_o all_o the_o man_n upon_o earth_n and_o therefore_o i_o will_v entreat_v you_o to_o look_v about_o you_o god_n decree_n they_o be_v in_o heaven_n and_o it_o be_v only_o a_o real_a work_n of_o grace_n upon_o your_o heart_n on_o earth_n that_o can_v give_v you_o evidence_n that_o those_o decree_n be_v for_o good_a to_o you_o as_o good_a wrought_v be_v a_o evidence_n of_o god_n purpose_n to_o save_v you_o so_o the_o contrary_a work_n may_v be_v a_o evidence_n of_o god_n purpose_n never_o to_o save_v you_o but_o of_o leave_v you_o without_o the_o compass_n of_o his_o eternal_a election_n there_o can_v be_v nothing_o lay_v down_o absolute_o and_o certain_o yet_o there_o may_v be_v many_o probable_a guess_n give_v of_o the_o man_n that_o be_v not_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o god_n election_n of_o which_o i_o shall_v name_v but_o six_o or_o seven_o sort_n and_o i_o wish_v to_o god_n that_o none_o of_o you_o that_o be_v before_o the_o lord_n this_o day_n have_v your_o name_n write_v in_o this_o black_a book_n lest_o you_o have_v just_a cause_n to_o fear_v your_o name_n be_v not_o write_v in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n first_o that_o man_n that_o fall_v back_o from_o a_o course_n of_o profession_n to_o a_o course_n of_o profaneness_n without_o timely_a return_v the_o scripture_n give_v a_o shrewd_a guess_n of_o such_o a_o man_n that_o he_o be_v not_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o god_n purpose_n to_o save_v i_o do_v not_o say_v every_o backslide_n and_o every_o decay_a affection_n but_o a_o total_a and_o final_a relapse_n when_o a_o man_n fall_v and_o rise_v not_o again_o when_o a_o man_n run_v from_o god_n and_o return_v not_o again_o the_o scripture_n give_v a_o guess_n at_o he_o that_o he_o be_v not_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o god_n election_n heb._n 10.38_o 39_o if_o any_o man_n draw_v back_o my_o soul_n shall_v have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o he_o interpreter_n observe_v that_o in_o these_o word_n there_o be_v a_o figure_n wherein_o there_o be_v less_o express_v then_o be_v
